I called Pro Appliance out in May to look at an electric oven that was failing to rise about 350 degrees. (I did NOT go through a home warranty company.) Carlos, who I have nothing but good things to say about, determined it was a faulty touch pad and the oven, due to its age and unavailability of parts, would need to be replaced. I was given the diagnosis over the phone by Laura, the office person, and immediately I had several questions and asked her to have Carlos call me to help answer them. Carlos did return my call within 24 hours and answered my questions. After speaking with him, I ran what he told me by an electrical engineer (my dad) as well as several other neighbors who have the same oven in hopes someone might have a suggestion which would allow me to repair the oven, not replace. My dad did in fact think it might be possible to repair the oven and had a few questions about "what was found" that I could not answer. So I called Laura and asked her if Carlos would be willing to call me again and have a conference call with my dad. Carlos agreed and he was once again very helpful over the phone. At the end of the conversation we determined the oven was in fact not repairable and I thanked Carlos and reminded him to send me the work invoice as my tenant met him at the house on his initial visit. Almost one month later, I received an invoice via email for $70.00 from ProAppliance. I immediately emailed ProAppliance back and questioned the fee as I was quoted $60 for the service call. I never heard back from them and honestly forgot all about the issue. On August 6th, I received a call from ProAppliance stating that I had an unpaid balance. I immediately called them back, speaking once again with Laura, and explained to her that I was quoted $60 for the initial service call, that I emailed her back in June when I received the invoice questioning why the bill was $10 more. She admitted that she quotes different service fees depending on the travel time so she said it was entirely possible that she did quote $60 back in May. However, she went on to say that she felt with the extra time Carlos spent on my situation (I think she was referring to him calling me twice), I should pay $70 not $60. I have a huge problem with this and explained that no one ever told me two phone calls by the technician would be an additional charge. Laura began to raise her voice, becoming very defensive and saying repeatedly I should pay the extra money because they deserve it. I told her I would happily pay them $70 IF someone had informed me that the cost to speak to the tech, would result in my bill going up. We went around and around for a few moments and finally she told me she had been doing "this" for over 30 years and she "got" it but that they deserved to be paid more. I told her if everyone deserved to be paid based on what people think they should get paid, teachers would be making $200K! It still didn't sink in with Laura and she still insisted I pay them more than what I was initially quoted. In the end, she left the decision to up to me to pay them what I thought they deserved, so I paid them what I was quoted- $60.00. I am a huge principals person and do not believe it is okay to fail to communicate to someone and fail to keep accurate records of your initial quote, then send them a bill for more and lay a guilt trip them. Come on...with so many great appliance repair companies out there, how do you run a successful business on this model? Moreover, is two short phone calls really special service? Shouldn't that be good consumer service? Be cautious dealing with this company and their business philosophy. read more

Our refrigerator was not keeping temperature. So I gave Pro Appliance a call after finding them here on Yelp. Carlos came out the next day to look at it and determined that it was the mother board that had gone out and that the work that was done by a different repair company for the same problem was totally wrong. He said that did not have one of the mother boards on hand but would be back on the next day. Carlos showed up the next day and installed the mother board. After he installed it he told us to keep an eye on it. He was afraid that our compressor might go out do to the faulty work done by the previous repair guy. He gave me his personal cell number and told me to give him a call if the fridge did not cool down. Sure enough the fridge did not cool down. So I gave Carlos a call and he came back on a Saturday on his day off to look at it. He said that the compressor was out and it would be cheaper just to buy a new fridge than repair this one. Disclaimer: This review is based on my experience with Pro Appliance Service working on behalf of Fidelity National Home Warranty. 4 Star service for the technicians especially Carlos. He's very thorough and knowledgeable. He was specific, explained and tested the repair. 3.5 stars for Laura who schedules. I don't know if I started off on the wrong foot with Laura. We went back and forth a lot and then I went back and forth with Fidelity. She was as accommodating as possible but my experience to get the convection motor fan replaced took about 6 months through Fidelity. The big snafu I had was when she told me the technician had forgotten what my work entailed because he couldn't pull my invoice due to how long it's been. She originally wanted to possibly rescheduled because the work could be more complicated. The snafu she ran into was that I requested, the morning of, for a second guy on the job to help pull out the oven since it looked more complicated. She mentioned she explained this to me but I don't recall this matter. The work was completed in 30 minutes. It didn't seem complicated. I'm unsure whether I would use Pro Appliance again because this was my first time dealing with an appliance repair company. But just based on Carlos' service, I would consider giving them another try. read more

A neighbor recommended Carlos from Pro Appliance. My service light was blinking on my SubZero refrigerator. I called them, they were able to come out the same day. Carlos didn't try to upcharge me (someone tried charging me $800 for a similar issue last year) - he just charged me $80 for a cleaning and reset of the condensor. Seems to be working just fine now. Recommended by neighborhood group. Needed washing machine repair done. Carlos showed up ontime and was professional. I had priced the parts that he replaced online and they were about $95. He charged $77. He was here for over an hour and did another small fix to the dryer. Total bill was $177. I had an oven repair done by one of the large local companies and they charged $140 for a $40 part. Agree with the previous poster about Carlos. Seemed honest, friendly and competent. Will be calling him for future services. read more
