    Chocolate Cake

One thing for sure when you leave this place is that you will be stuffed full of good food! My husband and I relocated here from Texas. My husband is from a Mexican heritage and grew up around authentic Mexican food. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the music adds to the ambiance. Our food portions were generous and our entrees were served warm and fast. Our waitress was very nice and friendly. She recommended a great chocolate cake to top off our Dinner with. It's a great place to stop for a delicious Mexican meal.

HORRIBLE customer service. I called multiple times only to be put on hold every time. I have been on hold twice for over 15 minutes.

If your from the west cost you will quickly realize this is not true Mexican food. It's a clean environment but overpriced and not amazing.

Immediately, we all looked at each other and knew we made the right choice for dinner! My friends ordered the bolognese that was on special and I had the manicotti. To be honest, I never order manicotti, but a friend said that's her usual Italian go-to meal so I ordered it. I loved Pete's manicotti!! Their sauce was a great consistency. I hate when it's too watery, and theirs certainly was not. It tasted fresh and it was piping hot out the oven. The two meatballs were like the size of my palms and also well seasoned. The bread that came was warm and fluffy. My friends both enjoyed their bolognese and we all had enough for leftovers. I regularly order espresso martinis and I very much enjoyed Pete's! So much so that I had two. Sadly, I was not able to snap any pics because we were enjoying each other's company and the food so much. Reservations are highly encouraged. The lighting was cozy and warm, and it led to some special conversation. If you're in Watertown, then give Pete's Trattoria a try! You won't be sorry.

I had the spaghetti aglio olio, with shrimp added. Perfectly cooked pasta, with just the right amount of heat in the oil. Shrimp were perfect cooked as well. Portion size was JUST RIGHT. She had the Artic Char. Wow. The grilled veggies were divine, and the mashed potatoes that the fillet was sitting on had the perfect melt in your mouth to texture. A great plate of food! Everything was excellent, from the elevated service, to the decor, to the music, to the cozy and elegant ambiance....and the food blew us all away! You don't always expect to be full when you leave a nicer restaurant, but Riva was an exception- the portions were generous. The sourdough was delectable, the caprese ingredients were fresh and colorful, and my pasta was hearty and full of vegetables. The chicken breast I ordered to go with my pasta was moist, but bland- perhaps blackening it or simply adding more seasoning would help. My husband's pizza was sooo garlicky (in the best way possible!), and the crust was an ideal texture and chewiness. My mother in law ordered the fish of the day, which was salmon with a mint cauliflower puree and asparagus- it was delectable! My father in law ordered the spaghetti aglio e olio and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were so satisfied when we left, but wish we had left some room to sample their desserts. If/when we return to the area, we will most certainly be visiting Riva again!

Such a shame because this place should be 5 stars, but the service lacks refinement and maturity…read more We went twice in the last two weeks. First time would have been ok, but we were seated by the exterior patio door, which was extremely loud and jarring every time it closed, which was every 10 seconds. It was very hard to enjoy our dinner with that banging that echoed throughout the exposed ductwork. Second experience started out fine, we were there for drinks and dessert, asked to be seated outside and they put us at a high top in the corner. We were sitting there about 10 minutes when a teenaged boy very loudly told us they made a mistake and that we had to move....literally everyone around us stopped their conversations and stared. So we moved to where we were instructed to go. THEN we were told to move AGAIN. Come on. We told the boy that he was embarrassingly loud and he immediately got defensive and wanted to go "ask everyone" if he was loud. Unreal. When we left we told the manager that this was inappropriate and she blamed us. We told her about the obnoxious loud door and she said that it's been that way for 8 years Overall, the food and drinks are fine, atmosphere would be great except the noise of the exposed ducts, and the service is despicable.

That's just the weirds stuff that I like... the FOCACCIA -- they're baking it right there! There's only two sandwiches. This is a GOOD THING... meat or veggie. Apart from amazing -- small detail: romaine, crispy, super fresh... the meats and veggie patty: great recipe. This all before mentioning their namesake dish... pasta... six feet away from the baking, a lady pulling noodles out of a pasta machine, which I'll have to experience next time.

Since moving to Toronto, I miss Pasta Genova deeply…read more They have some of the very best focaccia anywhere, which alone is enough to recommend them. But they also have nearly peerless homemade pastas (of which the smoked paprika linguine is my favourite, though they often only make it by request), spectacular prepared sauces, and regular specials on essentials that will get you things like premium olive oil or balsamic vinegar* at supermarket prices. * Genova is one of the few places I've regularly found a variety of pure, aged balsamic vinegar free from sulphites. AWESOME. So, here's some tips: 1) They ONLY TAKE CASH, no exceptions. I once witnessed a woman curse them out for this fact and declare she'd tell all her friends not to shop there; when she left, everyone in the tiny shop, myself included, burst out laughing, and one of the guys declared "we can barely keep up with the customers we have, we don't need her!". Very jovial, and they took her bitch-fest so perfectly in-stride they could give lessons on how to turn the other cheek. 2) If you need a quick lunch, pick up a focaccia sandwich -- they're about $4 if memory serves, with salami, lettuce, tomato, and mustard, and they're fantastic! If you want to suddenly realize you're hungry, walk down Wellington around 11:00am for the wafting glory of baking focaccia and just try to resist the pull. 3) When ordering pasta instead of ordering by weight, order by serving size. Say things like "I'm having a dinner party for six, four big eaters and two regular", and they'll give you an incredibly accurate amount of what you need, plus a little extra (because people WILL want seconds, believe me!). 4) Their homemade calabrese olives are out of this world good. They use a puree of oil-marinated chilis, oregano, fennel (I think), and oil, and very, very good sun cured olives... and damn, these things are so good I eat them until I hurt. 5) Ask what's on special, or if they have any leftovers. I've scored half servings of pasta, day old (but still delicious) focaccia, and nearly expired but still awesome cheese for cheap. Finally, I'll also mention that the staff here are fabulous -- very nice people who greet with a smile, always bid a good day, and work diligently to help provide you with exactly what you need to hit a homerun with whatever it is you're cooking. Only downside: Toronto Maple Leaf fans. Egads!
