They also repaired certain parts of the railing, by cutting and replacing steel pieces and by welding them. In other words they were equipped to handle the job, and also with the knowledge to do it. However, after only about 15 minutes of inspecting the entire house, he concluded there was nothing to worry about. About a month later, a contractor had to remove all of the floors due to significant sagging and install new joists because of damaged joists in the basement. In addition, there was water entering the basement due to improper grading -- something that was also never mentioned in the inspection. As a new homeowner, I relied on this inspection to identify major issues. This is my personal experience, others may have had a better one.
