Starting with the staff, everyone is so lovely including the owner who I've had a few sweet chats with. They take their time with the orders (in a good way) and it makes me feel like they are creating my beverage with care. Moving on to the food, I haven't had any but the baked good always smell delicious when they're being warmed up, especially the Everything Roule. (I've definitely got my eyes set on that one for my next visit.) I love that some of the baked good have Indian spices. I've never thought about having a Masala pastry before but now thanks to Coffee Break Cafe, I want one. Last but certainly not least, I came for the Matcha Lemonade and stayed for the fresh house-made Strawberry Matcha Lemonade. Yum! I've gotten this drink during both visits and will absolutely be getting it again during my next visit. Not much has changed. I'm back to working in the area so every so often I walk or bike over for an iced matcha and either the addictive blueberry muffin or sweet potato loaf. The staff are always warm and service is efficient. The design is minimal but just the right amount attention to detail. The backyard is cozy and is perfect for sipping in the afternoon. When I do this; I usually find " buried restaurant treasure". On a recent visit to Prospect Park, I decided to try a different place and got off the B16 at Caton and Coney Island Avenue. The place: Lark Cafe. I was in a mood to cheat and have a toasted wheat bagel with scallion cream cheese and a Chai. I got almost everything, except, wheat was sold out and chose sesame bagel. As I waited, I wanted to check out the adjoining ice cream shop that sells Jane's ice cream, made in the heart of the Hudson Valley. I will return for a future cheat. Jane's is known for popular flavors as Killer Chocolate, Blue Zoo, Unicorn Cake. My order was ready and one bite of the bagel: heaven! The bagel was toasted to perfection and the scallion cc was delicious. And what a generous schmear! The Chai was light and frothy. As I devoured, patrons around me were typing on their computers enjoying Stumptown coffee and iced tea. LC offers a variety of tasty options: whitefish on a bagel, smoked salmon, cheddar chive biscuits, tea bread, croissants, doughnuts.. The ambience is relaxed and there is a book nook if you need a good read. Lark also hosts private events and for families there are sing along and story times. The service is kind and my bagel was absolutely made with TLC. I left Lark happy and walked straight to Prospect Park. Off the beaten path is always full of nice surprises! I recently had a few of those oat bars after a race in the park and loved them! The bars feature a chewy, hearty oat base layered with seasonal, house-made fruit jam (like blueberry or mixed berry) and topped with a crunchy oat crumble. Was a perfectly healthy treat after a warm sweaty 5K race. Will go back and check out what else they offer.

He chatted with me a little while he made my latte, which was pretty good; better than the one at the cafe closest to me anyway. I also bought a croissant and cinnamon roll. Their pastries are delivered fresh in the morning, and the barista said there will be a larger selection if business picks up. The croissant was light, flaky, and buttery. Really good. The cinnamon roll was also flaky. It was more delicate than the cinnamon rolls I'm partial to, but the flavor was nice. The one complaint I have is that my latte was so hot I couldn't hold the cup properly. I didn't see any sleeves, or I would have grabbed one. Next time, if they don't have sleeves, I'll ask for another cup. Overall, I was pleased with my experience. I'm rooting for this place to do well, since my purchases were good quality and service was friendly. So visit if you find yourself in the area!
