Expensive for the average college budget. They do a great job and are the best in town, but the women are EXTREMELY rude. They have an attitude of they aren't tipped every single visit. They don't always greet customers and make honoring discount specials very difficult. They are unprofessional in their business etiquette. They are only good at doing nails but business tact is not their strength at all. Also, be warned several of the women will burn you if you get your eyebrows done here. I took a friend here for a pedicure for her birthday, and we had a terrible experience. Between the poor cleaning practices and bad service at Princeton Nails, I'd recommend doing your own nails over coming here! We had an appointment for 10am, and arrived on time. It was quite busy at the time (there were a few others waiting) and none of the ladies working even acknowledged our presence for about ten minutes. Despite the fact that we told them we had an appointment, we were put in line behind all of the walk-in customers. After waiting for 25 minutes, they were finally ready to do our pedicures. The very quick, 15-minute pedicure was unimpressive: very brief (~10 second) massage, no nail cutting/filing, no cleaning under the nail, no cuticle treatment, extremely brief and careless callus filing (my friend was clearly wincing in pain and they didn't notice), etc. They did not even fully take off my old nail polish before hurriedly and messily applying new polish. I would expect more from a $25 pedicure. Finally, for the worst part. They were rushing through many pedicures while we were there, so I saw them cycle people in and out of the pedicure chairs many times. In between clients, they did almost nothing to clean the foot bowls; at best, there was a brief water swish around, but often there was nothing. When I sat down at my chair, the ledge you put your feet on to have them painted was still covered in the old soggy paper towel from the previous client (which stayed there throughout my pedicure!). I have worked at a salon and so I know the cleaning procedure for pedicure chairs, and t it involves MUCH more than what they did. Unless you want a foot disease, I would strongly recommend against a pedicure at Princeton Nails! read more

Just left Princeton Nails with my gel manicure. This was my fourth visit and it will be my last. My last three visits made me feel like I am in the way and not valued as a customer - rushing me through the polish removal, filing, and polishing. When I am paying $35 for a gel, I expect a really great result. When I first visited them in January, I was a new customer and they treated me well. Took their time and chatted with me. Now, I am just a number. Tonight I left with lumps on three of my nails and their answer was for me to come back tomorrow morning when I have to be at work. The reason I have been going to Princeton Nails is due to my son giving me a gift card for Christmas, and now that I have used the value of same, I am going to try Butterfly Nails in Princeton next time. This place would have been better if this lady didn't keep jabbing her clippers into my cuticles and made me bleed on one finger and hurt the 4 others. But overall, the experience wasn't too bad because the hot stone massage was really cool and the Korean ladies were super nice. Her recommendation of the shellac french has been a good idea so far, lets see how it keeps up in two weeks as promised, I have faith though. My bridesmaid made appointments for manicures and pedicures for five people for the day before my August wedding. We were operating on a fairly tight schedule before the rehearsal, but when she called to make the appointments, they had told her they had spots for five at 2pm. She made the appointments, over 6 weeks in advance. When we arrived for the appointment, they checked the appointment book. They had no record of the appointment being made, but the lady who took the call and made the appointment clearly remembered it being made. They made no effort to accommodate us, despite the fact that the mistake was clearly on their end and despite the special circumstances of our situation. I was appalled by their total lack of care and their unwillingness to admit any wrongdoing. Do not use. read more

On my weekend trip to Princeton I went to this store because my friend recommended to me. I've never had a better manicure; I usually don't get anything other then a regular mani but they asked if I wanted to try the shellac and I actually really like it. My nails don't feel like they would get damaged and they've been on for a while and I have experienced any chips or damage. While I was drying I accidentally touch the table and make a small dent on the polish but the lady who was doing my nails was really nice about and fixed it on the spot without complaining. My pedicure was really relaxing. I told the lady my feet were feeling a bit rough and she put in a lot of effort and extra care in scrubbing my feet. The little foot massage was a plus. The store is so cute and I enjoyed talking to the Princeton locals in the store too. Being an avid Yelper I had to write a review about this place. I would give this one star if it weren't for the two amazing technicians I've had there before (Rosa and Chrissy). If you can get an appointment with one of them, you'll have a good experience. That being said, I made a pedicure appointment for my mom and I.. When we got there, they only were able to accommodate one person but didn't tell us. So I got my pedicure while my mom sat in the waiting chair the entire time. The owner waved her away when she asked what was going on. The pedicure I had was HORRIBLE. The "massage" consisted of 15 seconds of rubbing in lotion on each leg, and a quick hot stone massage. Emphases on the HOT. The stone burned very badly and left a red burn mark on my foot. We paid and left immediately after my pedicure and didn't stick around for my mom to get hers, which was scheduled for the exact same time as mine. I'm bummed that I'll be missing out on the great manicures and pedicures I received from the two techs mentioned earlier, but we will NEVER be returning. read more

Overall, there was a lack of attention to detail, low quality of work, and poor customer service. It is probably the worst nail salon I have been to and I've tried to give them a chance multiple times. I've been 4 times since it is conveniently located near campus, each time hoping for a better experience. I've gotten a pedicure, manicure and gel manicure. In the 3 most recent times, the manicurist rushed and the polish came out sloppy. When I've asked for something to be fixed (fixing a nail that was filled crooked, fixing uneven polish, cleaning up polish around the nail bed, etc.) the staff seemed annoyed and sometimes refused to fix it. Twice they cut my cuticles too far and made them bleed. I am sure they work really hard but it seems some staff don't care if you like your nails or have an enjoyable experience. read more

