My daughter called about a vintage car they had. I'm in the market for a vintage '68 beetle as her first car. So she calls up, guy tells her "oh it's the owners and it's a conversational piece not for sale" and then goes to say "well we'd be retarded to turn down $25k for it" I'm not a snowflake but damn guys. Who talks like that today? You're a salesman and I'm extremely interested in that car. You don't talk to a young girl like that, let alone anyone. Takes a lotta balls to talk to a young girl like this. Just say the car is NOT AVAILABLE. Don't go into a massive talk about how the owner has had many offers but won't sell it and how "we'd be so retarded to turn down --" whatever price for it. Just weird. My daughter always sees this car on our trips to DC passing us on the highway. It's her dream car. So I called up in hopes of dropping at least 7k and getting her one (since the market shows they barely sell for 11 or less) but the verbiage used with her and how quickly he hung up and was rude.... Warning: this will be a long review. More of a story. The summary is this dealership lies and is incompetent with respect to repairing a car. I usually fix my own cars but I needed the car (a 2006 Jetta TDI) fixed quickly. It had the check engine light on. I had read the code on the computer which was pointing to a mass air flow sensor. I replaced it twice and it didn't fix it. However that wasn't my primary concern - the car was cutting out - almost felt like a transmission shifting issue. I brought it in, and they told me it needed a mass air flow sensor. I told them I already replaced it an it didn't fix it. They told me it needed to be a VW part! I told them I used a Bosch part which is standard equipment. They said it had to come from VW (lie). I told them if it doesn't fix it I want it removed. They replaced ($460) it and on the drive home it still had the "shifting" issue. When I got home I checked the computer and it had a mass air flow code set again. I cleared the code and it didn't immediately come back. A couple days later I brought it back because it was still jerking, especially going up hills. This time they said it was the mechatronix on the transmission (the computer for the trans). Cost to fix was $2100. I said no to that repair because I knew I could fix it for half that. A couple days later the check engine light came back in. I checked it and it was a mass air flow code. Decided I would bring it back since I paid to fix that and it wasn't fixed. By the time I got it to the dealer it had a turbo whine sound as well. I told them I thought it was something with the turbo. They diagnosed it as a new problem - the turbo control valve. I argued it was the same issue because the mass air flow code was back. They told me there was no mass air flow code (lie - I checked it before bringing it). After arguing and not getting anywhere with them I had them fix it. When I returned to pick it up ($350), I couldn't even get out of the parking lot it was running so bad. I went back in and the service manager asked if I was dropping off. I told him I just picked it up and it was running worse than ever. (Apparently they didn't even test drive it!). He looked at my account and told me I never fixed the transmission. I told him it was the turbo. After arguing for a minute, I took him for a ride and pointed out the turbo whine I was hearing. He said he still thought it was the trans but would take a look. After 10 minutes he called me into his office. He said I was right - it was the turbo. Specifically a pipe on the bottom kept popping off and every time they hooked it back up it popped back off. In discussing it, he said it set a mass air flow code. At this point he said they would cover the cost of the new pipe and they gave me a rental (free) to use until it was fixed. After picking it up, it was back to only having the initial issue I brought it in for - the "shifting" issue. At this point I decided I would just fix it myself since they couldn't fix it. I ran some live data logging using VCDS and determined the issue was a turbo surge. After a week of research on forums and a couple theories which I checked out and eliminated, I found a comment in a forum that said he unplugged the egr valve and it fixed his problem. I did that and it fixed my issue as well! The real issue is a leak in the egr cooler but running it without the egr valve plugged in has basically fixed it until I can work on it further. In the end I think there were two issues - the egr cooler leak was causing what felt like a shifting issue and the bottom hose on the turbo was leaking which caused the mass air flow code. The mass air flow they put on and the turbo control valve replacement was unnecessary. I found it very difficult to argue with them, especially when they lied about what code was on the computer. And I know what I'm talking about. I don't see how people that don't work on cars could ever feel like they aren't being taken for a ride by this dealership. read more

Went to visit the dealership on 9/29. The showroom didn't have the model I wanted. So it was a long hot sweaty walk thru the parking lot. The door handle was scorching hot. No I didn't want to sit on a hot black leather seat in a car that was over 130 degrees. Maybe keep some cars in the shade or inside of the shop. Didn't want me to look any further. read more

