We had lunch here last week. We got there right after they opened, so there was no wait and we were one of the first in there. Staff was friendly, seated and served chips/salsa/bean dip quickly. Salsa has a kick to it for sure, but still so good. Food came and mine tasted delicious! We had ate here when it was Memos and was not impressed but now it was very good! We will be back for sure!

Modesto-There were three of us and funny enough, all three of us ordered the same entrée! The ambience of this place is very cool and very chic. Drinks were especially yummy, but I have a complaint about the drink menu....WAY TOO MANY choices! There were about six different drinks I wanted to try, but I narrowed it down to some coconut margaritas and left it at that. lol They were delicious. All of us had the shrimp quesadillas. Perfectly cooked and stuffed full of shrimp and cheese. Beans and rice were yummy as well. This is a restaurant that has been around Modesto for several years and they are consistently great. Service was not amazing, but the food was fantastic.

They really have decorated this place extremely well, the big mural as you enter dining area is incredible. Excellent service, my wife asked for a spicy sauce, waitress came back a while later and explained she added some dry chile de árbol to their spiciest salsa...game recognizes game!!! My wife can eat chile this waitress recognized that and made her a special one, it was apparently very good, i can't hang with my wife's spicy eating game so i won't attempt to try something that she thinks it's spicy, that's just painful. I ordered tampiquena plate and wife a chicken wet burrito which were both really good. Overall 4.5 stars for vibe, service and food. Will be coming back for sure. This would be a great place to watch a soccer or futbol game large tvs and very nice outdoor sitting area also.

We love coming here! We had the same as we normally but this time I had the shrimp tacos and peach drink. So good! The server of course was speed an friendly.

Overall enjoyable but not spectacular. We felt that when it was Memos, it was a bit better.

This review is for Las Casuelas on Sylvan Ave, the first time since it closed as Memos and re-opened under the new name. The decor seemed unchanged (nice, modern for the most part with private booths added.) My wife and I found the food of good quality, with an interesting, flavorful red pepper a part of the shrimp dish my wife had and I tasted. Not at all hot but added a nice flavor to the offering. The meal was standard fare overall, nothing to distinguish it from the three other such Mexican places within a 3/4 mile radius. To be honest a small step down from two of them. The service was OK but not proactive, having to flag down someone to order. In fact both my wife and I noticed one server standing chatting with the solo lady in the next table almost the entire time of our visit. One wonders what his peers thought of the sharing of duties.

We went there in a family gathering. First of all, the free chips and salsa are AMAZING. The chips are warm and freshly cooked. I will go again there just for the chips. Coming to the food, I ordered burrito loco which is like a Cali burrito. It comes with fries, guacamole, chicken, rice and bean inside. It tastes good expect I feel the Chicken should be more seasoned, mine tastes very chicken. I normally don't enjoy the boil meat flavor (I am Indian duhh) I took off one star because of the chicken. The service is excellent, the server gave two refills of the chips, mostly consumed by me. And we didn't ask for it, she asked if we want refill. Also we waited 10-15 mins for part of the family to arrive, and the server didn't ask once if we are ready to order, no rushing of any kind. A must visit Mexican place. I will definitely go again there.

Service was a little slow but food was good. Wish the presentation was a little nicer and with a little more sour cream, avocado & tomatoes

This was our first time coming to this Casuelas location. We always go to the Turlock location but it did not disappoint. The inside is much nicer than Turlock. The food was great but our server was exceptional. Claudia made us feel like family the moment she came to our table. She was extremely friendly and kind. She went above and beyond. We will definitely be coming back because of her.

The poorest made cucumber marg I've had at las casuelas. No muddling, no tajin, no chamoy. Weak

The guacamole was pretty bad and old. The chile in the relleno tasted old. The beer was flat and the chips were stale. Won't be back.

I started out with their house made soda - a sparking strawberry drink that was extremely refreshing. We were there early and had the pleasure of sitting at the counter and talking to Tye - the owner/chef and Shauna the wait staff. Dishes are to share. Tye explained that he serves the dishes in particular order to deliver balance with intensely flavored dishes alternating with milder bites. We started with a simple plate of Marcona almonds, Castelvetrano olives and Manchego cheese. We then enjoyed the cabbage with peanut sauce dish - which may sound unusual but was absolutely delightful. We practically licked the plate - in fact asked for a spoon to capture all of the sauce. Next came whipped feta and ricotta cheese served with thinly sliced stone fruit some chili crisp and honey sprinkled with red walnuts and olive oil. This is served with bread slices. It's hard to describe how delicious and flavorful this dish was with such simple ingredients. We were going to order the steak and chimichurri but were talked into the lamb pops - and we are so glad to have tasted these marvelous lamb chops. They were cooked perfectly. In fact they were so good - we went ahead and ordered the steak too - which was extremely flavorful on its own but served with a fresh house made chimichurri. We also ordered the patatas bravas which were perfectly seasoned and cooked - almost crispy on the outside but creamy on the inside with just a perfect level of heat. We finished the meal with the cinnamon rolls - don't know how they cooked these to perfection so quickly but they were fantastic. Bottom line - how have we not been here before! Most important - we will be back!! Thank you Bauhaus for a great meal and dining experience.

