My regular hairdresser is sadly on leave, but she recommended Aguri at Cosmo Bleu as a trusted friend and stylist in the area. Cosmo Bleu is next to a consignment shop and bubble tea place, on the "other" side of Nassau. The outside awning looks a little dated, but the interior seemed clean and not as old looking as I had expected from other reviews. Aguri did a great job with my hair and was really fun to chat with. The head massage during the shampoo was really relaxing, and she listened to what I was looking for before making her own suggestions. I just wanted to trim my bob without looking like a puffball (I have a round face, and Asian hair protests against volume), and she did just that while restyling my layers. It's been about a month since then, and my hair still looks good (with maybe one area that's grown out a bit flippy). I'm not sure if I'll be totally changing stylists quite yet, but Aguri has gained my trust. read more

I went there a few times. My last experience was negative. First they are very expensive, I would say probably double the cost of their competition. I spent about $300 for color and a cut. She hardly cut my hair, I was going to an event that evening and asked to blew out my hair (curly to straight) I looked like a witch at my event. She didn't even use any product on my hair. I don't think she cut my hair in the extra pay price I paid for, she just trimmed it. At the end, I ran out of cash, and the snotty lady at the desk said run to CVS for the tip, when I asked if I can come back late or mail it in. This is not the first time the front desk was snotty. I had an absolute TERRIBLE experience at this salon last time i went. I have been coming to Cosmo Bleu on and off since high school for 15 years or so. I had recently moved back from San Francisco and needed to get my hair colored (highlights and single process in between). The salon was very busy so perhaps this is why but the dye and highlights were left on too long. I started to get nervous as it had been about 45 minutes which is a long time to leave bleach on someones hair who doesn't want to be bleach blonde! But I couldn't find my colorist. After she finally rinsed it out and applied a toner I almost lost it to see my hair was green and grey. She quickly took me to the sink and started vigorously scrubbing my head saying the toner reacted funny. The whole time she was whispering to another stylist and I kept asking what's wrong? "Oh it will be fine" she said. She re-applied a new toner and at this point any sign of my highlights were gone and I had a green tint on my hair. I was in tears!!! You can see what I am talking about in my pic. At this point they couldn't even comb through my hair it was so over processed and knotted up. The owner came out to look at it and said add a couple more highlights back in that should help. Help it did not and i left the salon after 4 hours with a tangled green mess of hair. I have never been so appalled and to top it off they charged me full price for this service! $230 for green, over-processed, tangled hair. It's truly amazing to me that this place considers itself a high-end salon. I left that place looking like one of the following: 1) it was 1985, with my feathered, chunky-layered uneven mullet (any "high-end" stylist should know that even if I had asked for it, curly hair does not do well like that) ; 2) that I was a blue/gray-haired, bridge-playing 85 year-old granny; or 3) that a prepubescent aspiring hair stylist hacked into my hair on a whim at a junior high sleepover. I asked the stylist to "fix" what I thought was a bad cut from another stylist there 6 weeks earlier (I chalked that one up to lack of experience, both in cutting and in life), and left with the worst cut I have EVER had. Also, having had my roots retouched several times here successfully, this stylist totally changed the color of my hair. Even I, who is NOT a stylist, knows that you don't leave color on the entire head for a half hour, same as the roots, when all you want are the roots done (should've done a pull-through at the sink for 3 minutes only!!). It's now several shades darker than the color I actually wanted. I will never, ever go back to this place. It seriously needs to take itself down a notch on thinking it's a "high-end" salon. Could've gone to Supercuts for the same Supercrappy style I now have to wait to grow out. Sigh. read more

