This place deserves more than just 5 stars. Wasn't having the best of days and to seal it off my glasses broke unexpectedly. I've been using glass since I was a kid so it's imperative that i always have them on. And well tape could only do so much. I find this wonderful place take them in and in no time I get called up again by the wonderful man working miracles behind the counter and my glasses are fixed. They feel great, great price to fix and he was very nice and straight to the point he knows what he's doing. I was so devastated when my boyfriend sat on my Chanel glasses and then tried to repair them. Wearing my now Chanel monocles, I went to yelp to search for an optometrist or an eyeglass repair store and found Pro Mec! 45 mins and $40 later they were able to take the extra temples from my Chanel sunglasses to repair my eyeglasses! $20 to replace 2 nose pads on a set of eyeglasses?! Only one was broken, but they insisted on $20 to replace both. I just can't give more than 2 stars for this reason alone. I ended up paying $10 to repair a broken arm/replace a loose screw on another pair just so I would have at least one functional pair of glasses. The ladies were very nice and service was quick but next time, I'd rather go elsewhere. Last time I broke a nose pad, I got it replaced for free at a nearby optical store. I came here yesterday to add nose pads to my glasses. At first, I was worried it was going to look weird and not meet my standard but everything turned out alright! I came in around 12:15 PM to drop off my glasses. I had called first to see how long it would take and the lady on the phone just told me to bring it in and they can probably get it done in the same day. She told me it was going to be finish by 2:30 latest. Got there around that time and it was al finish! Now it totally fits my face because I literally have no nose bridge at all haha. We come here more than we should unfortunately. I try not to laugh but the amount of times my husband has broke his glasses is not normal. This last time he broke his Cartier glasses in 2 pieces. I have to update my review for Pro-Mec, even if it's late. I went to M&M Jewelers in Chula Vista to have my frames repaired. They were referred to me by one of the Costco optical department employees. I made the trip to Chula Vista, and one hour and $35 poorer, my frames were repaired. They lasted exactly a month, and broke again. I bit the bullet and went back to Pro-Mec. They were repaired yet again (the right way) for $25, and haven't broken since, and this was last fall. Pro-Mec is literally the only place that can repair eyeglass frames, and they've been in business for 40 years. I also reviewed M&M Jewelers, and also with an update. read more

They repaired the hinge on my prescription sunglasses Feb 2, 2022 for $58 and this same hinge broke this weekend. Today I returned and asked if they could fix them or refund the $58 as it was 1.5 mo since the repair was made. They said it was over 30 days so they refused to fix the hinge and simply put a pin in. I find this totally inadequate for both their initial defective repair and their refusal to repair and correct their initial defective hinge replacement. Zero for customer service! read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I went in on a Friday to have my Gucci prescription frames/glasses repaired. The woman who helped me let me know there would be two extremely small screws inserted near the GUCCI name, which I was skeptical about at first. After asking multiple times different ways just to be 100% sure we were on the same page, I left my glasses with them. I was ensured that 100% my glasses would be given back in a presentable state, that the screws would be so small virtually unnoticeable, and that the brand name would not be affected at all. When I went to pick up my glasses I was horrified at the result. Huge screws were placed on them, on the actual lettering of brand. They would have been embarrassing to wear, they looked extremely tacky with the screws. When I explained what the initial woman had told me, the owner kept repeating the same things such as " so and so would never say that shes been here 4 yrs". Her attitude was horrible, she ended up calling the woman whod initially helped me. This woman told the owner she remembered me, and that she said something a little different than what I said which ended up in them letting me know there was a "miscommunication". All she kept repeating was she could see how I could misinterpret whatever she told her on the phone. She said she could take 10$ off the service. I let her know I didn't want to pay for something I didn't agree to. That I'd be leaving to go buy completely new frames since those were completely ruined. I believe this is a couple who own the business, so the wife told the husband what was going on. He became almost hostile and screamed he wanted to be paid for the