I was so disappointed with my visit at Princeton. I had been there several times before my last appointment and called to make an appointment for a hair cut and color. When I arrived a little early, my stylist had me immediately get to her chair (Yay! or so I thought). I have shaved sides and the top if my head is curly and maybe 2" long and I was only interested in coloring the stop. I was told immediately that was not an option as my stylist did not have that much time. (Although that was clearly why I was there.). Then she proceeded with my hair cut and checking her watch every time she stood in front of me. I went to a Aveda Salon hoping to get pampered as I was out for the first time after December hip replacement surgery. Then my stylist asked if I would like my hair washed and I thought, well, at least a good head massage. Her wash and conditioner took no time at all, no massage. She then towel dried my head and wanted to know if I wanted to schedule the color. I will not schedule any more appointments there. I could have saved myself $40 and gone to the generic salon in the Kroger strip mall near my house. I just expected so much more than I experienced. read more

This is a long overdue review of an awesome Aveda salon. I have been going to Gage since this salon opened, almost four years ago. The employees are all so friendly, the place smells amazing - no chemical smell (which true Aveda products don't have), and it's a relaxing place. Upon entering, you are immediately offered water or tea. I have always gone to an Aveda salon, but was so tired of having the prices go up each time I saw my stylist or colorist. New customer's get deals, but loyal customers just get higher prices. After years of going to the above mentioned Aveda salon, I have since found out that the reason for their chemical odor is because they use Redken coloring products, NOT Aveda. No sticker shock at Princeton Salon. When i first went, i are 'locked in' to the original price I paid for my cuts and color. Since Gage is a master stylist, his prices are on par with the other master stylists - there is not an extra charge for him. We hit it off immediately, so I always have a good time while I'm there. Since I have such thick hair, he always books a long time to hi-light my hair, which is only shoulder length. I am so anal about my 'light blonde' (gray) showing around my face, that he paints a hi-lighter on before he even gets started with the strands. The few times I've felt I could still see gray, he graciously re-did the portions I was concerned about. In retrospect, it's only hair, but I examine it like I'm looking under a microscope, and Gage has never once been anything but gracious and making me feel good - he wants his clients to be happy with their cuts and color. I have also used Nicole for hair-cuts, as well as Syenna for color and a cut - both ladies are as awesome as Gage. You absolutely cannot go wrong with anyone in this salon. read more

I only went there (johns Creek location) for roots retouch and hair cut. The staff is friendly and the salon is very nice but the stylist was a disaster. She suggested some highlights and that ended up being a nightmare. I had to go the next day to fix the orange color she left on me. After 3.5hours my beautiful beliage highlights disappeared and put so much color again that my roots are now almost black and no visible highlights, on top of that she made a mess with the product and poured it onto my Kate Spade bag. I would never come back to that place! The manager came to check once I arrived to make a plan on how to fix it but didn't come back to see if the results were right! The stylist's name is Tamra, she seems like a nice person but has no clue of what she is doing. read more

As a new client, I arrived 5 minutes early for my 9:00 am to find the salon locked, lights off. Once the receptionist arrived she was polite and apologetic. When my stylist arrived AFTER my scheduled appointment time, I didn't receive an apology for the wait or even a glance. I had a sense that I had inconvenienced her by arriving on time. I waited until quarter after without being seated, then let the front desk know I would need to leave. It seems customary at the very least to arrive on time for the appointment YOU scheduled for me. read more

I was in town for a wedding and decided it would be fun to go get a quick style with two nieces during our downtime before the wedding. When I called I told them we wanted just a style, nothing fancy, just like they do after they cut your hair and that we needed to be done by 6pm at the latest. They said no problem and we showed up for the appt. I asked how much and the woman at the front desk said it was usually $25 for a shampoo and style but that since we weren't doing the shampoo it would probably be $15 but that she would talk with the stylists to be sure. We waited for more than 40 mins for them to take us back so I asked if it was still going to be possible to get us all done before 6pm. The front desk said it wouldn't be a problem because two stylists would be working on us. Well... only one stylist worked on us and told us the other said she wouldn't do it. Luckily, she was speedy and it only took her an hour for all 3 of us - nothing we couldn't have done ourselves but it was for fun. When we finished and went to pay the stylist told the front desk that it was $45 per person because it was for a special event - um, what? We were attending a wedding not standing up in it! And I asked for and got a simple style! (I changed my profile picture to one taken right before the wedding started so you can see the style I walked away with) - when I said we were quoted much lower and we didn't get formal styles, she said that there was nothing she could do and we would have to take it up with the management on Monday. We were already late at this point and the stylist knew it so I gave up and paid it. I called on that Monday and was told no one was available and that they would definitely have someone call me back since they agreed that was not acceptable. It has been 3 weeks and no one has called me back or followed up in any way. This is not a good way to run a business. Customers beware. read more

