We tried the Malasadas trio. It came out hot but we didn't want to eat it before lunch. So by the time we got home and had lunch, it was an hour later. Ordered from this bakery two days in advance online, to customize items, and everything went smoothly from there. Got the chocolate chip banana bread loaf with added walnuts, and oatmeal cookies with chocolate chips and walnuts (only comes in a 12-pack for preorder). I chose a specific hour-long window for pickup, and it was ready within the specified time frame. The lady was so professional and kind when she came out and handed me my items, the cookies packaged securely and the banana nut bread warm and seemingly freshly made. The perfect texture, and the taste was amazing, so much flavor and delicious melted chocolate, probably the best I ever had! And the oatmeal chocolate walnut cookies were pretty darn good too. I'm definitely a fan of Mom's Homemade Bread. I had never heard of East Bay Eats before. It's similar to Local Kitchens, with a bit of indoor seating (standard tables as well as countertops with bar stools). Now that I know, I may return for other food options when looking for some snacks in the east bay. And again, I'm 100% coming back for more of Mom's baked goods. Mom's Homemade Bread was able to accommodate a last minute request. I was in charge of getting a cake for a friend's birthday, so the day before I was searching for some place new to accommodate this request in the San Lorenzo area. I called Mom's Homemade Bread to see if they would be able to make a cake for the next day, and the owner said she would be able to. Thank goodness! My pick up time was 3pm, and I showed up around 2:45pm. The owner came out and said that she still needed to put the cake together. I was out the door at 3pm. We tried their banana walnut bread, which I thought was quite decent - I especially liked how moist the bread was, and the banana flavor really came through as well - but at the same time it tasted just like a decent normal banana bread, and it didn't feel mind blowing or extra special. I also think the banana bread could use a little more walnut because I only found one or two specs of chopped walnuts in each slice of the banana bread that I had. I think having more walnuts in the bread would make this bread more wholesome and added a nice texture. The sponge part was light and fluffy and the guava jelly topping over the top of the cake was sweet and tart and delicious. The owner of the business is very kinda and responds quickly to orders and requests. The wok out of their home so there's no store front. You just pick up at a residential area and they will give the location for pick up. The reason i gave four instead of five stars was that I did feel the cake was a bit sweeter than my liking and wished the spongy part was lighter and fluffier texture. Also the cake is a bit on the more expensive side compared to the cakes I usually buy from chinese bakeries. 11-21-2020 scrumptious Perishable Thanksgiving care box arrived from Pleasanton, California. Went specifically to the post office today to pick it up. For those more refined, perfect for fancy afternoon tea with special loved ones limited to the Tier we are in at present. Hubs loves pumpkin so besides many other flavors included, we have the best of both worlds and then some. Usually I'd be flying up to spend Thanksgiving with Doc C and her sweet Frenchie but due to the current travel advisories, it's best to stay put. There are enough yummies in the gift container to last hubs and me til Black Friday for sure. Hubs tasted the guava cookies and I devoured the chocolate chip banana mini loaf. I pre-ordered this cake 2 days before for my husband's bday and they responded for the confirmation. When you pick up the cake, you can pay via Venmo or cash. For the price of $40, this is so worth it! The only downside is if you have to drive far, make sure to keep it somewhere cool since this cake has some toffee crunch and melts when it gets too hot. As for the cake, it was so soft and moist. I really love everything with toffee and others may find this too sweet. As for me, i'm completely okay with it and I loge every single bite! I live in OC and I usually come to Pleasanton for Indian lunch w my boyfriend maybe once every 2-3 months. I've been saving this place for the last few months and finally was able to pick up some snacks to try (i didn't pre-order ahead). I got banana bread with walnuts and chocolate, Furikake chex mix, and a chocolate cranberry. Tina and her daughter are very sweet! Once I got there pick up was fairly easy, i called Tina and her daughter handed me my sweets. I love how their stuff are not too sweet. The banana bread was moist and not dry at all! I love their furikake chex mix, better than the ones i've had in Hawaii, those were too sweet in my opinion. Just wanted to leave another update for the page. I had ordered the new Ube Haupia Pie and a Lemon Crunch Cake. It was sort of last minute and appreciated them getting this out the door to me. The ube haupia was pretty awesome. It's a new (to me) take on the "classic" haupia pie from Hawaii. They told me the ube was fresh and it wasn;t some fake concoction from the bottle. And you can really tell. You taste the almost sweet potato texture in the ube filling. I use ube extract in my crinkle cookies and you can totally tell that taste apart from something fresh. The haupia pie flavor was on point and loved the crumble of the pie crust. The lemon crunch cake was pretty awesome too. It has this lemon curd that's also homemade and it has such a different flavor from what you think of lemon. It's more potent, but in a good way. The toffee crumble was the icing on the cake, no pun intended. My neighbor stole half of the cake from me and confessed she had most of it for breakfast the next morning. Totally going to try all that Tina and her crew offers on their website. Surely, they're just as amazing. Really hope to see them grow into a brick n mortar. One thing that stands out - the desserts aren't overly sweet. It almost feels like you can reach for that extra slice without consulting your primary care doctor. Almost. Would love to see maybe some marketing stickers on the boxes to get the word out. My buddies kept asking me where it was from - wish I could have just pointed to the boxes. Every single weekend it feels like I'm going grocery shopping, thankfully I switch things up and go to different grocery stores/Produce Stands for a change of scenery. I've been going to the Windmill Farms Produce Stand for years, and they've always stocked their shelves with goods sourced from local businesses. When I was checking out today I noticed some new products on their counter, and when I asked the cashier she said that they were really good. So I picked up a few! I got their White Chocolate cranberry cookies, Guava Cookies and Chocolate Chip cookies. So here are my thoughts. I loved the White Chocolate Cranberry, they were very smooth and nicely sweet, and the Guava Cookies, the jelly was a nice surprise and so tasty . I wish I could say the same about the chocolate chip cookies, for me personally they were too sweet, I think maybe if they used semi sweet chips instead of milk chocolate chips it would've turned out different. I needed a housewarming gift for a friend and according to German tradition you bring a homemade loaf of bread and salt. The current pandemic, unfortunately, prevented to me to bring my friend these items in person and so I opted for the next best thing: home delivery. I'd described the German tradition to her and she suggested adding some salted chocolate chip cookies. What a great idea! I sent a text asking why if I requested specific flavors the night before they were unavailable when requested ahead of time. When I got back after getting the your order is ready I was sent a text stating she did not appreciate the questions I had and cancelled the order when I was standing to pick up the order.