No names mentioned but this is the worst hair color job ever. The stylist looked at herself in the mirror more than at my hair which would explain the horrific color I had to leave with. She thought it looked good. Still dealing with the disastrous damage 4 months later. My already thinning & fine hair was so damaged that my new salon thinks this could take at least a year to "fix". I have had to cut 3 inches off length to make the layers look presentable. The highlighted areas were so bad they were almost white. Still dealing with that damage. I went here about 5 weeks ago to get my hair washed. I'd been in a bad bicycle accident (facial fractures, 4 broken ribs, broken collarbone, broken wrist, pinched nerve in neck) and wasn't able to wash my hair. My hair is LONG - almost waist-length and thick, very good condition. I let everyone know, very clearly, about my concerns about minimizing the tangles -- both for my hair and the strain it would put on my injuries to comb it out. They had assigned Elle to me. I had a bad feeling about it almost immediately when Elle wanted to proceed to wash my hair without even brushing it out first, from the high ponytail I'd had it in. When I asked her to brush it out first, she did so, but reluctantly -with an attitude. I reiterated my request about minimizing tangles and washing gently when my hair was in the sink, and she told me in no uncertain terms that she would not do that. My hair was quite dirty (I hadn't been able to wash it and had been too injured to have it washed earlier) and she was going to scrub it, period. And she went on to do so. SHE POINT BLANK REFUSED TO DO WHAT I ASKED. She had taken the situation completely out of my control. I was an obviously injured person, unable to be as assertive about the situation as I would have ordinarily been. And she walked all over me. Back in the stylist's chair, I went into shock when I saw the tangled rat's nest that was my hair. Elle, again, repeatedly ignored all of my requests pertaining to brush out and blow drying. She treated me like I was a pain and she just wanted this over with and me out of the salon. I hardly said anything the entire time. I was miserable, in a lot of pain due to all the pulling, and just sort of shocked. At no point was I ever rude or discourteous to Elle. I had wanted things done differently than her usual way, and she appeared to resent this. And she did everything the way that SHE wanted to. I have never been treated so badly at any salon. Her immaturity and complete callousness -- really bordering on abuse -- especially towards a very obviously injured person -- was inexcusable. I recovered sufficiently from the trauma of my appt. with Elle the next day to call up the salon and complain. They apologized and also insisted that Elle was wonderful -- but they did refund the cost my appointment. I was glad for that, it was the professional thing to do. read more

I got my hair cut by Olivia tonight and she did an amazing job! She really listened to my hair preferences and concerns and she provided a really great cut. She definitely knows how to cut thick hair too, which is really difficult. I came here a few days ago and got a cut that looked pretty bad, and after reaching out to get an appointment to get it fixed, they contacted me right away and didn't charge me for the second appointment. I was really impressed with their great customer service. Everyone makes mistakes and I felt that they really did a great job in resolving the problem. They were so nice and professional about it. Aguri is the absolute best!!! I have long curly asian hair and I came in looking for natural balayage highlights but emphasized I hate the streaky uniformed highlight hair. She creatively took pieces of my hair and used the ombre technique to achieve natural highlights. Obviously some people want their hair to look done but I love that mine is barely noticeable. I highly recommend her as she is patient and will work with you to achieve the look you want. TIP: they do not allow credit cards to tip... so make sure you have cash for your stylist. read more

