I rarely leave negative reviews, so it pains me to do this. We were staying nearby on our week vacation in Lake George and needed groceries, so this was a convenient place to stop. Sadly, we left with nothing. The parking lot is small and in high demand, so plan accordingly. Upon entering the store, we both immediately looked at each other when we saw the condition of this place. The look said: "Are we really sure we want to do this?" It looks like it hasn't been updated in decades. Shabby, somewhat grimy, and just beat up. Fridge with the eggs inside was stained and dirty. Aisles are incredibly narrow, and we found ourselves getting jammed up when other customers were coming from the opposite way. We started to load our cart anyway, grabbing necessities. Prices weren't exactly chopped. Rather, things were pricey. Where it all went truly wrong was when we got to the meats. I intended to purchase fresh sausage and, to my surprise, none of it had ANY dates on it. Upon closer inspection, they had some frost of them, as if they had been frozen, thawed, and just put out. They were leaking fluids everywhere. I asked my wife to check for dates, and she could find none either. This was just scary. We put our items back and took the drive to Wal mart and were glad we did. Is this place good in a pinch? I guess so, if you're willing to roll the dice. Corner stores in the NYC area present better than this place. read more

This grocery store is situated perfectly near the town in Lake George close to all of the hotels, granted the place is not modern, but that is not expected in the town of Lake George. They have everything that you can need. I have never not found what I was looking for in this grocery store, excellent to have this in the heart of Town. read more

Honestly shocked by all the bad reviews this place has gotten. Yes - when you first walk in there's a strange funky odor and the lighting was oddly dim, which immediately made me think of a horror movie. But as soon as my eyes adjusted... I saw that it really was a "one stop shopping" experience with a row of (chilled) beers just a few steps from the deli as well as all the 'usual suspects' of essential items you forget to pack away for vacation (sunscreen, bottled water, lip balm, snacks etc.). Where I come from (a far off land called 'New Jersey') our supermarkets don't have alcohol in them so you always need to make at least two stops when you're out and about. And my ego is giving this place an extra star for the guy who proofed me and then quizzed one of my kids - seemingly not believing how old I really am. (My kid had zero clue that my b-day was about a month away... sheesh!) On a return visit another cashier also asked for my license and I realized this was just the policy but I won't deduct that bonus star due to my (now) bruised ego. Wedged kinda-sorta in the middle of Pizza Jerks and The Breakfast Spot - this place was continually doing serious business and we were definitely happy the place existed so close to where we were staying. read more

Market 32's are dirty stores. Latham, Watervliet and Cohoes NY need better General Managers to check on cleanliness and rotten and expired food. The entrance ways smell. The produce bins are dirt and well as shelves. Mold on bread products. forget buying meat or seafood. Fresh fish should not smell when you unwrap it. it sits out too long. There's a reason us local yokels shop elsewhere (Walmart, Aldi, Price-Rite, Hanaford, Sokol's Market, Topps, Market32, the big Price Choppers, Dollar Tree, Dollar General): The Lake George Price Chopper is THE highest priced supermarket in the tri-county area....most especially during tourist season. Touron's and the upwardly mobile don't worry their numpty heads about high prices, but down here in reality-land, we actually do, so if you are cost conscious, shop elsewhere, there's loads of choices if you have a car and the time. read more

This is one of the more run down Price Choppers I have been in, it could certainly use a face lift. I popped in here quickly while strolling through Lake George Village, this PC is conveniently located off of route 9. This store does not appear to have been updated in years. It's a tiny store, so there isn't a lot of inventory. If you are coming up to Lake George for a week and renting a place, this isn't the spot to come to for heavy duty grocery shopping. They do have a small lot, but I have to wonder if it gets filled up at peak tourist times. I only ran in here to buy a bottle of water. There weren't many registers open, but the nice lady at the customer service desk waived me over. So, not a great place for major shopping, but fine for a quick snack or beverage. read more

5 stars to the folks in the deli at Lake George, NY Price Chopper, who make the delicious fresh salads daily!! Fresh veggies, meats, cheeses, eggs!! Reasonably priced, and always available!! Had to pick up something quick while in town for the Fourth of July and didn't have time to drive to Wal-Mart with all the holiday traffic in town for the firework display. They had what I needed, thank goodness, but it seemed a bit overpriced. Store was on the small and dingy side. It also had a small parking lot, probably packed with non shoppers there for the fireworks. Would only go back when in dire straights. read more

