I attended an educational conference sponsored happy hour at Taffer's Tavern this week. The service was amazing and the food was absolutely delicious! Their Irish roast beef sliders were tender and topped with just the right amount of whole mustard. The flatbread pizzas were flavorful and seasoned with a hint of red pepper flakes that surprised me! Now I'm not a sweet drink lover, so the signature drink was too sweet for me. However, my coworker ordered two and enjoyed them. I opted for the Bulletin Place Pinot Grigio and it hit the spot! This is my second attempt at enjoying Taffer's Tavern and I want to start this review with saying how magnificent the staff was! Our waiter Kellen was so great, recommended the flatbread app which was the highlight of the stop, and was just beyond pleasant. The GM Steven came over and introduced himself and chatted for a while as well once we got our drinks and he too was a standout in what would be a relatively lackluster experience. The tavern is really gorgeous and the seating is well done and comfortable. Where everything seems to struggle is the overall execution of concept and menu. After years of watching Taffer yell and scream about quality, I expect top notch cocktails and food. I have become sorely disappointed in both. We stopped in for Happy Hour and each grabbed a cocktail, my wife got the Cloud 9 and I got Taffer's Spiked Lemonade. Both drinks are $17 and frankly have no right being anywhere near that price point. The lemonade is at best a 6oz drink and was certainly the better of the two drinks. The Cloud 9 was oddly funky and almost had a brown sugary taste that was just out of place with the ingredients. While the GM offered to remake it we just powered through. The Figtastic Flatbread was both fantastic and slightly disappointing. The flavor was AMAZING, the cheese had just enough funk to offset the sweetness of the fig and slightly tart balsamic. The only bummer was how under done the flatbread itself was. It had a little crisp along the edges but remained pretty floppy throughout. At the end of the day a half priced flatbread and two cocktails ran just over $42 and that's kind of wild. Went here for a friend's birthday. We were part of a large party and service was good considering the size of our group. My wife got the steak frites and I got the Italian chop salad. Both were above average when you take into account $30 for the steak and $22 for the salad. This place is expensive. I wasn't drinking, nor was my wife. However, everyone else that did get drinks said they were great. Again, you will wince at the price of $18 for a mixed drink more than likely. I'm a fan of Taffer because he basically invented NFL Sunday Ticket and his show on Spike is fun. I am glad I got to experience going there once. One issue I have a massive problem with is their policy on gratuity for large parties. Mandatory gratuity? Makes sense. Making that mandatory gratuity 20%? Pushing it, but okay. Calculating that mandatory gratuity on the post-tax total? That's greed. I will not be returning based on this alone. They even have the gall to ask for an ADDITIONAL tip after that. read more

The service was excellent by Cole. The steak frites... The fries were good, but the his steak was not so good. I would give it a four out of 10. For 30 bucks. It should've been excellent. My grandson had a burger and he said it was cool, but we had to send the bacon back to have it actually cooked. Everybody else in my party of eight said their food was pretty mediocre. My boyfriend and I had horrible service. He got the Guinness fish and chips and the first time he received the food it wasn't cooked all the way and had raw batter. We waited over 10 minutes to get it sent back and eventually I got up and had to ask the host to get our waitress. He then got it remade and it came back with raw batter again. Was in Orlando on business and was pleased to see Taffer's Tavern across the street. I have seen his show on TV many times, so I surmised that this would be excellent. Inside, the decor is very welcoming and warming. I sat at the bar in some very comfy bar seats. Chatted with the bartender a bit about the signature drinks and decided on the Campfire. This was a take on the popular smoked old fashioned. Instead of the smoke in the drink, it's served beside the drink, hence giving one a sense of sitting by a campfire. The drink was made with brown butter washed bourbon which gave the drink a nice velvety texture. I ordered the double fried wings with traditional hot sauce. It's nice that they come with celery and carrots with the choice of blue cheese or ranch dressing. I was disappointed in the wings because they were far from double fried. They should have been extra, extra crispy and they were just average. Went back the next night and had the Pork Belly Skewers and they were excellent. They had a spicy bulgogi glaze and were cooked perfectly. All in all, a good place. I will go back on my next trip to Orlando. read more

Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by the hostess and seated immediately. The restaurant has a really nice ambience and I really enjoyed their selection of music that was playing at the time. We ordered the figtastic flatbread as an appetizer and then had the steak frites, subbed the fries for coleslaw, and the bourbon burger as our entrees. I really enjoyed the figtastic flatbread because the flavors were savory and sweet and everything on there paired really well together. The steak frites and bourbon burger were really nothing too special in my opinion. The burger tasted pretty normal despite having the browned butter bourbon signature sauce and the steak frites is exactly what you would expect it to be. The only real downside was the service. Although we were seated immediately, it took us a while to get waters and the menu. Our server was kind of inattentive and was not too present during our time there. We didn't even have silverware whenever our food came out and couldn't find our server to flag him down, so we had to flag someone else down. I've been meaning to try this spot since it opened because well Mr.Taffers joint and the drink variety here. The s'mores cocktail was great, the sliders and wings were flavorful, and the coleslaw was a nice surprise without being overly heavy on the mayonnaise dressing. Alright, I'll start by saying it's the grand opening, I've helped launch a couple of restaurants, so I understand the growing pains that happen in the first few weeks. Walking in, everything looked great, it's a smaller dining room than expected, but it's fine. They have outdoor patio seats as well. Perfect for a nice fall night. The dining room was very clean, the bar was very impressive looking. We had reservations, so the very friendly hostess showed us to our table. It did take a little time until someone checked on us. Again, opening night, not a big deal. Our waiter finally came over. Unfortunately I didn't catch his name, but he was working hard and did a good job. Our cocktails were really good. We started off with pork belly skewers and deviled eggs. (I took pictures, but they didn't turn out well) We had another round of drinks to change it. Wife got the tequila one, I forgot the name, but it was excellent. Served with a mini sombrero as a garnish. Good times. After all of that we had the sticky toffees for dessert, nice brownie underneath. It was very good. Overall, I'll stick with 3-3.5 stars. The place was clean , as were the bathrooms. It had a hip, but comfortable vibe. Granted this is our first time here, and being fans of Jon Taffer's, we will definitely be back and try a couple of other items. read more