I have visited this dealership a couple of times and I must say Joe, the manager there has himself an amazing team. Debbie and Dillon my sales people worked with my trade-in and gave me the best bang for my buck when it came to it. They informed me of things I had no idea about pertaining even to the Volkswagen I already owned. It was remarkable seeing the team work together on my behalf. They could have decided not to spend the amount of time with me that they did but they truly went above and beyond what they are paid to do. They deserve so much more. We were headed to Petersburg from Frederick, MD for the half marathon in our 2002 Eurovan with our friends and dog. The traffic was bad and the transmission started malfunctioning. We were able to make it to our bnb and researched possible service options. After the race, we made our way to Priority for help. Seeing 2 classic vans and a beetle on the lot lifted our hopes! The service department was so wonderful! They made time for our vehicle, checked it out, fixed it and gave us suggested adding a transmission oil cooler. We were on our way in around 2 hours which was amazing considering that it was a Saturday and we had no appointment. Everyone was so nice and professional. Highly recommended! read more

I am getting more frustrated with the fact that Priority Volkswagen let me leave after my appointment on Friday 1/18/2013 (tire pressure and rotation along with a recall being fixed) without telling me about a "cupping" issue with my tires. So I leave and immediately know that something is wrong, since the tires are making a loud noise and I can FEEL that something isn't right underneath. So since the weather was so bad (forecast for a winter storm) I waited until Monday 1/21/2013 to go back (I live and work in downtown Richmond, had to leave work early and drive a half hour to Chester), where as soon as I go up to the desk the guy tells me he can see from there that the tires are "cupped." So they let me leave with cupped tires that are technically not safe to drive on and the only way I can have this fixed is to rotate the tires back (which will only stop the noise, the cupping will still get worse) or I can get new tires. Not only were my back tires cupping before, but now that they rotated the tires and didn't tell me about the issue, now the back tires will be cupping AGAIN. Considering that I have been to Priority multiple times to have work done (even visits specifically having to due with issues I was experiencing with the tires) in the less than a years time since I purchased my car, I would have very much appreciated someone letting me know my tires were cupping so that I would have had them rotated and aligned before they began to get ruined. Now I have tires with perfectly fine tread but are cupped. Awesome. One of my biggest issues is that they told me my tires weren't safe, and when I asked why I was never told before I asked about these unsafe tires and didn't Priority have any kind of responsibility for making sure I left in a safe vehicle, the response was "No, not really." Also one of their solutions they were trying to sell me was an alignment with the same old cupped tires before they started talking about purchasing new tires to fix the cupping. My alignment is and has been perfect for the last year. All of this happening after I paid for my tire rotation which I purchased on my own not with their recommendation so I would never have even known about this problem if I had just had my recall done and left afterwards. I am not very happy with this situation or the service department. I'm also not surprised that I didn't receive a follow-up call with a survey on my experience like I normally do. I'm sure there is nothing that you can do at this point as now it is *my* fault the tires are cupped, but I would like you to take these events into account as I will have to continue coming to your service station since I have Priorities for Life and I'm not sure that I can get work done anywhere else, although at this point I would much prefer to. I will just see them on my next service appointment, where I'm sure my car inspection will fail because of my tires. Thanks! read more

Regarding the business, everyone was very professional, well-groomed, and polite. The building and the restrooms were very clean, which is always a relief. I would suggest that they improve the "kids play area" before calling it such, as it was 20 degrees colder than the already cold dealership, the TV didn't work, and the "games and toys" were haphazardly thrown into the cabinets. I would suggest not going here . You have to call 87,543 times to get someone to answer the phone HOPEFULLY . It's gonna take 3 weeks before they can even tell you what's going on with your car , again HOPEFULLY. Meanwhile they don't have cars you can use while yours is in THEir shop . They do things in their own time meanwhile you're stuck without any transportation. Even when I called a other department trying to get to the service department the person stated it's hard getting someone to answer the phone . Volkswagens are great vehicles and if you're in the market for one, do yourself a favor...choose another VW dealership. I purchased a vehicle from this dealership when they were Priority Volkswagen. The experience was good so when I was ready for a new car I went back. This turned out to be a mistake on my part. I purchased the vehicle in May of 2020 and they just sent the paperwork over to the DMV to register/title the vehicle in my name last week (Feb. 2021) AND the DMV still doesn't have all of the paperwork that they need from Loyalty. They put plates on my