Probably wouldn't use for items beyond carpets ect. I dropped off my wedding reception dress that I needed to wear again. There were still several subtle stains on the dress and bow, which they said they would call to talk about if they couldn't get out. They never called and still made me pay $130. To be fair, there were sections of the dress that we practically black from being dragged on the floor all night. Additionally they somehow ripped apart the bow that went on the rear of the dress--it's a mess now and droops down. It was a high quality material that sat up right before they cleaned it. Maybe it was caused by the way they handle garments in the shop? When I was picking up and dropping off they were throwing clothes on the ground and throwing them around pretty roughly. read more

They are great. I brought in a bunch of clothes that came from my grandmother that I had no idea how to clean. They took everything, documented the type of fabric and article of clothing and gave me a full receipt of every item and their costs. I also discovered the clean leather, sheep skin rugs, repair just about anything, and they use all green ingredients. You can also recycle their hangers and plastic covers to the store. I will definitely be back. It can be a little costly, but they do a great job and don't pressure you at all if you need to decide if you don't want to get something cleaned. Very upfront. read more

I rarely leave reviews for businesses, but these guys did a fantastic job. I had just gotten home from a nice vacation and tossed all my clothes in the washing machine without much thought. I realized as I pulled my clothes out of the dryer that I had washed (and dried) a tube of pomegranate chapstick with everything. ‍ I was so upset. Little pinkish/red dots now covered some of my favorite tops and dresses. I took them in to see if there was anything they could do. Customer service was really kind and explained that there were no guarantees that they'd be able to get them all out. But when I picked them up a few days later, I'd say they were 98% removed. (Just a few faded spots on one garment) I was so relieved and thrilled with how well they came out. Will definitely be going back for more services in the future. I'm obsessed with this place, and that is truly not something I ever thought I would say about a dry cleaner. Here's what I love about them: 1. Staff is super friendly - they remember my name and are chill if you forgot your pink slip 2. The clothes come back clean and don't smell like that weird dry cleaning smell you get sometimes 3. They will pro-actively call me and let me know if they notice a rip / tear in your clothes but then ask your permission before fixing it 4. They do really good alterations and will expedite if you ask for it - they've saved me multiple times but especially when i was going to a wedding abroad and my dress arrived late / needed to be altered with only 2 days to spare read more

Took my wedding dress here to get cleaned. It's been three years since I've gotten married and this has been on my to do list for a long time. I finally looked up a place and saw another reviewer say Presto was able to get the multiple year stains out of her wedding dress and I was sold! The price was very reasonable in my opinion. The sweet owner talked to me when I was dropping it off and gave me some good tips on how to store it. So I had a lot of stains at the bottom, from stepping on it and probably wine and other drinks spilled on it. They told me that it looked like the stains had oxidized and they weren't completely sure if they could get all of the stains out. They said they would dry clean then try hand washing if the stains wouldn't come out. It took about 2 weeks to get cleaned. They were able to get out probably like 97% of the stains, dirt. But it looked great! It's obviously not perfect and I wouldn't expect it to be. Would recommend! read more

