So I'm updating my review my acrylics didn't last me at all! At 1 week the design and black tip was already chipping. At 2 weeks the nails were painfully popping off!!! I cut the acrylics and was able to just chip the gel off. I've never been able to do that with any other full set I have gotten. I've been going here for 1 1/2-2 years and ken always do my nails for me. Last week I went out the country and someone else did my nails and toes well after 3 days the gel started breaking off while I was in another country. We I got back the next day I called ken to let him know and I feel my nails should be done at no charge since the gel broke off two of my nails within 5 days. He told me to come in the following Tuesday because he was coming in late Monday. Well Tuesday comes around no ken in the shop and other guy called him over the phone and they spoke in there language so I don't know what they discussed and next thing I know the guy told me he wasn't doing my nails over and he's only going to replace the two nails when tho the gel started to break on my other nails which I showed him and the nail polish on my toes was messed up because they act like they couldn't paint my toes right (which I didn't ask them to redo) he told me no he's no doing my nails I asked him to call ken the owner he told me to call ken (I don't have kens number) and he's not replacing my nails. So two weeks ago we were in MD and my BFF and I wanted to get our nails done while the guys had a boys night and went to Baltimore to eat steak and drink and watch the Capitals game. We ended up at Prosessional Nails because BFF had been here a few times and loved it. My favorite part was when the pulled out the cheese grater type implement and proceeded to scrape off the dead skin. At first I was like WTH is that a cheese grater? Then I realized what it was for and was all like here are my feet have at it. Now don't think my feet are nasty and corny but we all have dead skin and it was an awesome way to get it off. This was followed by a massage and then polish. I also had my finger nails done and they did the cutest flowers I have ever seen. It is a gentleman who bought the shop and started it a few years ago and asked his sister and brother to move from CA to MD to help him run it. They do a great job and are very friendly. This wa my first time here and I loved it!!! Ken did a great job on my nails and I think I'm hooked. He was friendly and knowledgeable. He is even up to date on the new trends. Little known places like this are the best to go to cause they take care of you. Might be off putting when u walk in cause it's not all fancy but I promise you won't regret it if u stay. There were two women working on my nails instead of one dedicated technician and neither of them did a good job. My nails were not shaped and look like press on nails. I called for an appointment, never been. I walk in & was told not sure we can refill because my nails are "thin" First of all, I've never heard that as I've had nails done for years. But once I found Professional Nails and had Kenny do my nails, I haven't gone anywhere since! The shop is always clean and friendly. Kenny and Kathy are awesome!! Quality and affordability!! I love my nails! I researched different salons to find a price that was something I was comfortable paying. The basic ombré design started at $65. I paid $57 ($60 had I paid with my card) with an additional design where that would have cost me upwards of $80-90 due to the nail extensions, coffin shape and removing my previous set. I am very picky when it comes to my nails, I went to professional nails and I had let KEN so my nails. That was a mistake! After just 3 days of just having my the middle finger nail broke, went back and they had PAM fix it and she did a way better job in one nail than what men had done. Now with my nails being one week old my index finger just broke off. This is unbelievable! I will not go back, and most definitely DO NOT recommend them to others. read more

I have always liked gel over acrylic however finding a nail technican that could do them properly was another issue. I had stoped getting my nails because most salons want your money without giving you a decent product. I started going to TA Professional Nail just to see if they were any good and I was suprised. I only see Kevin and his gel manicures are the best around. They last for a good 2-3 weeks! Once I saw Peter but wasn't happy, my cuticle was all ripped up, a few of my nails chipped within a few days of getting them done. They repaired them for free but who has time to keep going back for repairs? There pedicures are average, I won't let them do my brows but Kevin is the only one I'll let touch my nails. I'll make an appointment and wait for him. I've been getting my nails done for over 20 years and I've been to several shops in the area. Mimi nails, Phonex, City nails, Clippers, Rose nails and none of them compare. read more

This is a small nail salon in Old Town Gaithersburg owned by husband and wife. Kevin is the owner and he does state of the art gel powder nails. His brother Ken does it also. I see his wife Tiffany for pedicure and Kevin for Pink and White power gel. There aren't many local nail salons that do what he does and it looks amazing. It is a lot better than OPI and CND Shellac with UV and it lasts well over 3 weeks for me. The prices are very competitive as well. The quality beats places in Kentlands and King Farm. read more

I was in Maryland visiting my boyfriend a few Fridays ago and in DESPERATE need of a pedicure, so to Yelp I turned. I chose Professional Nails based off some of the reviews as well as the estimated price. The experience ended up being relatively decent. I wasn't expecting to find a complete hole-in-the-wall salon (truly, it is completely tucked away, I had a very hard time finding it and the interior is nothing to write home about..) but the service made up for the location. Btw- parking is non-existent, probably exacerbated by the fact that it was a Friday..! The pedicure ended up being more than I expected, since they charge extra for the dead-skin removal (with the solution + cheese-grater type of device) but it was well worth the extra $5. The woman who did my toes was very sweet and very patient while I decided on a color (and they had a good selection of polishes in my opinion! The one I chose was Orly but they also had Essie and OPI). This is a place I would return to, for the quality of the pedicure- though next time I will have my boyfriend drop me off so I don't have to fret about parking! read more

