Brought my car here to fix a engine light that was on. It stayed off for about 3-4 weeks. Brought it back again and he said he fixed it again, a month later its back on. Called and he told me I have to go to the dealership to get it fixed and that he would not look at it again. He charged me $500.00. Learn from my lesson. They can probably do oil changes ok but I got a bit ripped from this place, they do not back up their work. read more

not even fairly priced, I had an emergency and i need a new starter, and was charged $428 for it, i had the tools and could have installed it it 25 minutes. I was charged $75 for labor and the rest for the starter which is at best $80 bucks. Total bullshit but I was in a jam and was raped! Mechanic was great but when owner cant look you in the eye, stay away! read more

Guy was on the phone the whole time, very rude, told me to leave my keys and he would call me. When I asked the price of a transmission flush he said $250!!! But I asked why it was so expensive he shrugged and said it's transmission as if I should know what that means. Every single place that I have called performs this service for $130-$175. A little backstory: My 2004 RAV4 recently started acting up (very loud on start and acceleration) and as you might have guessed: exhaust. It's a used car that I financed and bought a warranty for, but the warranty didn't cover anything. Toyota did the inspection and estimate before I knew that, and gave me an estimate for a whopping $3,700 (specifically I needed catalytic converter, struts, 4 new tires, alignment). Anyway, on to the relevant part. I headed down to Pro Lube near the end of the day. I should say that there are many mechanics in that area in Amesbury, but I've had positive experiences with Pro Lube before (see below). I didn't call ahead so I didn't know if anybody had time to talk with me, but Eddie was available and listened to what i had to say. He put my car up on the lift to check it out, and called around for the necessary parts. Within minutes, he gave a much lower estimate and a promise that not only would it be done correctly but that I wouldn't get a lower price anywhere else around. He also told me to drop the car off the very next morning. Long story short, it got all fixed up in one day (dropped off around 8 am, got the call around 4:30 pm). Eddie told me I had also needed a sway bar link. The final price was exactly what he'd said it would be. He also told me that he had something to show me, and I had no idea what to expect, but it turns out he took the time to paint my rims (which were rusty and generally awful looking, and something that always bothered me about my otherwise good-looking car) and they look great now! It was completely unexpected, I hadn't mentioned anything about that, but now my car looks so much better and it was just such an awesome gesture that he didn't have to do. I also want to add that a year or so ago I was having trouble with my last car (kept dying as soon as I started it or so I thought) so I stopped by to see if I could have it towed there or something. Eddie (I'm not sure if he's the owner, manager or something else but I've seen him there each time) offered to come TO MY HOUSE and check it out (I do live nearby)... he popped the hood and did some I-don't-know-what and seemingly magically fixed it. He did explain but as you might be able to tell I don't know much about cars... In review: Car runs great, service is awesome, fixed super fast and I feel everything was fair even for someone like me who knows nothing about cars. read more

I went here for a simple oil change and after the mechanic there failed to install a new crush washer (as needed) I get home and my car has absolutely no oil in it. I bring it back the next day after having to buy more oil, I'm then yelled at, told I was wrong and when I went to take photos of the building, the business owner physically assaulted me and tried taking my phone from me. It's hard for me to put faith in a mechanic after a few rotten apples, but you guys -- I found one. First I searched the internet. Then I took a look at Yelp. Then I started out with an oil change, progressed to getting a flat fixed. And now I've finally, after months of procrastinating, gotten that vibration issue checked out. I went in suspecting one thing, but Eddie said nope, it's this. I love it when your mechanic corrects you, fixes the right thing and quickly.. and charges a totally reasonable price for that same day service. That makes me happy. And they're a couple of really nice guys. The shop is pristine with a very nice and comfortable waiting area around the side. This place rocks. I did your research for you. I don't usually write reviews, but for this I just had to. I hate getting my oil changed, it gets expensive and takes forever and I always procrastinate getting it done. Thanks to pro lube, this is no more. The staff is friendly, the prices are unbeatable, and my oil was done in less than 20 minutes. Wish I could give this place zero stars. Tried to get an oil change at 430 on Thursday, the bay door was open so I tried pulling in. Guy was sitting there reading a magazine and started yelling at me to park. Parked my car and asked if I could get an oil change, he said no because there's two other cars waiting and he didn't have time. Pass by on Friday after they close and one of the cars is inside up and raised, so his excuse was bull. Come Saturday at 410, website says they're open until 630, doors locked lights on and a sign on building says inspections until 2. Never coming here again. read more

Eddie has really impressed me with his knowledge and professionalism. I have a 10-year old Toyota that was in need of some major repairs to the drive shaft and rear differential, and not only did he diagnose and give me an estimate within an hour of dropping off the car, but he also ordered the parts and completed the repairs in under 24 hours! Plus his final bill came in under his original estimate and saved me a good amount of $$.
