When we got there, we both checked in and I headed for the bathroom. It was clean. Mom's nail tech was running behind so we waited. After a while they had me sit in a pedicure chair, while Mom still waited. The place is bright & airy. And even though it was quite busy, it didn't feel like we were packed in their like sardines. The woman completing a pedicure for a customer in the chair next to me asked me some questions to keep me engaged. Finally, I got a male tech. Mom said she though he was one of the owners or something. Either way, I didn't wait terribly long. He was a professional. Asked me if I was ticklish, which I am. TECHNICAL ERROR AND LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY FOR RESOLVING IT I have been a loyal customer of this salon for quite some time, visiting every three weeks, referring friends and family, and consistently tipping 30-40%. Because of that history, what happened, and more importantly, how it was handled, is deeply disappointing. Two days after a gel application, I returned to Jenny (manager/owner) because my nails were throbbing and itching. Ann, a nail technician, had previously soaked my entire fingers in acetone, an improper method that caused chemical damage to my nails (keratin granulation, onycholysis/ nail separation, and inflamed cuticles). Instead of acknowledging Ann's error, Jenny led me to believe I had a fungus or "a problem with acetone". Her recommendation that I soak in vinegar made the condition worse. Vinegar is acidic and further dries and irritates already damaged nails and inflamed skin, exacerbating both the nail separation and cuticle inflammation. When I asked for a refund for the removal service that day and for the prior service that caused the damage, I was told it was "in the past." This response came despite the fact that I am now dealing with unsightly nails, ongoing discomfort, additional out-of-pocket costs for treatment, and weeks of recovery. My issue is not that a technician made a mistake, mistakes happen. It is that the manager/owner refused to acknowledge the harm, provided incorrect guidance, and showed no willingness to support recovery or stand behind her business. A professional salon should: * Use safe, controlled removal methods * Recognize signs of chemical nail damage vs. infection * Take responsibility when harm occurs * Support the client in recovery--not charge them for it Unfortunately, none of that happened here. read more

The nail tech rushed the whole time and when I asked to fix the shape of my nails, she responded in a very negative way. The shape of my nails looked terrible and I had to reshape my nails afterward. I called back and asked if the discount could be applied and they refused to apply the discount. I was a chronic nail and finger biter looking to make a change. I explained this to my first technician and she was very gentle, did not touch any of the raw areas but gave me a very nice clean set of acrylic extensions. This dealt with the nailbiting but my fingers were still pretty calloused on my second visit. I know that technicians do not like dealing with damaged skin because of the risk of infection, so I did not ask for any kind of cuticle care and took care of those on my own. Despite this and my explanation of what I was trying to do (fix my finger biting problem), I received absolutely terrible service on my second visit by a very careless, sloppy, not very polite technician. The woman was working so roughly that she was grazing random areas of my acrylics and leaving gouge marks with her metal file and skidding all over the place with the e-file; there were some fingers where she didn't even finish filing both sides; she repeatedly jabbed me and applied the French tips so quickly all of the edges were ragged and the black gel settled into the gouge marks. She had an absolutely terrible demeanor and seemed openly disgusted by me. Oh and the best part was that she was so careless she did not properly coat my entire finger with topcoat and the gel manicure and chrome literally chipped in under 24 hours. I got these done for an event and had to fill in the missing chips with black Sharpie. I had no desire to go back there for a free fix as my wait time was almost 30 minutes despite having a scheduled appointment ahead of time. The visit was so terrible it inspired me to give up going to the salon entirely. I learned how to remove acrylics on my own and learned how to give myself gel extensions at home. I also finally broke the habit of almost 30 years with some bitterant :) As a final note I think it's funny how the manager is on here trying to discredit people leaving poor reviews. Maybe take some of that energy away from PR and put it towards training your techs? read more

I came to get a pedicure, manicure, and nail dip. This place is pretty cute and clean. I was impressed right when I walked in. You check in on an iPad and click on what services you want. They have quite a large operation running here. I would estimate there was about 15 to 20 nail techs working. My nail tech was pretty good. She did seem to get frustrated with me if I didn't know exactly where she wanted my fingers or feet or toes which gave me some anxiety as I don't often treat myself to pedicures or manicures. She wasn't rude or anything but it was a vibe and looks that I got. Not overly friendly but she did a good job. I was surprised by how much the services cost nowadays. I paid $80 without tip and apparently communication was an issue because I got the nail dip but no manicure which I had asked for on check in. My plain pedicure was $30 and I got a cute flower design for $5 extra. My