They offer a freebie on Friday. Which means if you spend $25 some item will be free. The catch is while Supply lasts, no rain checks. If you go later in the afternoon, you lose out. They have to know this is going to irritate some people, that aren't able to get there early enough before the freebie runs out. When I found out, that they were out of the freebie item, I brought my grocery cart up to the customer service and let them put everything back. They never apologized, they just said, too bad. I'm not sure if anyone really reads these, because there doesn't seem to be any changes. read more

On May 5th, 2026, around 1:30 p.m., I had an unpleasant experience with the customer service at the Parkville Mo store. The lady was extremely rude when I had to return some rotten fruit. I won't be returning to that store. Managers should take immediate action to address that issue with her. read more

I was in this store mid afternoon and went through the checkout. I normally go through self check because of all the errors at the register I've experienced in prior visits. At the register I always seem to get overcharged, additional items are entered or entered incorrectly thus resulting in overcharges. In this case $7.50 was added to my bill. As I exited I reviewed my receipt and went to Customer Service as a charge for the above amount was charged. My receipt was reviewed and a call was made to the Cashier of this transaction who had no clue what the charge was for, even though she had just rung it up not even 3 minutes prior. This store also seems to have issues with advertised sale items ringing up at the non sale price. I have caught those errors prior to paying on prior visits at self check out. The real problem here is that the store never seems to apologize for these errors. It only takes a moment to do so, but it seems like Customer Service is non existent here. This is my current favorite grocery store. I've been going here for several years and have always had a good experience. The store is always clean and stocked. The staff are always super friendly. They have a deli, a little hot bar area, sushi, bakery, floral, meat counter, and even an urgent care. The prices are in line or lower than other stores (At least in 2024 terms). I realize it's a grocery store and there's only so much you can review but I have a couple of good examples that show the excellence of the employees. 1. I was in the produce section and had some lettuce in my cart. One of the produce associates saw it and asked if I wanted that particular type of lettuce. He explained that it was starting to rust and that he could grab me some fresher heads. He went to the back, found me in the store, and swapped out my lettuce. Super above and beyond. 2. I was walking out of the store with my purchase and a bottle of wine I bought fell out of the bag and fell onto the ground outside. It was totally my fault. I put it in there and didn't do a great job-clearly. An associate was outside and went to grab some stuff to clean up the glass. When she came back outside, she instructed me to go to customer service so that they could get me another bottle. They didn't charge me for the replacement. Again, it was my mistake and they didn't have to do that at all. If you live in the area, definitely check them out. read more

I will only shop at Price Chopper first thing in the morning. The morning shift staff are consistently warm, helpful, and inviting -- they set the standard for what customer service should feel like. Unfortunately, the experience changes drastically as the day goes on. By afternoon and evening, staff interactions are often rude, dismissive, and unapologetic. It comes across less like being busy and more like apathy or laziness -- which leaves customers with one of the worst service experiences in the area. This isn't about a single bad encounter; it's a pattern that repeats often enough to notice. It's disappointing to see the sharp contrast between an excellent morning crew and the indifference that follows. Management would do well to recognize where the gap is, because the difference between those two shifts is night and day. If I miss the morning crew and it can't wait til the next day, I go somewhere else. read more

Prices are more in the range of a grocery store that is at two $$ out of 5. Even things like a small carton of milk are $2 after taxes.

Absolutely awful customer service! I went in today for 2 returns: The first was a crockpot which was broken (had never been taken out of the box). The customer service gal acted like I was full of shit and tried to prove to me it wasn't broken as pieces of ceramic are falling out of the box. And I had 3 lightbulbs to return (didn't fit) and they wouldn't allow it since was past the 30-day window. The gal at customer service called over a manger to ask her for approval and she wouldn't even talk to me. Just nope. I'm absolutely over this store! read more

I recently did an Instacart order from here because it was the only price chopper that took Instacart and I was dumbfounded at how awful the produce from this place was. Asparagus was like shoe laces, broccoli had dark spots and was slimy, a day later I open the bag of potatoes in the order and there's bugs in them and the potatoes were sprouting out. Not only am I never doing another Instacart order from PC but I'm also steering clear of this store. I can't imagine what kind of syphillus I'd get just by touching their freezer section. read more

