Best place for my Mom We moved my mom in more than 2 years…read moreago right after the place opened. She came from another assisted living that was part of a big chain and was horrible. This place brand new and is really bright and beautiful, the food is way better than others. It was about the same price as others. Everyone seemed friendly and the best thing was the owners were there every day . Originally she had a really nice little one bed apartment on the AL side. But then dementia started to take hold so she was moved to the memory care. They keep more of an eye on them in memory care I slept better at night knowing she was in this place, it was really nice, extremely secure,clean and above all she was happy there. Which really made me happy because she absolutely hated the one she was in before. My mom passed away last week and I couldn't believe how many people from this place called or texted me to give condolences. They really care. i thank them all for taking care of my mom

horrible facility, run by the worst executive director i have ever had to deal with!…read more the fourth floor is filthy! i had mold and fungus and cockroaches in my apartment!!! the maintenance and housekeeping services were nonexistent for most of the time i lived there! i was very sick from mold/fungus/bacteria the whole 8 weeks i lived there! many residents have diarrhea. the parking lot has no security guard or cameras. all four tires were stolen from my rental car; then, the next rental car was vandalized four times!!! i have pressed charges against hector ivon, the executive director, with the fort bend county sheriff! he needs to be fired! he verbally abused me, denied me my legal rights, and sent me an eviction notice based on lies! i have been a volunteer employee of the state of texas i office of the ombudsman for over 30 years. i advocate for seniors who are abused/neglected in facilities. this is the worst facility i have ever dealt with! residents are regularly abused and neglected. do not allow your loved one to live here!

The location is…read moregreat, as it is close to his granddaughter and her children, so they can visit whenever they want. Inside, there is everything one could need for excellent care. This is a locked unit, which is exactly what we needed. He has his own room, although eventually, he may have a roommate. The staff is very kind, and accept phone calls any time so that we can check in on him. He has a better social life now than in the last 15 years. They have good activities pretty much daily. The activities director sends photos regularly. This place is a blessing.

The majority of the caregivers are wonderful, caring people. Unfortunately, the Auberge does not…read morehire nearly enough of these caregivers, so the place is woefully understaffed. The front office experiences very high turnover and is another case entirely. When signing the initial contract upon move-in, they neglect to point out the predatory pricing practices family members are forced to agree to. Signing this contract occurs at a time of great duress for family members, and the Auberge capitalizes on family members' weakness. When providing the required 14-day notice of moving out, I would advise anyone to beware of the minute details you must adhere to in order to comply with their specific move-out notification. They would regard even the most minimal deviation from their required process as cause to void your move-out notice, thereby allowing them to charge for even more days after your loved one is gone. If you can manage any sort of refund for unused days (due to your loved one moving out for any reason, even death), be prepared to wait weeks to receive it. While The Auberge is eager to tack on late fees for any delayed rent payment, they shamelessly hold onto your money for their own use as long as possible. In our case, it took 80 days to receive our refund, even though their contract states that any refunds will be received within 30 days of move-out. Further, in addition to the required 14-day notice (up to 30 days in some instances), be aware that the Auberge also charges for caregiving even on days when your loved one is in the hospital and clearly not receiving care at Auberge. Make no mistake, The Auberge cares far more about your money than your loved one. Of course, in an industry where customer loyalty and retention are irrelevant, I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

One of the issues they had was with their air conditioning systems and fresh air units not working properly or at all. This issue causes unfavorable health issues. The lack of fresh air and climate control allows for unhealthy temperature conditions and the buildup of mold. We in good faith resolved their issues and prevented the State of Texas to issue fines and closure of facilities. Escamilla Company has yet to receive payment for rendered services that were provided back in the months of August 2018 through October 2018.

