To be honest, I think I got the place at a steal because the floors and lack of paint didn't do the place justice. I told a friend that I wanted to take care of that before I moved in. Unfortunately, I was working with a tight timeline and didn't know any contractors that would be able to re-finish 1500 sq ft of floors and paint all the walls in a week (time of close date and end of apartment lease). Luis came with high regard. He installed gorgeous wood floors in my friend's apartment. I called Luis and told him what I was looking to have done (refinish wood floors and paint rooms/trim/ceiling of whole apartment). I did some research on Angie's List to see what an hourly rate and a reasonable time frame would be to complete such a job. I met up with Luis at a coffee shop to go over my plans and discuss pricing. I was pleasantly surprised that the price quoted was below my benchmarks. He brought samples so I could see floor colors and I showed him paint swatches I was considering. We settled on a water-based stain in a java-esque color in a satin finish (dries quickly and no chance of a tacky mess while still showing off original wood grain). I also ended up with 3 wall colors, white ceilings with exception of a color in bedroom, and white trim. All to be finished in a week. Given the timeline, Luis planned to meet me the afternoon I closed on the apartment to view the layout of the apartment and to start the following day. We walked through the apartment and he also made suggestions to smooth out sagging sheet rock wall in kitchen. The additional cost was minimal. The next day he brought two guys that he employs to get started. Unfortunately, one of them was in an accident that night driving home and wasn't able to complete the job. This impacted the timeline a bit (additional 2 days) as Luis had to pull guys from other jobs to finish mine. To be honest, I'm a human being and understand that stuff happens. We worked out a plan of what needed to be done so that I could have a place for movers to place my stuff in apartment while they completed the work. Everything was loaded into the dining room (huge space fortunately). The place looked spectacular when they finished. My friends who saw the space before thought I was crazy to buy a place that needed so much work. My hypothesis that all it needed was a paint job and re-finished floor was right. Luis and his crew helped me move all the heavy furniture into the right rooms since I didn't have the movers anymore. Great solution to the time delay problem. In the time since Luis did work on my place, I have referred him to two colleagues/friends. They were apprehensive given the other review on yelp but I assured them that my experience and that of the original referral was different. The both ended up selecting Luis because his price is better than others quoted and he also did an exceptional job on their homes. All three of us continually get compliments on the work Luis did. My only regret is that it took me so long to write this review and spread the word. ...finally contributing to the Yelp, as I rely on it for many decisions.

I found them on service magic and hired them (it's just a guy named Luis and whatever other guy he…read morebrings that day) in April of 2011 to sand and stain my living room/hall floors. They did a decent job and it was fast. No problems. I re-hired them to refinish the three bedrooms in my house just recently. OOPS! BIG mistake! The owner Luis came by on the weekend and we paid him half up front, $650 check (made out to his name not the company - should have figured this would end badly). He said he could start on Monday. Monday came he called and said his van broke down and he was at the shop he would have to start later in the day. He never was able to make it out Monday. He came on Tuesday morning at 8am (the one and only day he was on time) and him and another guy who doesn't speak any English started the work. He finished Wednesday night around 7pm and I came to the house with him on Thursday morning to check it out (he showed up in a nice new Audi, hmmmmmm). It looked good but it was still wet - he said it would be dry in a few hours. So I paid him the other $650 in cash minus $30 dollars because he threw out 3 air return registers that I told him I was keeping and repainting. I put my heat on 80 to speed up the drying time and waited, and waited and waited. SIX DAYS later it was almost dry- almost. Six days - I called him on day five and told him that it wasn't dry and he came by the morning of day six (an hour late) and said that because it was dry now there was nothing he could do to compensate me for my week away from home with my wife and two kids. Even though we both knew it wasn't dry. IT GETS WORSE. So I was pissed. I literally smudged the tacky wet finish in front of him 3 times and he denied that they were wet and refused any refund, fix, or compensation - CRAZY! After arguing with him for 30 minutes. He put the new registers in (and bent one of them) and left. My wife freaked out and called him and argued on the phone and he agreed to come by the next day and buff the finish and put another layer of poly on. I was really nervous about dealing with more of this guy's bad work but could it get worse? YES. They sanded the finish and put another layer of poly on the next day (an hour late of course) It only took them 40 minutes... It dried 8 hours later but now you can see the circular sanding marks all over the floors in all 3 bedrooms and of course it's under the finish. I now realize that he uses the cheapest products, and only put down 1 layer of poly on my living room floors and only two layers in my bedrooms. It wasn't until the floors were dry that I was able to go in the rooms and take a good look around. This is when I found scratched paint off of my walls, nail holes from old carpeting that were never filled in, and other random marks on the walls that don't wash off. I also later noticed that he left garbage on my front lawn like sander paper, pieces of molding and nails, he got white paint on the front lawn grass, and get this: he scratched my floors?!?!? Yes! The same floors he refinished the first time! This is the kind of person/business that gives carpenters/contractors a bad name. After more than a week of problems I'm left with floors that look like crap. I'm not dealing with this guy again. BEWARE!

Their measurement was scheduled quickly and the person came on time. The fabrication took 3-4 days and then we were prompty scheduled for installation. During the installation there was a small hiccup where the backsplash was measured an inch more. This was corrected and the backsplash was installed in another appointment a couple days later. We had a good experience and would not hesitate to work with Stone Systems again.

