I had several old pieces of gold jewelry that I'd been thinking about selling for a few years but didn't know how to go about it. I decided to go to The Gold Drop just to see what they were worth and ended up selling all of it since the price of gold is relatively high now. I went in off the street with no appointment. The service is great. There was absolutely no pressure at all from Barbara and Rahel, who are kind, professional, and very importantly, honest! I sold all kinds of old jewelry (some of it of sentimental value) and various scraps, like a gold crown, also a high school ring and sorority jewelry that I'd though were relatively worthless (they weren't), old watches, rings, vintage brooches, gifts from teenage boyfriends, and more. They called me and said they had underpaid me because of this and to come back for the correct amount. which was quite a bit more. They did not have to do this, but they are a very reputable company. Completely unprofessional. Wasted 2+Hrs of my day. We agreed on a Set price with someone named "Luca" I called the store to verify the appointment with Shalom that he himself agreed was set for 3pm . Wow, I've dealt with the rest now I for sure have found the BEST! Others around the area have pretty much been the monopoly in Marin so to speak and are flippant and 'could -care-less, 'take it or leave it' , attitude when coming to purchasing if you're values. And usually if there is discrepancy's or issues, 'oh, you'll have to deal with the owner on that' who just so happens to not be around. WELLLLL, not this place. They are current with trending prices, fare, negotiable and down right the nice people. Not only that, the women who gave me a current price from the day before but had since gone down 11cents the day I was there, the owner, gave me the better price because that is what I had been quoted. Even though they were going to take a loss. Wow, JUST WOW! I came to the Gold Drop upon a recommendation from another Gold shop since my jewelry piece was unique. I was pleasantly surprised when Shalom was able to understand the value of the piece and wanted me to let them try to sell it, even though we both had our doubts with not very many people being interested in wearing jewelry pieces nowadays. Unfortunately the value of diamonds has dropped because of lab grown and the price that I had the piece appraised for years ago has gone down, I was a little reluctant to settle on a lower price for it to sell, but I left it with Shalom just to see if he would find a buyer. I was surprised to get a call less than 2 weeks later from Shalom, letting me know that not only was he able to sell the piece, but that he was going to give me more than what was agreed upon. When I went to finish the transaction, it made me feel a lot better about selling the piece and was an easy process where they just handed me a check for the sale. It is definitely hard for people to trust others and having someone who is not only knowledgeable about jewelry, but is also willing to be honest about a sale is a rare find.
