Unfortunately due to his wheelchair not fitting in the X-ray machine, we were unable to get that done, but we were still able to move forward with getting his Invisalign. Yvonne was the person who helped him with getting his Invisalign set up in his teeth and went over all the do's and don'ts of caring for them. She also told him about the patient rewards hub app where he can get points for various things and redeeming his points for gift cards. Great incentive to get the patients motivated to take better care of their teeth! I don't think they had this program when my first son was here a few years ago, but when he was a patient, they didn't offer any incentives, so this is a nice new perk! I really like this office for ortho procedures. Instead, a different dentist advised that the crown did not fit and stated she would not continue treatment because another dentist had prepared the tooth. * June 21, 2026: The original dentist informed me the crown could not be used and that the procedure would have to be repeated. I left wearing the temporary crown. * June 26, 2026: I received a call informing me that my appointment had been canceled because the dentist did not want to treat me and that I would need to wait for the original dentist. After contacting the office and requesting that any qualified dentist complete my treatment, I was eventually seen. My tooth was re-prepared, and new impressions were taken. * June 28, 2026: My next appointment was rescheduled because the original dentist was unavailable. * July 10, 2026: My appointment was canceled again because the dentist was sick. * July 12, 2026: When attempting to keep my appointment, the scheduler initially told me she did not want to schedule me because the treating dentist might refuse to place the crown since he had not prepared the tooth. I insisted on keeping my appointment despite being told there was a possibility I would not receive my crown. Fortunately, the dentist evaluated the case and successfully placed the permanent crown that day.

However, I have a slight movement on my bottom teeth which has been bugging me for some time (my fault completely). I went into the office today and met Dr. Htut (Dr. Tabata has now retired). Dr. Htut is a great guy! He took a good look at my teeth, and told me that getting an entirely new treatment may be a bit of an overkill because my teeth are so straight. He did mention that he would recommend new retainers for me, and not much else unless of course I wanted to proceed with further treatment. After thinking about it for a few minutes, I opted to do the invaslign treatment. Staff is super friendly, and what I liked most was that Dr. Htut was not pushy or salsey at all! He flat out told me that I didn't HAVE to do anything, and that it was entirely my choice. This made me feel good about my decision to go through with a treatment with them! I have always been on top of all my dental visits, check-ups, X-Rays and cleanings (3x/year). Come the appointment for cleaning, the hygienist comes in hot and tells me I have major issues with my gums and need to have a deep cleaning ($140 OOP) and laser gum treatment ($400 OOP) then maintain deep cleanings every 2-3 years with routine cleaning every 3 months because of my "advanced gum deterioration" keep in mind my other dental office with routine check-ups and X-rays never found anything wrong nor have I felt anything out of the ordinary. I asked her to just perform routine cleaning and she refused stating that there is no point to doing that and only a deep cleaning and/or laser gum treatment is what is recommended, I was stuck in the moment and the chair I said go ahead and deep clean it. Also note, the only time I ever did a real deep cleaning it was done in two visits with 2 quadrants cleaned at a time, she cranked it out everything so fast so it was basically a normal messy cleaning labeled and charged as a deep clean. After the cleaning I consulted a few hygienist friends I have and got their opinion, a deep cleaning is pretty extreme and almost unnecessary if you've already had one and maintain good hygiene and regular check-ups/cleanings and they all pretty much summed up how some clinics will absolutely be sales driven and up-sell or recommend unnecessary procedures to rack up the bill. I'm going back to my old dental office and paying out of pocket, I had no idea there's a dark side to this industry and it showed here. The whole process did not feel right at all, it was rushed, sales pitch was fast, filled with strong buzz words and fabricated urgency like a used car lot or old gym memberships. I should have just left and went for a second opinion at another office.

My daughter was referred to Abari Orthodontics for an oral surgery consultation regarding the…read moreextraction of my 8-year-old daughter's severely decayed permanent molar (#14). Before we could even be seen by the oral surgeon, I was told that she needed an orthodontic consultation first. As expected, because my daughter is only 8 years old and still has many primary teeth, we were told she was not a candidate for orthodontic treatment at this time. We then had to schedule yet another appointment to finally see the oral surgeon--the very reason we were referred to the office in the first place. During the oral surgery consultation, the doctor agreed that the tooth needed to be extracted but recommended a bone graft that was not covered by insurance. When I asked whether the extraction could be performed without the bone graft, I was told by the treatment coordinator that the doctor would not perform the extraction unless the bone graft was also completed. As a parent, I wanted to understand the specific clinical reason for that decision. I requested written documentation explaining why the bone graft was necessary in my daughter's case and why treatment would be denied without it. Instead, I was provided with paperwork recommending a second opinion, which did not answer the questions I had asked. My concern is not that a bone graft was recommended. My concern is that I was unable to obtain a clear explanation of the clinical findings supporting the recommendation or the reason extraction alone was not considered an option. When parents are being asked to approve a procedure that is not covered by insurance and comes with a significant out-of-pocket cost, they deserve a clear and detailed explanation. Having worked in the dental field myself, I understand how insurance reimbursement and contracted fee schedules work. In some cases, additional procedures that are not covered by insurance can create significant out-of-pocket expenses for families, particularly when patients have state-provided insurance or plans that reimburse at contracted rates (HMO). While I cannot speak to the intentions of this office, the situation raised concerns for me because the recommended treatment involved an additional non-covered expense, yet I was unable to obtain a clear explanation of why it was required before the extraction could be performed. Parents should be aware of this and feel comfortable asking detailed questions whenever additional out-of-pocket procedures are recommended. I encourage other parents to ask questions, request copies of radiographs, seek second opinions when appropriate, and make sure they fully understand the rationale behind any recommended treatment before proceeding.
