The project started out well, but as the renovation progressed, the relationship deteriorated and became increasingly hostile. We initially chose CHR based on Chris's expertise, but he often left the subcontractors to work unsupervised and would only return at the end of the day. On multiple occasions, I had to identify errors myself and ensure they were corrected. If I hadn't caught these mistakes, I doubt CHR would have noticed or addressed them. We always made our payments on time and genuinely tried to make the arrangement work. In the beginning, we were optimistic about working with Chris and Maria, as they seemed like a solid Christian couple. However, as the project went on, their behavior did not reflect the integrity or professionalism we expected. Before hiring CHR, we interviewed some of their past clients, but in hindsight, it appears they only directed us to those who were satisfied. The fact that they have been in business for over 16 years yet have very few publicly available reviews should have been a red flag. Also note that CHR is not BBB accredited. At this point, I don't wish CHR ill will, as it has been over a year since the renovation was completed. I do, however, hope Chris and Maria take the time to read reviews like this carefully and use such feedback to improve their business practices.

We found Rite-Way to be outstanding and could not be more pleased with their quality of work. With the work having been completed over two years ago, we have lived in our new space and are very impressed with the ongoing quality of their work and the craftsmanship of their cabinets. Marv and Walt worked with us and addressed all of our questions and concerns. Remodeling is never problem-free and unanticipated issues always arise. Marv and Walt were very open and understanding as issues arose. Our village building inspectors were also aware of Rite-Way and once they discovered Rite-Way was our general contractor, the inspections went very smoothly. We had only one issue arise during our warrantee period and Walt followed through on a timely and professional basis and resolved it quickly and professionally with the subcontractor. The Good: There were responsive in providing an estimate to take my money. The Bad: Basically everything else. The work was obviously sub-par given that grout is failing after only 9 months. The project started 2 weeks after estimated start date and finished 8 weeks after the estimated finish date. In fairness to the contractor, the building engineer caused 3 weeks of the finish time delay. At the final inspection we created a checklist of 6-8 items that needed correction (damaged paint, poor drywall work, damaged glass on the shower door, etc.). The next final inspection corrected 5 of the items and caused 2 new items worth of damage. Rinse and Repeat at least 2 more times.

He gave me his word, which basically kept changing with each phone call. Bottom line, Mike started June 1st, three months late, and did sub standard work, since his crew was on other jobs. Mike also had to work within the rules and schedule of a condo building. He kept blaming the building, each time he would not reserve the elevator in advance. This small remodel was a nightmare. We should have fired Mike Williams when he kept making promises that he just did not keep. Since he was recommended, and our designer assured us he always finished the job professionally, we trusted he would do so. I have never met a contractor, and I have worked with many, who fabricated stories, believing we did not know what he was up too, and only stepped up to finish the remodel, with minimal quality, to finish under the threat of being fired.
