We came for late night eats here today after the Stingers game. First impression of this place was it was not very clean but the food smelled really good. I decided to look past the garbage on the tables and floors and order some food. This place is usually open until 11pm but on Friday and Saturday it's open til 12:00 midnight. We ordered a large prime time sweet and spicy flavoured beef donair poutine. We also ordered a large order of onion rings. It's reasonably priced for the amount of food you get. The poutine was by far my favourite! It was so delicious and filling, huge portion and delicious combo of flavours. The onion rings were a little bit soft when we came home to eat them but they were still crispy enough to enjoy them. I highly recommend getting the "prime time" version of their donair or fries. read more

I actually went to their 91st St location. Though I was initially welcomed into the place warmly, the cashier was rather abrupt and impatient. I got two things, a prime time donair and a chicken donair poutine. The quantity of food they gave was great for the price, and the food itself was good enough. The problem was the poutine had a little piece of what I'm guessing is the metal brush used to clean the grills. It's safe to say I'm not going to be going back. read more

Great new donair place by my house. These ones are different. This donair shop has a choice of sauces that you can add to your donair meat for some extra "flair." You can choose between some hickory sauces, hot sauces and BBQ sauces. It really does make the donair much tastier. Portion sizes are good. Service is okay. I am pretty sure the owner is there when I go in, and while ya gotta love his enthusiasm, I believe he needs to calm down and stop acting like he is about to serve you a masterpiece. He asks so many questions, and constantly reassures you about how amazing your mouth and belly will feel once he finishes and you get this donair in your hands. (If only he would hurry up!!) I have avoided this donair shop on occasion if I am particularly grumpy and not in the mood for his pep. It wasn't a good experience. It was my first time going there and I went there because I heard so many good things about it. But the experience started pretty bad. The guy at the counter who was taking the order, was not letting us even talk. We ordered "prime time donair" and we asked for mix. As I mentioned he was not even letting us finish what we were saying like he was in a hurry and had to go somewhere! Then when we got the donairs, it was just beef! Not mix! I didn't really have energy to go argue with the guys that already showed what customer service means! As soon as we sat down, before we even start, the guy left and showed why he wasn't even listening. The beef, didn't taste good and it didn't even have the texture that usual meat has! After I left, about half an hour, I started feeling bad in my stomach and feeling like vomiting. The taste in my mouth was very bad even 4 hours after that! Donairs are awesome and I have been trying most places in and around Edmonton for the last little while to get a good idea of a stat ranking. PrimeTime Donair falls somewhere on the middle higher end of the spectrum. They have decent sweet and garlic sauce and offer a wide choice of different sauce mixes (additional cost) if you are looking to change things up. This is the worst Donair I have ever had, and I even tried it twice because I really didn't think you could screw up a Donair this bad. First, they don't thinly slice the meat off of a rotisserie they grab large chunks and fry them, don't steam the pita to melt the cheese and the portions are pathetic. Based on what you get at other local Donair shops, you get half as much food for the same price at PrimeTime. This never makes me happy and I consuder it quite rude. I called him on in it and asked that if he's going to talk about me that he please speak so I can understand. Ti hiscredit...he was very appologetic and ge assured me they were just discussing my order. Anyway... The donair. $8 for a slightly small "regular" donair. Meat is quite dry. It borders on over spiced as it has some heat to it. They did not put enough sweet sauce on at all. Veggies were finely diced and likely because of this... were very mushy. Taste was allright. As I selected my toppings I reqested a cup of sauce (another review implied they would "hook me up"...but the chef told me acuo would cost extra...). If this were my local shop. I am happy to discover a worthy donair place in the Deep South of Edmonton that can rival Swiss Donair on the north side. Whereas Swiss offers authenticity, Primetime offers diversity with an East Indian flavour option of masala fusion for extra charge. The proportions are plenty and the taste is on par with Swiss. Primetime also gives you choices of diversity of condiments whereas Swiss is standard. One knock is the service. Although staff is polite and efficient in their delivery, they don't have the friendly demeanour and charm of Swiss. Overall, although they lack the authenticity and charm of Swiss donor, the quality of the food and choices are appealing where I don't have to travel on the other side of the city to get a great Donair. read more

