I have always been a fan of this market because there are so many food options to choose from. It seems to have gotten busier each time I come hahaa It's always lively and fun. There's definitely a lot of food options here. Some are a hit while others are a miss. This time we got pizza and Filipino food. The pizza was really good but the Filipino food wasn't, especially for the price. I definitely expected more. I also love that they have my favorite kombucha place as well as a lot of baked goods. Parking is a pain as you probably have to fine parking 1-2 blocks out and walking there but it's not too bad. read more

Nice neighborhood farmer's market with a variety of vendors. They block off the streets and the farmer's market takes up the space of about 2-3 blocks. Parking is on the street and is pretty easy to find though it can get busy. read more

The selection of produce, baked goods, and various ethnic cuisines is exceptional. The vendors for the most part are very engaging and willing to explain their goods. It can get crowded and there are often people who are inconsiderate of others. Prices are high, but you mostly get what you pay for. read more

Proctor's farmers market is one of my favorite local farmers markets in the area! If you are actually wanting to plan before you go you have this option with this market. They have a website/email that you can sign up for and they will let you know who will be at the market for that Saturday. Some vendors will actually allow to to order ahead of time if you're getting something like meat for example. Be prepared to street park somewhere nearby and walk to the market. So many great things to discover once you're here: fresh cut flowers, fresh pasta/sauces, organic produce, grass-fed meats, wood-fired pizza, delicious raw smoothies, mushrooms, baked goods + so much more that I have yet to try! This is definitely worth checking out! I love that it's possible to come here and get all ingredients for a homemade dinner to whip up at home! read more

Small farmers' market that might be worth stopping by if you're already in the area. Super easy, free parking if you're willing to walk a few blocks. Overall the market only takes up ~a block of space with a handful of your "standard famers' market vendors." You know...your fair-type food, fresh fruit/veggie, a flower stand, the store with the funny signs, etc. I was told Adam's Mushrooms & Lowrider were on the vendors list, but neither of them were present when I went - sad panda! If it's already in walking distance for you, by all means. Further than that? Not super worth it unless you know of a specific vendor you're seeking out. read more

We are very happy that the farmers markets have been able to open during this difficult time, so we decided to take advantage of it and head on down. Unfortunately, it was pouring down rain, but we decided to go anyway. Positives: It is in a good location, there is a decent amount of parking, there are other businesses around to check out. Not so positives: There aren't enough vendors, a lot of the products are overpriced (even for being a farmers market), and the quality of most of the items isn't exceptional. I also think it should run a little later than 2:00 p.m. It's very busy down there at that time and they would get more business later. Hopefully as we make our way into the summer, it gets better. I'm so thrilled to have an exciting farmer's market close to home. The flowers are beautiful, the people are friendly, and there are so many good vendors. Fresh fruits and vegetables were plentiful, and businesses selling tasty scones, smoothies, tamales, or empanadas. They are pet friendly as long as your pup is on a leash. Vendors will vary of course, so keep that in mind. Parking is of course going to be around the market itself- more like street parking. Pretty nice place to be and help support local and small businesses. read more

Many booths, very walkable. My favorites are the local honey place Dancing Bee Apriary and the Balloon Roof Bread company. It's a fun place, lots of locals, and sometimes music! Vendors are so friendly, it's great to buy from the grower/producer. read more

Each weekend in our household is kicked off with a stomach-satisfying stroll through the Proctor Farmer's Market. Booth after booth is stocked and overseen by people who care - who have skin in the game. Because of that, the produce is fresher, the flowers are brighter, the fruit is plumper. I've lived in the area for years, but only just recently decided to walk on over to the farmer's market, and was not disappointed! What a fun neighborhood venue, every Saturday. So many freshly made foods to take and walk with, and a myriad of produce, artisan breads, cheeses, honeys! If you arrive early enough, you can get some fresh breakfast sandwiches or an empanada. I hear they have farm fresh free-range eggs and local raw milk, but didn't keep an eye out for it. Next time, I'll arrive with purpose instead of just a pass-through. A few reviews said "dogs and strollers"...and yep, that's true. Doesn't bother me though...that's life, that's community, that's reality. read more

I enjoyed my experience at the Proctor Farmer's Market. I also found the prices to be more reasonable when compared to others I've visited in the past. While in the area please visit all the local stores and make it a day. I would recommend Top Pot Doughnuts, Bliss Ice Cream, The Waffle Stop, and Olympia Coffee if you are hungry after or before roaming the market. Also, it appears that dogs are encouraged to join families while shopping at the market which brought a different sense of enjoyment!! read more

