Unfortunately this place has lost its touch since opening. Food used to be really good. Last few times it hasn't been good at all. One time I ordered the fish tacos, which I have had before when they opened and they were really good, and they were terrible. The fish was so fishy and gross I only ate one bite and left the plate as it was. I'm not one to complain and make a scene. I was disappointed that the waiter came and gave us the bill and took the plate and never asked if anything was wrong or if the food was ok after seeing that I didn't eat any of it. I know I could have said something, but I didn't see the point at that time. That was prob the 3rd time we went and the foot was terrible so I just noted that we wouldn't go back. Which stinks cause it's a cool place. Also, it takes FOREVER to get the bill, to pay, and to leave. I have to ask for the bill (waiter disappears for 10 mins), they bring the bill (waiter disappears for 10 mins), they take my card to pay (waiter disappears for 10 mins). I felt really bad cause there's usually people waiting to be seated and we're just sitting there ready to leave for 20-30 mins. read more

This was our first time eating at Primo's and if it were not for Yelp we probably would never had found it. This gem is off the beaten path in a newer area of Ripon and am so glad it was suggested by Yelp. The place was very clean, the staff were so welcoming and attentive. I tried Ramon's Favorite and it was pleasantly good. Not spicey so if you are looking for something with some heat this dish may not be for you. But the flavors were so refreshing and a great portion. Hubby had the Tacos De Calle and he really enjoyed them. Their salsa is a green sweet salsa, not much heat to it, that would be the only draw back for me. But overall it was a great meal and nice staff. read more

Drinks are good and that's pretty much the only thing. My rice was cold in some spots and warm in others. I got the garlic shrimp and even some of the shrimp were cold. We also got the street corn bowl and that was mediocre at best Definitely go from the drinks and chips and salsa but nothing else. read more

Great service, nice clean venue. Atmosphere is open and nice, newer. Food is good, but I was disappointed in the quesadilla. It was deep fried and too greasy to eat. I prefer the more traditional type. The Rollos were great - the marinated meat was exceptional. I guess guacamole can be made many different ways. Primos should consider adding more lime juice and some diced jalapeños for more depth. Over all good and we will return. read more

First time here, googled mexican food and tried this with my family. Very clean and big establishment. The chips, salsa and frijoles they give you v was delicious. Most importantly the food was amazing and big portions. My wife ordered milanesa and it was so good and bigger then the plate. I ordered the señor burrito (el pastor) and only finished half but the pastor was tender and very flavorful. The service was amazing very attentive and friendly. Maggy helped us and was very kind. The price wasn't bad pretty average 17 to $20 a plate. Definitely have to come back for the happy hour. read more

We have some friends who know the owner so we were excited to try it out. The place is very open, with not really any privacy or booths. The waitress was nice. We had 4 cocktails and all 4 were REALLY BAD. The Paloma, Oaxacan Lemonade, and 2 Blackberry (Lol) Margaritas. The supposedly Blackberry margaritas were made with grenadine syrup. Too syrupy. The Paloma was very sour. The Lemonade was just plain nasty tasting. Not sure why these drinks were so bad, but probably the worst cocktails we've ever had. I got shrimp tacos and they were ok. The purple cabbage on them was extremely bitter so I took it off. My husband got the asada tacos and they were pretty good. The green salsa was just ok, and the "red" salsa tasted like fish (per my hubby!!). The chips were store bought. Overall, there was absolutely nothing that would cause us to return. read more