vehicle, gave me a registration for my glove box, they just never sent anything to the DMV. Initially I was told there was a hang-up on the DVM side. I reached out to the DMV and they assured me that that was not the case, they hadn't received paperwork from the dealership. Next I was told there was a backlog because of the Corona Virus. Then I was told that because people were working from home someone forgot to click a button. I started trying to resolve this issue with the salesperson who sold me the vehicle. When that didn't get anywhere I went to the Asst. Mgr. Finally I went to the GM who assured me that he would personally see to it that the issue was resolved back in September. Fast forward to Feb. 2021. When the new vehicle didn't show up on my property taxes, I reached out to the three of them AGAIN. I was sent a copy of the title showing that it was in my name. Today I received a letter from the DMV that the vehicle was JUST registered to me last week, AFTER I emailed them to follow up. Additionally, they still haven't sent the DMV all of the documentation they need to complete the paperwork. We're on month 9 now. read more

Urgh what terrible customer service with terrible communication skills. I bought a new car. When I went to close the deal they added $3k to the list price and tried to slip it through without me noticing. I called them out and said I was going to take my business to another dealer. They then came back and lowered the price to match the competitor. So I agreed to the deal (which was still higher than initially listed on the deal worksheet). The next day I went to do the paperwork. All went well. Two weeks later I received an email from the sales manager saying the paperwork was rejected by VW because it did not print correctly. I was told that they would FedEx me replacement paperwork to sign. A week later, nothing. I contacted them and was then told that the Finance Manager would bring it to my house in person that weekend to sign. I received no phone call and no paperwork. I followed up again. I finally received the new paperwork to sign and it was incorrect. They added additional stuff onto the deal, that I did not take when I signed the original paperwork - such as gap insurance. I was told that the gap insurance could easily be cancelled. I waited a couple of days and then contacted the dealer for confirmation that the gap insurance was cancelled. I was then told that the Finance Manager would come back to my house (again) the following day with fresh paperwork. Again no one showed up and no communication was received. 30 days on, still no confirmed paperwork for the new vehicle and they have yet to pay the trade-off on my trade-in. So I am still on the hook for the payments for this traded-in vehicle in addition to this new vehicle. Our first VW and not a good first impression. I have bought 15+ cars in my lifetime and never had these kinds of problems. I usually agree to a price, do the paperwork, drive off and that is it. Make sure you read the Yelp "filtered' reviews at the bottom. A lot of bad experiences are filtered out which gives this dealership an inflated star rating. BTW - piece of advice - never, never, never pay sticker price for a new car - no matter where you buy it from. Always price match between dealers to get the best deal and use websites such as truecar.com. read more

Employee refused to look up with out a VIN number. I have swapped the 6-speed into my car and do not have a the VIN he asked.... he said too many parts to look at....... you do search for parts as a job right? He is your part number prick 8N0407272G. Went in for oil change 8/16/2018, they also rotated my tires (most places ask if you want them rotated before doing so). No big deal, I paid and left. I got to Jeff Davis Hwy (only got up to around 40mph because of traffic in front of me) and my truck started shaking and making a loud rumbling sound. I thought I had a flat. I was able to pull to the side of the road and when I got out I saw the rear wheel had come off and all 5 lug nuts were in the roadway. How do you screw up something as simple as securing lug nuts. Do you actually think I'm going to feel safe driving my truck again after you supposedly fix the damage done to the vehicle. Words cannot express how angry I am. Can you imagine what could of happened if I was on the highway doing 65/70 mph. I could of died and possible killed someone else because of your negligence. First, before I post the report, the dealership did finally pay for the key after posting a report on dealerrater and emailing the report to them. Still no floor mats. But the meat of this report would be lost without pasting the entire report which includes the key reimbursement. On February 23 , I purchased a 2006 Ford Escape from this dealership. The transaction itself went smooth, and as part of the deal, it was agreed that the dealership would reimburse me for having a second key programmed and also would buy a set of floor mats for the vehicle. The dealership provided me with a "We Owe" slip stating this. I provided a copy of the receipt for the key and was told the check would be in the mail the very next day (yes I fell for the old "the check is in the mail" bit) and they would follow up on the floor mats. 21 days after giving them the receipt and a couple of phone calls later, The matter remains unresolved. I sent the dealership a message via the "contact us" link pasting most of this in the body of the message. I was immediately contacted by the