Rafael is a godsend. My husband was literally stuck in the garage with a 8 inch gap on a Saturday. After calling dozens of companies, no one could make an emergency service before Monday. Luckily, I found Rafael on Yelp and he responded immediately and gave me an ETA arriving right on time. Looking at this ridiculous situation, he was able to figure out how to open the door from the outside guiding my husband to the correct wiring. After freeing my husband, he was able to fix the broken cable and put the garage door back on its track all at a reasonable price especially for an emergency weekend call. We are incredibly grateful that I would not have to put toilet paper under the door waiting until Monday for another garage door repair person to finally return my call. Call him. These guys are liars and cheats. Stay away! They don't do good work and they don't stand behind their work. They will not honor any warranties. They just take your money and leave. In August 2022 they came over to replace a garage door unit. Not even a year after installing the unit and the rail has fallen off. See the attached photos. I had Al's garage door repair the springs on a garage door for me. I spoke with the service repair guy and I thought he said $200 for both springs. He then advised it was an additional $200 for the labor. This seemed expensive to me but since he was there at my renters property I told him to do the work. Once he was done he called me back and advised that it was $250 for each spring plus the labor. $700 for what took the guy a few minutes to do. I told him it seems pretty expensive for springs for a standard residential garage door springs. He told me they were heavy duty. I still find the price extremely high. I should have got the bid in writing before I ok'd him to do the work and should have shopped around for alternate prices. Maybe I am wrong on this price but from looking online at prices for springs I don't think I am. I believe this company took advantage of me and due to that fact I would not recommend them. The company reached out and refunded me money due to the miscommunication over the price of the springs. I will say that this company responded, immediately when I reached out and was at the house for repairs in less then two hours. If it was not for the issue with misunderstanding what their prices were I would have been completely satisfied with the experience. read more

New garage system with custom door. So this is how it started. It was a Friday night around 5 pm and my current door just failed. It made a bunch of noises and the rollers fell off. Rafael and Ben came out within an hour and spent at least 3 hours trying to fix the system. My garage is complicated as it's on an inclined street. The guys worked their butts off to fix the situation. They never tried to upsell me. After 3 hours and hundreds of attempts, they told me I would have to replace the system because it was too far damaged. I completely trusted them because I watched them trying to fix the old system. I agreed to order the new door and system. A couple days later I had an estimate done by another company but they needed 13 weeks for the door to come in. This was unacceptable as I need a working garage. Less than a week later I have a brand new system installed and working great. These guys are fair and work really hard. They Endangered my Family Essentially, they lied, overcharged me and performed shoddy work that endangered my family I contracted Profession-AL's Garage Doors to do work on April 16th 2022. While opening/closing my garage door was making too much noise and I was informed that replacing the roller and hinges would fix the issue. I agreed to replace 9 hinges, 9 rollers and retention both the drums. This costing me 650 dollars. This seemed a bit high but I needed it done. Before the technician left, I informed him it was still a bit loud. He told me the main rod, that runs across the entire system was bent, and that was causing the loud noise. He assured me that it wasn't a problem. Not knowing much about garage door systems, I took him at his word. Two weeks later, the garage door noise was getting much worse. I ended up inspecting the corner brackets on the evening of 05/02 and noticed that one of them was severely bent. This was not damaged when the technician left. Please look at the attached picture. Notice how it was only a few inches from falling off the steel rod. If it had fallen off, it would have caused my garage door to come crashing down and could have killed a family member. My garage door is insulated so it is heavier than a standard door. 1st time I gave the company a chance to make it right. I called them the following morning at 9 am and informed them about my situation. I let them know the work was only done two weeks ago. He told me he would speak to the technician and give me a call right back. I waited until around 1pm and called back. He apologized and said he would give me a call back by EOD. He never did. 2nd time I gave the company a chance to make it right. I called their main line 323-794-8116 and explained what happened the following day. The gentleman said would speak to his supervisor and give me a call back which he didn't. 3rd time I gave the company a chance to make it right. I reached out via Yelp. They got back to me two days later when I kept on following up with them. By this time, I was pretty frustrated and had already had another company come and fix my garage door. I couldn't wait for them to show up and fix their mistake anymore. I asked for a refund for the work and they offered me a 100 dollar refund because the company had already invested time and materials in the job. I refused. I was pretty livid at this time because the new company was able to fix the loud sounds and showed me all the incorrect work Profession-AL's Garage Doors had done. I stood next to him the entire time so he wouldn't have been able to fake anything. The reasons below are why I don't believe I shouldn't have to pay for any work they did. 1. The receipt they provided showed they replaced 9 hinges, but the new guy said he could only spot 7 hinges that were replaced. They overcharged me for 2 hinges. 