Came across this farmers market by accident the other weekend and absolutely fell in love with it! While it is smaller than some of the other local farmers market, they still provide an awesome selection of vendors ranging from flowers, produce, meats, oysters, wine & more! I was able to find some new wines to bring home as well as some handmade jams from local farmers. The market is also located in a great area, quick access to lots of cute stores and restaurants! "Get here early" is the advice from the locals. Saturday at 10am, the booths are ready for you to purchase their goods of greens, fruits and foods. However, if you do not arrive before noon, you may be sadly turned away because they have sold out of products! 2pm is closing time. Overall a nice spread for a market. Lots of veggies! Heads up for the guy with the pizza oven: my mom made the mistake of saying excitedly "hey! Barbecue!" when she saw you. What a really great farmers market. For it to be a "smaller" one there is easily 4 blocks plus of items. I think the best thing about this market is it's not just the same stuff over and over. I really don't think there is a repeat of anything! Olive oil, meats, seafood, veggies, flowers, bread, honey, soaps, pastries, ice cream, hot sauce. The list goes on! My only complaint is they have a few places to order food but no where for you to eat this food! Parking can also be an issue. read more

There are farmers markets that pepper all through the Seattle metro area. Some are more "basic" than others while others have vendors that just make the overall market go the extra mile. I know Tacoma has several farmers markets and I have been to two thus far. The Proctor Farmers Market seems to be more for the artisian food croud. The products are higher than other markets but the quality seems to be better as well! Here are soe of my favorite vendors at this particular market: There is a pasta vendor here. While the selection is not huge each pasta variety is unique and it can easily detected that each nest of pasta sold is made with TLC. Some really interesting choices to pick from are pasta varities like the Cabernet Sauvignon pasta. This pasta can also be bought at Tacoma Boys. There is a kombucha(fermented green tea) vendor here. To date this vendor has the best kombucha that I have had since I started dinking it. The ginger flavor definitely gives you a swagger to your step and the chokecherry flavor is sweet, mellow and delicious! This kombucha can be bought by the growler at Tacoma Boys and the Tacoma Food Co-op And finally my favorite vendor, the tamale vendor! This vendor has a variety of different meat tamales like pork and beef but he also has vegetarian and vegan tamales as well. When we were there the meat tamales were still being steamed so we got a spinach tamale and a veggie tamale. Both had their distictive flavor and were fantastic!! I don't know if this vendor sells his tamales in stores too so I suppose going to the market every Saturday when it is in season is the way to go about it. The market is not overwhelming or too large and your favorite vendors are easily to find week after week. read more

My partner and I were visiting Tacoma last weekend, and loved this market - especially THE BROWN PAPER BAKING COMPANY. Their Whole Grain Soudough loaf and brownie were amazing. We've been coming to the Proctor Farmer's market for just about as long as it's been here, and have enjoyed watching it grow bigger slowly over time. There are lots of vendors every week (Saturdays, 10:00 until 2:00) but I strongly urge anyone to try to arrive early, as the sellers often start packing up pretty far ahead of the closing. Also, beware they have no dog restrictions - at all! Today we watched a big aggressive dog get right in the face of a 3-year-old girl. Thankfully just for a very close look and sniff and not a bite - but it happened so fast the parents never saw it coming because the dog was on a pretty long leash. Often dogs will tangle and growl on the sidewalk - I just wish they'd do like so many other farmer's markets and just say "no dogs". There's a fair number of food vendors - Indian, Mexican, and a few others - but it's not a huge food event so plan accordingly. Also, there are only about 3 smallish tables to sit and eat, with a number of plastic chairs by themselves. But if you really need to have a table you better plan on lunch at 11:00 or before to have any chance of getting a table and chair. I hope that over time, they'll think about adding more seating in general, not just food tables. But overall, it's a very nice little North End institution and we'll keep coming as long as it's here I'm sure Dave read more

Today could not have been any more perfect for the first day of the market. I love this time of year when the market opens because you know warmer, sunny days are on their way! (Hopefully) I have to say, I was more impressed this year than previous years with what was available. Today they had many stands with flowers, natural meats, fresh seafoods, crepes, honey, cheese and plants. Now, it is nowhere near the size as Downtown or Puyallup farmers market but enough to purchase what you need. If you are in the area stop by and check it out. It runs on Saturdays from 9-2. P.S. This is a famers market worth driving too. Don't get there until around 10 when all the vendors have completed setting up. They have everything you can hope for in a market like this one. Fresh produce, Organic products, Grass fed sheep and cow for some great meat and cheeses, 'live' music, beautiful inexpensive floral arrangements, crafts, art and food of various kinds like bread, pastries, smoothies etc. Come down on a Saturday and check it out. Lot's of streets are blocked off. Parking can become a pain later in the day so I suggest coming on the earlier side. I must say far as the farmers markets I've been too around the area, this on is the best. It's next to Metropolitan Market, so if you need some other really good food that you can't find at the farmers market, hop into the store. I'll do this place again for sure. read more

Decent Farmer's Market for Tacoma. Too many dogs and strollers make it a challenge to navigate. Many of the vendors are slooooow in service but the selection is nice. The person who said "get there early" is right on! Parking is sketchy and once it's hoppin' the dog/stroller challenge is greatly amplified. read more
