Although the salon is charming and inviting to patrons, the haircut I received was subpar. The stylist was super nice and did seem to put a valid effort into my haircut. Unfortunately, however, the haircut was choppy and not what I had intended. After pointing out the issue to the stylist, it was not corrected to my liking... This salon also does not allow the customer to tip on a card and they asked me to Venmo because I didn't have any cash. This policy was not stated in the confirmation email, nor at any point prior to or during my appointment. To note, when you make an appt online, they assign you to any of the stylists, but do not disclose the name or price unless you call to ask (they have a broad range of $55-100). read more

I'm sad and disappointed with my experience here. I had an appointment with Alaina and asked for a body wave (perm with looser curls). She was sweet and took me through the process and explained how it would turn out. I showed her pictures of what I wanted as well. I have fine hair so I knew this process would be a little drying but could do a conditioner after 48 hours. After it was finished there were curls in my hair. I let my hair naturally dry and an hour later they were gone. Unfortunately I am now stuck with dry, splitting hair, no curl and paid $180.00. I wish that she would have used her expertise and perhaps talked me into doing something different or suggested something else. :( read more

I really like this salon , it is a bit smaller than the usual salon and spas but that doesn't take away from the atmosphere of the place . I really like the location too , you do have to drive through the city to get to it and it can be a bit hectic depending on where you're coming from but once you get there it's kinda in its on little area and has parking ! Parking is a big deal in the city lol . The first time I walked in I was greeted by a friendly receptionist and checked in to see Joseph ( he's amazing! Ask for him , he's a hair genius! ) . I love the setup of the salon , it's very modern with the most amazing Glasswork lighting above the reception area , the sale products are neatly displayed to the right and not in your face , they also have a very nice area for snacks and drinks , they really make you feel at home ! Everyone in there seemed very nice and there is a very relaxed feeling in the air there as well , very relaxing. My daughter got her haircut from her " Mr Joseph " and she always loves going to see him for a cut ( just don't ask her about her feelings on the blow dryer, she's not a fan .) She always gets so many complements on how awesome her haircut is , Joseph is the only one who gets the cut exactly how we want it , he knew exactly what I was talking about from the start . She's 4 so I really wanted a nice angled bob, something cute and simple to manage. He not only gave her the bob cut I had asked for but he really got in there and made sure to add texture and flow to her cut so it wasn't just flat and sharp , we love it ! I convinced my husband to get a new haircut this time around and he (reluctantly ) got a longer trendy cut that is in fashion and it looked great but he's a creature of habit lol so as good as it looked he's going back to a close fade ... I tried lol . I have been going to Joseph for almost a year now and have followed him around and for very good reason, he's awesome! He's not only super talented but he's also amazing to be around , we're always cracking up . I love that he's honest and has no problems telling me if something won't work or wouldn't look right , I really appreciate and respect that , he also never tries to upsell me on products I don't need but does suggest things and shows me products when I ask . I have gone through many phases of hair since I met Joseph, he's taken me from icky brassy blonde to a beautiful blonde color melt , blonder color melt and then to a pretty brunette and now to a color melt with vivid fashion colors . He's extremely knowledgeable about color and techniques and is always in classes and staying up to date on trends. One of the biggest things I love about him is his passion for what he does , he truly takes pride in it and it shows . You can see him for beautiful classic colors to more bright and vivid or even something that is in between, he's always up to trying new things and he's worth every penny . Top 5 things about Prive: 1. Location (Silo Point at Locust Point has easy parking, great views and Miguel's-a phenom Mexican joint that will prep your take out while you get a chop) 2. Wine- or really any bevy you want, but mostly wine. 3. Lisa-- She convinced me to revamp my hair into a style that I got me compliments from, "You look 10 years younger" to "That style is perfect for you!" 4. Pampering--Prive makes you feel like a guest from the moment you walk in, regular or noob 5. Price--It isn't Super Cuts, but it isn't ridiculous either One thing to watch is that you can pay by card, but you can't tip on the card, so bring some cash with you. read more

Since Johnna and Jen, both are longtime Baltimore stylists, opened this place this summer, all I can say is...it's perfect! I always get a perfect haircut and style. I just walk away smiling and happy! And the coloring from blonde highlights to lowlights to helping covering up the few grays is always just top notch. Downsides: Both owners are hard to get into, especially for last-minute appointments. However, I'm sure I'd be able to trust any of the other stylists as well. Heather is the absolute best and the rest of the staff is equally wonderful - Michelle at the front desk never goes without asking if you need a refill on your wine or coffee. The atmosphere at Prive is hip and fun, but the service is professional, down-to-earth and friendly. I was so impressed by Heather's technique and knowledge... I'd never had highlights before and she walked me through all the different options (and shades) over the years until I found what I really love. She helped me to find my inner blonde! Since the day they opened their doors I've been a customer and HUGE fan. The level of expertise just isn't found anywhere else in the Baltimore area. I see Johnna for color, Chas for my cut (history there) but the level of expertise is so remarkable that I am confident when Katie does my color or Johnna, Becky, Jenn, etc my cut. There is such a consistency to the entir team's talents. If I need to Chang an appointment at the last moment I am confident in the skills of the person I will see there.
