There was a little bit of a wait with a reservation but worth it. The hostesses are RUDE and ARROGANT. They are smug and condescending. The place was half empty and they said zero availability so sit at these little waiting area tables to eat like a child banished to the kiddie table at Thanksgiving (unfortunately no tv and no Lions game on either). The food was mediocre for the price and frankly the decor is dated. They have cheap plants hanging above the bar area and there was dust on some of the surfaces. I didn't pay attention to the health code violations listed here on Yelp but should have. Don't eat here. The JW Marriott should be embarrassed and as guest here, I am disappointed to be a Titanium member. read more

We first came to Primo years ago and loved it, making sure it was booked whenever we visited the Grande Lakes property and were excited to see the remodel and new menu. Fabulous in every aspect. It's bright, light, trendy and has that perfect modern day Mediterranean feel that both makes you feel at home and like you are at a far away resort. The menu isn't huge, but each dish you can tell has been created with a purpose, and such care to detail. Even as a foodie Ill admit I googled a few ingredients to see what all certain dishes entailed. We started with cocktails (which was a great choice... fabulous bartender). I had a gin based cocktail that tbh I wasn't sure of all the ingredients but felt confident it would be the perfect blend. My bf had a Manhattan and was also equally impressed. We stayed with bread service, initially a little put off by the $3pp charge, but with the bread being homemade I suppose it keeps people from asking that don't really want any. Also, super tasty; a carmelized onion and rosemary focaccia, a sesame crusted white baguette and a wheat sourdough served with olive oil and aged balsamic. We were STARVING and opted for a pizza as our starter and went with the salami. Nice and thin and extremely flavorful, the salami had a little kick and despite not looking overly fancy, was so so tasty. My bf went for the rigatoni and I had the big eye tuna appetizer as my main. The tuna was the perfect portion and the accompaniments with it were outstanding. I would never have thought to pair some of the textures and flavors, but each bite was better than the next. The rigatoni was hearty and gone pretty fast! I was excited to try dessert and we settled on sharing the zeppoles. The seasonal sauces were a dark chocolate Ganache and an apple caramel. The outside of the zeppoles was light and slightly crisped with perfect cinnamon sugar dusting. The inside was a bit eggy and undercooked for my liking, but the portion was huge and the other tables around us certainly seemed to enjoy them; so I'm leaving my eggy comment, but each has their own taste preference! I wish I would have been able to try another dessert offering! The chef came out to talk to the table next to us and suggested the goat cheese cheesecake (sounds amazing right) and there were a few other items that sounded fabulous I look forward to trying soon. All of this partnered with outstanding service by our waiter Drew. He patiently answered so many of my questions, made suggestions and told us more about the farm and garden on property. We had a lovely time at Primo! It was by far our favorite restaurant at JW/Ritz resort...and we've tried quite a few places the last couple of days. We started with the charcuterie board and bread w olive oil and balsamic. Both were absolutely delicious! The charcuterie board was bigger than I was expecting too. We then shared the kale salad and margarita pizza. Both were very good, the crust on the pizza was so good! We finished with the chocolate cake and an affogato which were by far the best desserts we've had this weekend. I wish we would've been here sooner since we're leaving tomorrow. Primo is a fabulous Italian restaurant located in the JW Marriott. It does not feel like a hotel restaurant at all and that is definitely a bonus. We had a large group--about 10 of us--on a Saturday night. We started with lots of appetizers - the Primo Meatballs, the Gnocco Fritto, the Seasonal Arancini and Margherita Pizza. All of our appetizers were amazing. The pizza was probably my favorite--a really good thin crust pizza with a perfect crust. The meatballs were served on a bed of really creamy polenta that was cheesy and perfectly seasoned. I ordered the Florida Red Grouper that was served over lentils. It was so perfect--a nice sear and crispy skin with moist, tender meat underneath. The lentils were a little on the salty side but the fish was the main star. I also ordered a side of broccolini and it was the best broccolini I have ever had. It was roasted and the slight charred, smoky flavor on the broccolini was divine. I will be honest--we also ordered four or five desserts but I can't even remember what we ate. All I know is that nothing was left on the plates. The service was great--there was never a time when we needed anything. Our server was on top of things, constantly refilling beverages, bringing food, clearing the table. First -Jared is an amazing waiter. My wife, daughter, and myself all agree. Once you get past the awesomeness that is Jared you are taken on a culinary journey of texture, flavor, and presentation. We had an early dinner so decided to try antipastos and dolce last night. The Foie Gras on Pumpkin French Toast was fantastic and the grilled octopus was everything it promised to be. For dessert the apple crustatta was light and flaky while the cheesecake tiramisu was as promised: as if it fell from the sky. We returned to try the entrees. While veal saltimbocca will remain my favorite of the saltimboccas their pork version held up with fresh black pepper undertones and tender pork cuts and creamy mash. We all went in a different direction with the desserts which again impressed. The carrot cake was light, moist, and delicious an very nice departure from the traditional dense/heavy offerings we are accustomed to. They do need to work on their espresso. Both nights I had a double and both were very bitter with no crema. Primo currently exists in Maine and Florida. If you are in the area give it a try. read more

