I had always seen this supermarket whenever I came to the Revere mall and was curious to check it out, so I decided to stop by and pick up a few groceries. When I walked in, I found it odd that there were only a few customers and just one open checkout lane, while the supermarket next door always has long lines. went to grab some tomatoes, but unfortunately, most of them were covered in mold. The meat section was also disappointing - the products looked brown and seemed to have been sitting there for a while. It makes me sad to see a business in decline, but based on my experience, I cannot recommend this store. read more

But there's something weird about a store that only sells Pepsi products (I want my diet coke!), only has chocolate cake mix with a few boxes of Vanilla hiding in the back, and has no frosting at all!!! I shopped here a few days and I have no idea why there are bad reviews. No, it's not your typical supermarket, it reminds me of an ALDIs. But the meat section and the rest of the store was very clean and I got navel oranges the size of pomegranates at 2/1.00 and they were so sweet! Normally I shop at Market Basket, but I'm on a really tight budget this week and the Revere MB looked like a zoo (per usual) and I only needed a few things, so I figured I'd give Price Rite a shot. First up...produce. Great, sane distributor as Market Basket....bags are the same. Grab a bag of Macs....two are rotted. Yuck. But hey, can happen anywhere, right? I check a bag of Granny Smith...they're ok. Now meats, I want steak. No steak. None...not even crappy London broil. Just that really thin sliced shit. Ok...guess no steak...so I got chicken. Okay, I continue on...and discover a remarkably pathetic selection of everything. Name brands almost non-existent. Very sad excuse for a deli. And NO COCA-COLA??? What's up with this Pepsi foolishness??? And the prices aren't much less than Market Basket. But the REAL topper to this trip was the checkout. One register open with a human being at it. The only other open registers are self-checkout. And sorry...but I don't work here. HOWEVER...I may as well...because I find out after I pay I HAVE TO BAG MY OWN GROCERIES???!! Great store for produce! Price Rite is owned by the same company that runs Shop Rite; these stores are their low-priced, limited-selection model. The grocery selection is indeed limited, and the prices in general are lower than Stop & Shop. However, where Price Rite excels is in produce; there's a good selection and their prices are consistently much lower! At first, I turned my nose up at the meat department; but then I noticed a few items that are quite good. There are vacuum sealed packages of free-range and other particular cuts of beef; roasts, London broil, skirt steaks, etc.; that are actually quite tasty and a very good value! Shop carefully in this department and you might be pleasantly surprised too. Yes, the cashier lines can be lengthy; it's one of the trade-offs for lower prices. Plan your shopping for less busy times of the day (and month!). The cashiers have always been very cheerful and efficient for me. Bring your own bags! Note: They've just built a huge new Market Basket store right behind the Price Rite. As of this writing it hasn't opened yet because of infighting within the owner family. It'll be interesting to see how little Price Rite survives after Market Basket opens! read more

I don't keep kosher, but would like to see a tiny kosher section, or perhaps a kosher item. -1 star for the parents who can't control their kids. You don't take your kids out to the market so they don't break your crap while you are gone, you hire a sitter, or perhaps don't have thirteen kids, or perhaps learn to parent better. For years I was a fool. I'm admitting this here and no where else. I would want something and go get it. If I wanted a hot dog and the nearest guy had a hot dog for 17 bucks I'd buy it and not give a crap. Oh sure, some items are priced right, but everything else about this place simply sucks. To save money, they didn't bother with those places to store your cart after you've shopped, so good luck finding a parking space that doesn't already have carts in them and just wait for them to dent your car at the slightest hint of wind. Another way they save money (not time, clearly) is by not labeling the aisles. Want to know what's in each aisle? Start walking. Need to find something fast? Good luck! The staff doesn't know where things are either. The lines are ridiculous and the cashiers already seem to hate their existance. The final insult is the sign at the register - nowhere else in the store - that you have to pay for bags. Finally I made it to Revere's finest, Price Rite! I was thinking to myself that things better darn well be priced right, and in fact most of the items do cost less than the cheapest grocery store around, Market Basket and definitely far cheaper than Shaws and Stop and Shop (which neither will reduce their prices). You definitely do not get the same selection though. You get one basic version of each brand name product they offer, so there's most likely no "light" or "reduced fat" versions available. For example, they have smart balance butter, but not the light version or olive oil etc... get it? The produce looked pretty good and you cannot beat 39 cents a pound for eggplant. Nope, never seen that before EVER. There was a pretty large selection of fresh cuts of meats, ground meats, freezer stuff, cold cuts, yogurts, cheeses etc. In the end, you will need to bring your own bags or you can buy some, and you then bag it yourself. The prices are good on a lot of common items; however some of not worth buying here. WATCH OUT FOR THE EXPIRED ITEMS!!! First visit and impressed on the savings. Just be attentive to watching the prices at the register if theyre to be discounted cause they dont ring up. Also, watch the dates on the items cause alot were expired or expiring soon. I shop here because I am on a budget. The veggie section is OK and the isles can be very confusing. Sometimes items are put in the wrong place, but the prices are cheep and its near my house. If you are looking for fresh Deli meats head to a deli because all they have is prepackage. They also have a small meat section. But the do have a whole isle of international foods! Its not SUPPOSED to be stop and shop (and their damn premium prices) its more along the lines if a Sav a Lot and in a battle of the discount supermarkets Price Rite kicks Sav a Lots ass. The store is pretty big and from what I can see was pretty clean. In classic discount style a lot of what the sold was still in the shipping box's but who really cares? The prices are far superior to any of the larger chains so it doesn't bother me even a little. The only real knock on the place is their selection. They do carry brand name goods, just not all of them. The biggest example would probably be they only carry Pepsi products, and seeing as I'm die hard Diet Coke fan this doesn't work for me. They also charge you for bags, but honestly they're like 10 cents each and they're pretty big so its actually quicker to do it yourself. All in all its a good place to save money, just know that you will probably end up at another super market to finish your shopping. read more