internet sales and then the general sales manager and was assured that this would be squared away the very next day and would be contacted with the update. As expected, neither has happened. I am sure this dealership would like me to just forget about it and just eat the couple hundred dollars, but if I owed them this money, you can bet they would be blowing my phone up to collect. My next course of recovery is to post this message to every dealer review and consumer websites. It disappoints me to have to resort to this, but it is what it is. Again, If this dealership gives you a "We Owe" slip, that's exactly what it means. Maybe they should change it to the "We will promise you anything to make a sale, but good luck getting it" slip. So, almost 4 months after buying this vehicle, and a load of promises, I still don't have any floor mats. read more

I am a Soldier currently attending some training at Fort Lee. I dropped off my car for service on Monday, July 13, 2015. My duty station is in New York City. Before getting to Fort Lee, I took my vehicle to the Volkswagon in the Bronx and had a diagnostic done because the check engine light was on. The service professionals at Volkswagon in NY, told me what the issue was and were going to order the part I needed. However, I was due to be in Fort Lee in a few days so I decided to bring it to Priority Volkwagon instead, once I got down here to Virginia. I felt good dropping the car off because I had read some good reviews about Priority Volkswagon's service. To my disappointment, this was not the case today when I went to pick up the car. I had originally made the appointment for the 90,000-mile service, interior detail, and check engine fix. In addition, there was a piece at the bottom of the car that was loose that I had fixed. My total bill was $895.98 ($363.00 labor and $467.75 in parts). While my car is being serviced, I am paying for a rental car which is an additional cost. When Mr. Ruffin, drove the car into the service garage to turn it over to me, he first asked if I had any issues with the airbag light turning on. I replied that I didn't. I did a walk through inspection of the cars interior and asked if they could tell me what had been replaced with the loose piece. Another service rep who was standing nearby showed me what had been done. Then I looked inside the car. The car had not been detailed. It appeared as if they had cleaned off the floor mats and that is all. There was still grass and mud marks from my combat boots. The car was not dirty when I dropped it off. All I was hoping for was a nice detail to take any dust and dirt from the floor area and sides that get the most dirt, especially after a long day of work. I felt as if the amount of money spent for service would have warranted a better job at trying to clean the interior of the car for me. I shared my disappointment with the assistant manager in the service department. He handed me the keys and I turned on the car. To my unpleasant surprise, the vehicle shut off within two seconds of being on. I take very good care of my car. There has never been a problem where the car shuts off without being purposely cut off. My schedule at Fort Lee is extremely busy and almost every hour of the day is allotted for something. It would have been great to get my car serviced at Priority Volkswagon, pick up the car when I was told it was ready, and be able to drive off with the peace of mind that I walked away from a place that ensured they performed there work with the best quality they could provide. The assistant manager informed me that their service team was gone for the day and I would have to leave the car in order for them to find out what happened. I had to extend my car rental. I had also arranged to have another Soldier assist me in driving the rental back once I picked up the car. Resulting in someone elses schedule being impeded on because of what appears to be poor service. At the end of the day, I reviewed the receipt that I was given and it indicated that the car had been detailed. Not done. It also stated that there had been a complimentary 27 point inspection done. How is it possible to inspect a car and have something, like what happened today, occur. I have never had any major mechanical issues with the car and now I fear that Priority Volkwagon will return my vehicle to me in bad mechanical condition. It is apparent that there wasn't much attention to detail in servicing the car. Maybe a certain piece was not placed in the right spot. Maybe they forgot to connect an important part. Whatever happened to the car while it was under the care of Priority Volkswagon, should have never happened. I hope that when I pick up the car, the issue has been resolved and the car does not shut off ever again because of the problem they created. I came in to purchase a car from Hayton, on Monday, July 22, 2019. Everyone seemed friendly, but that was expected. Less than 24 hours after my purchase, my car started to malfunction. I went to the dealership 2 days after I purchased the car and while discussing the warranty with the sales manager Joe (who said he would "take care of me"), I made it clear of my understanding- which was that I could return the car within 3 days of purchase (due to my own ignorance of the law, which I hadn't known at the time). When I said I had three days to return the car, he replied, "Well..." before switching the subject back to the warranty. On the third day, I decided to return the car. I let them know I didn't feel safe due to electrical malfunctions, they tried to convince me otherwise. I learned then that I could not return the car and what their definition of cancelling a purchase meant. Instead of asking me if I had been told that the car was non returnable as soon as it left the lot, they simply told me that I should have been told- well I wasn't! Bottom line- this is my first time purchasing a car, and I felt I had a terrible experience. The customer service felt shady and deceitful. I wouldn't recommend anyone dealing with these people unless you have plenty of knowledge of car laws or a lawyer present. read more