I often shop here. (One needs to be aware the majority of staff, especially the young men have poor manners, asking them questions is like your inconveniencing them.) Given what I already know, most experiences are reasonably pleasant. This weekend I went into the store (were in a pandemic-be responsible!) I unfortunately had to go shopping twice - short trips, for items that were forgotten when Instacart delivered. So my problem is employees and masks. On separate trips, two different young men were wearing their masks with their nose uncovered. The store obviously mandates that they wear masks. They should also mandate that they be worn properly. *MASKS ARE WORN TO PROTECT OTHERS! Damn-it Price Chopper get it together! read more

I have been coming here for YEARS! The staff is friendly, the selection is broad (but not mega store level), the store is clean & the checkout lines move relatively quickly. This is our neighborhood store! I do go to Sprouts & Hy-Vee (occasionally) but this Price Chopper has served me well. The bakery is excellent and the meat counter is a blessing! The deli's daily specials are always fun to check out as well. Overall I have been very pleased with this store and return often. I can't say I've ever had a bad experience. read more

When I'm in this area I tend to go to HyVee or Hen House. However, I found myself with a Price Chopper coupon that was expiring that day, and I found myself coming in here. From the get-go, I noticed that this wasn't the most updated Price Choppers, but I liked the fact that it wasn't. The newer Price Choppers have some sort of gray/silverish material all around that give me static shock whenever I touch my shopping cart. So it was nice not being in physical pain while shopping at this location. As for the groceries, there was a decent selection; a lot more local items than at the Platte City Price Chopper that I usually go to: Roasterie Coffee was sold here, and while there wasn't Farm-to-Market bread they do have Roma Bakery bread. The produce section looks great, but upon closer inspection there was some funky stuff--mold on grapes, liquidy strawberries, etc. The staff was super nice, though. I came in looking for a specific cut of meat and while it was here at this Price Chopper, it wasn't quite enough of what I needed; the butcher offered to order more, but I needed it that weekend. All of the workers were polite and seemed happy to help customers out, from the cashier to the bagger. Nice grocery store! read more

There was a big article in the KC Star a week or two ago about how grocery stores are trying to contribute to recycling by offering incentives to customers who buy and reuse canvas bags. (It has an economic incentive for them, too--namely that they don't have to supply the thousands of plastic bags we throw away.) This Price Chopper sells those bags, but now they are refusing to honor the 5 cent rebate they promised a few weeks ago (it's even in the article!). The lady at check-out quickly reminded me that it wasn't her policy, which leads me to believe there are a LOT of people angry over this. I spoke with a manager about it--not because I was that mad about the 5 cents, but because I thought it was dishonest to advertise and sell the bags with that promise, and then to retract it so quickly. Apparently the point was never to get consumers to stop using masses of plastic and paper. Surprise, surprise. Ironically, the store IS offering an incentive to those of you who return/reuse your plastic and paper bags. This practice is, in my opinion, counter-intuitive, since the store has to pay for those bags whereas I paid the store for mine. Luckily, I didn't buy the reusable canvas bags as an investment (assuming one visit per week, 5 cents rebate for each bag each visit means it would take me 20 visits to pay off the bag, and another 20 visits to earn a dollar off the bag). I actually care that we unnecessarily dump some exhorbiant number of plastic bags into land fills every day. So Price Chopper, go ahead and mistreat responsible consumers. Rest assured we'll shop elsewhere. read more

Our local! No complaints! It's a large grocery store with an large variety and selection in most all departments. It is NOT a mega grocery store carrying every variety and flavor of every brand (although pretty darn close) The prices are comparable to other stores in the area. They run awesome sales and specials all the time. The also offer the fuel safer or grocery saver reward cards (you chose which type) and with the new QT next door using the gas points is super convenient! read more

As I was standing in line to be checked out, a young man came out of no where and offered to check us out. I really appreciated that. This is my favorite grocery store in KC. It is clean, well stocked and not outrageously priced like it's neighbor, Hen House. The deli stocks a REAL turkey breast (not the processed stuff that is bad for you) and it is very tasty. They also have FRESH mozzarella, brushetta toasts and and some nice locally baked breads. This is the grocery store closest to my house so I run in a lot for grocery needs. The employees are very courteous and very helpful. I don't think I've ever asked a question without having the employee make sure I've found what I need. The deli section is small but has some tasty quickie items to take home. The store is laid out well. Prices are pretty good and, combined with lots of good sales and promotions, you can get some great deals. read more