Staff were friendly and there were menus for the drinks and food. They also had indoor and outdoor seatings. Majority of their menu were handhelds and shareable which is understandable since it's more or a brewery/bar setting. I got the Caesar salad with no chicken as well as the truffle fries. Truffle fries were very good and seasoned. Caesar salad was okay, most of the lettuce was already soggy but i should have asked for the sauce on the side. It seems like their tacos and handhelds are really popular so I'll try that next time. Overall good foods and good times. I'll come back.

Sadly disappointed…read more My friends and I stopped by Commonwealth on a Saturday afternoon for a late brunch. It was a beautiful day so it was busy for both indoor and outdoor seating. Here, you order your food, grab a number, and find your own seat for the food to be brought out to you. We sat at a table outside to decide what to order. There were no menus available so we just had to search for it online before heading inside to order. Despite being third in line from the register, we had an extremely long wait to order. There was only one person running the register who also had to make the drinks, meaning the service incredibly slow. We wanted to order the five taco platter, garlic fries, chicken Caesar salad, and mimosa pitcher. Sadly, we were only able to get the pitcher and salad. The cashier told us "sorry, we aren't doing fries right now." Not doing fries? Every plate in the vicinity had fries on them. She said that because it was brunch hour, only food on the brunch menu could be ordered. We looked at the brunch menu again and literally saw garlic fries as an option as a side for the burgers/sandwiches. No where did it specify that you can't order off the other menu and both were available online. What bothered us about this is that we placed this order at around 1:50pm, and brunch ended at 2:00pm. I understand that we are not entitled to things on the lunch menu during brunch-time for items like the tacos, but considering the menu swap was less than 10 minutes away and they were quite literally were "doing fries" at the time, it didn't make much sense to us. The only food that we ended up ordering was the Chicken Caesar Salad. This one dish took a super long time to receive. By the time it was brought out, the three of us nearly finished the Mimosa pitcher. The waitress noticed we had no silverware and said she would go grab us some. Because of how the service had been going thus far, we placed a bet on whether or not the waitress would come back with the silverware. Surprise, surprise. She didn't. We had to go inside later and search for silverware ourselves. We weren't even able to get sharing plates which was upsetting since the waitress asked us if we would be sharing the salad. The salad itself looked delicious, but was bland. The dressing was missing that zing and zest that a Caesar dressing typically has. I do appreciate that is was a chopped salad, had avocado, and seasoned croutons. It is just unfortunate that it was lacking any flavor at all. The food prices are quite affordable for the quantity of food you receive though. This experience was disappointing because I was so optimistic about the place. The menu looked good, it had fun and casual vibes and a cool crowd of people. If Commonwealth worked towards better service practices, it would have been a more positive experience.

I have left wonderful reviews in the past for this place but I have to share my experience…read morerecently. My boyfriend and I have been to Standard Pub several times during the day, and every visit has been fantastic. We've enjoyed the food, drinks, and even had the pleasure of speaking with the owner on multiple occasions. The service was always welcoming, and the food was consistently phenomenal. Because of those great experiences, we decided to bring some friends on a Saturday night. We arrived around 7:30 PM, and the atmosphere looked promising. There appeared to be a DJ setting up, and the crowd seemed excited for a night of music, food, and drinks. Unfortunately, our experience that evening was completely different from what we had come to expect. We ordered food and drinks, and while our server wasn't outright rude, he seemed uninterested in providing the level of service we had previously received. As the night went on, things became increasingly odd. Shortly after ordering another round of drinks, while our drinks were still full and we had just received them, the server approached our table and asked if we were finished. My boyfriend jokingly responded, "No, let me talk to your manager," and laughed, assuming the server was joking as well. The server responded, "Yeah, it's my brother," but with an attitude that left everyone at our table looking at each other wondering what had just happened. He then informed us that we needed to put a credit card on file. At that point, we had already been there for over an hour, and it seemed strange that this requirement was only being brought up then. We also noticed that no other tables around us were being asked for a card. The most disappointing part came when we received the bill. There was an additional $60 service charge added--$35 on my friends' bill and $25 on ours. Confused, we asked for an explanation. The explanations we received kept changing. First, we were told it was because my boyfriend was sitting with another group, which was completely false. Then we were told it was because the bill exceeded $100. After that, we were told it was because there were more than six people in our party, despite there only being four of us. The inconsistent explanations were frustrating and made it feel as though the staff were simply making up reasons to justify the charge. Our issue wasn't necessarily with a service fee itself--it was the lack of disclosure and the conflicting stories we were given when we asked about it. To make matters worse, the receipt also included a separate line for an additional tip. After discussing it with them and explaining that additional charges should be clearly communicated to customers, the service charge was ultimately removed. This review is not a reflection of the food, which remains excellent, nor of our previous experiences at Standard Pub. It is solely based on the service and handling of the situation during our Saturday night visit. We left feeling disappointed and confused, especially because this establishment had earned our trust through many positive visits in the past. I sincerely hope this was an isolated incident and that management addresses these issues so other customers don't have a similar experience