I have shopped here for a couple of years off and on. You learn to put up with the lackadaisical help and the inconvenience of them carrying limited name brands but today was the final straw. Went to get a gallon of milk and over 20 of them were outdated. Then I went to the deli ( no line ) and the kid tells me he will be right with me. He proceeds to grab some dishes and go to the sink and wash them. Finally, 5 minutes later , he takes my order. I asked him who was in charge of the dairy section or who was the manager and he informed me that nobody was there. After not being able to find 5 items I needed , I proceeded to the checkout. I thought I hit the lottery ,NO LINES. Usually in this store , they have one cashier and 10 people in line. So anyways , I put my order on the belt and the cashier disappears. He is down shooting the bull with a few other people. Finally. I wave him down to finish his job. 12 minutes to checkout with only 11 items. Bottom line , go anywhere else. Employees are terrible , no customer service and if the store has a manager , he should be fired. I swear , I think the 3 stooges are running this place. We couldn't figure how they stayed in business with Market Basket next door and now I am more curious read more

I get that the place only has a skeleton staff, but this morning at the deli counter- the slow, toothless, unkempt employee was doing more-chit chatting with her co-worker while 4 of us waited in line as she complained about a prior customer who was impatient. "If you're in a hurry, then don't come to the deli counter" she proclaimed! He can go to the store when he wants, right? Now I had all day and wasn't in a hurry, but I guarantee that if she did more slicing & less blathering- we all would have been out of there quickly. This place is clean and well managed. But as a customer i do see the employees take alot of ,for lack of a better word , of crap from some customers. Daniel the kid in the meat department is wonderful. I saw him being screamed at by some older lady. He was im sorry maam i would live to get you what you need i just dont have any. I have to review this place because its another 'walking distance' store for me. I am a big proponent of Market Basket, but I have to give PriceRite thumbs up too. I can actually have a one seat ride on a bus to directly to Price Rite. (by passing 2 supermarkets on the way) Its a nice clean store, as it opened up a few months ago. I went in on opening day, and have been back several times since. I use Price Rite for when a trip to Market Basket in Chelsea is just too much for what little I need to go. But I have to understand that much like other grocery stores in its class like Aldi and Save-A-Lot. It is a discount grocery chain, and often do not have as wide of selection as neighboring Stop & Shop, and many of the items you can clearly tell its "items that came in on the truck from the distribution center today". My only real complaint is the produce and meats, it just doesnt look very appitizing (or fresh) but its really really cheap! Just a couple of things to note: 1. As I said above, many items are "off the truck from the DC today" so you may find an item here one week but not there the next. = 2. Many items are Price Rite store branded items, and they have limited stock of name brand items. However, if you're familar with ShopRite (in NYC), you'll find familar favorites with the Price Rite logo on them (PriceRite and ShopRite are owned by Wakefern Food) = 3. Meats and produce.. eh. Again its a discount store, so buyer beware (again never had any problems but most of the meat didnt look appitizing) = 4. They do charge for bags, and never have baggers so you're forced to bag yourself or have them do it. I don't even bother and just have them throw everything back into the cart. But if you do buy a few bags, they are a nickle, but nice, re-usable bags, unlike regular stores. = 5. It is a discount grocery store, so keep that in mind when you are waiting to check out in a line of 5 deep and there's one checkout lane open. (again they keep costs down by keeping labor down, so you wait instead). But overall its been a good experience. And honestly, I'm glad to see something go into that space as its sat empty for over 10 years as Stop & Shop has blocked every store that wants to go in there (Target, WalMart, Market Basket, etc.. anyone S&S feels is a threat.) Apparently the city of Revere forcing S&S shop to do something (aka rent to someone) or have the property be taken over by the city was enough. read more