I go here routinely (once a month), and can definitely confirm that the quality of the nail services, and the efficiency/convenience are great. the manager and staff could benefit from a basic "how to interact with customers" training, though - like acknowledging you when you arrive (and not seeming like you're a nuisance for having shown up!), asking about the tip more discretely, not talking about customers in front of other customers, etc, as well as providing itemized receipts for services. Despite the poor customer service, all of the technicians I saw were really good, so I keep going back - just don't get why they don't put in at least minimal effort to be nice to customers. read more

I took a good friend here around a week ago to get our nails done, and as usual we got shellac manicures. My friend got a shimmery nude while I got a darker tone, and they came out fantastic - super shiny and not too thick. Well afterward during lunch, I nicked my nail on the edge of a door. When I went back to the salon to ask them about it, the owner quickly accommodated us and had someone re-do the nail promptly at no charge or complaint. I went with my friend and we were rushed to pick the nail color. Then the nail technicians filed my nails either short or long and she filed my friends nails in two different shapes (one hand square and one hand oval) when she asked the nail tech if she could file the to a square shape the nail tech said no. The gel polish was around my fingers so curing them burnt my hands. When I arrived home I had to get my nails fixed and filled. It was over priced for a sloppy job. 10/10 would NOT recommend!! read more

Absolutely worst nail experience I've ever had. I got a powder dip manicure- the woman used the wrong type of base coat resulting in her having to take everything off and re-do them. Her second try was quick and sloppy, leaving large chunks of nail polish under my nails. I was still charged full price despite being there for an hour and a half as a result of their errors, and my nails are still lumpy and not finished correctly. At that point I just wanted to get out of there rather than have her try and fix them for a third time. Would not recommend, and never going back. read more

I had Julia and she was great with my standard gel manicure. She was also very professional as right before me there were a couple of young children getting their nails done, with each finger a different color, and they were a pretty rowdy group because of their young age. He wouldn't seat one of us because we were late by 5!!! So the 2 moms decided not to take the service. Then he refused to paint the girls nails and made us wait wait wait. An hour later, this guy and his bad attitude later, our girls got their mani-pedi. The didn't get to sit with each other. They didn't get to do it at the same time. I've been getting my nails done here for 2 years and I'm always completely satisfied! They have the best spa pedicures. The massage chairs combined with Maria's foot massage feels like I got a totally relaxing massage, without paying for it. I also love the Shellac manicures, they last 2 to 3 weeks with zero chipping! I'm moving out of the area so I had to yelp about it. I've seen regulars there all the time and I think they only people writing reviews are the unhappy ones, so I wanted to recommend them. This was my first time going to Princeton Nails. I just walked-in for an acrylic fillin. They were price competitive, used really good product (OPI acrylic vs the regular stuff), and were among the most polite I have come across in the area. She also did a phenomenal job; the shape and length were exactly what I wanted, and she did an impeccable job with the painting. After they were dried, she even put my coat on for me! Went in today for a regular manicure. It's passable, but I can honestly do better at home. I had to ask the technician to stop going after my cuticles after she made me bleed. I also had to ask her to paint all the way to edges (she was leaving some awkward spaces around my cuticles, for some reason?), and she started doing that. Still, the outcome is pretty damn sloppy. I went with a friend and hers came out better. I think they just need some quality control--it seems like your experience depends on who you get, which is a problem. It was cheap enough that I'm willing to try them one more time and I'll update then. Otherwise, I'd never go back again. read more

I had a terrible experience at this place. I had scheduled an appointment more than a week ago and to my surprise when I went there this afternoon my name was crossed off and instead they put another name!!!. I was on time to my appointment and for no reason 'someone" decided no to honor my appointment. There was no explanation, no one knew who did what. I've been getting my nails done here regularly for about a year and they always do a great job. I get shellac and it always lasts longer than 2 weeks. The "regular" pedicure is one of the best I've had and includes a lot of thing you usually have to pay extra for. I have been going to this nail salon for the past year. Despite, what the reviews say, I have had nothing but positive experiences here. The nail techs are friendly and courteous. They do a wonderful job. I come every two weeks for a pedicure and gel manicure. The owners are delightful. I have never felt rushed and enjoy a relaxing mani and pedi. Don't go ! I was silly enough to give this place a second chance today :(. Big mistake ! First time they did a so-so job and I forgot about it because it is good to be understanding a forgiving... but today I called for an appointment and was confirmed fir 6:00pm for two pedicures ( one adult and one kid). We arrived 5 min before our appointment ( first one ever for my 4 yo ) and we were not even greeted :( . After standing there for 5 min I got their attention and said we are here for 6:00pm appt and got "yes,yes,we are a little busy now and we will take you next" ... 20 min passed and we are still waiting and my 4 yo said "it's taking so long... I am hungry now" and we walked out of the place . No one cared to ask us about anything or even offer to sit:( . I am never going back there and will not recommend this place to anyone . TERRIBLE. BUYER BEWARE. Definitely agree with some of the feedback that's been posted here already. Staff is usually very rushed and impersonal - and even if you make an appointment with a particular staff member for certain date/time - they may or may not honor it depending how busy they are. Beware - there are new staff members who do not know what they are doing and will test their first tries on you. You may leave with a terrible looking manicure and cuts on your fingers, and a terrible looking pedicure. Overall experience is not relaxing and I do not recommend. If this is the only choice you have out of convenience make sure you micromanage the experience and expect a mediocre outcome or you will likely leave disappointed. read more