The customer-oriented stylist Damian gave two polished $40 (pre-tip) haircuts to my long hair. After tip, the classy haircuts were $48 each. This price included shampoo, haircut and blow dry. I also had one disappointing haircut with the friendly stylist Elle. Elle did a good job with the voluminous blow dry using the Orbe products. Nevertheless, I truly preferred Damian's haircuts, which were more layered and sophisticated. The salon was clean with a comfortable waiting area with several magazines. Bathrooms were available. I had the worst color experience of my life here. I made an appointment for balayage and received super overdone highlights which resulted in my very dark hair being entirely blonde with one color on the top half and one on the bottom. Went back for correction twice. It's just not fixable. My hair is absolutely ruined. Had to go to another salon for color correction multiple times to help save my over lightened hair. $800 I have totally botched hair that no amount of dye can fix. I am so upset. I have been going there for about 2 years now, and I have had great haircuts, but their management SUCKS! I always paid $45 dollars plus 20% tip, now because they promoted my hairdresser, I have to pay $65. I was never told this when I made my appointment. I had an appointment at Cosmo Bleu for a blow out at 2:15pm that had been confirmed 2 days prior. I was called at 11:40am cancelling because the stylist called in sick. I had this appointment for about 3 months as we were taking our engagement photos at the university later that afternoon. I had told them this on the phone initially when I made my appointment. I asked if they could have another stylist do my hair, they said no. I asked if I could come in earlier, they said no. They said I could come in at 4 (the same time our photos were supposed to start). I asked how they were going to accommodate me and they gave 0 ideas. I find it hard to believe there was not one stylist who could have done my blowout, I understand that people get sick but just cancelling without giving any other helpful options is unacceptable. We were coming from over an hour away for this appointment, and our photographer was driving from 2 hours away, they really put me in a horrible position. I asked if they could at least give me a name of another salon to call to see if I could find a last minute appointment since I was not familiar with the area, but they just said I'm not sure. I can't speak to the quality of work they do here, but if you are making an appointment for something important that can't be rescheduled I would not recommend this salon. Thank goodness I was able to find another salon in town that went above and beyond fitting me into their schedule so I cannot say that Cosmo Bleu ruined my engagement photos, but they certainly did nothing to help. read more

I got a haircut here from Dani, who did an excellent job with my thick, curly hair. She did an excellent job with both the cut and the blow-dry. I got an excellent value considering the amount of work my hair takes. I was also very impressed with the salon itself and my ability to get a same-day hair appointment with no fuss. I will definitely return int he future. One thing a review on Google noted - they don't ask you to place tips on your credit card, so be sure to bring some cash to tip your stylist. read more

Honestly atrocious - do not go here. I came here a while ago to get a balayage touched up; emphasizing that I really wanted it to be subtle & natural (with several pictures) - I was very afraid of the look of obvious "stripes" in my hair. The first thing I noticed was my stylist used foils, which was slightly upsetting because I specifically wanted a hand painted balayage for a more natural look. When it was done, I literally had thick yellow stripes in my naturally dark hair. In fact, it looked exactly how I didn't want it to. Thank goodness my stylist didn't touch the upper parts of my hair where my previous hair stylists had actually done a proper balayage. I left feeling terrible about it. Went back the next day to get it toned, which appeared to work - the brassiness was gone. However, literally the next time I showered, the toner washed out and I was left with super dry, brassy, striped hair. Since then, I've spent tons of money at toning appointments, on purple shampoo, and on other products trying to fix whatever they did. Literally have no clue how they did this - my hair has never been so dry and poorly pigmented in my life. I strongly discourage anyone from getting coloring services here; it's really not worth the hours and hours of trying to get it fixed afterwards. read more

I recognize that it could be considered unfair to give an establishment a poor review based on my experience with one of their employees, but since hair cutting is a skill based trade I should think a salon would ensure that it is comfortable with each stylist representing it; therefore, based on that implicit support I, without hesitation, rate at 1 star and affirm that I'll never return here again. As for the haircut, I'm a guy with short, simple hair, so I shouldn't expect someone to have much trouble cutting it. The woman left patches uneven in length, and insisted all was okay when I asked her. All in all, I would have rather foregone a haircut for awhile longer, than to have gone here and I certainly wish I hadn't paid 40 bucks for a haircut that was dramatically worse than many, many cuts I've had at Great Clips for 12-14 bucks. read more

This place is a major joke. I went in to try to go from dark hair to blonde and left with ashy embarrassing two tone, splotchy, and brassy hair. Albeit my hair was professionally dyed dark brown but left untouched for nearly five months to transition. After a second visit the next day for "corrective service" I was told that my hair would fall out if I wanted to achieve any sort of blonde in it. Which is not only absurd, it is laughable. Thank goodness I called my regular salon in the NYC area to explain the circumstance. They also found Cosmo bleu's verdict amateur and humorous. I should mention that I've been dark brown to blonde for nearly five years without any issues in the past and shockingly (sarcasm intended), I still have all my hair. These girls are young and snotty lacking any responsibility for skill that they may have not developed just yet. When questioned as to why I left with this embarrassing result, I was met with winces and vapid responses. Also being told "good luck with that" as I walked out. Oh and I should mention that they expected nearly $200 for this result. The manager was not helpful either telling me I "should have had a consultation first". Well that's nice after the fact. Great business skills. Long story short, be very careful if you are seeing a "colorist" here. It seems like they are ill equipped to service. read more

