I waited until the last moment and was referred to Prodiver from another company. They were able to take me out the next day. Great Dive Master, (wasn't too bossy, wasn't too distant). He knew the back wall of Molokini and briefed us perfectly. I forgot to get my signature and stamp for my dive log and showed up to the boat yard on my way to the airport a couple days later. My husband and I went diving with ProDiver Maui. Mark was the boat captain and Birch was the dive master. First dive was inside Molokini and was super chill. We saw lots of cool fish including 1 shark, eels etc. second dive was outside the crater. Conditions were a little dicey with current and surge and I tapped out shortly into the dive. Birch was so professional about getting me to the boat safely but also continuing the dive for the other divers. I can't say enough good things about Birch and Mark. They are both super knowledgeable and relaxed. Refreshments on the boat were tasty and plentiful. Boat was clean and well equipped. My girlfriend and I were in Maui for a week this month and we chose to complete our advanced open water certification through ProDiver. The entire process from getting information over the phone from JB, signing up over the phone with one of the owners Jay, and then completing the course with Brandon was easy and flawless. There are many benefits to diving or completing a certification with ProDiver, I'll list as many as I can think of: 1. They have a pool on-site 2. Their prices are extremely reasonable 3. Their service in-person and over the phone is top-notch 4. On their boat dives safety and simplicity is top-priority for them. They make sure everyone is SAFE the entire time. They also 'valet' your gear. Meaning if you have your own gear they'll set it up for you before the dive and clean it up for you after the dive. If you are renting gear from them (again very affordable and even included in the cost of a certification class) they will have it on the boat setup when you get there. 5. They have fun. They treat you with respect and they want you to come back. Whether you have 10 dives or 100 dives under your belt you will feel at ease and respected the entire time! Had an amazing 2 dives with pro divers at Molokini. Got to see some white tip reef sharks, an eagle ray, and a manta. All of this to the soundtrack of humpback whales singing in the background. Did both a boat dive with them and a shore dive. * Boat Dive - The crew was very thorough in confirming dive experience with me to ensure I would be able to handle the diving conditions. They let us know what to look for on our dive and then reviewed what we saw after diving. I always felt safe and knew what would happen given any situation that would arise. * Shore Dive - I did a double shore dive, the first with two recently certified divers and one with just the instructor as the dive buddy. Amazingly, the shore dive was the dive where I saw the most interesting animal life. I appreciated that my dive leader (I'm blanking on his name but them man had serious chops!) took into account my comfort level on my first dive (and air consumption) and planned out our second dive accordingly. It ended up creating some fun challenging but safe moments and I had an absolute blast. Overall, I think they do an amazing job tailoring the dive experience for their customers. For value, I definitely recommend doing shore dives because they are fast, affordable, and filled with great things to see if you're looking for wildlife. read more

AVOID Jennifer if you're new to diving. My boyfriend and I booked their introductory class since we both don't have dive licenses. Jennifer is very impatient about our requests and questions, and stopped our introductory class after spending 10 min in the water. When asking if it's possible to reschedule, or get partially refund since we haven't had enough time practicing with the equipments as beginners, Jennifer said it's "impossible for a refund", and yelled us to "TALK TO MY BOSS". Jennifer's boss, the owner of the shop, claimed that we were "rarely bad" among all students in the past 5 years after talking to Jennifer on the phone. Funny thing is, we booked another intro class 2 days after with another dive shop in Maui, and that diving experience went perfectly. - Suits This shop: All gears are carried by instructor's small truck to the beach. Jennifer gave me a wet suit that is much larger, but there were no other options. My body could not fully balance underwater, making it hard to swim (I'm a 10+ year swimmer). Other shop: The first meeting point was their dive shop, where there were tons of suits, masks and shoes for options. The instructor helped to find me 3 suits until getting the perfect size. - Equipment Testing This shop: Just put on the BCD and then none. When my boyfriend questioned that his regulator was not giving enough air, Jennifer said " Just try to breath normally, okay? " Other shop: Check if our BCD are worn properly. Ask us to try on regulators before entering the water, and helped us to adjust the amount of inhaled air (we didn't even know this was adjustable before this time). As a first time diver, the suitable equipments and the instructor's patience are really important to me, and this shop gives none. More ridiculously, the attitude that Jennifer and her boss talk after we ask for reschedule or refund is unacceptable. If you're just paying money for them to find fish for you, go for it. But if you're new to diving and expecting a wonderful start, there are tons of other dive shops in Maui which might be better for you. read more

