Scott started working his magic and basically tenderized my muscles back to life. MY STORY: I've been working as a nurse for almost 2 years on a critical care floor, and it has severely affected my body the last 3 months. I always come home achy but after my hot shower, stretch, and ice routine I am good. I get a basic massage every few months and I'm satisfied. But man, the last 3 months my neck and lower back has become stiffer, sore, and intolerable. I saw a chiropractor for a month and it was immediately relief, but I'll tense up again after an hour. I thought to myself... I am too young to see a pain specialist (I'm 24F) and I need to get this under control before I cripple myself. My friend recommended me to Scott and now I'm a believer in eastern and western techniques. MY EXPERIENCE: I didn't know what to expect because I kept reading that this wasn't a "relaxing" massage but a massage that will fix me. He started off with seeing how strong my upper and lower limbs were, and if one was weaker, he would do these acupuncture techniques and press on certain areas of my body, then repeat the test and surprisingly I did gain strength. It's crazy because when I work out, my trainer would always correct my form because I would favor my right side. I'm writing this review 3 weeks after the massage, and I've noticed a huge difference in my squats in terms of balance and stability. I asked him to focus on my concerned areas (neck, shoulder, and back) and he did an amazing job with loosening the "knots and tension." There were some painful moment but I was able to relax and at some point I almost fell asleep. It's difficult to compare his technique to other people because it's that different. It's better than any other deep tissue massage I've received and at the end of the session I felt less restricted and tight. During the next few weeks (with continued stretching too), I felt less muscular pain and weakness. I also felt stronger and more balanced in the gym and at work. I first found Scott Zelensky over 15 years ago. My chiropractor at the time was tremendous with adjustments and nutritional alternative and complimentary therapies. He suggested I get some work done on the soft tissue around the areas that he was adjusting. I agreed and asked him who he would recommend. He said sports massage would be the way to go and said that the best sports massage therapist he had ever encountered was right here in Las Vegas, Scott Zelensky. I made an appointment with Proactive Health Therapeutic Services and became a regular client after the first visit. I used to tell people that my massage therapist had to take a break after his appointment with me because I required a level of pressure that was usually accomplished only with industrial type equipment...or Scott's gifted hands and elbows. I believe he called it "Alien Pressure" at the time. I disappeared after a couple years. I ran away from people who knew that version of me, the version of me that cared about myself, and wanted natural remedies for what ailed me. Fast forward to 2021. The wife was having some soft tissue issue, and we had both begun caring about ourselves again. I said that I knew the best sports massage therapist in the universe and told her we would hunt him down. The hunt was short. Scott was still in the same building and same suite he was nearly 15 years before. To me that was insane. Scott Zelensky, the owner at Proactive Health, is truly the most amazing massage therapist I have ever seen. He has the most insane knowledge of the human body and how each part is connected. He understands and incorporates eastern and western styles and philosophies to make for a complete healing session. From Dee S.'s review, I have had two appointments with Scott. Fortunately for me, I did not come here because of a car accident. However, as some of you witnessed at the Kabuki grand opening event in Tivoli Village, I have had reoccurring lower back pain, usually excruciatingly painful. I was unable to stand up straight sometimes. The first three major instances of the pain this past year, I was relieved with Aquastretch Therapy at UNLV. After I returned from my last international trip, the pain was unbearable and Aquastretch did not help. I tried desperately to get an appointment with orthopedic specialist, but to no avail. It is nearly impossible to see a doctor for back pain - the wait was almost a month! I could not wait. I considered a sports injury style massage and found Dee's review. On the web site, there was a special for new clients: $150 for 2 90-minute massages (buy 1 get 1 free). The normal rate is $100 per hour, so this deal made it $50 an hour. This was worth a try for me. The first time I went, I learned a lot from Scott about my pain. My right leg was jammed up into my hip so my legs were uneven. He was able to get me back to alignment. He did moderate to deep and like Dee said, this is no relaxation massage - don't expect to feel like you are at a spa in the luxury hotels here. I handled the discomfort because I know he was working the painful areas to get me back to normal. He tested my leg strength and it was quite limited. Some acupressure helped me gain some strength back. He recommended daily stretching. After I left, I was in pain for 3 to 4 days still and I was worried. However, the pain faded and has been gone for around 5 weeks. I still can't touch my toes like I did before this pain started a year ago, but I can stretch, stand, walk, lay, sit, and do almost anything normal without the crazy pain I had previously experienced several times. Today I had my follow up appointment. My leg strength was much stronger, and Scott lightened his pressure at my request. I am confident that my pain will be kept at bay. Next, I need to try yoga to get more flexibility. FYI: There is around a $6 charge for credit card payments. The building is behind the US Bank off Lake Mead a few blocks west of the 95, so turn into the bank and go around the back on the right of the office building complex. Remember, come here to relieve pain from injuries - athletic or otherwise. I found Scott after my prior masseuse that I had been seeing for 5+ years wasn't helping me as much as he used to. I have been in several severe car accidents and had two neck surgeries (Anterior Discectomy with Fusion-3 levels) and I get a lot of large and painful knots in my neck, shoulders, and back with referred pain. I need someone who's very strong and isn't afraid to use deep pressure to break up the knots. (I'm a 5' 2" 105lb female and lots of masseuses are afraid to use the very deep pressure I require, especially after hearing about my surgical background). I found Scott on yelp and I'm so glad I did. I'be been dealing with chronic pain for over a decade and being active brings out those large knots and makes everyday life and activities difficult but deep tissue massages are one of the few things that actually helps and I always feel much better when I leave our appointments. He is about twice as much as my previous masseuse so I'm