Stylist (Cole) - 4 stars Receptionist/Scheduling Service - 1 Stars Cosmo Bleu is a good example of what you would imagine a nice salon in Princeton, a white, relatively upper-class town, might look like. Everyone is super friendly. My stylist always shakes my hand after greeting me, asks to take my coat/backpack/whatever for me, and offers me coffee/tea before I get my hair shampooed. This part of the experience is great. However, it does not make up for the terrible scheduling and service issues I have had at the front desk. Every time that I've come here, I've had to deal with an egregious delay, and both times, these were handled quite poorly and rudely, without much consideration for the customer. To give two examples, one time I came, and they told me originally that they were running a little late (maybe 15 minutes), and then updated to tell me they were going to be even later, suggesting that I just walk around for a bit and then come back. After more than a half hour of literally just killing and wasting my time after I got there on time, they were finally ready for me. Sigh. Example #2. One morning I called at 9:30 AM to ask if my stylist had any openings that day. They said 10:30 AM, and I quickly got ready to make my appointment. I got there on time, only to be informed that they were running so late that I could not see my stylist for my appointment time. I truly don't understand how you can lack the foresight for something you are scheduling only ONE HOUR away, but somehow, they just got so behind that I could not even have my appointment slot after showing up. To put salt on the wound, they offered another stylist I could see, but for $10 more. Come on. I decided to reschedule for later in the day, but I walked out deciding if it was worth ever coming back again (to be honest, writing this, I'm not sure if I plan on going back). Maybe they feel like it's okay to treat me like I'm really flexible because I'm a university student here, but if that's the case, that's kind of ridiculous--they have wasted more time from me walking and waiting than I have spent in there getting my hair cut. Having to go back after showing up only to get rescheduled is literally a half hour gone for me. If they're going to be like this, the least they can do is learn to take clients' phone numbers so that they can reach out and let them know before it's far too late. Unacceptable. As for Cole, the stylist I see, I have few complaints about him. He comes off as pretty knowledge and is very professional to work with. I come in, show him a picture (I have what I would describe as K-pop-y Asian hair), and he makes it happen. The haircut never feels rushed, and he makes an effort to cover all the bases, even offering to account for things I might not think of (e.g. shaving sideburn fuzz). If there's any complain I do have, it would just be that the haircuts never feel very sustainable. Sure, after going to salon and having a professional style my hair, I walk out with my hair looking a lot like the picture I came in with. The problem isn't so much that I'm too amateur to style my hair with quality... it's more that the haircut's shape represents somewhat of a shortcut. To achieve the look, the hair might be cut extremely specifically to one style (e.g. the bangs are heavily biased to only be parted to one side), which can be frustrating to deal with a couple of weeks after the haircut, since the hair's grown out to a point where the original look isn't there, but you still have these super specific features that limit what you can do with it. With that said, if I stop going to Cosmo Bleu, it'll be because it's not worth paying $40+ to have as much time as I spend getting my haircut also getting wasted in the process of waiting and rescheduling. read more

I did my bridal hair and makeup at Cosmo Bleu and it was a very nice experience. The hair stylist and makeup artist are both highly professional and very warm and friendly. They really worked hard to find the best style for me. The result was fantastic; I was quite happy with my bridal look. My bridesmaid and mother-in-law also enjoyed their styling and makeup sessions here. Overall I would recommend this place. read more