nail dip was $38 without a manicure!!! I was a bit shocked. Apparently a manicure is an extra $10. I guess it was a good thing that I didn't get the mani. You have to buy a nail kit for $1 and keep it and bring it back each time if you don't want to pay the dollar fee. Anyway I am happy with my nails overall. I used to love Princess Spa and Nails, but I will NOT be a customer there anymore. The owner refuses to issue refunds when the nails lift or chip prematurely, and they are unwilling to accommodate even loyal customers in good faith. A family member and I have contacted the salon three times, both in person and over the phone, to try to work something out, but they refused to budge. They also lied to me about the owner reaching out, saying that he would call me, but he never did. I got acrylic/builder gel nails several times with no complaints, but my last trip there was very different. I got my nails done on a Saturday, and by the next morning, two of them were lifting. I called to make an appointment to have them fixed, and got them fixed that same day. The next day, four more started to lift, but I couldn't go to the salon to have it fixed because I was on my way back to my out-of-state college. My mom went in to request a refund with pictures of my nails that were lifting, and the receptionist made it clear that I would have either a refund or be able to get my nails fixed when I got back from school. She told my mom that I would receive a call from the owner explaining how they would make it right. Days went by, and I never received a call. So I called back and spoke with the same Receptionist. She told me the same thing she told my mom -- that the owner would call me, but that they couldn't offer me a refund because it wasn't their policy. I explained that I was going to have to get my nails fixed out in California because I need them for my graduation ceremony, and by the time I got back to New Mexico, it would be too late. She asked me to text her personal phone number pictures of my nails, which were in worse shape than before, so I did, and she confirmed that she got them. Again, I did not receive a call from the owner like I was promised. A week later, I called back to explain that I needed a refund because the service was very expensive and it failed literally a day after I had purchased it. I got the runaround from the manager, and she told me there was absolutely nothing she could do because it's not their policy to issue a refund even in cases with extenuating circumstances. As a previously loyal customer who told my friends about this place, I will not be going back because when something goes wrong, they are not willing to make it right. My mom and sister also go to this salon, so they will be losing three customers over a simple refusal to issue a refund. It might not seem like a big deal to most people, but as a college student, I have to budget in advance for getting my nails done, and now it is an expense I will be forced to pay for twice. I could've gotten my nails done in California, but I waited till I was back in New Mexico to have them done because I genuinely liked this salon. She was very friendly and even though she said the inspo pic I showed her was too difficult, she still try her best to give me a cute nail design for the lunar new year vibe. The reason for the 4 star is that I did my nails on 9th and it's only been less a week, multiple of my gels are chipped. I have the habit of wearing rubber gloves when I do housework. I'm pretty disappointed with my experience at Princess Spa and Nails. I had read so many positive reviews which is why I decided to book an appointment. To start, my appointment was for 11:15 on a Saturday, the salon was packed and I didn't end up getting a chair until 11:50. Luckily, they had a bunch of color options so I burned some time trying to decide on that. The nail tech who did my manicure cut my cuticles too low on multiple fingers - so much so that I bled. Nobody is perfect and I get that, but I have 3 cuticles that are still hurting days later. Once he finished my manicure, I had to wait another 10 minutes before getting a chair for a pedicure. The pedicure was excellent - I highly recommend the Luxury Pedicure. Fast forward 24 hours from my time at the salon and my gel manicure was already chipped and starting to raise on multiple nails. I've had a lot of gel manicures and all have lasted a minimum of 2 weeks. So I'll say again that this is pretty disappointing. Genuinely such a welcoming nail salon! Regardless of how busy the salon is, there will always be someone to greet you and make sure you're taken care of. Today I went in to just get a quick manicure and of course I didn't get in immediately which is fine. The amount of business that they have really shows how many people trust these techs! Jenny is super sweet and the other nail techs are super patient which is nice since I'm a man, I don't do my nails much. Maya, one of the nail techs, even goes above and beyond to involve me in her conversations with my boyfriend while she does his nails. The only issue I've ever had at this place is with other customers. A few ladies who came in during what seems to be the busiest time were complaining since they didn't get serviced immediately. I went near the end of June for acrylics. I made an appointment and they got me in pretty quickly. The whole time between all of the prep and the acrylics themselves took around 2 hours. The total of the nails were around $75 with tip. They charged me $3 for the coffin shape and $5 for a small 4 line flower. However the acrylics lasted close to 2 months before I removed them.
