Ok, we're trying to support our local restaurants but this is nuts. $13.23 for 2 blueberry pancakes and one thin sausage patty??? Not to mention they left out the blueberries. The manager offered to remake the pancakes but I just asked for a refund, got 3 pancakes and sausage at McDonalds for $4.09 which looked just as good. I only had the carrot cake. A great carrot cake, very moist. Remember, it starts with the cake. Yes, this has the traditional cream cheese frosting, nice. This place is great. Good home style meals at reasonable prices. The fried chicken is the best! The service is spectacular. Lots of side dishes to choose from. My personal favorites are the black eyed peas, Mac & cheese, mash potatoes, and rice. I also love the cornbread muffins. My girlfriend is a huge fan of the strawberry cake. I'm a really really big fan of Primos. I have and always will love it. I grew up in Jackson and have since moved away but it will always have a special place in my heart. The variety of options are one of my favorite part of the restaurant. They have everything from Grits for breakfast to club sandwiches to Southern cooking vegetable plates. And on top of it all it's VERY affordable especially given the convenience and how fast your food arrives. Also the Iced Tea might be my favorite in Jackson. The absolute best part about Primos is the bakery. The caramel cake is my one vice in life. How I miss the smooth, light, and airy caramel cake. I'm getting hungry just writing this. All in all I strongly encourage you to go! Generally good food. Service is not in their business model. Pay at the counter when you walk in the door. NO table service. But your receipt will most certainly have a line for tip. Don't do it. You'll regret it! Pay at the counter, Help your self to beverages, condiments, napkins, refills. No one will ever ask you how the food was, drink refills, etc. Basically, Breakfast should not take 35 minutes to hit the table Luke warm when 75 % of the tables are empty. While in Jackson, I was looking for a local restaurant. After reading Primo's website I decided this was a great local option. When we walked in the T-shirts said, southern food for city folk. Which is me so I felt like I fit in perfectly. Came in for lunch on a Thursday with a coworker because it was Thursday. And on Thursday they serve fried chicken. We came in and there was a large clump of people trying to form a line to order at the counter. I wish they would have some kind of ropes set up to make it more organized. After ordering all the tables were full so we sat at the bar. This actually was kinda fun because we got to see all the food come out. I ordered the fried chicken with cole slaw and mac and cheese. The fried chicken was so juicy and crispy on the outside! I highly recommend it. The cole slaw was refreshing. The mac and cheese was ok. We also got chocolate cake to go, it was heavenly!!! So rich and delicious. If you are in a hurry, there is a fridge with food to go including dessert. Primos is a great option for a quick lunch. read more

Recently my family and I decided to stop at Primos for breakfast after attending a morning event. Keep in mind I have been a Primos customer for years, buying their cakes, lunches, pies etc. Even though I stopped buying their cakes and pies due to quality failing I still decided to try their breakfast. The service was the worst I ever seen from any Primos location. The lady at the counter basically tried to rush every one in my family to order, very rude. So rude that I was ready to take my business elsewhere. The food took a while to be served and it was bland. No one in my party finished their plates. This place is great! I'm gonna get honest with you Yelpers and admit I've never ordered off the lunch or dinner menu at Primos. I've been a million times and either get breakfast or dessert. (Not a bad way to live, in my opinion.) The cheese grits are divine. My friends and I get cravings for them and have yet to replicate them in the kitchen. They are so creamy and fluffy at the same time while tasty so perfectly cheesy and buttery. How do they do it? And their bacon and pancakes are good, too. The syrup is brought out in an individual package (weird). Their desserts are really good too! Good for meeting up for something sweet instead of coffee. The absolute best thing about Primo's is the atmosphere. Everyone from all walks of life and ages is eating there. You have business men and women, young couples, older couples, families with kids, and teenagers all hanging out. And you can hang out! It's one of those places where people feel comfortable sitting around for 2-3 hours and enjoying themselves, talking, and/or just reading the newspaper (old school, I know). So