I've had a couple of the "Primetime" donairs and so far I love the Bold BBQ one most. Filled with flavour and takes a while to get soggy. Big point in the donair world! Definitely worth checking out. When it comes to donairs, PrimeTime sits at the tippity-top of the food chain as far as I'm concerned. The options here go way beyond Cheese or No Cheese. PrimeTime provides you with chicken as well as beef donairs, and a multitude of different sauces, which I have yet to finish trying. Needless to say, you have many more options than just your classic sweet donair sauce. The spice level that they provide is also a welcome change in the donair scene for me. With a choice of ten different intensities, these donairs keep everyone happy (even a guy who is rarely satisfied with conventional spicy options). The two times I've eaten here have both been excellent, and I'm glad that there are places like this that can deny the adage that donairs are only post-bar food. This is a great choice any time you are looking for a nice calorie-intensive pig-out session. I still have cravings for this place whenever I drive by your average donair shop. The place is clean and has a lot of seating. Let me get back to the poutine. I was recommended this place by a co worker and I went the same day. Said to be one of the best Donair in the South of the city,Prime Time will not disappoint. It's not fancy but it does serve up a "mammoth" size Donair. I haven't tried Donair all over the city as of yet but I have visited Prime Time at least once a week over the last several. Yes, i'd concur with majority of reviewers for this site. I eat here once a month usually. Slightly different spin on the donairs, frying meat and infusing flavors / veggies etc. - adds to the flavor for sure. I really like the "level" of heat you can select, for me the sweet sauce is "ok", but not exceptional. Overall donair taste though is great - definitely try them out. The guys do a good job with cooking in the pans and prep work. Price is fair. Yep - the poutine, the "large" is huge - great for 2-4 people - donair meat on them is good, cheese and gravy are good as well. Very good for the price, and yes - people come in the door constantly for the poutine. Oddity - I've ordered a couple times and seems the veggies are sometimes optional, ie you expect them included and then they've said they aren't... I don't go often enough to figure whether it's a particular employee or 2 that say they aren't, or a couple that say they do, or my trying different donairs there... I mean really, veggies don't cost much relatively - so why argue over a couple tomatoes and onions? PrimeTime is a good donair shop if only because it offers something new and different. At PrimeTime you can get your meat sauteed in a specific sauce of your choosing to add more taste to it. That's a technique I have not seen used at other donair shops. Once you do that you can go about picking your toppings and sauces. The review below is right about the owner. He's very into his donairs and tries to get you just as excited as he is. I don't mind him at all but I can see some people getting annoyed. By far my favourite donair place in South Edmonton, and there are more than a few to choose from. I always contemplate trying something new, but end up with the donair poutine. They'll chop vegetables up and sautee it with your meat if you ask... i like doing that with mushrooms. And my favourite part is that they chop the meat up.. makes it way easier to eat! When i watched him make it, holy they put a big load of meat on it, and load it with vegies, and even when i ask for extra hot peppers they are stingy, they put a handful on, unlike other places who just put 5 extra pieces. And when i had their donair poutine, omg it was really good, the best ive ever had, they make the portion worth more than your money. Utter disappointment. All reviews must have been written by people who worked there. Charged for everything little thing such as a dollar for grilling the onions with meat and fifty cents for cheese totalling a donair that wasn't that good. Pretty small for a large!!!! In the pursuit of all items tasty and fast on the southside look no further than prime time. Based on proximity alone - I'm sure we may frequent their establishment often. The service is quick (in & out 10 mins) with no line up, fresh toppings on the donair, crisp crinkled fries mildly tossed with seasoning salt and lots of parking in the strip mall area. Thanks to my brother "the restaurant connoisseur" he's found another winner and maintains his title by turning us onto some of the tastiest places in the city. read more

They just opened in Sherwood Park. My daughter wanted poutine and I love a good donair so thought we would give it a try. I must say that I have never been to the original mill woods location but lots of Parkians have and they seemed excited about it coming here. Expecting the classic donair experience - you know...converted Mr Sub, spits of meat blasting heat, sweaty proprietor, three selections: cheese, super, or jumbo donair - I instead was greeted by TV screens with menus that I found difficult to process. Beef or chicken or mix donair? What size? Classic or PrimeTime? There were spits but they were empty and not emitting heat. Hmm. I wanted to ask "what the fuck is a chicken donair" but instead I said "I've never seen a choice of beef or chicken donair" hoping to get an explanation of what was going on here. I did not. Just a regurgitation of what was on the screen. Guess I'm on my own. Feeling adventurous I went for a regular PrimeTime beef donair. There are several interesting sounding flavours you can add to your donair that make it a "PrimeTime" and I went with sweet and spicy. The meat appeared from somewhere (WTF?) and was grilled in a pan with sauce. Next it was placed in a pita and I was able to add some veggies. Upon final presentation I couldn't help but notice how incredibly fucking SMALL this $10.50 donair was. Not the gut busting masterpiece I've had elsewhere. The taste was fine but not great. It took me about 2 min to eat because of its diminutive size. I was still hungry. The meat was in tiny semi burnt chunks and coated with that sauce, with a consistency similar to ginger beef at a Chinese place. I can see how some people would enjoy this outside the box donair experience and love going nuts experimenting with different sauces and stuff but I wanted something traditional like I was picturing in my head and came away hungry and disappointed. My daughters poutine was also just ok...the "curds" just looked like melted cheese and the gravy was thin and lacked flavour. PrimeTime is not my thing but hopefully they find enough people who love it and will make it a success. read more

We have gone to this location a few times because it's close to home normally we go to the one on 17th. Everything time we go in the same two guys are cooking and they are always in such a bad mood and one of cooks has a long beard and isn't even covering it. They other guy will put on gloves but then take your money, touch the food and touch garbage with the same gloves then he'll go back to your food...and gets mad if you ask him to switch the gloves. We hope for the best when we go in but last night we were done with this location. The restaurant is always dirty, the staff seems like they hate their lives and the food in never fully cooked. When you mention it to them they get super pissed off and tell you that it's cooked. Sorry but hamburgers should NOT be pink on the inside. The quality of this place is horrible and if I could give lower than one star I would. The location on 17th is 1000% better it may be a little out of the way but it's totally worth not getting food poisoning from the under cooked food. This Millwoods location is just nasty. read more

When the staff member called my number i went to the counter and he asked to see my receipt even though there was only 2 other people inside, so i went to my table to get it and went back and the person and the counter said still fucking waiting for *my number even though it took me 10 seconds to go to my table and get it. Was pleasantly surprised at finding this gem.. I'm old school so ive only tried the original beef donair. But hear great things about the prime time donairs. The meat is top notch and not greasy or full of fillers. These guys know what they're doing. If you're feeling extra gluttonous try the donair poutine. It's amazing. The decor is your typical donair joint and the ambience isn't that great but you're in a donair joint. read more