I'll admit upfront that I'm not your average dry cleaning customer. Thanks to a nasty toxic mold exposure (see my review for my old landlord at 425 Mass with Equity Residential), I struggle with numerous odd allergies. Trust me when I say that finding allergy-free cleaning ain't easy. The current task - getting my mattress cover cleaned without the use of enzymes - had proven to be nearly impossible before my visit to Presto. As it turns out, dry cleaners usually use a host of enzymes in their cleaning products. Since enzymes are little more than various forms of sophisticated fungus, you can see why a mold-sensitive person might need to avoid washing her linens with fungus (even if it is the industry standard for removing stains). I introduce the answer to my dilemma - the staff at Presto. I phoned before visiting their location and the woman who answered was incredibly patient. I asked about everything from whether their building had suffered water damage, to exactly how long they would keep my belongings, to a rundown on their knowledge of cleaning enzymes. When I arrived in-person, mattress cover in hand, the staff was courteous and informative. They took the time to explain that I needed a "dry clean process" versus a "wet." The employee even carefully marked and bagged my cover indicating that I suffered from an allergy. To my surprise, my cover was ready for pickup the very next day. It was tucked neatly into a zipped bag for only $27.00. Especially for our area, that price is excellent! I would give Presto 5 stars if it weren't for the strong perfume/deodorizer smell left lingering on my mattress cover. While I have not had an allergic reaction like I would to enzymes, I am not thrilled that the material smells like an awful fragranced deodorant. Do note though that it does not smell anything like the customary, harsh dry cleaning fumes, but for someone who avoids all fragrances, the smell it does have is still posing a bit of a challenge. I have yet to put the cover on my bed. I am currently "airing it out" in hopes the smell will dissipate over the next few days. My conclusion is that the staff's friendliness, informative and upfront attitude, the environmentally friendly nature of the business, affordable pricing and promptness of service warrant giving Presto not only 4 stars, but also another chance at establishing a regular relationship. I'm planning to inquire about the fragrance issue next time in hopes of determining whether we might take my natural cleaning options one step further in the future (read sans perfumed deodorant). read more

Presto Valet saved us so much money! When we bought our house, the previous owners kindly left us their nice Pottery Barn duponi silk curtains. This was the first time that we owned nice curtains and realized we should probably get them dry cleaned at some point to freshen them up. I called a bunch of places--around 10 to see where I could get the cheapest and friendliest dry cleaner for curtains. I was shocked at how hard it was--most places didn't do curtains and were pricey--around $25 per panel! So by the time I dry cleaned each set of 4 panels it ended up being $100 and I couldn't justify cleaning them when I knew that it would cost much less to buy new ones. Until I found Presto Valet! They were really great and only charged $18/piece. After we dropped them off a day later, we got a phone call saying that they felt there was too much sun damage already on the curtains and they recommended that we don't dry clean those as doing so would destroy them. We were so grateful that they warned us about the damage ahead of time and saved us the money and hassle. I really appreciated that! This company is not trying to pull a fast one on you or making stuff up. Inside is a little dreary but it's spacious and the staff are pretty friendly. I have not tried this place for clothes or anything else yet but would highly recommend based on my experience with the curtains! read more

I only ever go to the dry cleaner when I completely run out of everything. Sad but true. I say this because I took a VERY large bundle of clothes, most of which required special treatment, to Presto's on Thursday evening and I was able to pick them up freshly cleaned Saturday morning. I honestly think they said everything was finished by Friday at 6. That's a rarity where I'm from. There is a lot of parking. There are three spots on the street in from of Presto and there is a triangle of single spaces around the entire cleaner. If you can't get an in front parking space, the trick is to circle around the building's parking lot and park near the exit. It will save you a lot of hassle when leaving with your clothes. My coat was a mess. A super mess. I somehow sat in something that dried sticky and hard over a large portion of my clothes. I tried to dab at it and see if it helped that just resulted in a weird tissue like fur exterior on the stupid stain. I was just going to chuck the whole thing and get a new coat at this point. I took it to Presto's and they got everything out with out damaging the wool. It looks fresh and you can't even tell the stain was there. The rest of my clothes look great and smell "neutral." By neutral I mean, there isn't a weird artificial scent clinging to them and they also don't still smell like my perfume like some dry cleaners (I'm talking about you Zips in Laurel, Maryland!). The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They were helpful and focused on makin g sure you had a good experience without giving off a saccharine vibe. Any place that can get that terrible tissue haired stain out is worth a repeat visit. All in all I had a good experience. read more