2. There are 6 hinges, 3 on either side of the garage door, that are supposed to be attached in a specific numbered order. Hinge 1, Hing 2 and Hing 3 on either side. They literally have a number stamped on them. Each numbered hinge has a slightly different offset so rolling up and down is smooth. I was shown was my left side all had hinge number 2 (Two of them are wrong). The right side had hinges 2, 2 and 3 (One of them is wrong). Noticed how I previously said my left bracket was bent...the left side all being numbered 2 is the reason. Since my garage door is heavy and the hinges on the left were incorrect, it bent the bracket and nearly came off. 3. The hinges the technician installed weren't even screwed in correctly. To mount the hinge safely, it requires 4 screws to be attached to the door. Two on top and two on the bottom. Please see the pictures where the bottom was missing a screw. What is more horrible is, I was show how you could literally turn the screws with your fingers. This means that it wasn't attached properly and overtime it would have come off and cause the door to come crashing down. I spoke to Rafael and provided a copy of the receipt and he denied that they did the work. I even sent a screen shot of the Zelle payment with the associated 323-794-8116 that I had sent them. He denied that was their number. He is a TOTAL liar. Please reference the pictures I've included. I Google searched them, pulled up their website and looked at their pictures of the shirt their workers are wearing. It all has 323-794-8116 on it. Companies can charge whatever they want and I was charged a premium price (2 to 3 times the going rate) Yes it is that much over. What frustrates me the most is I expect the work to be done correctly and not half asses to the point where my family could have been hurt because they saw profit more than the safety of two young boys under 5. If you have family, this isn't the company you want to be doing work on your home. I don't expect my money to be returned by individuals who clearly don't care about the safety of others they provide services to. read more

I have an older garage in an older building. I didn't think a opener would be possible. Rafael contacted me within an hour of requesting a quote, and offered very reasonable pricing and next day service. He quoted me between 8 - 10 am and called me when he was 30 minutes out. The communication was amazing! Upon getting to my place Ben and Rafael checked out the garage and to my great appreciation Ben was eager and ready to get it to work no matter what! After about an hour and half, I now have a functional garage door opener and came away with an incredible experience. Sad to say.. this company claims to not subcontract but I received a technician who didn't even know who Rafael is. I have been calling the number to confirm this person and find out but no answer. My garage door has come off track now three times, after Rafael's other technician charged us to replace everything the first time (springs, cables, the housing for the cables, the wheels for the track.. it was very expensive and to have this happen at least one a year). I have called this company to have it fixed because I believe to be loyal to companies who do right by their mistakes and stand by their work. This last occurrence I phoned the company and haven't been able to get any answer from anyone. I text and they finally text back saying they would be out here by 11-1. They came on time but it was a different company who says they get subcontracted.. I attempted to call Rafael and no answer. The technician came and declined the job. In fact the opener they installed we found out a few days later was opening on its own ...thy came out and determined it was a faulty piece of equipment and they replaced it with a new one ..no extra charge it works perfectly now . When I check for reviews on a company, I get very suspicious if all of them are five star. I think that the person posting the review must have been given something for the review which I see as a dishonest & false Yelp. Profession-AL's Garage Doors had a couple of non-5 Stars and that actually caused me to value and read the real 5 star reviews that were posted. You can't please everybody; and that's a true fact, but you can do an excellent job and get a true review. I'm glad I chose Refael to install a new chain driven LiftMaster door opener to replace the broken Sears opener we had for years. Rafael was extremely conscientious to do an excellent job for us! He even came out to install it on a Sunday and within two hours he was on site quickly to do the install. My garage was not working with the remote and it wasn't the remote battery because I checked. I was only able to open it manually but was concerned because I did not have the key to lock it. Saved my butt and some when I needed a garage door repair in a hurry after it was crashed into.