If I could rate this dealership less than poor, that would be more accurate. Less than a month ago, I went shopping for a VW Beetle. I found just the right one that I thought would be the right purchase for my needs there, so I applied for financing with my salesperson. I was shortly thereafter told congratulations on my approval. Then it got weird. I had a long wait, to see what the next step was. after approx. an hr. of sitting with the sales member, I was approached by a couple of other people, saying they had a couple of question. One of those individuals was the finance manager. I waited for about another hr., only to be told they had to do some mechanical work on the car to get it ready for me to take home later that day. that was saturday. I was told late on sat., that it would be monday before financing could be squared away. during the course of the day monday, i inquired several times, but no return calls were forthcoming. finally mid-day on tues. the finance manager called to say that everything was approved and they had a bonafide lender. he indicated all he needed to do was have me return to sign more paperwork, i said thank you, i'm on my way. this was approx. 6pm on tues evening. again, i waited for about 2 hrs. and was dismissed by the salesperson, whom he told that i had come in too late, and someone else had a deal working and he couldn't talk to me now. wed. mind you 5 full days later, i again went after work to the dealership, and after a long ordeal i drove the care home. Immediately upon driving off the lot, it was apparent the radio did not work. the radio was also equpped with satelite capability. the next day i called the saleteam to report that my radio was broken. they said bring it in to the service dept. on sat. and they could look it over. I did as i was told, and again there was no resolution offered, and i sat again for 2 hrs. before I was yet again dismissed and sent home. for a solid week i called everyday to ask how they would resolve this issue. I finally got a call back from the general manager who told me they he had a contact at Audio Express, and i could take it there for them to look at, and he confirmed that they would cover this repair and or install of new operable equipment. i went to audio express the following sat., and they said it would be costly to fix and that they would be able to do it that day. I said fine, how about i make an appt. for tues, and i'll drop it off on monday evening after work. when i went to pick up my car yesterday, the audio store informed me that they would need to install a new radio but didn't think they could put in a satelite able radio, because he only was told to install a standard radio. this in spite of the fact i brought the vehicle in with a satelite radio. today i got a call from my salesmember and was left a message saying i was just out of luck and they were not going to pay for the satelite radio, only a substandard version. this is entirely unacceptable. I called Priority and was advised that the sale member was off work, i was advised that the general manager was off work, i was finally given to the sales manager, and i explained the only reasonable expectation on my part was to have the radio replaced with an equivalent radio. i was denied, and told they had gone above and beyond, and wouldn't cover it. In 43 years this is the first review I've ever left on a business. Unfortunately, 1 star is being too generous, but unable to leave 0 stars. First off, the review has nothing to do with the quality of my car, I've had my Jetta for a little under a year now and it's been a great car. However, yesterday I took my car to Priority VW for it's first oil change and inspection since it was covered under their "Priority for Life". But after leaving I stopped along the way home at a rest area and when I got out of the car I noticed scratches all over the roof and hood of my car that most definitely were not there when I left to go to Priority or gave them my car to get serviced. They were obviously new due to the fact that they even scratched away from dirt from where I haven't been able to wash my car lately. I had not left the sight of my car since they handed the key to me neither, so I knew nothing had happened after I got the car back from them. A part of me new I was likely screwed because I had already gotten about 45 minutes away and it would be denied when I returned. But, I decided to return anyway hoping they would acknowledge what they did and take care of it. In the end after speaking with the subjects in service that I just saw and the service manager I got the "that's strange", "I don't know what we have that would cause that", and "if anything comes up we'll let you know". Loosely translated, "we scratched up your car, we aren't going to do anything about it, and there's nothing you can do about it". So I'm done taking care of the damaged they caused on my own and all I can do is leave reviews everywhere possible. My suggestion would be to forget the great Priority for Life deal and take care of your car service on your own if possible. And, if you have to or choose to return to Priority for your car service, make sure you check your car over very well before and after they take possession. Preparing yourself with before and after pictures wouldn't be a bad idea either. They got me good, don't let it happen to you!! read more