Nice ambiance at the JW, but the ambiance is the best thing about this restaurant. Food was average at best. Sadly, the tastiest item at our table was our sons pizza. The salad I had was underwhelming, as was the squid ink pasta my husband ate. Kids meals are $20+ and they nickel and dime for bread. Our waiter brought to our table what we thought was complimentary bread (it is an Italian restaurant after all), but alas, they charge per person and don't mention the cost. When we brought it up, they couldn't have cared less. We still have another week at this hotel, so Uber eats it is. This place doesn't deserve a second visit. read more

We were celebrating a birthday, and had a great time. We ordered the burrata and bread service to start, and both were amazing. I had a bottle of Prosecco to nurse throughout dinner. We ordered the pork saltimbocca and i subbed out mashed potatoes for pasta. Quite salty for my liking but still enjoyable. The octopus a la plancha was the real showstopper of the evening. Beautifully plated and stunning flavors. I wish every dish they served was this intricate and well planned. Dessert was enjoyable, sweet cannoli and a mini lava cake for the birthday which was scrumptious, and a chocolate dessert i had seen on Instagram. Overall really enjoyable. read more

Loved this place! Great choice when you want to try a few different things. I was so hungry I didn't get a chance to take pictures. I devoured everything as soon as it arrived. Came here with my co-worker while on a business trip. We ordered a few appetizers. The Meatballs, Bruschetta, Beet Salad. The Meatballs were in a bed of yellow polenta, roasted corn, sprinkled with Pecorino Romano & a fresh red sauce. It's was delicious. The Bruschetta has caramelized onions, goat & feta cheese, slices of pear, prosciutto and arugula drizzled with balsamic vinegar. Yummy!! The Beet salad was good. The horseradish cottage cheese is added to the marinated beets and the beet purée. The cottage cheese was so different. I never had that in a beer salad and loved how it had a own flavor yet it complimented the dish. It was topped with arugula and a honey dijon vinaigrette. 12 years since my last review of this place? How time flies! I believe they updated the decor, and it's light, relaxing, and inviting. The service is approachable, yet knowledgeable, and they explained the menu and each of the dishes professionally. We started with the octopus, served warm in a small salad with spicy chorizo slices and a purple potato (or something that resembled such a root). Absolutely delicious and perfectly prepared. For mains, we had the pasta bolognese - a fresh take on a classic dish - and their house specialty Pork saltimbocca. Both were perfectly executed and balanced in flavor. The wine list is well thought out, and there is enough choice in wines by the glass to please any sort of connoisseur. Loved the food and atmosphere! read more

