The inspector missed MOLD, which was very obvious to someone moving from the Westside. When I pointed it out he acted as if I had lost my mind and that it was nothing. We closed the deal, but after the first major rainfall we realized that we had a leak in the roof right above where the ceiling was moldy. With the next home purchase I decided to go with Don Hester, NCW Home Inspections LLC. He is absolutely AMAZING! Incredibly detail oriented, and will take the time to inspect everything that is accessible. He does not cut corners. On a personal level he is fun to talk to and is willing to have you tag along with him through out the inspection. His reports are long (around 100 pages), detailed and accompanied with pictures. He might be a bit more expensive than most ($50-$100 more, depending on the size of the property), but there is a good reason for that. My feeling is that on such a large purchase as a home it's worth to pay a little more for an exceptional inspector that will save you much more than you paid for him in the long run. He works for YOU and not for the agents. His inspections are there to educate you about your soon to be purchase and not to steer you in any direction. Great person and company. I 100% recommend him. I called and left a VM to have our fireplace serviced. I immediately received a text message…read morestating I would receive a call back. I responded to the text stating in writing that I was calling to have our fireplace serviced. 24 hours later, I received a return call. Again, I explained I was looking to have our fireplace serviced and explained in further detail that it was installed 5 years ago and had not been cleaned since installation. I stated additionally, we were noticing that there was an odor that did not seem familiar to us. Brandon asked a few questions about the odor and I suggested it may not be an issue but we would like it serviced and possibly the odor may have been because it just needed to be cleaned. We discussed pricing, I agreed to the service call cost and the additional trip charge from Wenatchee to Chelan to have our fireplace serviced. I let him know that it was a corner, glass unit and that he would need suction cups to remove the two glass panels that it had. Brandon assured me that he was a fireplace specialist. Fast forward to the day of the service call. I received a text stating he was early and I made arrangements for access into the home. I didn't hear back from him so I reached out asking if there were any questions and he said no. I asked further about the servicing and he informed me that there was no service notes to be had on his end and that this trip was simply a leak detection! I then forwarded Brandon my original request I made "in writing" to have the fireplace serviced and reminded him of our conversation. He responded that he was not conducting one but could discuss the different options for an additional service call further if I wanted! Needless to say, I am being invoiced $317.00 for someone to drive from Wenatchee to Chelan to bring a gas meter detector that I could have purchased myself at Home depot for a hundred dollars! I find it hard to believe that leak detection would take an hour and a half and if it did, why wasn't the unit serviced during that period? After this experience, I checked the BBB and the business has an F rating for Failure to have a required competency license.