In that time, I was active in the Walk for Alz, 1/2 Marathon Heroes fundraising, hosting facility cookouts for staff and residents, singing Karaoke and playing guitar for the residents. JEA Senior Living took over the property in 2020. Within the last few months there has been an alarming rate of staff turn over. We are down to only a few people who were there this time last year. A group of families reached out to Executive Management expressing our concern that the people caring for our loved ones were leaving in droves. We were told that they would investigate with anonymous input from staff (current and recently departed) and make changes to halt the exodus of valued staff. I logged on to LinkedIn last night to see that the CEO was congratulating himself on the results of the "Great Place to Work" survey and immediately started seeing red. These guys lied to us about how they would handle the situation, did not follow up with the families as agreed, and then started taking victory laps on social media with their stupid survey. Meanwhile the people who care for our loved ones during a time when we cannot see them due to COVID keep dropping off the staff roster. Now there just a few people in the building left to trust as everyone else is new and don't seem to grasp the gravity of the situation. What the jokers at Corporate did (especially the COO) is that they had HR send out a "Great Places to Work" survey which made no space to collect thoughts and opinions about what was happening specifically at our community. Additionally, the staff had their employee ID tied to the survey. It is a dereliction of duty for executive management to take charge of this kind of issue which is core to their business and treat it with such blatant disregard. On what planet does the COO live if he thinks employees will give honest feedback when their name is attached? He told us in email it would be anonymous and assured us they took this very seriously. He lied. He failed us and our families. Let's be clear, every community will be different. If you have a good experience with another location owned by JEA Senior Living, I am very happy for you. It is what we all want for our loved ones suffering through this cruel disease. I have my own thoughts as to why everyone quit, but this is not the place to air those grievances as I have only anecdotal proof. As a group of families, we went to the COO to ask for help in sorting this out for us. We didn't even ask for them to disclose their findings. It doesn't matter. Find what is broken and fix it because this is his business and we trust him to do his job. He didn't. The questionnaire sent was generic and made no space for specific feedback while having responses directly linked to employees. I guess anyone can be COO at JEA Senior Living. I would simply say that this used to be a great place. Not anymore. The executive team overseeing this facility are not serious, they do not care about the residents or the families, and you'd be better off looking somewhere else because they are not to be trusted. I looked at 20+ facilities. The thought of having to do that again with an Alz patient bearing the brunt of the effects of change is infuriating, especially because we came to them in good faith and left it to them to sort out. They have betrayed our trust. Do not give them yours. Keep looking. You have plenty of options in this area. JEA Senior Living management team should be ashamed of themselves for this paltry effort to make it look like they did something. Disgusting. Shameful.

So far, I visit my father with a smile each day rather than worrying what "problem" or lack of care I would discover. The Abbey follows follow protocols, are professional and compassionate, are willing to work with family members to address requests or concerns, have safety procedures in place to ensure your loved ones safety, kind staff who truly enjoy working there (that is hard to find), and most of all acknowledges when the ball was dropped and willing to make changes when necessary. Tameka (Wellness Director) truly listens to your concerns and requests and creates a care plan to best assist your loved one. If you a concern, she is quick to investigate and get back to you. Rukayat (AL Director) is truly compassionate and is so kind during her assessment of your loved one. While she needs to do an assessment to recommend the best fit for your loved one, she does NOT demoralize your loved one! Jill and Norma (Activities Directors) put together a wonderful calendar of events that my father truly enjoys! Raquel (Move In Coordinator) assisted me throughout the move in process and followed through after to make sure everything needed was completed. Ashley (front desk receptionist) allows greets me with a smile and ready to answer my questions and get me answers as I learn the ropes. No place is perfect but The Abbey checks so many boxes which were not provided at our previous location. Most of all, both my father and I enjoy just being part of this community! The level of activities and healthy yummy food here at The Abbey is amazing!!! Each activity I have been to, I see the staff engaging with the residents and the staff leading the activity excited to be there and offer this for the residents! My dad's bubbly spirit has returned after moving to The Abbey! The care staff whom I have seen are ready to help you and point you in the right direction if they cannot. They truly enjoy their job and helping their residents! The administration attend many events and know the residents. The are professional and polite. Sadly many assisted living and memory care facilities take advantage of the elderly who are the most vulnerable and silence their voice or twist events and then blame on the residents lack of memory! Remember most of all, no location is perfect but what I have seen in these past weeks, The Abbey at Westminster Place is BY FAR superior and I look forward to attending the activities which truly occur when they are stated and well attended. The residents I have met so far at The Abbey, greet me with a smile and often ask me to join them or sit down and chat with them. They truly look happy. Selecting The Abbey at Westminster in Houston was a wonderful choice for me. Although you may not be in this area, look at the description of this place for comparison wherever u are. There are several layouts here. I chose one bedroom with 1 & 1/2 baths. Closet is huge. Living area while not what I used to have is lovely and ample. Food that is always an issue is wonderful. There are choices for all meals, substitutions are available, special dietary needs are accommodated and Chef will work with anyone. T he only drawback is that you are likely to gain a bit of weight mostly because the desserts are fantastic. One of the things that mattered to me was how to maintain my physical shape at my age. The exercise choices are unbelievable and will suit whatever you need. There is also Hydrotherapy included in the monthly rent. It's rare to have it and helps me so much. You will have to look up what it is. The moving in process has been as good as it can be. Staff have been so accommodating in this very difficult process. Also, must mention that the other residents here have been kind and welcoming. They all seem to relate to how hard it is to make such an enormous change in these later years.