Land O Lakes American cheese, $2.99lb., there own brand $1.99lb., BelGioioso provolone cheese $2.99lb., Finlandia swiss cheese $4.49lb., ( I once paid $7.99lb. at Shaw's for the exact same cheese ) Corando Genoa salami $2.99lb., several kinds of Carolina turkey breasts for $2.99lb., and cooked ham for $1.99lb. These are all Price Rite's EVERYDAY prices, not specials! They also have a small deli case with all these popular deli meats pre sliced to save you time by not waiting at the deli counter, and the prices are not higher like they are at other supermarkets. If your family eats a lot of deli meat, it is worth to stop by just for the deli meat alone! Even with the new Market Basket opening up next door, Market Basket's everyday deli prices cannot compete with Price Rite's. Yes, it is unlike other grocery stores but the savings are worth it!! First of all, bring your own bags, they charge for bags here. And you also have to do your own bagging, but no biggie. Second, however many minutes you normally spend on grocery shopping, expect to spend 50% more minutes here. While things are generally in organized sections, that is not always the case. You may go through the dairy area and choose your yogurt and then bam, further down the aisle is the yogurt you wanted so you need to go back to put the other brand away. There is no signage either so you may have to go up and down the aisles several times. While Price-Rite doesn't have ALL the brands you are used to, they have most. And to be honest, the produce section here is as good if not better than any Stop & Shop. Definitely worth a visit! read more

The worst day I ever had shopping was here. There is no deli. Limited choices on common groceries (no Coca-cola products at all). No one bags; so if you are disabled you're simply out of luck. And you have to buy the bags @ 11¢ each (the bags are large and very sturdy, but couldn't they warn me before I got in line?!?). I hear a Market Basket is going to open within walking distance to PriceRite. Then I suppose PriceRite will go out of business because no one in their right mind would go there if Market Basket is right in the area. And I bet the employees would be the first ones to go to the new Market Basket because they themselves seem to know how awful PriceRite is. read more

I have been back here since the Market Basket open and the produce wasn't as bad as the first time I went. I happened to find pomegranates for $.99. I went back a little later and they were $1.69, but they were not as plump as the ones in Market Basket but those were 2 for $4. Their produce really isn't that impressive and now that Market Basket is there I will stick with MB. I buy more produce nowadays so milling around Price Rite for the rest of their items isn't too interesting to me, but if you need cereal and the like you may want to take a peek. read more

Three years since my original review and I am still shopping at Price Rite. I added a star since the fact that I consistently go here means I like it more than I realized before. Yes, they have a limited selection of items and many of them will not be here next month when you go to look for it again, but the prices cannot be beaten. Most of the time I look at my carriage overflowing with food and I have a slight heart attack imagining how off I am going to be from my intended budget, yet the most I have gone over is about $20. I know I can find more items elsewhere, but there is more than enough on the shelves here to keep me and my appetite happy. Besides, now that I eat much healthier, buying meat is not as expensive. Sidenote: While they may not have ALL of the meats you love, you can find great things here like turkey chops, beef bacon, oxtails and lean beef at great prices. Mea culpa! How could I have forgotten to mention that you need to bring your own bags! Not providing bags is one of the ways that they keep prices low. You can purchase bags from them if you need to. I've been back several times since my first visit. My opinion hasn't changed significantly. For me, this remains a viable shopping choice. The produce is looking a lot better than it did on my first visit; but, with some exceptions, it's not much cheaper than what I would find at Stop & Shop. (I don't really have a problem with that though, since we're probably paying too litle for produce anyway.) Gems can be found here, e.g. Aloevine, which is an aloe vera juice drink. It comes in peach, pineapple, mango and kiwi flavors; and is so refreshing and delicious - nectar of the gods. A large 52 oz bottle costs only $2.79! And to reiterate from my first review: Chobani yogurt - 99 cents! I also bought a half gallon of Edy's ice cream - $1.99! Absolutely, deals can be had here. You won't find the greatest selection because limiting the selection is another of the ways they keep prices low. If, however, you're looking for basics, and the location is convenient for you, Price Rite is a good option. Check out their website, priceritesupermarkets.com and you'll see that their mission goes beyond that of amassing profit. This place has the most rotten vegetable and fruits I ever seen in my life. .some were looking bruised up and moldy ...the meat smell like dead bodies wrapped up and ready for sell for people to vomit lol..I bought all purpose flour and when I got home tell me why I saw beetles inside the wrap and the package was not open. .it was INFESTED..I don't know how they can have a super market open when there actually food poisoning people and children. .So sad to say but if I have my desperate times I rather go to stop n shop and know the fact I won't have parasite in my intestines instead of eating 1 month old dead smelly rotten cheese meat slowly poisoning in my body. .just be careful everyone. .u don't want to eat them nasty crawling worms and end up floating on top of your water toilet lol. . read more