Mixed bag with this place. Let me first say that I have been a customer of this place for approximately ten years. Pros - convenient if you live in Fairlington, Shirlington, or Beverley Hills, Alexandria. Cons - expensive - overly so. Also - the customer service in the past has been very good but has started to slip noticeably. For years, they had an employee there named Crystal who was absolutely top notch. However, Crystal recently left and the replacements are somewhat mediocre. In the past two months I have dealt with an employee who overcharged me on my dry cleaning (based on his erroneous math). When I corrected him, he had an attitude until the supervisor informed him that his math was in fact, incorrect. I have also dealt with another young employee who has twice made me feel like a pariah because I had small blood droplets on the inside of my dress shirt collars from shaving. I am sure that a dry cleaners has seen that and worse on a daily basis. I think it may be time to try something new. read more

Hands down, the best dry cleaner in the DMV. Everything is done on site, they use an environmentally friendly process, and most importantly they take incredible care of your clothing. I've had uggs restored to look like brand new, they clean and store my vintage fur coats, and will gladly tighten a button or fix a seam do you're impeccable. The owner is fantastic, he's always on site, and I respect the fact that he and Presto Valet do tons of philanthropy for the Alexandria community. The team is supremely courteous, I'm always greeted swiftly and warmly, and BY NAME by a staff member. They go the extra mile so you don't have to. UPDATE: Favorite suit pants ruined. I took them in with a super tiny ink stain and asked them if they could get it out to which the clerk said yet. Tell me why when I got the pants back and went to wear them today they had a HUGE white streak where the ink stain was. Can I have the tiny pen stain back?! If I wanted my clothes ruined I would have just kept going to ZIPS- at least they do it for 1/4 the price. I definitely do not recommend. ------------------------------- Not really impressed. I went out on a limb to try this cleaners since it's in my neighborhood. Well there wasn't really anything wrong with the service, but it wasn't great either. Also, this place is really expensive for dry cleaning- maybe they're using diamonds in their eco dry cleaning methods? My bill was over $150 for a suit, 6 pairs of pants, 2 dresses, and 3 shirts. I could justify spending this type of dough if the clothes looked great when I got them back, but a few of the pants had other people's (I know because I'm not blonde) hair on them and lint balls. I expect an exceptional level of clean when i am paying the price for it. There are equally good dry cleaners that will do the same job for less half the price. I've been going to Presto Valet for over a year. I started going there because it's an Environmental Dry Cleaner, meaning they do not use any hazardous chemicals. I'm very happy with their service. The staff is friendly and attentive. My clothes always look great and never have that chemical smell. As far as price, they charge based on the material. Most of my pieces (suits, trousers, and knit tops) average about $6 a piece. So yes, it's not as cheap as those discount cleaners, but I assure you your clothes will last longer and look better. The price is worth it. They use safety pins to fasten the order numbers, but I return them so they can be reused. I also return the hangers to be reused. Parking is never an issue, they have a big lot. read more

I have a set of 511 work pants that were ridiculously too long on my 5'1 frame that I needed hemmed. So I took to Yelp and found this location right by my house. Parking is a bit odd -there are a couple spots when you pull into the building lot, then to get out you have to drive around a narrow lane around the perimeter of the building where there are a few spots on the way out. I walked inside and was immediately greeted by a few staff ladies. After telling them I needed pants hemmed they immediately took me to the back to try them on and mark them. Once that was completed I gave them my information to set up a profile with them since I'm a newbie to the establishment. I was anxious for them to be ready quickly as I need them for an out of state work trip the following week but luckily they have signs posted when your items will be ready depending on the day you drop them off. One pricey receipt later I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. This place is a well-oiled machine and everyone is nice! Fingers crossed the pants don't turn out to be highwaters, I'll update when I can pick them up. But so far great customer service! read more