unable to go as often as I'd like but he's totally worth it and I'll continue to see only him as long as we're both living in Las Vegas and he's practicing. He's flexible with scheduling and will try to fit me in if I'm having severe pain and need an appointment. If you're searching for someone who specializes in deep tissue/trigger point massages, give him a try. You won't regret it. I've had shoulder and neck pain for over 20 years. I went to see Scott after all of the traditional methods didn't seem to stick (meds, injections, acupuncture, chiropractic). I have pain at least 7 days out of the month so I wasn't looking for a relaxing massage, I was seeking pain relief - Scott's massage is definitely geared more towards working out the muscle and fascia, and assisted stretching rather than relaxation (but I'm sure he'll do that too). It was to the point of tears at times but I know that's what was necessary to get me the mobility I needed. I've only worked with the bigger Physical Therapy places like Rapid, and they are good, but this is much different. Having a holistic, naturopathic option is important to me and 95% of doctors just refuse to look beyond what western science is teaching them. Also I have pretty high standards for the MDs and other professionals I work with, most important is the ability to listen, emphasize, and suffer through my 40-questions style of Q&A. I want to know *everything* and that can really irk some physicians. Scott has exceeded all expectations for knowledge in his field, holistic application of wellbeing, and professionalism. Late on this, but I had to drop in and share my feedback. Bottom line, Scott is a CHAMP at what he does. He is the only practitioner who has helped me heal from a coccyx injury I sustained while pregnant almost a year ago. It was at the point where I couldn't sit for any period of time (I work a desk job) and I couldn't do any workout besides walking slowly on the treadmill. I'm a former athlete that used to run 3+ miles daily and do a lot of weight-lifting (max deadlift pull was 225). But when my injury happened, I became depressed and overweight. Now, I'm able to work out again, and sit for longer periods of time. He gave me tips to be able to maintain in between appointments and because of his work, I can work to compete in a fit comp next year. I've already lost weight, and gained strength in areas where I literally had none. I can walk a straight line without having to compensate for the constant pain...I cannot thank this man enough. I was recommended to Scott by another massage therapist who could not manage the chronic pain I dealt with daily. Scott quickly identified my the route cause of my pain and further treated me with his multiple skills set. He applied sports massage, injury massage, deep tissue massage and trigger point therapy. I've got to be honest, when I met Scott my body was in bad shape. I was dealing with daily migraines and chronic low back pain from years of working as an EMT. I was put into positions & lifted patients that were beyond my strength and because of this, my body paid a price. Scott treated me twice monthly for over 10 years. Because of Scott, I was able to manage my pain without medications & could live as normal life as possible with my injuries. I always ask for massage gift certificates over anything else exclusive of money. That means I've had quite a few massages. This place, however, I found via a Fox5 marketing deal. I was pretty much blown away by this sports massage by Scott, a one man show. When someone rear ended me, a few months ago, the pain & spasm-ing was incredibly painful. I would be stuck bent forward & couldn't move to an upright position because I was locked. I could barely turn my head ten degrees to the right. My shoulder area & neck musculature was harder than humanly possible. Numbness & tingling plagued me. Medicine has lots of side effects for me AND did not help more than 5-10%. But after I was worked on by Scott, I felt almost human instead of gloom & depression. When will I improve? Obviously, it all depends. I feel like a fixture in his office. Although fortunately, he doesn't share an office with his wife, a counsellor, anymore. So there's more opportunity now to get his signature DEEP neuromuscular body work. It should be recategorized as...miraculous! Although I am far from well, as in not cleared to go to the gym & many more restrictions, I have a better outlook since Scott has been helpomg me with his unique insight as to muscle & nerve function & dysfunction. I've been to many massage therapists over the years and Scott Z at Proactive Health Therapeutic Services is by far the best sports massage therapist in Las Vegas. Background: I was diagnosed with a Type 2 SLAP tear in my left shoulder last year after an injury at the gym. After 4 months of basically going nowhere with physical therapy (at a clinic covered by my insurance), I resigned myself to having surgery to repair it. While I was awaiting a consultation for surgery, the ongoing muscle spasms and chronic pain led me to search for massage therapists that deal with sports injuries. And that is how I found Scott. Turned out to be a very lucky break for me. He encouraged me to let him work on it for a while before I decided to have surgery. I did, even though I was skeptical that it would work - I was convinced that I would need surgery. The initial thought was that perhaps the muscles around my shoulder would be less seized-up before I had the surgery. My progress was slow and steady - with the usual peaks and valleys - but I stayed with it. After several months my mobility had greatly improved and the spasms had stopped. At that point I started to work with another physical therapist I met through Scott (Ron). He helped strengthen the muscles around my shoulder and got me back in the gym. I still continue to work with Scott for preventative maintenance and overall health, but my strength is back to where it was pre-injury. If I do have any mobility limitations I don't notice them, and surgery is now off the table. Thanks for giving me my health back! Soft tissue miracle worker! Brilliant touch for diagnosing and restoring functional movement patterns in athletes. I went to Scott three days before a 100-mile ultramarathon for medial tibial stress and peroneal muscle strain that had developed in the final week before my race. Treating a repetitive stress injury so close to a race requires an extremely precise touch: sufficiently deep to clean the tissue, but light enough to permit the tissue to adequately heal in time for the start line. Scott absolutely nailed it. The tissue was sore for two days and ready-to-race on race morning. I ran a hard race with no lingering issues from the RSI (finishing top 10 in a competitive, international field). Scott's experience is clearly evident in his technique and his general knowledge. During my running career, I have been treated by various sports doctors in LA, DC, Ohio, and Las Vegas (in LA, I routinely visited Meb Keflezighi's A.R.T. provider).
