Bad experience from start to finish…read more We came in for a PPT and waited nearly an hour while the staff talked with someone who wasn't making a purchase. They weren't friendly or welcoming and seemed much more attentive to regulars or people they knew. They took the seller's ID right away, but only checked my information much later. They then denied the PPT because my California driver's license was missing a space in my last name, even though my passport card and FSC showed my correct legal name. They explicitly stated that the ATF does not allow this exact situation, but four other FFLs had no issue with the same documents and I could not find any ATF guidance supporting that claim. It felt like an excuse rather than a legitimate requirement. Had I been buying directly from them instead of bringing in a $10 PPT, I doubt this would have been handled the same way. First day was in the office where topics were covered via PowerPoint presentation and Pete allowed us to do dry firing with airsoft guns. Second day was at the range for about 1.5hr where he taught us safe operation (i.e. grip, stance, aiming, accuracy, loading, unloading). Special remarks: Pete's dedication to gun safety and safe gun operation is apparent in the way he teaches. He is passionate about safety and an enthusiastic teacher which made the class fun. One of his most valuable strengths is that he was able to teach in a way that I could understand. (Side note: I am afraid of guns but took this class to combat that fear!) Pete was able to keep the class engaged, provided constructive feedback, and attention to detail. With his guidance and support, I was able to see a significant improvement in my grouping and decrease my fear of guns overall. Also, I made new friends in the class :) **I will be returning for other classes. Definitely recommend.

I had a very disappointing experience with Walser's Gun Shop. I ordered ammunition from out of…read morestate (Kentucky), where no sales tax was charged, and had it shipped to Walser's for pickup. Upon arrival, I was hit with a laundry list of unexpected and questionable fees: 1. 10% Sales Tax - Understandable since I'm in California. 2. 11% Excise Tax - This is absolutely not supposed to be charged directly to the customer. Excise tax is a federal tax paid by the manufacturer or importer and is already built into the price of ammunition. Charging me this separately is either a mistake or outright dishonest. 3. $15 Transfer Fee - Understandable. 4. $1 DOJ Ammunition Fee - This fee is legitimate. When I asked why I was being charged excise tax, I got an explanation that didn't make sense. It seems like Walser's is either unaware of how excise tax works or deliberately overcharging their customers. I will be filing a formal complaint with both the ATF and the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) to address this issue. Charging customers improperly like this is unacceptable. This experience felt like a blatant money grab, and I won't be coming back. If you value transparency and fair treatment, I'd recommend going elsewhere. Save yourself the frustration.

I bought Trijicon sights brand new, sealed in the box and handed it over to them. I went to pick it up after a couple days and before I took off I checked them and noticed that the rear sights were not glowing. I went back inside right away and let them know. They acted surprised like saying they had no idea what happened. I figured they make it right and just replace them for me as soon as possible but instead they decided to go thru the Trijicon warranty instead of owning up their mistake and getting me new replacements asap. I did not receive any communication as I waited about 2 months Before I decided to call the to get a status. NO CALL NO EMAIL for 2 months . When i did call after 2 months Ivan had the audacity to accuse me of giving them broken sights from the very beginning of the interaction. He said how do we know they were not broken and said they didn't have time to check them per their protocol. That was not my problem if they don't follow their own protocols. Long story short I told him to call me when my sights were in and that I wanted a full refund. Another month passed by and still I received no follow up, I ended calling Trijicon directly to get a status update and they let me know they had already shipped them out to the store. I didn't call and just showed up to pick them up and I got my refund. After 3+ MONTHS! This is not how you treat customers. You need to make it right for your customers if you damage anything they entrust you with. Would not recommend at all, don't take anything there. It's obvious they don't know what they are doing when it's comes to this type of work.