This place isn't bad, though hardly the best dry cleaning place that I have ever been to. However, they do have some of the nicest staff on the planet. They're great at getting out stains. And it's nice that they are environmentally friendly, though that doesn't matter much to me... after all, I'll be dead long before this planet goes into the sh!tter. My complaints are that the prices are a little high, IMO. $15 for a suit and $20 for my girlfriend's dresses? Meh. Also, and this really irritates me, is that on my dress shirts, maybe every 4th shirt or so, they will be careless with pressing shirts and introduce wrinkle onto the inside of the side of my shirt where you insert the buttons. Not a big deal because it's on the inside, you say? False. It makes the shirt not lay flat. For the slightly higher prices, please iron my things correctly. They also don't have the fastest turnaround times, either. 3+ days to get some basic dress shirts back is excessive. Overall a decent place, and you can certainly do much much worse. read more

I have been going to Presto Valet for two years for alterations and to get my clothes dry cleaned. I've never had any problems with any of the work I have had them do. Alterations were skillfully done and I haven't had issues with the stitching coming undone as I have with some of the other tailors in the area. Their environmentally friendly cleaning is great! Extremely poor customer service. I dropped off a brand new blouse to have it dry cleaned and was told it would be ready at the end of the day. When I came to pick it up, the shirt could not be found and there was a note on the slip saying it had spots. It was a brand new shirt that had no spots when I dropped it off; it just had wrinkles. I asked to see the shirt and Diane said I'd have to wait an hour because it couldn't be found. She was extremely rude and acted like it was my fault. Luckily, when I came back the next day, the shirt was fine, but the staff was still rude and attempted to justify why there had been spots. Also, this place is expensive. 5 pieces cost $65. Take your money elsewhere, especially where there are kind owners/managers. read more

After our local regular place became more expensive than the service and quality warranted - and after they made a few mistakes, and shrunk a few sweaters, we were in the market for a new place. I took 2 sweaters - one cashmere men's, one merino wool women's - that were brand new, one with coffee stains with cream on the cashmere, and what I guess was dog slobber on the other. Both sweaters were returned in perfect condition, looked brand-new, didn't shrink a centimeter, and the service was wonderful. And I like the fact they have a dufflebag type system they bag up your clothes for handling, rather than my old place that just balled everything up and tossed it into a bin while they printed my ticket. I think there's less chance things will get lost or mishandled this way. One star off for the $9 price per sweater - but it's not an every-day thing we clean, and the quality of the service is more than worth it to feel that my investment in quality clothing will be preserved. read more

I brought my wedding dress here to be cleaned after another dry cleaner stained it (check out my review for Virginia Cleaners on King St.). Long story short, I brought my never-worn wedding dress into Virginia Cleaners to get a touch up clean before the wedding, and they covered it in dry cleaning chemical stains. So I went to Presto 10 days before my wedding hoping they could help. I walked into the store having never been, and draped my dress across the counter, and burst into tears. The COO, Diane, noticed I was upset and came over to help me herself. She was attentive, understanding, and very helpful. She went over each stain with me and explained what she thought it was, then reassured me they would be able to help. She charged me $50 (a third of what Virginia Cleaners charged) but told me if they couldn't get the stains out, I would not be charged. Diane called me twice the next day to give me updates on the dress, and again the day that it was ready. I went back three days later to a beautiful, 99% clean wedding dress. One of her employees brought the dress out to me, and went over the entire thing, identifying which stains they removed completely (99% of them) and the few that they were able to drastically fade to almost invisibility. I happily paid the $50 and will continue to return to Presto. Their customer service, honesty, and skill saved my dress!! read more

