I explained the situation - the comforter was still wet and badly stained, including stains from a previous lifetime - and requested that it be dry cleaned and the duvet be laundered and pressed. The cost came to just under $100. When I picked up the items yesterday I was thrilled beyond words. The comforter was folded and packed into the same type of carrying bag it came in years ago (great for summer storage) and the duvet was pressed and hanging over a heavy-duty hanger. Not a hint of the stains anywhere, both exactly as fresh-looking as new. I just finished the 20-minute ordeal of replacing the comforter into the duvet - well worth the effort and out-of-pocket to have everything beautiful as new. Thank you, Dependable. No one should have to spend the days leading up to their wedding wondering whether they'll have something to wear because a dry cleaner failed to do the one job they were hired to do. Entrusting someone with expensive, sentimental clothing requires trust, and unfortunately, that trust was completely broken. We expected professionalism, accountability, and urgency. Instead, we were left disappointed and without the tuxedo pants my husband needed for our wedding. I called Alterations Plus Wednesday evening 20 minutes before they closed, spoke with Jay (the owner), and he told me if I came in at 8AM the next morning, they could get it done. AND THANK GOD I WENT WITH THEM! Maria, their bridal seamstress, was just amazing. She saw exactly what needed to be done and got it fixed in 24 hours! My dress fits better than I did after the first alterations. Despite this entire experience beginning with complete panic, Jay, Maria, and Megan put my mind at ease. The women here are kind, but that's about the only good thing I can say. I honestly don't know if they're inexperienced or just have never worked with a Black woman's curves before, but not one, not two, but three of my dresses were completely botched. I also had a top altered and it came back lopsided. After the first round of alterations, the owner tried to gaslight me, saying they had only adjusted the strap for my burgundy dress (which was never the main issue). I initially asked for the sides to be taken in because the bust area was too big, but somehow, that got lost in translation. So I paid AGAIN, for all to be fixed and what I got back was even worse. Everything felt rushed, uneven, and downright sloppy. I bawled my eyes out because these dresses were meant for my birthday trip. The white dress? It was the most horrendous one, imagine the outline of Sarah Baartman on a modern-day garment. That's how distorted the shape was. Even after a third attempt, the seams were still crooked and the dress was unwearable. I'm now left dressless for my trip and out of money. If I could give this place zero stars, I would.

During the summer I rent out my house and it takes to long to wash and dry all the blankets at home so I drop them off at Lapels. They do a great job, it's not that expensive and every week I pick up lovely clean and folded blankets. It is so hard to make sure the house gets cleaned properly every week and it's a huge relief to know that's done. I never knew clean, reliable laundry would be so important in my life but with guests rating my house on every little thing it's become a headache. I'm not sure why they don't have more 5 star reviews. I called and spoke with the manager and then met her at the store. She was so helpful and courteous and everyone there has been the same.