The food was OK, but the price tag certainly warranted better than OK. Pizza crust was chewy and the pasta sauces were Americanized (could have been at Carrabbas and saved some money), but the arancini were very tasty, but small. The service was awful, from not having the correct height highchair for the odd height "high top" tables, to the unconcerned manager, and the wait staff that spent more time talking to each other in the corner than attending to the table (dishes were not cleared, water not refilled, etc.) without asking. The original location is being renovated so we were in the Citron location which is a little outdated, but the new renovation promise an ambiance that matches the food. The food was just amazing. Service was prompt. We were a table of four with two kids. They are child friendly. The kids loved their food and wiped their plates completely, which by itself says a lot. We tried the farmer salad for an appetizer. The ingredients are all farm to table and it shows. The salad was perfection. For an entree I had the short rib fettuccini, which is not a classic fettuccini. It was delicious. The short rib was cooked perfectly, tasted wonderful and the pasta was great. My wife had the potato truffle pasta which also was delicious and had a unique flavor. Dessert was also delicious. Overall reasonable prices. The food and the service were impeccable. Although the ambience here is not as fine as at the adjoining Ritz Carlton, the wait staff more than makes up for it with their fine service and accommodating attitude m. I had an idea to modify the entrée and change the sides to something that wasn't even on the menu and they not only accommodated my requests but were excited to try them out. It came out great as did everything else we ordered. The tiramisu and coffee were the perfect finish to the meal. Although it feels a bit like a Las Vegas restaurant with an Italian theme, but without the slot machine noises wafting in from the casino next door, the deliciousness of the food and the attentiveness of our server Alexis make it well worth the long and winding walk over from the Ritz to see how the other half lives. read more

Amazing meal all around! I came here with my boyfriend during our stay at the Ritz. In particular, service was the right amount of attentiveness all around, which really made the night. The bread basket to start with was to die for, especially the focaccia! Our server even brought us an extra plate of just focaccia :) To start, we had the antipasti - the dish was very sizeable, enough for probably 4 people to share! I had the lobster fettuccine entree - amazing pasta and amazing dish, with all of my favorite ingredients: shrimp, lobster, and mushrooms. They were also accommodating of my request to exclude the bacon. We thought we were too full for dessert, but our server was kind enough to bring us some complementary small pastries from the kitchen! Wonderful way to end the night. The restaurant is beautiful and the service is impeccable. That said the restaurant is listed as casual but I heard the host make a comment as my husband shuffled out in his sandals. That was all he brought and we dined early. This is a resort hotel and I did notice other people dressed in a cotton shirt as my husband but I felt embarrassed and this left a bad "taste" in my mouth. We had the anti pasta misti ($17) which was a wonderful and varied selection. This was an appetizer that could easily be shared by 4 people. Both my husband and I had the pork saltimbocca ($36) which was tasty and you get a large portion. The mushroom gravy is the star here. My husband did not like that the spinach was layered in with the mashed and pork. The desserts were cryptic. The fig cobbler was really a bread pudding according to our waiter. The zeppoles were just ok so we left some on the plate. The lemon Napoleon seemed to be the winner. The dessert selection was just ok. The signature dessert is cannoli, but I don like marscapone cheese.so we went with the seasonal selections. For about the same money I would recommend Norman's in the adjacent hotel over this restaurant. They give you more of a reason to dress up. Big picture, as various other reviews note in detail, this place has a lot going for it. Many uniquely cooked items, interesting cocktails, great apps, and very good service. Also nice that the menu is limited, but with adequate variety, so you are not overwhelmed and the staff can concentrate on what they are best at. That said, several of us ordered the red snapper and one ordered the swordfish (never order swordfish in a restaurant that doesn't specialize in fish, and even then know your chances of it being cooked well are limited). The snapper was a bit overcooked, which was disappointing. On the swordfish, my partner ordered it over my recommendations not to when the waiter ensured her it was a thick cut and would be moist. It wasn't either and was sent back. The replacement was the same, so she just ate it. (We grill swordfish twice a week in summer. We know what good, properly cooked swordfish should taste like.) Moral of the story: Lot's of good options at this restaurant. Avoid the fish as they don't really seem to know how to cook it. read more