I'm really disappointed with this store. My mom shopped at that Apple Market that was there since I was a kid. and they built this Price Chopper, and I LOVED it at first. but last year, my brother made the stupid mistake to steal something from there. It was the first time he ever did it, and he hasn't done it since. He truly learned his lesson. Even so, he is banned from the store. Don't get me wrong, I understand banning people from your store if you think they might steal again. So my brother called and explained to them that he learned his lesson, and requested that he be un-banned from the store. They pretty much laughed at him. Here's my problem: I spent about $300-400 a month at this store before this happened, and I have shopped there a couple times since. but when they refused to give him a second chance, I decided to take my business to Sun Fresh. We do not live in New York City. We do not live in LA. We live in Parkville. a nice, small community where neighbors know each other and forgive each other. I will not shop there again until my brother can come inside with me. He stole an item that was $5. and he has learned his lesson. but because of their unforgiving decision, they have lost $300 a month, 12 months a year, for lets say 10 years.. thats $36,000 in potential sales they're losing for the way they refuse to forgive. This is the closest grocery store to my house. I want to like it, but, they make it hard. I like to buy locally grown produce and I know that the Hen House down the road is big on that, so I wanted to know how Price Chopper was with local produce. I asked the customer service counter and they just said they didn't know. So, I asked if someone did. The store manager walked by at that time and they asked him, and he didn't even know. He said I would have to talk to the produce manager. Nope, he didn't ask for my name and number and offer to call me when he found out. He didn't even care. At all. So, I finally got to talk to the produce manager, and he didn't know and didn't care. So, then I emailed Price Chopper headquarters and didn't get a response. So, when the tomato scare hit a few weeks ago, I emailed again and asked what it would take to find out about their produce... and, I finally got a response. They don't make any effort to buy locally. Along the same lines, I inquired about the possibility of them ordering a keg of beer for me. Yep, nobody knew if they could and I would have to come in and talk to the liquor manager. He told me that they could get them, but he didn't "want to mess with the paper work". So, I now go to Hen House. The only good thing about this Price Chopper is that they have USDA prime ribeyes and strip steaks. As far as S.S.'s bag complaint, I can say that I do get a nickel every time I bring in my own bag. Another complaint is that back when this Price Chopper required chopper shopper cards, many times the checker would never ask for my card, which I had ready for them and I would have to go over and wait in the customer service line to get the refund. read more

I just had an awful time at this store. I was trying to return a broken lightbulb that I had recently bought there. Customer service was just rude to me and my wife. A blonde haired lady then proceeded to use the f bomb. And give us dirty looks. In the end I just ended up leaving the store without a refund because the people behind the desk would not help us. This is the only grocery store in Parkville and it's very clean, modern, and well stocked. Price Chopper has the best meat department and the decor is super cute, with big huge letters and designs. I like their floral department, the ladies there will give kids a free balloon if you ask and the bakery will sometimes have free cookies. If you like to get recipes, they have touch screen kiosks that will print recipes right in the store. No coffee franchise though which is a big draw for me. The deli is good but the ladies working there aren't very friendly. They tend to have the best sales on name brand products. The other plus is this store is open 24 hours a day but you have to come in through the side entrance by the grocery loading lanes. A mile down there is a Hen House and new Hy-Vee (64th St) that I frequent occasionally. In comparison: Hy-vee has friendlier and more professional employees, it's also the cleanest and newest but has a Caribou Coffee which is overpriced and not that good, it does have an awesome salad bar and deli though. The sales tend to be more on their store brands. Hen house was recently renovated so its nice as well but it has few sales and their meat department doesn't look appetizing, however they have a Starbucks (yay!) and they have the best cheese croissants in their bakery! read more

Always a great place to shop. Excellent produce, great meat dept, the bakery makes beautiful cakes. I have been coming here since they opened and have always been a satisfied customer. Yesterday, however made me a customer for life. I left my wallet behind after loading my groceries into my car. Right there in a cart in the parking lot for anyone to steal especially since it was near midnight. At 8 am the next morning I receive a call telling me to come pick up my wallet. Not having realized I'd lost it I was speechless. To the young man who returned it, Nick, I'm extremely grateful. Your honesty saved me a lot of headaches. Merry Christmas and thank so much. I really like this store. For years I shopped at the Hen House, and thought I would never shop here, but once I tried it I stayed. The meat is fabulous, there is a great fresh fish selection and the butchers are knowledgable and helpful. The selection is very good, and the store is always well stocked. It is clean, the produce is fresh and the employees are cheerful. I can't think what else I would want. And no, no relatives nor anyone I know work for Price Chopper, I'm just a customer. read more