I don't even want to give this a 1 star review! I went through a pre approval process to see if I would get approved prior to my credit getting dinged for hard inquiries. Once that process was completed, I went and looked at the cars for sale online. Found a 2018 Jetta for $15k, was interested in looking at it. The sales team called and said I was pre approved, but would not tell me how much I was pre approved for, then asked what I was willing to pay. I told them I am not sure, this is my first vehicle purchase and I am not exactly sure what type of vehicle I truly wanted. But stated I would like to come and see them and possible test drive a few to see how they feel. Stated I was interested in the Jetta and he told me that they didn't have many but would be getting a new shipment within this week. I printed the internet price out and told Josh we would see him soon, long story short, we get up to the dealership, I do NOT like being bombarded by sales people so I drove around looking at the cars and found the Jetta. I like to look at the vehicles privately to be honest, instead of listening to a bunch of sales bull before I even know if I really like the vehicle...I pulled my phone out, looked up the internet price again, and they upped the price by $2500! That was it for me, got in the car and left. Fast forward, Josh from Priority Volkswagen called me back to see what time I would be expected and I told him of my findings, that I was no longer interested in doing business with this company. I ended the call only to have the "internet manager", Christian or Chris, I believe he said, and told him thanks for calling but I was no longer interested in a vehicle at this location. No sooner than I hung up the phone, did I get every sales call and about 50 plus, text messages, from every dealership in the United States, saying they were calling in reference to my inquiry. I assure you, no such inquiry was ever made anywhere else! These company's stated they were calling in reference to a "true car" inquiry. News to me! I have now learned, (from two of the "inquires calling me) (Priority Toyota and Colonial Kia) that this dealership is newly owned by another company that deals with True Car internet sales. Ahhhh Haaa! These sharks sold my info, because I chose to take my business elsewhere after they were caught with their pants down! WOW! Buyer Beware! Shady Shady folks work here! read more

So guys let me just say that not hours after my review,I was contacted by Kenny Dunn at Priority and the next day March 12 I went in to see how they could help me out of this lemon I was in. I am happy to say that between Kenny D. and sales manager John,and extra special thanks to Andy, I was able to find a replacement vehicle, came to some terms that were favorable to me, and at the end of the day I was in a 09 Maxima that I am super pleased with. A little more in payment than I would have liked,but those guys stepped up in the trade (which I wanted them to anyway!) which was the right thing to do. I have a three year 36k warranty, a much better car, and a few other things these guys did for me that let me know they actually gave a hoot about whether or not I left satisfied. I was also impressed again with their salesman DA Davenport,lots of product knowledge and he has a good professional way about him. I dont think Priority made a bundle this time around,especially seeing as my trade is going straight to auction, but thats ok with me after seven months of hell. I will definitely hang in there with these guys now, and I still think the service department is top shelf anyway. They really stepped up to the plate and for the time being,I will certainly remain a customer for a good long time. Everything that happened since Kenny contacted me to the time I took delivery of the new car was head and shoulders above what a LOT of other dealerships would have done to try and rectify the situation. I took my 2009 Jetta Sportwagen to Priority for service on 3/12/2015. I scheduled my appt online and asked for a phone call to answer some questions; no call came. I emailed and asked for a reply to that; no reply came. This is a long story but overall, the service dept. kept me there at least 3 hours longer than necessary ( had a 10:30 appt and car was never pulled in until 1:30). No communication as to why ( did they need parts?) No communication is bad for business. Wasting people's time is bad for business. I was there until they closed at 6 when I was told I would be gone by 3:30. Then I get a call telling me that my car may be leaking oil and for me to keep an eye on that. Did they rush through the work? Forget to use a new oil pan drain plug when the changed the oil? Who knows? No one will return my call. Oh yeah, the mechanic got grease on the beige interior of my car. How can this be satisfied? Three wasted hours at $110 per hour, sloppy work, no communication with the client, no returned phone calls. Seems they got their money and that is what is important to them. Too bad. read more
