I came here with a bunch of keys - some of which I knew would be difficult to get copies of because I was told from places like The Home Depot that they are tricky items. This company sent out a locksmith that tried to argue with me over whether or not my door lock was broken. I told him for 3 days the lock had been slipping and wouldn't catch when I tried to open it (it would eventually after much turning). Same thing happened today but it wouldnt catch. Finally it opened and he claimed it was because someone must have been switching the lock position which was impossible. I explained again that lock is never locked and no one switches it. He argued with me and laughed and said it must be my God or my dogs. I asked my neighbor who came over after hearing the commotion regarding my door lock and sure enough, the lock is broken. He is on his way to home depot to fix it himself. If you work with this company be prepared for condescension and attitude. This person just didn't believe the lock was doing anything out of the ordinary because he didn't think it was possible the lock being in the vertical position could slip to a horizontal position when the very heavy door shuts. He never even looked at the inside of the lock. He has a hard time listening. He did not do his due diligence and just assumed I was stupid and didn't know how to use my own door. Kept asking me "was I sure" when ever I explained what was happening. I've lived her for 4 years. Called another locksmith to come today. UPDATE: had Van Nuys Lock & Key came today to install keyless entry and sure enough he confirmed the lock is worn. He had been to our complex before for another unit. Told me these locks and knobs were installed when the buildings were built 30+ years ago. Also let me know my door needed to be shaved due to the weather we've been having causing the wood to expand and shrink. A much much better experience. read more

I didn't realize how difficult it is to find a locksmith with a storefront these days. Every other place I called was mobile service only. Anyway, I stopped by to get a duplicate car key cut. No frills, no up charge, no BS. The whole process took 10 min, and the owner personally tested the key on every lock of the vehicle to ensure it was operable. The price can't be beat either...$5 bucks to cut a key, even when you pay with a debit card. This is how it's done. Nice, easy, fair price for excellent service. Thanks again! read more

Our back door knob came off and we called these guys. They said they'd give an estimate for any work and had a guy out in just over an hour. He installed a new doorknob. The problem? He said "want me to re-key the lock?" I didn't know what that meant. He said "So you can use your key." I thought, well, yeah, I want to use my key. So I said yes. I didn't realize he was up-selling me to the tune of an additional $175. So much for the promised estimate before any work done. Okay, I'm a sucker, but you know what? Non-shady businesses don't treat you that way. I tried to call the number on the bill and got a hostile guy who wouldn't give any information. The work itself was fine, but I wouldn't come anywhere near these guys again. Just call one of the hundreds of other locksmiths in the area. read more

I'm glad I went to yelp to find a locksmith to get replacement keys/Shell for my remote. A few months ago my original remote shell disintegrated as I turned the car on. A few minutes before I stopped by, I had visited the Lexus dealer down the street for pricing and I must say the quality of the aftermarket shell is way stronger than the original ones Lexus wanted to sell me for double the price. I not only got a bargain but staff was helpful and ensured I was taken care of. It took about fifteen minutes for me to get a pair of keys done. They didn't have blanks for my car this morning and was expecting a call later this week but the parts actually came by mail an hour later and Omar left me a message that I can come back today opposed to 3 days later. It was good news so I came back and got it done! My keys feel sturdy again as I drove with super glue keeping the shell and key together for weeks. Thanks Omar for helping me out today! I have used them twice and been very happy both times. Alex who works at the shop gives really prompt service and tries to help with a no-nonsense attitude. On one occasion, i lost both of my key fobs to my car. He sent out someone the same day, Leo (I believe) and they had it done within a couple of hours. He did a great job. On another occasion, I brought my Prius to the shop and Alex had them programmed the same day. If you want a locksmith to be cheap and you complain about the price, then don't lose your keys. it was still cheaper than going to the dealership, and I they didn't charge me to unlock my car Prior to making the keys. read more
