    The manager writing corporate a blatant lies

    On November 6, I was traveling to Louisiana for a funeral and to address health issues concerning my dad. Upon arrival, the Priceless Car Rental shuttle van picked me up and took me to their rental location. I was assigned a rental contract, paid a $400 deposit, and confirmed the $177 prepaid amount I had already paid several days earlier. Within 10 minutes of leaving the rental lot, I noticed several serious issues with the vehicle. The car shook every time I applied the brakes, the backup camera was not visible, and the check engine light was on. Because of these problems, I did not feel safe driving the vehicle. I immediately called the rental office to report the issues and informed them I would be returning the car. I requested to exchange the vehicle, but I was told they were overbooked and would not have another available until the next day. They advised me to keep the unsafe vehicle and return it the following day. This was not an acceptable option, as I needed to travel an hour away from the airport and did not feel safe driving the car in its condition. When I returned the vehicle, I asked again if any replacement cars were available because I saw one being returned. I was told it was already spoken for. The employee wrote the $400 refund amount on my receipt and told me I would need to contact corporate--or the third-party I prepaid through--to receive my $177 refund. I explained that I booked and prepaid directly through their website, and they then instructed me to call corporate for the refund. After leaving, the shuttle driver took me to the airport rental center, where I proceeded to rent a replacement vehicle from Budget. That same evening, I called Priceless corporate, explained the situation, and provided all requested documentation. Since then, it has been continuous back-and-forth communication. Despite my same-day report and clear evidence, including a time-stamped photo showing the check engine light (which was not a tire-pressure issue), Priceless Car Rental has since sent emails to corporate containing false information. I have documentation that the vehicle was returned immediately, that the refund was promised to me, and that I reported the issues the same day the car was rented. I have yet to be refunded my deposit nor $177 I prepaid for the car.

    Zero stars should be a choice. Do not use Uhaul under any circumstance…read more 1) A reservation is not really a reservation. They go in the morning, see what trucks are available and where and then assign you. My "reservation" was at the Veterans location 5 miles from my house. An hour before my pickup time I was sent a text that I had to go to their Michoud location. 27 miles from my house. A 35 minute drive each way. So there goes an hour of my day, The scheduling person actually had the nerve to tell me it wasn't an hour drive to Michoud. It isn't but since I can't teleport with the truck back across the city to my house, it was over an hour. 2) The drop off was just as bad. The assigned contract location in Baton Rouge was closed. No lockbox. After a 20 minute wait for someone to answer the Uhaul service number, the rep told me the location was open from 11-7, AS I WAS STANDING THERE IN FRONT OF A PADLOCKED DOOR at 2:30 AND NO LIGHTS ON INSIDE. So there customer service help line does not know what the hours are of the drop off locations. AND I was told dropping off at a location not in the contract would cost me extra. 3) Another 20 minutes on hold and we were given an alternate drop off. It took us 2.5 hours to load up and get to Baton Rouge. It also took 2.5 hours to give them their truck back. 4) The automated check out didn't work. The starting mileage in the system for our truck was 4,000 miles higher than the actual starting mileage so we couldn't put in our ending mileage because it was less than their inaccurate starting mileage.

Tried to tell me that I had to pay a $500 deposit on top of what I had already paid, which I did not have and therefore was stranded... again by myself at 1 AM in a foreign town. Worst rental experience of my life I will never ever recommend dollar to anyone; they put my life in danger and didn't even care didn't flinch for a second about it .

In the case of Dollar Rental, there are no positive or neutral aspects. The rental experience, particularly at the MSY location, is painful from beginning to end. I can understand why this low-budget rental car provider is the only option for some, but if you can afford any other brand then I'd encourage you to explore those options. The Dollar employees leave the desk prior to the MSY Rental Facility closing (the building is 24 hours, but the rental companies each close at different times -- those closing times are not disclosed on the airport website). When I arrived, the Hertz employees were still present, so I requested their assistance with my reservation (Hertz owns the Dollar and Thrifty brands). I can't remember a time when I've had a more unpleasant experience with a company representative. This experience was shared by 12-15 other customers who later showed up with the same expeditions. The bottom line -- there is no other rental car company that disregards its customers to the same degree as Dollar and Thrifty.