Worst experience ever. We were taking beginner scuba class with Jennifer (remember this name and avoid her). Jennifer literally dragged us out of the water 5 minutes after we were in and stopped our lesson simply because we asked for help (getting up) twice inside of the water. Her excuse was "we are not ready today", but we simply need a little time to get used to scuba for the first time. The worst thing is, Jennifer refused to refund any money to us. Same words came from her boss. In the end, we spent 200 dollars (100 each) for 5 minutes in the water and get kicked away. read more

Family Dive Day was spectacular! We had a private family diving day with ProDiver Maui today! The entire day was fantastic from pick up to drop off. Both Jen and Birch were outstanding. Jen was a tremendous captain who had us laughing at her jokes, throughout the day, while demonstrating some phenomenal boating and captaining skills. Birch was attentive and thoughtful, while also clear and detailed in his dive reviews and dive mastery. He was also outstanding at leading our family pack (6 of us) on 2 beautiful drift dives off Molokini, one on the inner cove and the 2nd on the outer wall. We were also so fortunate to have another dive master and master photographer diving with us today, Barry, who certified me previously and is also amazing. We felt safe and extremely well cared for given Birch's detailed dive reviews and consistent attention to us while diving. Both dives were so much fun! We saw some beautiful fish, including 2 good sized sharks, a giant lobster and a couple of eels and listened to whales in the distance! While there weren't as many fish on the wall, it was equally beautiful. When back on the boat, we also had some great conversations with the crew, getting to know them all a bit better. The boat was perfect, clean and comfortable with plenty of space for our family. The equipment was new and/or in great shape. All around, I highly recommend ProDiver Maui, they were exactly what we needed and both far exceeded our expectations and far surpassed prior dive boat experiences on Maui!! We had an awesome experience with Prodiver Maui. As certified divers we did 4 days (8 dives) while on Maui, and each was a unique experience. Staff was great ( Special shoutouts to Jen, Lizzie, Keone, Mike, and Birch!) They are excellent with safety and briefings, personal attention, and pointing out rare finds and endemic species. Jen was as excited about great finds as we were, and you can hear her giggle and squeal in some our videos! Would definitely choose them again! We did dives on both prodiver II and III, and glad we did both, as we got even more variety, and dive more spots on Molokini. Also love the fact that they use the Kihei boat ramp, as it's the shortest ride to the crater, and very convenient to where we stay. read more

Incredible diving experience with ProDiver Maui. I'm new to diving (OW, fewer than 10 dives) and this was my first time diving in Hawaii. We were extra lucky and did both our dives at Molokini, the first was a drift dive along the back wall and the second in the crater. We had a standout crew, boat captain Mark and DM Burch were very professional and funny to boot. The equipment was in excellent condition and their pre-dive briefs were comprehensive. Under the water, Burch was attentive, frequently checking in with the divers to make sure we were doing okay. He also pointed out some great fish finds, giving us a mini lesson in Hawaiian marine life. I felt extremely comfortable and had a great time. Great morning at Molokini. Check in early for sunrise boat to the crater and enjoy your morning underwater. Very professional, friendly, safe crew. A dolphin joined us on the short boat ride out (we got a jump on the crowds), and we did some whale watching during the surface interval. We saw a manta ray inside the crater (!) and lots of fish. The backwall drift dive was fun but might be challenging for beginner divers due to the current. read more

Really nice dive outfit! I'm glad I chose them! The rental gear was pretty good! Digital and all! Didn't feel as crappy as some other rentals I've gotten in the past! They even rented me the same $125 flippers I bought at home ! The boat was a decent size, was stocked with tea and coffee and a ton of snacks including chunky chocolate chip cookies and fresh cut pineapple. The dive, can you really rate a dive at Molokini? It was awesome! I've been to other dive sites which I enjoyed in Maui but given the water conditions, it was front and back of Molokini today. Now for the last but not least: the crew! What a great team they got there! I've been diving for more than a decade and I'm not a pro diver. Just the occasional single 2-tank dive on a vacation a few times a year, I've encountered staff that just want to get thru the day, I've seen staff that is so pretentious that you don't want to be there, but these guys had some genuine smiles, were all super nice and fun to be with.
