After a magnificent dinner in the area a hand in hand walk in downtown Americana Pleasanton was necessary. Low and behold what did that wooden sign say out front? Did it say European pastries? We had absolutely no room for a single thing, but European? Traditionally European desserts are not heavy on the sugar, don't have all the food coloring, and additives. Ding Ding plus Ding my mind spins fast as my hubby is getting pulled at a rapid pace towards the door. He says "No Way" I say "For another time," as we don't live in the area. We walked in to see cases of pastry delights. I turn back as hubby dares not to enter entirely into the temptation. As I look back I see stacks of boxes, walk over to discover they are all pies! Anyone that knows me knows my last meal in life would consist of Berry Pie for dessert. I look and there it is a Mixed Berry. I turn and ask the lady after she was done with her customer how much for this delight? She said it's $24. Without question I grabbed said pie, and went to the register. I told her that Berry is my favorite, and she went on to say that every Friday is Pie Day. She also mentioned that if I ever needed anything in particular, I could call ahead. She could have it prepared for me. Wonderful lady and beautiful service. Might I add that a pie of this weight and stature normally runs about $35 even $40 in some places. We had a slice the next day because I could not bear it any longer. Without lie this is the best pie I've had in years!!!! Years or even perhaps ever. It has to be realized that if there is Berry Pie of any kind on the menu it will be ordered even to go. There were actual whole berries, and it was not full of sugar like some pies. You can taste the natural fruit of summer, and the crust was perfection!!!! Now I have to wait for a Birthday to order a cake. I'm sure it will be divine! I am young enough to remember when Primrose Bakery was located in the Village in Castro Valley. It never seemed like the right fit. While I am glad for the success they have had in Pleasanton I will not return due mainly to the high price point that I didn't think matched the average quality of the desserts. While I wanted to try the mini chocolate cake with chocolate ginach and chocolate butter cream I could not spend $13 on a cake smaller than a pint of ice cream. In fact for that price I can get 2 heaping slices of Linda's fudge cake at the Cheesecake factory just miles away. The m&m cookie was alright, nothing eart shattering. The Jewish apricot cookie was pleasant. Both cookies somehow appeared smaller than they did in the display case. Maybe I am just frugal. Maybe I just prefer the hearty richness of the costco food court chocolate chip cookie but I can't go back to this Bakery. Beautiful interior, 90s country, nice cashier but not for me, but it might be for you! read more

We strolled around after dinner and treated ourselves for some quick desserts. The canoli is divine. The Dubai chocolate cake is good but didn't taste like Dubai chocolate. I forgot to take a pic of the actual cookie I had but I tried the Cowboy cookie from here! It was an oatmeal cookie with chocolate and butterscotch chips and walnuts. It was super rich and buttery and it was a pretty thin cookie which was nice. I devoured it in 5 bites! I liked how crispy the cookie was as well. After dinner at an Italian restaurant, we decided to go for a short walk and happened to come across this bakery by chance. Once inside, the desserts on display immediately caught our eye. The sweet potato pie was a pleasant change from the chocolate pie we're used to having every year for Thanksgiving. The crust (sidewall) was great but the one at the bottom kind of blended in with the pie. I have been wanting to come here for awhile. So glad I was able to check this off now. They are known for their pastries. Ordered their popular frangipane, pistachio cannoli and pecan pie. Also tried their coffee. It was pretty good to my surprise. I ordered their white chocolate raspberry latte. It gave off a strong raspberry flavor with a good balance of caffeine (medium roast). If you like bold dark roast, you may want to ask them to add another half shot. The frangipane has nice almond taste with light to medium cream texture. The pecan pie tart was a little on the dry side though. They don't fill it with the typical heavy caramelized coating which is a good thing for health conscious pecan pie lover. read more

Primrose Bakery has produced a few of my birthday cakes I am partial to their Black forest cake, but nothing they make is less than excellent. This most recent birthday was rainy and cold. Primrose was a welcome respite. Thanks to brewing coffee, it smelled delicious. Thanks to an overabundance of gorgeous cookies, cakes, and pastries, it looked divine. They are open late, too. We toddled In around 8pm. My black forest cake was decadent and delicious,v with plenty of whipped cream. I liked my friend's fig topped cake, too. It was really velvety. I really wanted some of the pumpkin shaped petit fours and the princess cake, but that had to wait for another day. They are a bit pricey, but well worth it. Recommended. read more

I dropped in Thursday morning, 9-25-2025, to check if they had any seasonal items. They offer a pumpkin chai latte, pumpkin pie latte, pumpkin muffin, and a pumpkin croissant. The croissant had just came out of the oven, so it was warm and oh do delicious. They have recently remodeled - love the new ambiance! It's more spacious and there's seating (both indoor and outdoor) to enjoy your baked goodies. We came here for a quick sweet treat. We were able to snag street parking right in front. Went inside and was warmly greeted. Very pleasantly surprised that they had a few gluten free options that were clearly marked! I decided to go with the hazelnut chocolate cookie with a cup of tea and it did not disappoint! It was everything you'd want in a fall dessert: crumbly, sweet, and perfectly balanced with a mix of tart and sweet flavors. It's clear this place does well at more than just macaroons. That said, the macaroons (yes, the coconut kind. Not macaRONs) are still my go-to treat. I love this place! I came by Saturday morning around 10:30 am. I was hoping for their savory Breaded brie, gouviyer and portobello croissant! Unfortunately sold out. But I'll be back this week for my cannoli!! The only thing that was a tad bit annoying, there were 5 ppl working and the first gal wasn't sure about available savory. They all just stood there. I love this place! I have visited this bakery about 3 or 4 times. Every time I stop by I am greeted with a smile and a genuine willingness to help. I have tried the cookies chocolate chip and m&m's . I have tried the assorted cheesecakes the turtle one is awesome. The napoleon omg! The red velvet cake and they have a decent espresso drinks My favorite desert that they offer is the carrot cake! Came down to old downtown Pleasanton for the Farmers Market and saw this Bakery and Yelp it. Saw good reviews and selections. Before we left I back track and went inside, some of their products are pricey and some on the counter displays are reasonable. Ordered 6 items cost me little bit than I expected. Pretty disappointed. My first experience trying a product from here and it was comparable to a Safeway sheet cake. It's very possible the other (non-vegan) items are tasty, however, this was not my experience.
