Getting my permanent eyeliner done by Marcia is one of the worst things I've ever done…read more I had a coupon for 50% off permanent eyeliner at another place, but my husband said not to go to the cheaper place. Marcia's reviews seemed great! Except that Nicole A with the glowing review is her daughter (whom Marcia tattooed at age 12), and others are friends of hers, as I found out later. When I arrived for my appointment, I noticed her space was very dark and cluttered, but she had good reviews, so I tried not to let that bother me. I showed her several pictures of the style eyeliner I wanted... very thin line on the bottom, medium line on top with well-defined, dainty wings with a sharp point at the edge. She kept showing me pictures of her daughter's eyeliner and kept telling me how beautiful her daughter is, and I told her several times it wasn't what I was looking for. She didn't want to draw on my eyelids what I wanted, but I let her do it because she was "experienced" and had such good reviews. I was DEVASTATED when she handed me the mirror to look when she was done. I had very thick, uneven lines on the bottoms, and a very thin line on the top with rounded blobs on my eyelids instead of well-defined wings. I asked for a VERY THIN line on the bottom and a medium line on top, showed her several pictures beforehand, and even reiterated what I wanted several times. At the first touch up, I showed her the issues and she assured me the touch-up would make it look much better. I told her not to accentuate the wings, I was hoping they'd fade away. She went over them again anyway, even made the blobs a little bigger and she told me she made them look better. I'm not sure if she doesn't listen, or thinks she knows what her clients want better than they do themselves. I absolutely hate looking in the mirror now. This was supposed to increase my self-esteem and give me more confidence in my looks, save me time on applying makeup, but the exact opposite is what happened. This is what I've got: The line on one upper eyelid starts out thicker on the inside, then abruptly stops and becomes paper-thin for the length of my lid. The other upper eyelid is smooth all the way across, but so thin, and I still have the horrible blobs on my eyelids instead of those elegant wings I wanted off to the side. The eyeliner on one lower eyelid is rounder and thicker and doesn't meet my lash line, and the other lower eyelid is more straight across, follows my lash line, and is much thinner. I look like I let my 72-year-old mother-in-law apply my eyeliner without her glasses on, with an old kohl eyeliner crayon, in the dark. Yes, it's that bad, and I have to look at myself like this every single day.

Gina on the other hand had no information or advice to offer. I had read about the procedure, and every studio I called was booked. Gina was the only one with availability right away. First red flag. At the time I believe she had 6 reviews and they were all 5 stars. That seemed good enough for me. What I failed to realize is that all the people who left reviews were first timers on yelp. A clear indication that they were probably friends and trying to boost her ratings. Second red flag. When I arrived, I was ushered to a little back room with a narrow make shift bed reserved for waxing eyebrows. Gina applied generic lidocaine to my brows. She told me her boss has to order it for her because she is not licensed. Then she left me for 30 min. During this time someone walking by turned off the light in the room which I was. So I laid there in the dark until Gina returned. She asked me what shape did I want? I showed her a picture as an example and she went to work stenciling etc. Then she brought out her tools. She literally had to place her case of tools on the floor while she worked because the make shift room had no table where she could place them. While she was busy microblading my brows, someone walked past and turned off the light again thinking there was no one in the room. Smh. When she was done and did the big reveal I was speechless. She asked me if I liked it and I did not respond. I told her I didn't understand why the brows were so big. Also my left brow had an exaggerated arch and the right brow was arch less. They looked nothing like the picture I showed her. She explained that the brows would shrink and fade and i would need a touch up. She told me to rub a thin layer of aquaphor during the day and a thick layer before I shower and bedtime. I paid the $400 fee and left there unsure of what the heck I just did. So I go about my day and my life. I do not receive one compliment on my brows from anyone. Strange because I received lots of compliments when i filled them in myself. So by the third day huge chunks of scabs are falling off my brows. I'm shocked because the scabs are full of color. Literally four days later the scabs have completely peeled off and I'm left with a faint trace of a bad tattoo on my brows. I text Gina on Tuesday October 9th and attach a pic to show her what's left of her work. Mind you my brows have not healed and I'm having to fill them in anyway. Gina told me that's what happens and I should look up microblading. She then said she could reschedule me for a retouch the following week. That is the last I heard from Gina. She never scheduled me. Never checked back in. No after care follow up up, nothing. Gina and this salon seem to be all about the money. She sure does not care about the clients. I was not confident in her ability to provide the brows I wanted so I probably would not have gone for a retouch. At least the tattoo she gave has faded enough to where I can fill it in and make my brows look natural. $400 is a lot to pay for a 30 minute tattoo. Just make sure you do your research before getting this done and use someone who is experienced and reputable.

I brought a light brown eyebrow pencil with me and stated that this was the color that I wanted. When Carolynn completed her work I was shocked to see that my left eyebrow was much higher than the right one, it had a different shape, and was much longer. My natural eyebrow showed beneath it. Even though it was supposed to lighten over time it was a very dark color. I needed to have the left micro blading removed and the right one lightened. I went several times to her and had minimal success. I had lash extensions every three weeks and she attempted to remove the eyebrow. She was never apologetic and actually complained that she was working on this for free and raised the price of my lashes to cover her costs! I went to a few other micro blading facilities for a consultation and they were all shocked at the poor work that she did. There is little more that I can do right now to remove the extra eyebrow. It was suggested to me that I wait six months before attempting more removal.