After going to several nail salons with my wife to get her her nails done, I have been becoming a self proclaim expert on what makes it a great experience. Quality of work, customer service and sanitary. These guys are Professional at what they do. We were greeted by Kevin and Ken. Super friendly guys who did a great job with my wife nails. My wife has experience in the nail industry back in California and she mentioned that these guys are extremely sanitary with their tools. They use new buffers, clipper, and nail filer each time. She also said they used the most updated sterilizing techniques. We have gone to several nail salons and there are plenty of bad ones which I will not mention. They have nice technicians, very nice designs. but some of the technicians didn't really understand what I was trying to say when I asked for specific details. The attention isn't very good. I had about two to three people switching and taking turns. At the end of the day, the nails turned out fabulous and the colors were exact to the color of the nails I wanted in the picture. I went here because I was pressed for time and it was the only Nail Salon that was open on a Sunday at 10 AM. The owners did not arrive until 10:15 am, but they were professional and friendly as I was the first customer to have arrived. Almost immediately I noticed the decor which appears to be outdated and poorly sanitized. I believe this to be a priority when owning a nail salon due to the nature of the business. Anyway, I remained cool because it was my only option. The lady was extremely helpful and pleasant when completing my manicure and pedicure. I asked her to redo a few of my nails and she did not object. Overall I'd say the experience was pretty good. I'm not sure if I'll be a long-term customer but it's a great alternative if you're in the Old Towne area. read more

I got to the salon about 20 mins after my friend and for one she still hadn't been helped then a lady walked in after us and got taken care of right away for what ever reason ...... then he starts my friends nails does a good job and i go sit down for my turn and he says he's not doing my nails he has to go home now i don't understand why i had to sit here for two hours for NOTHING very upsetting because i had to do a lot to take time out to get my nails done so i asked if he will fix my broken nail before he goes since i waited all that time for nothing. They are very welcoming and nice, I got assisted very quickly without an appointment, like other salons I had to wait almost an hour(in big salons, this specific one was a small salon) Very quick with the process, and they leave you with a nice manicure, they make sure exactly what u want. Now my bad experience was that, I asked a full set(mani, and pedi) and after I my nails dried, I was waiting for them to tell me to get my pedicure. But no, I waited almost half an hour there in the nail drier waiting to be called up, I saw some that were busy but I didn't want to say anything rude.(you know how they can be...) Eventually I went up to the guy who did my nails(nice guy btw, should of gotten his name) and asked when I was about to get my pedi, he told one of his coworkers and I eventually did get my pedi, but it was 7:00 which they were about to close, but some were just walking around talking to their coworkers, which ticked me off, like You see me there waiting tf!? First & last visit to this place. My usual nail salon was closed and it was my only day off for a while so I resorted to checking some reviews and found that this one seemed promising. I asked for a gel fill & a french manicure. Was told it'd be $35 but was charged $38 ($3 isn't a big deal, but just adds to the situation.) My french manicure is completely uneven, my gel wasn't filed well and is unsmooth. The shape of my nails isn't consistent at all. There was also residue from my previous gel polish that wasn't filed off and is visible. They're not even the same thickness... Also, you'd expect after a gel manicure that they'd spray your nails & clean it off- but no, I had oil put on my fingers with a brush & was told i was finished- didn't even bother to wipe off the nasty oil or rub it in. Aside from the poor job that was done- the place isn't even clean. Granted it's not in the best area, but you'd expect some sort of cleanliness from a nail salon, no? The nail cutters/ tweezers that they use do not come out of sterilized packages, they sit in a dirty cup and used on everyone w/o being cleaned. The brushes they used look like they've never been washed. I called to let them know about this terrible job & they told me to come all the way back and that they'd "fix it." Now while that was a somewhat decent gesture, I have a job and unfortunately rarely get free time to get my nails done, so driving all the way back & waiting for my nails to get completely redone was not an option. I explained that I should not be charged for something like this and the reply I got was "we don't do refunds. sorry." I definitely do not recommend, sorry. read more

I don't know how this place has such a high rating. I went in for a pedicure and gel nail soak off and the first thing I noticed was the strong cigarette smell in the salon along with lighters laying around everywhere. Aren't fake nails extremely flammable? Seems careless. Despite my extreme desire to turn and walk straight out, I sat down and began my pedicure. Let's just say it wasn't relaxing in both terms of environment and the service itself. My toenails were hardly touched and were left crooked, jagged and sharp. I will be fixing them at home or at a different salon. The gel nail soak off was okay, my nails were undamaged and strong. However I have been to salons that give you the courtesy of filing your nails and putting on a clear coat of polish. That was not the case here. read more

Ken is an amazing nail person HOWEVER I had to find a new salon because they would take appointments but then take walk-ins. I had to wait for Kens for 30 mins while wife Kathy started my removal of gel polish AND I HAD AN APPOINTMENT. Then asked to wait 10 mns for Ken and then another 10 mins. When I finally said I was leaving Ken told the person that he had to see me and came over. No conversation, very uncomfortable. Now I had been a cllient for over 2 years. Came every 2-3 weeks. This was so very awkward!!. Kathy said that they were understaffed that day. I said that was fine but that they should then tell walk-ins that they had to wait due to client already scheduled. They did not apologize and I was the one left to feel bad. Never been back which is really sad as I was a regular and faithful customer of theirs.