On December 29, 2021 they came to our rescue. We were grateful although it required a lot of part changes and was expensive (over $1300) we were relieved they were able to fix the track.. we were told to change the wheels on the track to longer ones so they won't come out of the track again, Which was over $200 . We did so and the technician, Benjamin, said they won't come out now since they are the longer ones.. when he completed the work he told me we have a warranty for a year.. any problems just call him and he will take care of it for free and anytime of day.. 91 days later the same roller area comes off the track.. I call Benjamin thinking he would Honor his word.. not only did I have to stay outside for three hours till he arrived, when he finally arrives he then tells me it's gonna be $100 for him to fix it.. I told him what he said at the end of our initial visit. He claims it's been four months so my 90 day guarantee is over.. I explain he told me I had a year. After some arguing between us, I had to agree to the fee due to needing the garage fixed. He then proceeded to go in and fix a cable he supposedly fixed the last time.. this repair better be for longer than another 91 days . Our initial visit, We chose them because of their quick response but I would do more homework if you have the time. Update/. Correction. On days since broken. Calendar days we were in the 90 day window.. February has only 28 days. Technically today would be day 90 Update #2: owner of company, Rafael, contacted me and immediately made amends for the problem. He was very attentive and listened to the needs and issues that I had. Do not call these guys. Absolute joke!!! They serviced my garage about a month ago. Tried telling me I needed a whole new garage door to begin with instead of putting it back on the track and adding a strut. Then tried to charge me 600 dollars. Finally agreed to 350 but how you can go from 600 to 350 is beyond me. They then finished in exactly 5 minutes and were out the door. They didn't check the door out or anything. So instead of altering the structure of it they left it ready to fall right back off the track. Which it has now done. I needed to replace a garage door spring. I checked on yelp and put out several requests for a quote. The first appointment was with Al's Garage Door. The technician came out and met with my wife while I was at work. He quoted $260 to $280 per spring for a total of $520-$560. He said the price difference was for cheaper Chinese springs or better American made springs. My wife called me and put me on speaker for the quote. I told her it was too high and to wait for another quote. The tech said he made a phone call to his boss and then told my wife he would do it for $380. My wife called me back and told me the new price and I told her to have him do the work. He replaced the springs and advised my wife we needed new drums and cables for an additional $150. My wife called me and I told her no because I saw they looked fine. He then told my wife he was going to lubricate the springs for free but they normally charge $150. The tech then tested the door and it was working well. My wife then saw him playing with the Genie opener and then all of a sudden the garage door stopped working. The tech then told my wife that the Genie opener was cheap and poor quality. He went on and on about how cheap they were. Before he began to tell her how much it would cost to replace it, my wife cut him off and told him that she saw him playing with the Genie opener and it stopped working. She told him she wouldn't pay him unless he fixed the problem. She became upset and began to yell at her complaining that he doesn't work on Genies because they are cheap and doesn't know what's wrong with it. A few minutes later after he played with it again, it suddenly started working again! I arrived home just in time for the bill and saw the bill. He said it was $380 plus $200 for labor. My wife told him that wasn't what they agreed to and he said the price didn't include labor and that he had told her from the start. He continued to argue and called her a liar. I stepped in and told him the problem was that he never brought up the additional labor cost until after he completed the work and gave us the bill. He began to say my wife was a problem and he had told her the full price. After some arguing, he said he would take away the labor cost but he would not give us a warranty and to never call him again. I went to go look at the work and as we were walking, my wife loudly said to me "let me show you what he tried to do!" The tech heard and followed us over to the garage. My wife pointed to what the tech had touched (the garage door disconnect lever) and I instantly knew he tried to trick my wife into another additional service fee! Pulling the lever would disconnect the garage door from the opener which would cause the door to not open or close. Connecting the lever would reconnect the door to the opener and bam! The garage door was operational again! I couldn't believe it! The tech came over after hearing our conversation and apologized that we were not happy and tried to smooth it over. He tried to take advantage of my wife from the start, not realizing I would be home before he was done! He treated my wife horribly, lied to us, and then called her a liar, yet somehow thought he could smooth it over at the end???It was the worst experience we have ever had with any company. I looked at the receipt to call the owner to complain and saw that the receipt had a different company name. The receipt said "Garage Door and Gate Repair" and not "Al's Garage Door." I called their phone number to complain and inquire about the differences in the receipt and online company name and a female answered and advised me it was the same company. The woman I talked to over the phone had the same very thick accent as the tech that was at our home. I complained to her and all she said was "sorry" and nothing more. I then realized complaining to them would be worthless because they must all be family and fully aware of their unethical business practices. My wife obviously asked me how I ended up picking them for a quote and so I began to look at their Yelp reviews and saw two almost identical complaints describing what we had experienced. Please be aware of their unethical business practices and do not trust them in your home, specially if you are a woman. I would never trust them to come to my home ever again! Yelp!