Pricey hotel food is usually not something I like but I was pleasantly surprised by Primo. Service at the bar was exceptional, food was fantastic, and the atmosphere was pretty nice. I'm not much of a food critic and I don't know enough flowery prose to sell you on the fine dishes at Primo so you'll just have to believe me when I say that I was skeptical when I first looked at the menu but by the end of our meal, I was glad to be wrong about this place. I was there with a couple of colleagues from work. The service was excellent and same with the food. They make a mean dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives. The Tuscan Bean Soup was perfect. I then had the Halibut which deliciously crispy on the skin side. It was served with little multi colored fingerling potatoes, which were cooked just right. The boys shared a charcuterie platter with 3 different cheese and three different meats, served with honeycomb, rosemary salted almond, cranberries and olives. All was very good quality. then they had the Beef & Pork Bolognese. They changed it from the Wild Boar Bolognese, but they said it was just as good. For dessert, I have the Strawberry Tiramisu for dessert and it was amazing. Soft, moist and flavourful without being too sweet. Looking forward to our next trip. read more

This is my favourite on-resort dining option at the Ritz Carlton / JW Marriott Grande Lakes Orlando. Reservations are a good idea since this place is busy most nights. We've been several times and always enjoyed our meals. As a vegetarian often times I'll just order a Chef's Vegetarian Special, which is basically seasonal veggies with a grain (like risotto)...Its very delicious. We also like the mixed grill vegetables, the margarita pizza and Mahi Mahi. Service is always good and one of the very best features about this restaurant is that they grow their own fresh herbs in a private garden located right in front of the restaurant. Higher end Italian restaurant in the JW MARRIOTT Grande Lakes. I am staying for a conference and my friend really wanted pasta. We sat at the bar. The bartender was friendly. She got the lobster fettuccini which I tasted and it was very good. It wasn't too creamy, the noodles appeared to be made in house, the portion size was just right and it packed a lot of lobster and shrimp. We also got the bruschetta which had nice flavor with fig and balsamic. They have an assorted bread service with olive oil. The prices are indicative of the location. Enjoy! read more

Okay folks, this is a wow, wow, WOW restaurant. I was staying on the property for a meeting and the last night a party of seven of us got dinner here. It all starts with the staff, so applauds there, great staff, top to bottom. First of all, I knew it would be special because when I was taking a stroll I came upon the backside of the restaurant and observed their wondering garden. It gave me an inkling of what I was in store for. Started with the meatballs--They come in three's, don't plan on sharing. You will want all three. Bread and olive oil were good. We also got a mixed meat and cheese platter that also had a honeycomb. So good. I carefully went over the menu and decided on the lobster fettuccine with crab. It had a longer. more pretentious name, but I don't have a menu in front of me. All I can say is this was one of the top 3 seafood dishes I have ever had! It comes with three big crusted shrimp on top that are delectable. This dish must have had almost a pound of lobster in it, so that was surprising as well. But the jena se qua in this dish is it's subtle yet present spices. I would not call it a spicy dish, but I would not call it a non-spicy dish either. It has the certain indescribable collation of ingredients that entice but not overwhelm. I felt it just had such wonderful balance. The lobster was cooked correctly, the shrimp was cooked perfectly. WOW Not one person in our party was not super pleased. Duck was great, pork was great, pizza was great and the steak was great. I did not hear a single word of the negative from any of our party. So that is rare and worth the time to write this review. I am a Platinum Elite with Marriott, so there is a good chance I will come back to this property and if I do, you can bet where I will be eating dinner. read more

The family and I are spending the weekend in Orlando at JW Marriott Grande Lakes. We decided to stay on property for the night and dined at Primo. What a fantastic restaurant! Primo does not feel like a typical hotel restaurant - I would say it is a destination restaurant. The Butter squash soup was excellent and the Lobster Aglio e Olio Fettuccine is one of the best dishes I have had. The family raved about their dishes also.
