Funny enough -- I found this place through Yelp on a long trip from Monmouth back to the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago. I had a pretty large search area set to find ice cream -- but what attracted me to this location (of all the possible ones over 3.5 hours) was actually the cool name and colorful pictures I saw. So what you'll find here is a small, family owned restaurant -- the decor is quirky, the flavors are quirky, and vibe is quirky -- but that's what also makes it charming. The staff is super friendly and the ice cream is creamy, tasty, and fresh. This shop is probably not worth a special detour over 200 miles, but if you're in the Dekalb / Sycamore area -- it's a nice place to stop by and have some ice cream (and a selfie with the signs). read more

My honey and I were in town for a pig roast at a bar down the street. On our walk back to the car we saw this cute little ice cream place and just had to try it. They were kind of pricy but the waffle cones are worth it! I just got a kids size- it was perfect size. They had a good selection to choose from which was good. I went with churro! read more

This small town is a nice diversion with friendly staff and delicious ice cream. I especially enjoyed the Caramel Caribou in a cup. The only downside is, don't wait to go to the bathroom when you get here. They don't have one for customers. read more

A new hidden gem in Sycamore, IL...only 3 months old. This is a small, family run ice cream shop sourced from a local dairy in Belvidere, IL. There were only about 12 flavors (and expanding), but the quality and taste are excellent. I had the peanut butter moose tracks and crunchy caramel pretzel...creamy, with big chunks of fudge, peanut butter, and pretzels. The service was very friendly and they give you generous portions! Some limited seating available in front of the store. There's a large free public parking lot east, across the street or cheap metered parking street side (1 cent =12 min, 5 cents =1 hr). My family visited the Princess Alex Ice Cream shop lastnight and walked into a clean establishment and were quickly greeted with a smile. It's a small shop, but very cute. It's a local business that sources its ice cream from a local dairy. There aren't many selections of ice cream but they seemed to have some or the more popular flavors available, and also offered shakes and banana splits among other items. The servings were generous and the quality and flavor of the ice cream top notch. My family thoroughly enjoyed our first outing to this ice cream shop and will be visiting again. The owner was very friendly and even popped outside when she had a minute to offer our family some water in case we were thirsty. Keep in mind, again, it's a small shop and when we arrived there was only one person working so service can be a little slow.
