Waiting to be seen by a Dr.

I was there today for a quick visit. Check-in is extremely easy and all electronic. Sat in the waiting area for an hour. Anywho, actually seeing the Dr. was only about 20 minutes. Then I was able to leave. Everyone was kind and friendly. I like this place for myself as well as for my kids.

They are able to handle injuries well, efficient with what type of paperwork needs to be filled out. They were all compassionate and very accommodating it helped me not to have a considerable breakdown. Ct and xray were done and all the staff, from the reception to the nurse and especially the Ed doctor was so caring and proficient. My pain was taken cared of and so grateful they're open on a holiday where most of all the establishments are closed.

This review is for Dr. Zachariah Patrick…read more I brought my daughter to this stand-alone ER for respiratory distress, and our experience with Dr. Patrick was very concerning. She was showing clear signs of increased work of breathing, including belly breathing, visible retractions, and complaints of chest and back pain with breathing. Her heart rate was 151, her respiratory rate was elevated, and her oxygen saturation was around 93%. As her parent, my biggest concern was how quickly her condition could worsen, and the possibility of her progressing into respiratory arrest. A paramedic had previously noted wheezing, yet Dr. Patrick stated her lung sounds were clear and did not appear concerned by how hard she was visibly working to breathe. I suggested that albuterol might help open her airway, but he told me it is only used for people with asthma, and no breathing treatment was offered. During the visit, he asked if she was up to date on her vaccines, and I answered no. After that, his tone noticeably changed, and the interaction no longer felt objective or supportive. When I explained that I would prefer for her to be seen by my clinical professor, who specializes in pediatrics as a nurse practitioner, he responded by saying there was "no such thing" as a nurse practitioner specializing in anything." At that point, I made the decision to leave. As I was walking out with my daughter, he made a comment in the hallway, in front of staff, saying "maybe you should vaccinate your kids." That was unprofessional, inappropriate, and completely unnecessary. As a nursing student, I have been taught that medical professionals should leave personal biases outside of the patient's room and remain aware of their own biases when providing care. In this situation, that standard was not met. Instead, it felt like my child's care was influenced by judgment, and the comment about vaccines was thrown in my face rather than handled professionally. I spend a significant amount of time in clinical settings shadowing nurses and have seen a range of bedside manners. Unfortunately, this was the worst bedside manner I have personally experienced. Parents bring their children to the ER expecting professionalism, compassion, and objective care. I left feeling that my daughter's respiratory distress was minimized and that the overall interaction lacked the level of care any patient deserves. I would not recommend this provider based on my experience with him. That said, this review does not reflect the practice as a whole. The nurse, paramedics, and Debbie who helped me were all amazing, and I truly appreciated the kindness and professionalism they showed during a very stressful situation.

The doctors and nurses were great and very knowledgeable. I was treated in the ER and then transferred to ICU. There I continued to receive excellent care by the hospitalist including a cardiologist. I felt calm and I believe the nurses and all supportive ppl care about giving the best care possible. I highly recommend this hospital above all in San Antonio. The rooms are nice size and comfortable! I even had a sofa which turned into a bed! For me it's important for love ones to be with you at these times. I was taken care of superbly.

When we arrived, her symptoms were visibly worsening. Her face was swelling, her legs were becoming swollen, her chest felt increasingly tight, and she reported that her throat felt like it was closing. Anyone familiar with severe allergic reactions knows how frightening and dangerous these symptoms can be. After being admitted to the ER and answering an extensive number of questions, we were informed that an EpiPen could not be administered until a doctor evaluated her and entered an order. When the physician finally arrived, she appeared to minimize my mother's symptoms, stating that her throat seemed fine and that she did not appear swollen, despite the fact that the swelling was visibly noticeable and continuing to worsen. Instead of promptly treating what we believed to be an active allergic reaction, the discussion quickly shifted toward admitting her for observation, placing an IV, running multiple tests, and monitoring her for several hours. At that point, it felt as though the focus was on additional procedures rather than addressing the immediate issue that brought us to the ER. Concerned about the delay in treatment, we left and went to another hospital nearby. The staff there evaluated her quickly, recognized that her allergic reaction was progressing, and administered an EpiPen immediately. Her symptoms improved rapidly, and she returned to normal shortly afterward. I understand that emergency physicians must follow protocols and exercise caution. However, when someone is reporting a tightening throat, worsening swelling, and other signs of a severe allergic reaction, prompt assessment and treatment should be the priority. Based on our experience, this ER failed to provide the urgency and responsiveness that the situation required.

Used their OB clinic while pregnant, gave birth there and also use it for the ER when my son is…read moresick. The OB clinic is okay, but there are several providers and you don't always see the same doctor/ midwife. There were times some employees were a little condescending, but overall I had a good experience during pregnancy. They scheduled an induction and gave me a different date than they gave the hospital so I got a call that I "no showed" until I told them my midwife told me Tuesday, not Monday. The doctor that told me he would be delivering for me wasn't even there and a midwife I had never met ended up delivering. My son was in the NICU - the staff were kind and helpful. My nurses on the post-partum floor were incredible and very attentive. The OB clinic had some issues with my post-partum care and I had to call several times to get what I needed. First they lost the paperwork so I completed it again then they forgot to send the paperwork. What should have taken a week or two took over two months. The ER is quick and has saved my son's life more than once. Our last visit was on Sunday when he began having seizures and staff was quick to get him into the trauma bay and stabilized. I did have to finally yell out "who do I need to talk to about (medicine)?" because I was telling them what he needed per another doctor, but nobody seemed to be listening. I get they were in crisis mode trying to save his life, but the meds I was referring to were life saving in addition to the other meds they were giving. Finally someone took charge and told me to tell her the started directing others on what to do. Things were smooth after that. Overall we love this Christus location and wouldn't go anywhere else for emergent care.

Especially for an urgent clinic. I checked in online. Got texted with my " appointment time" showed up filled out 3 east papers and read my book. Because I figured it was gonna take a while. Well nope. I read maybe 2 pages and I got called back. Kinda bummed bc I love this book. Then I got my vitals checked waited for maybe 10 minutes then the dr came in and saw me. Then had me on my way with prescriptions and a referral for an optometrists. She was so sweet and kind. Listened to my concerns. Definitely going to come back here if I need too!

They require payment before you are seen, creating a situation where once you pay, you are essentially forced to wait and cannot leave. This practice is extremely unfair and deceptive. They claim they are "extremely busy," yet there were only a few patients present and they appeared fully staffed. While patients waited for hours, staff were laughing and socializing in the back. The service is unprofessional, dismissive, and unacceptable especially for sick patients seeking urgent care. This facility is the exact opposite of what urgent care should be. Save yourself the time, money, and frustration and go elsewhere.