So, I'm torn writing this review knowing John Taffer is from Bar Rescue-- he goes berserk with bad service and restaurant faux pas. I was expecting perfection! To start, the restaurant is modern and has an elevated gastropub vibe. We sat down for a party of 6, and service from the get go had missteps. The server forgot to take one of my friend's order. When the drinks came - his beer was under poured and he didn't get 16 ounces of beer. (The manager, Steven, did make it right with another extra beer, which was nice). Another friend didn't get his coke. My brown butter old fashioned, although delicious, came many minutes late which ruined a nice toast for the table. Service, the hallmark of Bar Rescue's ire, just wasn't up to standards. I'm not going to bomb this review as the salmon sliders were delicious and it seemed everyone liked their food. The restaurant is beautiful. Very clean and aesthetically pleasing. Host and server were extremely friendly and helpful. Food was good. We got the whisky burger, chicken sandwich and our little one had pizza. They had good selection for kids overall. Whisky burger was delicious well seasoned and juicy. Ambiance - 5 For an upscale tavern the restaurant looks nice. Decent decor, nice atmosphere, comfortable chairs and a decent amount of table space even for 2. The customers looked happy, the bar was full and it was good vibes from what I saw. I did not use the restrooms, but according to my husband the male bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Service - 4 Our host and server (Sean) were terrific! Attentive, friendly and provided decent recommendations. Steve the general manager even checked in with us a few times. Food - 3 The food was good! It took a long time but seeing as this was just opened yesterday we were expecting a little longer for things to come out anyway and weren't bothered by this at all. We ordered deviled eggs and the pretzel to start. Highly recommend both and no complaints with these. For entrees we went with the other signature items on the menu, the steak frites (med rare) and the bourbon burger (med). Entrees took a while to come out and sadly we think the chefs mixed up our orders because my husbands burger came out a medium rare and my steak was more like a medium. We didn't want to return them because already waited a while. Before they arrived Sean and Steve both mentioned their apologies on the wait, and like we said we didn't mind this. We are not the type of people to send things back anyway, so we ate the entrees despite the mix up. I also ordered a side of Coleslaw.. it was refreshing and delicious. Drinks - 1.5 People complain about the strength of the pours a lot on social media but I don't think that's an issue. They tasted quite balanced and the flavor profiles were there. My issue is it was unfortunate to hear the "Taffer's tasters" was not available because apparently the night before all the glassware used for this was broken. I tried to order "The Prohibition" instead but it was also not available because it would take 15-20 minutes to prepare. I did try to order this about 20 minutes later but sadly I was told it still was not available. The drinks I did order and get to try were good, however I was left disappointed with some of the theatrics. The seasonal mule that was recommended to me was delicious but the cinnamon garish was unnecessarily provided table side. I felt sorry for the girl doing it because the cinnamon stick broke into small pieces all over as she was grating it and we ended up with more cinnamon on the table than in my drink. She didn't have a napkin or way to clean it so it wasn't until Sean (our server) came back and noticed the cinnamon to clean it off. Since I couldn't order the Prohibition for a second time I went with the Campfire. Outstanding drink! Tasted great but again, the theatrics felt unnecessary. There isn't a cover, so your cocktail is not smoked. The chips are just burned on the side, unnecessarily in my opinion. While it does give a nice Smokey smell around the table and probably to our neighbors it doesn't do anything for the cocktail itself. I think adding a cover to smoke it would be nice but if not I really think the chips are completely unnecessary. We opted not to get a dessert this time but to indulge my sweet tooth I ended the meal with the "Smoffee Martini." Once again great idea with presentation but poorly executed and unnecessary. The marshmallow only got heated on one side and tasted burnt while the other part of the marshmallow was uncooked and the chocolate unmelted. The drink itself again was stellar in flavor, sweet and balanced for a dessert drink. ADVICE TO CUSTOMERS: its the first week of opening so expect delays and hiccups. Try the signature apps, they are great! To those wondering, we spent about $150+ for 3 cocktails, 2 apps and 2 entrees and if price is an issue for you, keep in mind it's an UPSCALE tavern. It's not priced improperly, the quality is there. ADVICE TO THE RESTAURANT: The food and cocktails do taste good.. beverage presentation needs work. The salmon sliders and the season marg were both out. Started with the campfire cocktail and it was delicious. I'd buy a bottle if they sold it. Because I really wanted to try this bar because we're fans of Jon Taffer. Ordered the pork appetizer. It was great. Ordered the cheesesteak terrible. Again there was nobody there and we got up to get what we needed for utensils and salt and pepper. The wait staff was inattentive. Would not recommend. Too many good restaurants in Orlando. First off the service was great and the server was friendly and helpful. I ordered the campfire old fashioned which was great. Side ordering the campfire I also got a flatbread. Where it went down hill was when I asked for the check. I was told there is a 20 percent automatic gratuity add to the bill. I never had that for 1 person. For the guy who fixes bars, the service here needs fixing. No more than 12 people in the place and food almost took an hour.

We went to Taffer's Tavern for the first time with the family and unfortunately it ended up being a pretty disappointing experience. The burgers were very charred on the outside, to the point where the flavor was dominated by the burnt crust rather than the meat itself. The Taffer's Chicken was also a letdown -- the chicken was dry and tough, and the sauce had an odd flavor that didn't really work. I ordered the steak frites and while the steak was cooked to the correct temperature, the texture was extremely chewy. Almost every bite required so much chewing that I ended up having to spit small pieces out because it just wasn't enjoyable to eat. Not everything was bad though. The Caesar salad looked great and our son said it tasted very good. The fries were also excellent and probably the best part of the meal. Service started off strong but became pretty spotty as the night went on. Toward the end we found ourselves looking around for our server several times when we needed something. Overall, it was a disappointing first visit. With the food quality and service issues we experienced, it's unlikely that we'll be returning. read more

The entire restaurant was clean and welcoming, but the bar....spotless! Hats off to the attentive staff and to the chefs, a big hug! The food was delicious. The reason for the review, when I received my bill there was an 18% gratuity added on to the bill for a party of two. I didn't appreciate this at all. Serious disappointment. Service and atmosphere were a 1, my drink was made wrong and served in a small (not the right glassware) glass. After that I decided to leave and go to one of the bars next to it. Wow what a difference, my drink was made correctly, I was offered bread, I ordered dinner and the bartender was amazing.