This may be the worst hair cut I ever received. Came prepared with photos and an understanding that the photo can't perfectly be achieved. Butchered, is an understatement. I essentially got a home hair cut and left the salon with partially dried, textured hair. My haircut looks like it was done by someone who had never cut hair before, let alone do any kind of layering. A month later, I'm still wearing my hair pulled back in a small pony tail with multiple Bobby pins waiting for my hair to grow to a length that is acceptable to be fixed. I've had 3 Keratin treatments at Cosmo Bleu over the last year. The first treatment was after a high quality treatment and seemed fine, going into last fall. The next Keratin treatment I got lasted maybe a week after waiting a week to shampoo and the second treatment (1 month later!) lasted maybe 2 weeks. For $400, I expect it to last 3-4 months, like the other ones I had been getting at another salon. I think they use an inferior product, because the stylists seem to spend just as much time on the process as they did at the other salon. I used to see my Keratin treatments growing out, but these are like I never had one and only after a couple of weeks. And yes, I'm using shampoo that the salon recommended! As for the cut, my stylist won't give me anything but bangs and a one-layer cut, because my hair is too thick to layer? I won't spend $98 for a basic cut I could do myself! My hair just hangs, like a little girls mommy- cut. I've always had layers and never had an issue, because I've gotten quality Keratin treatments. I'll be looking elsewhere for a salon that is able to give lasting Keratin treatments and also give me a layered cut. read more

I have gone to Aguri for years now. I don't live in Princeton anymore (and haven't in a very long time), but my parents are still in the area. I have been unable to find anyone in Boston or DC that I like as much as Aguri - she always does an amazing job (I have long, think, wavy hair) and listens to what I am looking for each time. I make it a point to get a haircut whenever I am in the area - and will just let my hair grow out in between appointments. I don't trust anyone else! I finally have found a stylist I can trust with my hair! I've traveled to NYC to top notch salons and still haven't been happy. Today I just randomly woke up and decided I wanted a major change from extra long hair to a long bob. Let me tell you, I am the kind of girl that has almost cried after walking out of a salon if the stylist doesn't give me what I want since I am so picky. I got an amazing cut from Cole. I explained to the girl on the phone that I need somebody that is good with cutting bobs on thick Indian hair so I don't end up with a mushroom cut. I really wanted an amazing change and that is exactly what I got. He took his time, great conversationist while making sure I liked the length and the style. He also explained to me how I can maintain the upkeep for my style on a day to day basis so I don't look like a crazy person after washing the salon hair I've gotten done. The price and quality is spot on and I will be going back to Cole for my long bob trimming touch ups!! read more

I got a pedicure here, and the pedicure itself and service were excellent. The place is very pretty, too. So why only two stars? When I asked the difference between the Express and Classic pedicures, the receptionist told me that the Express "didn't include a massage and stuff." I said OK, I don't need a massage. Then when my pedicure started, the esthetician told me that although I had a lot of callouses, the Express didn't include filing. Say what? The Express pedicure was $35. I've had pedicures for much less that included filing - I always thought it was a very basic part of a pedicure. (I don't mean razoring or anything like that, I mean the basic dragging the file across your heels.) I was really shocked! I told her that when I booked, the girl at the front said there was no massage, but I never imagined it wouldn't include something as basic as filing. She was cool about it and threw it in for free - I don't think she was trying to upsell me, honestly. At the end of the appointment, I paid the $35 and they made a big deal about giving me the free service, and re-iterated that the'y'd told me that it didn't include "massage or other stuff." If you're the Owner/Operator of Cosmo Bleu and reading this, it'd be good to be more transparent with your potential customers. If you're a potential customer, it's a good pedicure, but expensive for what you get - especially if you're anticipating getting your heels filed for the $35 bill. read more