Dropped in here for lunch. First time here. The menu online looked good and reviews were decent so thought we would give it a shot. This wasn't a destination thing. We saw it driving by earlier in the day. It's in a small strip center with a market, bakery, wine bar, coffee place and what looks like a very nice Italian restaurant. Back to Primo's. The bar has about 10 seats and the dining area is mix of high tops and regular tables. I ordered the tacos Cameron. 3 shrimp tacos with blue corn r beans. My partner ordered the El Senior Burrito. It's a massive shrimp burrito with rice, beans, guac, and veggies all wrapped up in a spinach tortilla with sour cream and guac driverless on top. It is truly a meal for 2. Now for the good stuff, the Tequila Bar. It is well stocked. Prolly one of best I've seen in awhile. Also other libations and beer by the bottle and in tap. I'm not sure who was "mixing up the medicine" behind the bar but he was killing it. It was pretty packed and the drinks were coming up at the pickup station 4 to 6 at a time. The whole staff here is great and the bartender makes sure you're glass is never empty, and we were sitting at a high top. What a find! I am super picky when it comes to Mexican food and this place did not disappoint. The ambience is a chic modern Mexican restaurant where people are dressed casual or date night. Service from walking in to leaving was excellent. Food was excellent. Super authentic. If I can make it better at home I don't like eating at Mexican restaurants but this place is home made but with a few twists. Had the Jimmie? relleno which is a creamy green sauced filled with cheese and ground beef authentically stuffed in a poblano pepper. My bf had the molcajete and it was amazing! My sister ordered the coctele de camarones and she liked it. My nephew had the child taco with fries and they're fried in lard super tasty. My sister wanted more tacos after trying my nephew's lol. Only criticism would be is I think they can improve their queso fundido and their mango margaritas. The mango margarita tastes like a lime margarita they need to amp up their mango. Went in for lunch with my husband. At first he thought it was pretty pricy but carried on looking through the menu. He found the Roman's favorite and I ordered the camarones a la diabla. Servers and staff were prompt to bring out chips and salsa and refill our drinks promptly. The food came out and my husband was over the moon with the dish and said it was absolutely delicious, even shared some of it with me. I was unimpressed with the color of the shrimp sauce until I tried it, normally I see a darker sauce (probably roasted chilies) but it is a lighter colored sauce but it definitely had all the flavor and the kick I was looking for! All was absolutely delicious we definitely enjoyed our meals, we'll be back! Finally made it to this gem on my lunch today. Absolutely delicious. I love green salsa anything! Their chips come with a black bean purée and a green salsa! (with every bit of spiciness this Mexican was looking for). Ordered a Jamaica (hibiscus) water and green pozole. The menu and other pictures here made it hard to choose. The pozole was everything I ever expected, subtle heat and all the goodness a soup should deliver. The toppings to dress it on the side were perfect and the jalapeño contributed even more heat! (Toppings: raw jalapeño, onion, cabbage, avocado and lime) So delicious. Service was excellent (got there about 1220, it was fairly busy). I need to go back to try the menudo, the tacos and the camarones a la diabla. Oh! I am not a fan of the 'lite' mexican food that involves black beans instead of pinto or refried. The green and red sauces are a little lackluster. I wouldn't say no if invited there, I just wouldn't do the inviting. Now, if you're sensitive to the 'heavier' traditional ingredients such as flour, oils, grease, spices and sauces then maybe this place is a good place to try. Checked out the new place tonight. Everybody seemed to be enjoying the food and drinks. Our drinks seemed a bit light on the liquor but, it could have been from the basket of chips and salsa. Chips are light and crispy, the green salsa is just okay. The black bean purée is goooooood. I had the mahi mahi tacos. Fish was good, but the whole thing needed more zing, seasoning or something else. Rice was kinda dry but seasoned well. My wife like her primos bowl with the addition of more salsa. One thing they could do is to make the guacamole table side. For the price anyways... Place is nice, maybe a bit pricey, but if your adventurous I would recommend as a new place to check out. If we go back I want to try the molcajete. That's what seemed to be the hot thing to order along with a drink not on the menu called blackberry margarita. read more

Meh... hit or miss and hard to figure out why, so will just say very inconsistent. Some of my friends love it and some do not. Example is the queso fundido ... one time it's nice and creamy gooey cheese with tender meat and the next time you have to cut everything with a knife and the meat is like old jerky. read more

But my preference goes back to the burrito bowl with their Al Pastor meat. Please, do yourself a favor and try it. It's cooked right, some sweetness from the pineapple and spice. Their guacamole is delicious! Order it as an appetizer. They provide chips, salsa and black beans when the customer first arrives. Literally, i can have that as a meal.