check it out! This place came very highly recommended by a fellow patron and an employee of the hotel we are in tonight. It's a local independent mom and pop diner. Apparently it's been around a while. You order from the counter and your food is brought to you but there is no server. We were on our own for drinks, condiments.... They serve a basic diner menu. All day breakfast, sandwiches, salads, fried food and a blue plate special daily. My daughter wanted the pancakes and sausage. No kids meal for breakfast so 3 pancakes and a single piece of sausage was $8.00. She liked it. My son ate one of the pancakes and said it was pretty good. Not 8 bucks good. My son went with a sandwich and fries for $10.00. Think it was called the Eagle... with bacon ham and turkey. Not an over stuffed deli sandwich. Modest amounts of each of the meats with a little cheese. It was an ok sandwich nothing special. Fries are Arby's curly fries which he liked. I went blue plate with Mississippi fried catfish, purple hull peas and turnip greens with a cornbread muffin for $9.50. The catfish was thin strips they were ok. The purple hull peas were actually canned black eyed peas and the turnip greens were bland from frozen. The tater sauce was the best thing about my meal. It was house made and looked like honey mustard, but had a mild kick as if they added mustard and a few special ingredients to it. It was good. My son saw someone else's onion rings and needed an order. So I went back to the counter and ordered a small. They were fresh house made and piping hot. They came with a sauce I didn't care for but the onion rings themselves were good and far and away the best item on the table. A lady brought our onion rings. She was far more friendly and personable than the person that brought our meal. She asked if she could give my daughter a cookie. So my daughter went with her to pick one out. She was nice and likely in management. I saw her bring out a few orders and her demeanor was much better than the other people bringing out orders. Night and day difference. It was a nice gesture. Had lunch here for the first time after driving by weekly on our trip to the grocery store. The dinner was clean and the staff was really friendly. I ordered the Biloxi express (aka shirmp poboy) and girlfriend ordered the gumbo. The bread of the shirmp po boy was amazing. Pillow soft with a nice crunch on the outside. The popcorn shirmp was just the right size with enough batter. The gumbo was 6/10 and it was only luke warm when it was brought out to us. The corn bread it came with was great though. Next time I'm gonna be trying the dessert menu! Also this particular primo is pretty quite mid afternoon and would probably make a nice study dinner since the booth is very comfortable and there are outlets for most booth. If blue plate isn't your thing, they have a traditional menu, with salads, burgers, and other items to choose from. Myself and some colleagues had a business conference in Jackson, and when Primos came up on Yelp we all decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed. The place was pleasantly busy when we pulled up, but the line to order was pretty short. Loved the atmosphere - very cafe/diner type experience with a little bit of 50's flair. It's a sitdown/takeout place, so you order at the counter and they will bring the food to your table when it's done. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Since we hadn't been before, they were giving recommendations on the menu. The menu had nice variety without being overwhelming. I ended up ordering their "Biloxi Press", which is a fried shrimp po'boy. Admittedly, it was not the literally best po'boy I've ever had (New Orleans has that pleasure), but I definitely enjoyed my meal. I was particularly pleased at the fresh ingredients. The tomato slices were super thick and fresh. We didn't try it, but this place also has a bakery on the other side from the diner. Everything in the counter looked spectacular, so if it's as good as it looks, then I'm sure the baked goods are tasty. read more

For some reason, we always forget about this Primos location on Lake Harbour - but when we go we always say "why don't we come here more often?" The service is Southern sweet, the food is Southern delicious - you can't go wrong. It's also a great place to get catering, pick up a family meal to go or pick up a dessert! Good breakfast place; not perfect but enjoyable. Been a few times. Coffee was pretty bad last time but it's very rare to get good coffee at breakfast places so I don't really hold it against them. Like their pancakes because they are tasty and great at absorbing syrup. Otherwise usually order eggs, bacon, grits, and toast. Everything else has been good.