work he'd done, I let them know it wasn't what I had agreed to, that I literally would not be wearing them. The wife ended up giving him my glasses which he then very roughly handled, scratching the frame even more, damaging the inside/outside drastically more than what already had been done, as well as scratching my lenses!!! This was the most horrible service I have ever received. Not only am I now out the frames, I'm out the lenses as well. Over 540$$ down the drain!!! They even had the audacity to ask me how I have so much time to be there (due to being in the store for about 20 mins, waiting for the wife to get a hold of the initial woman who'd taken the glasses and waiting for the man to remove the screws). The outbursts these two had and the attitude was horrible, the woman even asked " really you're not going to wear them because the brand name has screws in it" looking at me like I was the smallest person in the world and she was so much better. I was a returning customer and had been there about 4 yrs ago and didn't have an issue, and had even referred my grandparents!! I can't believe the man maliciously made my glasses worse when he removed the "work" he had done. Find someone else online or in San Diego!!!! They did not acknowledge any mistake, no type of apology, belittled the entire time, accused the entire time, and overall very rude. I could not tell by the condescending tones, whether I was being treated in the manner they were treating me due to the age they thought I was or what they believed my ethnicity was. .. One Last Time... I had used this place for years without issue, but on my current frames it gets worse everytime I have to take them in. The only reason I'm going back is because I've dropped so much MF'n $$ here. I spurged just over a year ago for really badass designer frames. When I needed a repair this was the only place I'd conder, at the time. They've manged to make my awesome glasses into unwearable trash. Brought my glasses for repair. Picked them up with a scratch on lens. Its a very specific swivel like the drill made it. They would not acknowledge that it was scratched. The female working the front desk was knowledgeable of the needed repairs and she was very thorough explaining the pricing and 30 day warranty. It took about 20 minutes for the repair service and the shop was none stop with customer picking up and dropping off glasses. I brought in my girlfriend's glasses which had a broken arm that had broken completely off and the other arm was bent up pretty badly. I brought the glasses in during lunch and was promised that it would be ready about 2-1/2 hours later. I didn't pick them up until the next day but they were ready. I didn't realize that there was a shop that could repair glasses like that. I figured that once broken you either had to toss them or wear them with the one arm and have to worry about bending over and them falling off. No fun! They did a good job and it beats the cost of paying for new glasses. They quoted me $51 but it cost me $41 as they had to do some soldering. Support these little businesses! read more

I need a new prescription for eyeglasses (no exaggeration, I wear them while I sleep or else my dreams are too blurry). I had an appt with a "same day" optometrist, but the side arm on said eyeglasses decided to fall off a few days prior. Glued the side arm back (not a screw issue), went to the appt, only to find out that I would not be seeing an actual person, just a camera that would take a photo of my eyes and be sent to a presumably licensed professional who would write a prescription remotely. That place did not even have a tech who could re-glue the side arm again for me. I was treated like I was an idiot for assuming that I would see a human for the exam! "You will not find a human optometrist anywhere since COVID." (Hmm, so what computer would be reviewing the photos of my eyes???) Fortunately, my driver for the appt happened to have lived in North Park some 50 years ago and remembered Pro-Mec. Of course, parking is challenging on 30th Street, but in 20 minutes, my eyeglasses were whole again.... and I have an appt with a live optometrist next week. A dog got to my relatively new pair of glasses. They were rescued but one of the hinges was badly broken. I called several eye doctors that the brand name website said deals with their brand. The only positive I got was a new frame in stock for $250 with a 10% discount. Although to the eye doctors credit they did refer me to Pro-Mec. Luckily I am very near them and was get there at opening time. The woman that greeted me was very hospitable and quoted the repair at $33-38 dollars and explained that that hinge spring would be functional but limited. Long story short, about 30 minutes later I went back and the hinge was repaired better than expected and the cost was LESS than quoted. If I could give a rating of six stars I would do so.