I've been going to Aguri for years for haircuts. She does an excellent job listening to what the client wants rather than pushing her own agenda. Recently I've tried highlights, and she has a talent for color as well. I do wish they would update the decor, particularly the seating and area around the sinks. I usually go to the city for my hair but didn't have the time to get there so I very nervously took a chance on going here (I'm a fake blonde, as any fake blonde knows getting your hair done somewhere new is terrifying) The receptionist very politely and amiably put up with my babbling and highly recommended Elle--to which I will be forever grateful! Elle made me regret having ever gone through the hassle of going to the city. She corrected the coloring I didn't even know was wrong and now my hair color is perfection. I can't understand the bad reviews every woman walking out of there looked happy and had great hair. The salon is relaxing and calm and the staff is polite and courteous. i don't understand all the negative reviews?? Must be a random account of a competitor. anyway, I wanted to give a review because I got my roots done jan 20 and I had a wonderful experience. I had Elle again and she's just perfect! my hair was in a pony and a bun & my head felt a little sore from it and when she massaged my hair during the shampooing omg it just felt like heaven, my head felt more relaxed and it was just perfect. the coffee here is great too! my hair had been a little dry and damaged from going black to strawb blonde so Elle gave me this keratin shampoo and conditioner which is better than the stuff that I used to purchase from those beauty stores. I have like 9 various shampoos and conditioners but I mean this stuff beats the rest. I think the conditioner is just heaven. my hair went from brittle to thick and soft. I highly recommend it for people with easily tangled and brittle hair. this smells very lovely and its sulfate free. love Elle shes really communicative, listens to my hair & shes patient and super nice and has great recommendations! shes the real deal. I hope people are more open because this is a very nice salon.. always been great read more

This has been an unbelievably wonderful experience in finding a GREAT salon for my wedding!! I always, always say that the mark of a GREAT business is when things don't go perfectly the first time - how do they handle it? adeptly or does the interaction spiral out of control? Well, i could not be in hands, and neither will you if you come here. First, to start off with I need to say that the Bridal Coordinator, Denise, is just impeccable - she assisted this very nervous bride and has coordinated a network of complex updo's, blowouts and braiding situations, as well as makeup for a smattering of family, friends, nieces and for me, not to mention the trials that had to work around my demanding schedule - a herculean task in and of itself!! Next she helped me through the scheduling of trials. Mind you, my first trial turned out okay, but not great. I would be remiss to point out, that this was ENTIRELY my fault - i showed up to my trial not only without pictures, but without actually having given my hair any actual thought (i know, i sound absurd!). So of course the trial didn't yield the final result. No worries whatsoever. All along i knew i was in GREAT hands. We scheduled another trial for the following week and that one went perfectly! I could not have been happier! Lastly, Denise assisted me with coordinating MANY MANY appointments for my family members, sisters, sisters in law, nieces. Let me add that organizing my family is like herding cats. Denise coordinated us all (12 of us!!) in short order and in logical orders - the day is going to be so so smooth because of her efforts!!! Everyone that you encounter in this salon is excellent to work with and kind and engaged (ha!) even with clients (like me!) who really don't make it easy for them! I've been going to Cosmo Bleu for several years and have had the most wonderful experience every time! Everyone is professional and welcoming, the salon is clean and peaceful. I have been going to this salon for a while and was initially pleased. However, the quality of the staff is highly uneven. Some of the employees are arrogant and disrepectful. Today, they were simply not in the mood to blow-dry my hair, so I had to leave with wet hair, even though I wanted a blow-dry. Avoid this salon, if possible read more

I just had the most terrible experience ever. I can't quite recall if I have ever had a haircut this bad. First, they messed up my appointment and had to find someone for me on the spot. I ended up with one so green who couldn't even cut straight. I asked for a simple long bob with A-line and some texture. When she finished for the first time, the edges was very uneven, there were chunks of hair stuck out. I asked her to fix it and her hands started trembling. She kept fixing the cut again and again. Still, there would also be chunks stuck out somewhere. She kept trimming my hair shorter and shorter attempting to smooth them out. Other salon employees started gather around us to watch. Finally, I had to ask her to send someone with more experienced to fix it. She got one of the owners. The owner improved it slightly but it seemed that the stylist had messed up so much that the rescue mission could only go so far. In the end, I walked out the salon with a haircut that still looked like someone have taken a couple of bites of my hair and at least two inches shorter than what I asked for. read more
