My wife and I have been shopping for the right car for almost 2 weeks now. Our first go to was Wolfchase Toyota since we live in Bartlett, but we're so happy we decided to make the drive out to Principle Toyota! Garwyne was an outstanding sales rep for the company and created a comfortable atmosphere during the entire sales process. I've bought several cars through dealerships, and it can almost be a dreaded process due to the atmosphere that reps can create. I can't rave about Garwyne enough, and I would tag him if the dealership recognized him as a salesrep on this website. I would recommend this dealership solely on our experience with Garwyne; 5 out of 5. Peter, on the other hand, almost caused the sale to fall through. My wife and I loved walking into his office (sarcasm), after spending an hour trying to get diplomas (that hadn't been released yet due to COVID), proof of residence, and trying to track down a paystub, for him to say, "Obviously, none of what you provided will work". That really set the tone to a tainted experienced in the finance department. Then, when talking about warranties, he refused to take a "No, but thank you though". To the point of being insulting that we "didn't understand how much computer systems cost", and APPARENTLY we couldn't trust the manufacturer to be on top of their own quality control (I honestly couldn't believe that came out of his mouth). When I have to vocally defend my own choices, and explain to him that as a mechanical engineer that works at a manufacturing facility that I fully comprehend how mechanical systems designs work to a finance manager, it's a bad look. The guy was unbelievably rude. Let's be clear here, the only reason this is not a 1 star review is because of the sales staff. read more

Failed to respond usefully to 3 calls and texts describing assistance needed by distressed traveller: Canned response stating service personnel would call back. No response, even when informed on second call that there was no response on first call. Useless service. Telephoned competitor and was told to bring vehicle in for immediate service. I went to look for a new car today. The sales pressure at this place is about as high as it gets. The salesperson cared about what he wanted and not about what I wanted. He kept talking over me, actually arguing with me, and interrupting me in an attempt to get his way. And then to put a cherry on top, I got a call from their customer service dept. while I was driving home. They called me from a number that had my area code, which happens to be an out of state area code. I'm still wondering how they did that. But the intention was clear. They wanted to make sure I picked up the call, and assumed I would if I saw my own area code on the incoming call. Real scumbag kind of stuff. I would never buy a car from this place. read more

I bought a corolla last week. I bought a fancy used 2014 I can just barely afford. IMHO sales folks were somewhat push and at times patronizing. I asked to be given a different sales person because I was receiving texts from the first one while at work and arranging for a rental car with hertz asking when was I coming in? Could I come in today? Did I need to reschedule our "appointment?" It created drama when I complained to someone in the office, which got that sales person in trouble. Awkward drama. The new sales guy: "you need to make up your mind. Tell me the truth, are you going to buy from us?" I was glad this dealership has a contract with USAA, which allows for price certification through USAA's car buying service. Also their service and parts department is excellent and they are very closeby. I think their sales staff needs some training on customer service, but their cars are good quality and pricing seems ok. read more

So, I see the reviews and who cannot miss the commercials by the GM every 15 minutes in the morning talking about integrity and customer service. Not my experience. I have purchased well over 30 cars in my life. Here are my takeaways. I liked my sales person Richard. He was non-pushy while still representing the cars openly and fairly as he knew them. And now for the downhill slide. This was the only occasion I never spoke to or met a Sales Manager until well after I experienced an issue. Without going into the details let's compare used car processes. Principle does very little to used cars of certain price points by there own admission. Just safety inspections in which they failed to catch an issue on mine. OK, I get it, why throw a bunch of money after a sub $10k car, or heck why actually complete the inspection? But, AutoNation dealers perform a full inspection on the vehicle and provide a 30 day warranty. I have experienced both dealerships integrity and customer service after I have left the lot and my future $'s are going to where they feel the safest and most appreciated. read more

Principle Toyota is the worst dealership I have employed for service. The sales persons tell lies. The service department service has dropped to a zero. My Running boards were bent two times. The service department used after-market breaks on my 4Runner and charge me for Toyota parts without informing me. The service tech attempt said I needed a new AC and Air filter. H lied. I change the filter a week before arriving. I had to call corporate to get my breaks repaired. After three visit i continued to have problems. Finally i went to Wolfchase Toyotato get the work complete. I have purchase a Camry and two new 4 Runners from principle. I will never purchase or service my vehicle at their dealer ship. Called them yesterday to say we were driving 2 hours one way to see a Nissan truck. Start of the test drive the tire pressure light is on, middle of the test drive, Master warning light comes in - (checked the manual). Wait 30 minutes in the dealership standing around like idiots and little sales girl comes out to say "it was the gas warning light". No, not the gas warning light - that is indicated by a circle - master warning light is indicated by a triangle and we have a triangle. Desperate to sell it to me and I would be driving a lemon if I had bought it. Little sales girl was mad but I am not too happy to waste my time and money to go there for nothing. This is the worst delaership in Memphis...they are crooks. Bought a used vehicle in December 2012, and it has been in the shop for over five months. Dealership lied about Car Fax, and on;y patched bad motor instead of replacing it with rebuilt motor as promised, motor went bad less than a month after getting it back from dealer, and we are now out another $3000.00 trying to get car fixed. I bought my Toyota from Principle Toyota in Memphis, TN two years ago. When I bought it, we were all in the middle of the airbag recall. I asked if my car was part of that and was told no, it was cleared. A few days ago I received a postcard telling me that my car WAS included in the airbag recall and that I should call to schedule my appointment asap. Toyota confirmed I needed to replace my airbag. How incredibly irresponsible of Principle Toyota to allow my family, including my small child, drive for two years with a defective airbag. I understand people will say what is needed to sell cars, but my car sat on their lot for two months before I bought it. There was no reason to not replace it at that time, then when the customer asks for a an honest answer, I was not given an honest answer. I will not be going back to Principle Toyota to purchase another car. read more
