I dropped off a sapphire and diamond band/ring on January 1 to replace two sapphires that had loosened and fallen out of the band. I was promised the ring back on 1/11. While I was at the store, the saleswoman Sarah and another older gentlemen were very aggressive on selling me diamond earring studs. I tried a few on, but was not there to purchase diamonds. They kept pushing, bargaining prices. I noticed that a few of the diamonds were different sizes from their other counterpart and did not trust their quality or craftsmanship. I left the store with my husband to our car in the parking lot a block from the store. The older man from the store ran after me trying to make a deal, saying they would sell me the diamond earrings at a discount and give me the ring repair complimentary for $4200. He even wrote in the back of my service ticket for the ring and said he would honor the price when I returned to pick up the ring. My husband and I had very bad tastes in our mouths from this experience. What high end jeweler makes deals selling diamonds in a parking lot? Why is he chasing me down the street? At this point, I felt regretful leaving my ring with them. Fast forward, I called the store on 1/10 to see when I could pick up on 1/11. They shared it's not ready and would take longer bc they did not have the right color sapphires to add to the ring. I finally received a call on 1/17 that the ring was ready. Upon pick up, I noticed that the two sapphires added were different colors, obvious to the naked eye. One was very dark and the other very light - not matching the other stones. They said they could redo the ring acknowledging the color difference, but I of course don't trust them to do so. Why would they even feel Comfortable giving this ring back to me in this condition? After some debate, the store was only able to offer me 25% off, which I accepted. As I was leaving, the older man who chased me down the parking lot said condescendingly with a laugh, "you seem very nervous". And I said "I'm not nervous, I'm disappointed and pissed". He continued to berate me, and I reminded him that he tried to barter diamond earrings with me in a parking lot like a desperate used car salesman. This shop is total amateurish, does not take their work or inventory seriously, and are classless and patronizing. I do not recommend. read more

My wife wanted to replace a pinky ring she wears every day for a more vintage, low profile diamond ring. Having recently moved to Marin County, I spent time on the internet scoping out several stores, reading reviews and looking for a store with a good estate or vintage inventory. I tried a couple closer to home, but the selection was thin. Prince was on my initial cut of stores to visit, but a little farther from home, so I decided to go to lunch in Sausalito with my wife and then go check it out together. What a find! This is now my go to jewelry store. The selection of vintage pieces is significant. Sara listened to what we were looking for and narrowed our focus quickly. She also brought some inventory from the back to give us a large selection. We narrowed it to two rings; spending time trying both. There was no rush. Sara was knowledgeable and very helpful. We talked about the quality of the diamonds, discussed the two settings and Sara had a lot to offer. My wife picked the one she liked and we bought it, leaving it there to be sized. A gentleman there looked at another ring my wife was wearing and answered some questions about the band. He straightened it for her and gave us a price for strengthening the band, which we will do soon. The service was excellent, the selection amazing and the experience was enjoyable. Walking around Sausalito on the hottest weekend of Bay Area history, found Mr & me passing the windows of Prince.....and being one who never misses an opportunity to gaze upon lovely vintage pieces, we went inside but only under the assumption we were looking.....which is a dangerous assumption The staff was very attentive but not at all pushy and as Mr & I were commenting on various pieces, there was an offer to let us look more closely / try it on. Among the many engagement rings and nice variety of earrings, to rings, to bracelets, we also saw a case of signed pieces including Tiffany jewelry and watches from Patek Philippe and Cartier After seeing a few pieces & nothing calling my name, ( again, we were just looking ) what ended up making its place in my heart, was an Omega concealed watch. It was stunning. They are willing to negotiate price which is okay for me but I much prefer to work under firm asking prices - negotiating always leaves me feeling like I got the poorer end of a deal & here was case in point. We agreed to a price that I wasn't thrilled with but did not want to push and I left to consider the piece - I never make impulse buys on such investments...and after pondering, turned out the watch did indeed haunt me enough that I ended up calling them to make final arrangements.... which included taking the piece on contingency. It is always a good idea to have your pieces authenticated by an expert! I was up front that I would be having the item authenticated and received their assurance that they stand behind their items. If for any reason things did not turn out as I expected, they would take it back, no questions asked - so I left with confidence & peace of mind. My go-to person for authentication & evaluation ended up confirming it was indeed an authentic Omega from the late 1940s / early 1950s but while it was a fantastic piece, I paid a premium. So shame on me and my poor negotiating skills but I can walk away, accepting this was a once in a lifetime opportunity for me & they got a very nice profit off the deal. read more

I saw several rows of Art Deco style rings and a lovely young saleswoman invited me to try on "just for fun". Loved the idea of that but didn't think the older rings would fit beyond my swollen knuckles. There was "that one" that really caught my eye so I tried it on and fell in love.