Hair Hell Nightmare!!!!! I booked an appointment with Emily Simmons and it was Hell! She did a consult before my appointment. I asked for blonde highlights with a hair cut. I left with dark/very dark hair and NO blonde in my hair. I told her before I left that this is NOT what I wanted as we discussed in the consult a week prior to my appointment. She said "it looks fine". I asked for the manger to look at my hair and Gage/the manager was 2 chairs away and would not come over and look at my hair. I told her I didn't see any blonde and I want a the color fixed. She said she didn't have time and she didn't bother to cut my hair. She took the scissors and took a tiny bit off the back and charged for a 2 second haircut. I was very unhappy with her attitude and went to the front and paid full price $255.00 plus tip. I always tip and I should have demanded to talk to GAGE. He was "too busy". So, now I have HAIR FALLING OUT AND NO LONGER A BLONDE!!! Don't walk into Princeton Salon unless you want to walk into HELL and live with it! GAGE the manager never apologized for "junior" go back to beauty school EMILY and the hell of my dark hair falling out from her dark highlights. JUST DON'T DO IT. REGRETS WITH PRINCETON AND EMILY AND GAGE. Both need to go back to beauty school and learn about hair and how to treat a client. read more

Gage is bae! No one else is allowed to touch my hair. I love him. He is honest and will tell you if something will not work for your hair. He is so humble and sweet. Thank god I found him! I had scheduled an appointment 2 months prior. The day prior to my appointment, they did call me to confirm appointment. I arrived and checked into my appointment 10 minutes early. 15 minutes after my appointment time (25 minutes total waiting) the woman at the front told me that my hair dresser doesn't work on Wednesday. I love Princeton Salon and Spa! I followed them to their new location in Johns Creek from the Mall of Georgia. The staff is super friendly, and they're all very young. This is great because they are in touch with all the newest and hottest trends. I never color my hair, but earlier this year I decided to try and get some ombre highlights. My stylist did a fabulous job. It was so great that I decided to get more highlights later. If you prebook your appointment you get a free deep conditioning treatment, and if you refer a friend you and your friend get $10 off your next hair cut! This salon is spectacular, from the minute you walk inside you can feel the stress leave your body. The decor is open, and fresh; the music fits the ambiance, and it never smells like chemicals. Everyone who works there is über friendly and helpful. I have been going to Gage for about 4 years now, and he does my hair exactly how I like it. He gets to know his client's style and needs, therefore working his magic. The salon prices vary depending on who you go to see, so it's really great for everyone. Worst haircut of my life. Seriously- stay away! I've been to this location a couple times and have usually gotten the more junior stylists to do my hair. The last time I went, the stylist cut it all the same length (when I asked for layers), and the cut ended up really boxy. I figured that's what I get for going with the most junior stylist they have, so for my last appointment I asked who was the best and ended up going with a "master" stylist. I'm really not over exaggerating when I say it was the worst haircut of my life. I showed her a picture of the cut I wanted with multiple angles and my hair is not even close. It's at least two inches shorter than the picture (and what we talked about), and when you hair is shorter than your shoulders- 2 inches is a lot. STAY AWAY!!!! read more

Princeton Salon has done it again... third time in less than a year! Appointment time was 11am today and still no stylist. And to make it even better the stylist (Allie) has a cut in the middle of the color service. The 35-minute delay is noted for the prior client adding services. Apparently as a salon practice, they have no regard for others' time. I would avoid this business at all cost unless you have an entire day to kill and don't mind feeling like your time is disrespected. We've given them too many opportunities to do the right thing to ever go back. read more

After more than 10 years with my stylist at Carter Barnes, her health gave out. She deserves a good retirement! If it wasn't for her, however, I wasn't going to trundle into Buckhead, so I was left adrift to find a good colorist and cutter. I have been going to a local, well-known salon in the Peachtree Corners area, but it felt too impersonal. I decided to give Princeton Salon a try because it is an Aveda Salon. Siyana colored and cut my hair. She did an excellent job and gave me some great tips on styling my hair. The color just didn't work for me, though. I called the salon and asked if she could squeeze me in and fix things. She graciously accommodated me. She spent nearly 3 hours correcting the color -- foil highlight, glaze and other techniques. She did not charge me. I cannot express my gratitude and appreciation for her professionalism and skill. I am thrilled with the results and will return to Siyana. Overall, I feel confident in recommending this salon. They use great products and will bend over backwards to make their customers happy. I am VERY happy. read more

Exceeded my expectations! I was looking for a hair salon that wasn't too expensive (sorry, $60 for a cut hurts my wallet!). Honestly I find some salons a bit intimidating and stuffy, but Princeton is by far the best salon I have visited (and an amazing value)! The place is gorgeous, spacious, relaxing and very modern. It feels luxurious from the moment you step inside. The staff is very friendly and not at all intimidating, they're all so gorgeous and cool. I got a cut from a new talent stylist and she was amazing. My cut looks great (she blow dried it beautifully!) and all the Aveda products she used smell delicious and very luxurious! I had been coloring my hair for several years. The color I was using was extremely gentle, so my hair was really soft and shiny, but I had several different shades of brown due to changing colors over time. My husband finally convinced me to go get my hair professionally colored, and my daughter was the one that found Princeton Salon. I researched the different stylists, and Gage was the one that overwhelmingly had the most positive reviews. I was a little nervous, because I had not highlighted my hair in such a long time. I was also nervous, because he seemed so young to have such an incredible following. Now I completely understand why. He is the sweetest person I have ever met, and takes the time to listen to exactly what you want. He gives his input on how to improve something, but wants his clients to leave feeling beautiful. I walked out with beautiful highlights that look sun kissed. I'm still a brunette, but with beautiful caramel highlights. When I saw him again he cut my hair to freshen up the look and shorten some of my layers. He took his time, and kept my length even though he took 1/2 inch off the length. My hair looks so beautiful, and I get compliments all of the time. If you want to look your best, make an appointment with Gage. You will not be disappointed! read more