One dress and one four-piece suit are now puckered at the seams. Those items, plus another four-piece suit and a skirt all have shiny fabric at the seams and you can now see the seams through the fabric. None of these were an issue before I dropped-off these items for dry-cleaning at Presto Valet and I only noticed these issues as I put the items away upon retrieving them for the Presto Valet. A few of these items had only been worn a handful of times so it wasn't wear and tear. I've used Presto for a couple of years with only a few minor issues until now. But there is no way I'm going back. I called to discuss some of these issues and they immediately acted like it was somehow my fault that all of these clothes were now damaged. Presto is a family business that cares! I've been using their services for three years now. They have great customer service, often putting in a little extra care for my garments I didn't even realize was needed. They were able to mend a small tear in my suit in a way that is barely visible! My dry-cleaned items always smell fresh and not "chemically" when I get them back... and they are always ready on time. I have an absolute rave about the tailor here. I'm a semi-regular for the dry cleaning, but tailoring had been limited up until recently. I bought a vintage dress on Ebay that needed to be taken in a little at the bust. It's double-layered with lace on the outside and pretty delicate. I'd initially thought we could just take it up at the shoulders and be done with it, but the tailor recommended against that, suggesting instead that she create new darts at the bust and take in the zipper. This was on Saturday afternoon. The (beautifully finished) dress was ready by Tuesday, and that includes the dry cleaning I had them do after the alterations. It looks immaculate. The cost was $40, which seems more than fair for the amount and quality of work. I took off one star because the dry cleaning prices are high. $7.50 for a short-sleeve cashmere sweater? $15 for a tank dress? Ouch. I love that its environmentally friendly and I understand that it carries a higher price, but I find myself being very selective about what I'll have dry cleaned because of the prices. Besides the 'environmentally friendly' silicone cleaner, this site offers green reusable dry cleaning bags. I was glad to see this because I dont like throwing away plastic bags. The first time I dropped off my cloths at this location I bought one of their reusable bags for $6. When I picked up my cloths, they were in a clear plastic bag. They apologized for the mistake and gave me an extra reusable bag. Not bad. A few days later, I drop off some more cloths, and a green bag. when I picked them up, no green bag. The same thing the following week... but they didn't give me any more freebies. Since they are the only non-toxic cleaner around, I continue to go there. I just make them write GREEN BAG on the slip. read more

Unbelievably overpriced. I dropped off a handful of shirts and some pants and made the mistake (?) of not asking how much it would cost. When I picked them up, I could not believe the bill -- It cost over $3 per shirt and over $7 per pair of pants!!! This is TRIPLE what I paid at the last place I went (in Arlington) -- and the last place also used green technology and never damaged or lost any of my clothes. Yes, they were nice and friendly. I can't complain about the service or the work. But, really, $3 to clean a SHIRT? I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere. read more

After another dry cleaner told me it would cost $25 to replace the zipper on my skirt, I went to presto valet to see what their rates were. It turns out my zipper didn't even need to be replaced and it was just jammed. They fixed it right there in front of me and did not charge me. Best customer service and very friendly. read more

I started working in shirlington village about 3 months ago. It's mandatory that my work uniforms are dry cleaned. My coworkers told me the best spot was presto valet. They even have a drop box late at night and your clothes are ready the next day by 10am. How convenient! I love going to this place, the employees are great and very polite. I recently picked up my uniforms like usually I do, went to work and was about to to start my second shift when I noticed 2 of my shirts were different. I had 2 of the old versions and 2 of the new versions. I just paid $80 for the new versions so I was upset when I noticed they were all old and one was extremely big for me. I took my concerns to the manager/partnering owner Diann. She basically told me it was my fault and that my coworkers and I always mix up our shirts when we drop them off and there's no way she could've mixed my shirts up. After about 15 minutes of going back and forth with Diann who lost her composure and was very unprofessional she finally told me she would look for them. So I came back the next day to see if she found my shirts but unfortunately she didn't. So she said she would pay for one shirt only. I agreed because she was very rude and still talked down to me like it was my fault. So I go in the next day with my receipt for my shirt she has to replace. As soon as I walk in I could cut the tension with a knife. Everyone was staring at me. It was very uncomfortable, I hate confrontation and freeze up when I feel like I'm being attacked. I gave her one of the old versions back and gave Diann my receipt. She was upset that I wore the large shirt that wasn't mine to begin with but I have to work. She than accused me of lying saying the shirts that I picked up this morning was large as well which wasn't true. The women shirts have numbers and the men have letters. I was so uncomfortable I grabbed my things including my check she owed me and stormed out. Horrible service and way to expensive. read more