Convenient location close to where we stay on Lakeshore Dr when we visit the area during mid-September (Balloon Festival). Their parking lot is also adjacent to a pizzeria, wine and spirits store and bakery that we often patronize. The small grocery meets our basic needs for our family and our only once/year shopping. Prices may not be comparably the best (and we live in manhattan), but maybe I should consider signing up for their membership discount shopping card. In the aisles I've asked for assistance in the past and the staff were helpful. I try to shop mid-week mid-evening before the weekend crowd gets settled in so less shoppers around and abundant parking.There is also a dvd rental vending machine right outside the entrance. So depending on how often you shop here and what your needs are I think will determine your like or dislike for this establishment. read more

Oh good lord! This was the worst Price Chopper I've ever been to in my life. It's not even really representative of what every other Price Chopper store looks like. It's like a Price Chopper-express, much smaller, much dirtier, and much more dangerous! Note: It's in Lake George, it's not really dangerous. I'm just going to use some hyperbole for fun. The building is simply too small. The aisles are about a quarter of the length of a normal PC aisle and there are about a quarter of the number of aisles. I think there's a produce section but I wouldn't trust any of that to be fresh at all. The place was just dingy and, of course, everything was more expensive than anywhere else. The parking lot is shared with a pizza place and there were obnoxious teenagers sitting on the ground outside wasting time. If I was looking to get stabbed in Lake George, this is probably where I'd go. That being said, I was able to get some Dinosaur BBQ sauce - which is what I came for so mission accomplished. Price Chopper should think about shuttering this place. If a tourist is passing through and their first exposure to PC is this place - they'll definitely skip every subsequent PC they encounter. This could have a major impact on the ability of Price Chopper to expand their business into new markets. read more

If you're staying in Lake George for a few days or just for the weekend, I'd highly recommend stopping by a supermarket along the way. I think this Price Chopper stays in business because it's the only grocery store in the area. With no competition, tourists really don't have a choice. Their organic section is little to non-existent and house items ( price chopper cheese, price chopper milk etc...) look really questionable. read more

I have been coming to Price Chopper since I began coming up to Lake George, seven years ago. I had always just put up with it, for lack of better options in the Village. This year, I gave up and drove over to the WalMart in Queensbury, to much better results. The food here is just too bad to tolerate, and Queensbury too close. read more

Yes, this Price Chopper could definitely use a face lift/renovation BUT it's VERY helpful to have a Price Chopper when we don't have time to drive to Queensbury. The customer service has been fine, and they have nice fresh watermelon in the summer and the produce is fresh even though selection is limited. I shop here a lot and I'm grateful it's here in Lake George! There are long lines at each cashier in the summer--store manager please work on having more cashiers for the summer! read more

Horrible! In a pinch, it will work. However, they do not carry fresh fish at all and their meats, which there is a poor selection of, are way over priced. Nothing in the store is representative of what a typical Price Chopper would charge. I understand that Lake George is not exactly a Metropolitan area, however, there is a Walmart and a price Chopper within 8 miles. So, unless your drunk and don't want to risk the DUI... just drive the extra few miles ;) read more

We're just getting into Lake George, we need to stock up on groceries... oh look, there's a grocery store called Price Chopper right in town. Perfect! NOPE. Apparently every other tourist had the same thought. This place is so ridiculously small. The aisles are juuuuust wide enough for two carts to pass each other, not an inch to spare. The guys were stocking the shelves right in the middle of the day, rendering 3 of the 8 aisles not passable at all. Tiny selection, bad produce section, even worse meat section. The prices are decent, but the experience is awful. They usually had one slooooow checker and no bagger, and there is no room for a line, so the whole experience is frustrating and convoluted. I'd go if I needed one thing, but never again to stock up on groceries. read more

Look, people. This is a mini chopper in the high rent district. If you want to stock up for a week, go to the big chopper in Glens Falls. OTOH, if you need a few things, or your out of milk, this place is great. It's close to the lake, has good parking, and the quality is MUCH better than in used to be. read more

This is a small store, but they have exactly what I am looking for each time I go. The parking can be a little tough, depending on the day and time, but other than that, it's a comfort that they are there when we arrive in Lake George. read more