Jeremy and Stacey were so nice and great to talk to in person, in the end I feel duped by them. Jeremy seemed like he was down to earth and ready to make things happen, he often offered fixtures and things that he had pulled from gut-jobs. He seemed like he was down to problem solve and make things happen. I trusted them and was really excited in the beginning. I was pregnant with my first child when I hired them to do our bathroom. My kid is now 19 months old and the work is still not finished. I don't even have the energy to truly outline all of my complaints. The biggest issue I have is that they have refused my calls and emails and ghosted me for a year now. I have been nothing but kind and respectful. I delayed this review to give them the benefit of the doubt and wait for them to get back to me or finish the work. I am so upset and disappointed - I really wish I had NEVER done this. I feel like I wasted over 50k and had a bad job done. There is ONE outlet in the entire space, the switches and outlet seem to be writed insanely (I still can't tell what goes to what and why the switch at the bottom of the stairs overrides some things but not others), theres a hanging exhaust fan, no vent to the roof, gaps between trim and tiles, hammered and mismatched fixtures. They convinced me I should get a custom vanity made by them because it was the only one that would fit and be ready on time, which cost more than the one that I really wanted and by the time they made it I could have gotten the one I really wanted from West Elm. I had to contract my own stone cutter and they generously came back and forth multiple timess over the course of a week because the bradley built project manager couldn't communicate correctly about who was responsible for doing what and when. Their employees were constantly quitting or being let go. One day, the contracted tiler came to my house and demanded to be paid because Bradley Built had gotten into an argument with him about the cost and then they just hadn't paid him? Who knows, because of course they didn't answer phones or emails for weeks on end. But I was stuck in the middle of it! They tout their communication and transparency and pride in their finishing work, they took over 9 months to do the bulk of the work and then ghosted me. Leaving me with a newborn and a shower that I had to connect myself and now I am finally giving up, writing this review, and calling all over town finding electricians, roofers, tilers and plumbers to finish the job they were paid to do. It was my first experience as a homeowner working with a contractor and it lived up to ALL of the horror stories. Unless you're rolling in money, and can be their number one priority I guess they just don't care. Makes me really sad. I would love a simple apology, honestly.

He was recommended by our architects who were friends of ours, so unfortunately, we trusted the source. We provided him with a deposit in the amount of $4000 for the bed and $4000 for the doors. He made some visits, took measurements, and then never returned our calls and just kept our money...just as simple as that. We consequently sued and won by default as he never showed up to any court dates, nor made any contact with us despite our numerous efforts over the years, we only managed to put a lien on him and his previous company, Graywater, which he subsequently bankrupted to avoid paying. It took us over 4 separate visits from court appointed servers, then had to hire our own private one who consequently served his wife Stacey which was admissible. So, he just opened a new company, Bradley Built and put his wife up as the registered agent. There were similar experiences with other customers with his previous company which you can read on the reviews, which is why I assume he just keeps changing the company names. Please feel free to call me, I am a new construction builder and own Halcyon Development Group. There is no "misunderstanding" or anything of that nature. We work with 100's of subcontractors every year in my business, and never experienced such a theft, this guy is simply a fraud. Do yourself a favor and just read other reviews on Bradley Built as I receive on average 5-6 calls a year on people he has cheated or people wanting to find out about my experience before working with him. This is a repeated pattern for this guy, and there has been no self-reflection, no accountability for this man, year after year. He is exactly the type of person who gives contractors in the construction business a bad name, however, I can assure you most if not all are honorable, it just takes a small minority of unethical people to hurt perceptions in our business.

My wife and I were very disappointed with our experience with CHR. While the subcontractors they…read morehired did a good job, the way Chris and Maria treated us was unprofessional and disrespectful. The project started out well, but as the renovation progressed, the relationship deteriorated and became increasingly hostile. We initially chose CHR based on Chris's expertise, but he often left the subcontractors to work unsupervised and would only return at the end of the day. On multiple occasions, I had to identify errors myself and ensure they were corrected. If I hadn't caught these mistakes, I doubt CHR would have noticed or addressed them. We always made our payments on time and genuinely tried to make the arrangement work. In the beginning, we were optimistic about working with Chris and Maria, as they seemed like a solid Christian couple. However, as the project went on, their behavior did not reflect the integrity or professionalism we expected. Before hiring CHR, we interviewed some of their past clients, but in hindsight, it appears they only directed us to those who were satisfied. The fact that they have been in business for over 16 years yet have very few publicly available reviews should have been a red flag. Also note that CHR is not BBB accredited. At this point, I don't wish CHR ill will, as it has been over a year since the renovation was completed. I do, however, hope Chris and Maria take the time to read reviews like this carefully and use such feedback to improve their business practices.

The next day, when dry enough for me to inspect it, I saw that they had simply skipped over several parts of the floor in corners where they did not sanding and no staining. Worse, because they weren't careful and used the electric sander for even the tight spots, they carved into my wood trim in multiple places. Three times Joe promised he would come fix the issues and three times he was a no show. And all three times when he didn't show up, he ignored multiple calls and texts from me. I definitely regret using these guys. By, the way, I'm not sure they use the name A-Genesis Hardwood-Remodeling hardware any more. I found this page by googling the phone number. A-Genesis is not an active company according to the State of Illinois but Joe is definitely still active.
