Don't know if the place is closed for good or the guy is sick or??? I drove by Jan 22, 24, 26, 29 & 31st and again today Feb 2nd. They have never been open. I go by between 10:30 AM and 1:00 PM. Contrary to multiple Yelps with random dates, back as far as 5 years ago, the business is still "open and operating," sadly and unbelievably. He (Alan) will not warranty, repair, send out, or tolerate in any way, faulty/malfunctioning firearms. He does not and will not stand by what he sells. "Contact the manufacturer" is his position. While I hate to have to ding a local guy, I can't recommend this one over other places within 30-50 miles of Lodi, at least not for ammo purchases. No problem with the guy in the store, he seemed really nice. His prices were just top high. I do appreciate that I was addressed as soon as I walked in. Athough he was already with a customer he said, "If you have any questions just jump in". I really appreciate this. Other shops I've been in sometimes they'll keep their focus 100% on the person they're already talking to, and you'll wonder if they even noticed you walked in. This is especially helpful if all you want is to ask if they have a certain ammo in stock. At the time, I was fairly new to guns and had just purchased my first at another local store. However, I was unable to purchase ammo at that store. I came here to ask if he had any .22 LR ammo. He had a few boxes of CCI Mini Mags 100 count... for $30 a box. Talk about dealer markup. Down the street over at Nick's Gun Shop they had some Federal and Remington rimfire cartridges I got 200 for $15. I know that most ammo, but especially .22 LR is pretty scarce right now with all the scary rhetoric from Obama and Feinstein, but that's ridiculous. Shootin Shack Guns in Elk Grove has bricks of Winchester Wildcat .22LR 500 count for $50. The Gun Room in Elk Grove sells their CCI Mini Mag .22 LR 375 count for $40 (same exact casing as the one going here for $30/100 count. I mean, you gotta be competitive, or if you are gonna do markup, be realistic. I'll probably give this place a chance when I shop around for my next firearm purchase, but I know where not to go for ammo. read more

I purchased a rifle from these guys at a gun show. That transaction went well. Fast forward about a year later. I was moving to a different state and I wanted to transfer 1 rifle and 1 hand gun. I called a few weeks in advance based off the recommendation from a gun shop in my new state (to make sure they had the paperwork and licenses straight) I told them what I intended to do and I was told that they could and would do the transfers. As it got closer to our move date, we drove down there and waited for them to open (about an hour late), we sat and waited anyway. I finally saw them open up so I grab my guns and head on in. The fellow that was there was in a foul mood and I was told that he was not doing any transfers because they take too long and it's too much work. I barely got through the front door and I was sent away. I was told to go to big 5 instead. I had called to confirm the transfers just a day or so prior, then all of a sudden when I showed up, it couldn't be done. We ended up driving back North up to Elk Grove and found a gun shop there that did the transfers in less than an hour it was quick and easy. I'm not sure what happened with professional firearms that day, but they were very far from professional. Overall decent to buy from but I wouldn't suggest doing anything else with them. Horrible experience. Tried to do a sales transfer this FFL and another FFL. Both parties were completely incompetent. Spent over a month babysitting these two, over a pissing contest. This shop never answered their phone or returned calls. Ever. Now i am left holding the bag on a gun, i have paid for and cannot obtain. Highly recommend using this place. Prices may vary but Alan is a good businessman, fair, and will reasonably work with you. The guys are very knowledgeable about current laws as well as firearm manufacturers. My only advice to the consumer is be patient. Like any local business some items may be more expensive than larger outlets because they can't stack up on bulk pricing. My purchase through this business was great. The guy was very friendly and helpful, as one review mentioned he didn't make me feel inadequate for not knowing the entire Wiki library of gun facts like other gun shop workers have done. Bought a basic complete upper for a .223, price was much lower than the shop down the street and other places in the delta area. I had made my first firearm (Springer XD-9) purchase here in 9/2011, and the experience was great. The staff was very knowledgeable about firearms. Their prices are good compared to other gun stores but that if you can justify wait for a long period of time. A few months later, I decided to make another purchase here for a long rifle. I had special ordered a FDE SCAR 17s and it took me a very very very long time to get a status update on the firearm. I kept getting the run around that it "may come in this week" and that I would be kept up to date. I finally just cancelled the order but at least I wasn't charged a stocking fee and the DROS fee so thats a plus. -2 stars for the long wait time and run around. read more
