The inspector missed MOLD, which was very obvious to someone moving from the Westside. When I pointed it out he acted as if I had lost my mind and that it was nothing. We closed the deal, but after the first major rainfall we realized that we had a leak in the roof right above where the ceiling was moldy. With the next home purchase I decided to go with Don Hester, NCW Home Inspections LLC. He is absolutely AMAZING! Incredibly detail oriented, and will take the time to inspect everything that is accessible. He does not cut corners. On a personal level he is fun to talk to and is willing to have you tag along with him through out the inspection. His reports are long (around 100 pages), detailed and accompanied with pictures. He might be a bit more expensive than most ($50-$100 more, depending on the size of the property), but there is a good reason for that. My feeling is that on such a large purchase as a home it's worth to pay a little more for an exceptional inspector that will save you much more than you paid for him in the long run. He works for YOU and not for the agents. His inspections are there to educate you about your soon to be purchase and not to steer you in any direction. Great person and company. I 100% recommend him. I could tell you how he -- completely unsolicited --offered to walk through the report in person with me whenever I got into Washington for the home sale. But Y'ALL. Let me tell you instead how I called this guy nearly TWO YEARS AFTER THE INSPECTION in a panic during the last big freeze when an exterior hose bib failed. Why? Because a) the water company had come through and updated the water meter, changing the look of the main shut-off (rendering my limited experience with the valve totally useless), and b) no plumber would come out, since they were responding to 19,383,629 other freeze-related emergencies. I expected NOTHING from this guy at this point: it was the hailiest of Hail Mary's. Instead, I got a quick "I'm on my way" from him. WHAT?!? When he got there, found another shut-off, and kept me from going without water (and my house from floating away on its own plumbing-failure river), my shriveled little Grinchy heart DID grow three sizes that day! J is good people doing good work. I will never work with anyone else for home inspections.

The report states that the venting above the gas stove was working properly but there is no vent at all there, and that has been an ongoing issue in my house. The report also states that the water dispenser in the fridge was working normally but there is not even a water line connected to the refrigerator. I had read really good reviews about this business, so I had hoped for the same. Unfortunately it was a sub par inspection.
