I took my car here for body repairs a few years ago. Their prices were a little higher than another shop, but since the insurance was covering minus the deductible it didn't matter to me at the time. (After all, sometimes you get what you pay for, and higher price could mean better work.) Car was repaired on time. Front office was kind and courteous. They connected with my insurance company making it really easy for me. I needed a rental car, and it was all arranged. Someone met me at the shop and drove me to the rental car office. When I picked up my car, again the rental car I was driving was coordinated so that it was easy. I didn't need to arrange a ride from the rental car back to Professional Touch. read more

I joined yelp just to write this review. I work for a company and many people "yelp" us. The site is very helpful in some ways, but from time to time you get people writing reviews who just want to complain. (usually these people expect the impossible and you could never make happy.) I am not that person. I had a terrific experience at The Professional Touch. My car was rear ended about a month ago and needed a pretty good amount of work. My insurance company actually recommended The Professional Touch as being a reputable company. I was treated professionally from the moment I arrived and always received proper communication during the entire time my car was in the shop. I brought my sports car in after some guy clobbered it in a parking lot. Brought it here because the guy's insurance was going to cover it and I heard these guys were expensive and good. Took my car there and the first thing I asked was, can you match the paint. I admit the paint was a pearlescent but they said yes, absolutely. That is the only reason I gave them my business. The repair took two weeks longer than they said it would. I checked the car out a week after it began repairs and the workers shoved a ton of parts from the car inside right on the seats(my car is a 2 seater) and got everything all dirty and broke my charger(and tried to fix it later but it was toast). Affer I got my car back the color match was ridiculously bad. Noticeable from 30 feet away. My family told them it was just unacceptable and they said theres nothing they can do. I went to 4 shops around santa cruz to ask their opinion if the color was just too difficult or they botched it, and all of them agreed that it looked awful. Came back later to talk to Karl and he agreed it didn't match and said it's not his fault. Said it is up to insurance to decide if it is bad enough. Helene however, was nice, though she was the one that told me it would match paint perfectly. Such a bummer and if you really care for your car, do not bring it here. read more

I brought my 2004 MIni there 2 years ago when it got crunched 2 years ago on Scotts Valley Blvd, and have NO complaints, only compliments for Professional Touch! Not only are they awesome on customer service and keeping the customer informed about their vehicle, they do fantastic work! (Hazel can keep the magazines) The paint was matched to the factory paint and there was no sign of the accident at all, PLUS I got my little blue Mini back on schedule (after a slight delay which was caused by Mini, OH and I was able to pick up the rental car right there. I have a new Mini now, which was rear ended in Scotts Valley last week - so, I will definitely be bringing it back to Karl and the guys and gals at P.T.!!! read more

I hit a deer and ended up doing far more damage than I had originally thought. Roger and Karl took good care of me, and did an excellent job. You cannot even tell there had been any damage at all! The paint blends perfectly, everything is properly aligned, and it looks beautiful! The work was completed on time, without any hassles. I hit a deer going about 60mph in a brand new Audi that I had just bought less than 6 months before. The repair people were friendly and helpful, and they did an excellent job repairing the car. It still looks new. I was very happy with the repair, and they kept me informed as to when it would be finished. They also took my rental car back for me and helped me load my stuff into the car when I left. Carl was the one who did the final walk-around with me. I was apprehensive about using this business but it was next door to hertz so for convenience I used them. I was pleasantly surprised by how well the job was done and how easy they were to work with. I discovered a small problem when I got the car home, called them, they said come back anytime. Went back the next day and they stopped what they were doing and fixed it. I think her name is Helen and she was helpful and reassuring, but that is true of everyone I met with there. I have no negatives to write about as the body work was great read more

We have had three different cars repaired here, Volkswagen, Honda, and BMW, and each one was expertly repaired. The customer service was consistently polite and supportive and it did not make a difference whether the job was an insurance claim or a private pay repair. Highly recommended! read more

Early last week, I took my self damaged Subaru Forester to Professional Touch. I went there because my spouse had taken her car there a couple of times and we were both pleased with the work. I was greeting by Clark when I entered the office. I told him about my situation and he immediately began to take information from me and immediately inspected my car's damage. I found him to be both affable and professional. He explained that he would forward an estimate to my insurance but that it was my responsibility make a damage claim to my insurance company. He then directed me to the Hertz rental office to rent a care that would be covered by my insurance. The Hertz office is just off to the side of main office complete with a box of donuts sitting on the counter. I was greeted by a very cordial Hertz representative and secured a car within a matter minutes. He explained that they were running short of cars because of run on rentals due to accidents in the previous week's rainstorm. He gave me a temporary rental and asked that I come back later to get a more desirable rental which was ready for me when I returned. Later that afternoon, I receive a call from Helene who informed me that my insurance company would approve the repair of my care as the the cost of the repair. She was both professional and sympathetic in give me the bad news. She indicated that my insurance company would take possession of the car within the next couple of days. I subsequently remembered that I left an important identification card in the driver's side visor. I called and Clark answered the phone and indicated that he would hold it for me in his office. I told him that is would be a couple of days. When I went in to pick up the card, I had a brief but cordial conversation with Clark. I must say that I am mystified by some of the negative ratings for Professional Touch. But I think I understand the dynamic. It is said that customers who experience a positive outcome go off merrily without a second thought. I really believe that the less than positive reviews are due to persons tying to stretch the repair to other unrelated damage.or unrealistic expectations. I will definitely use Professional Touch in the future should I have the unfortunate experience of damage to my car. read more

After a second accident with our two cars in two months, I decided to go to the nearest State Farm certified body shop and skip the longer drive into Santa Cruz. I am so glad I did! This shop not only fixed our Audi beautifully, it also handled coordinating the tow to the shop AND it has FREE loaner cars! Add to the fact that the car was ready very quickly, and I can't recommend these folks enough. read more

I've been taking my cars here for the last 15 years. I use to recommend this place with flying colors, however, now I can just say TAKE YOUR BUSINESS SOMEWHERE ELSE unless you are ok with being mislead, talked down to, yelled at, and don't care if your car is fixed when you go to pick it up. I had my mom take her car here for some body work. We dealt with Peter who apparently takes in the vehicles and is responsible for project managing the work. When Peter went out to the vehicle with us, we noticed he didn't have anything to write with nor did he have a camera with him. We asked him if he needed to write anything down, he frankly answered that his mind was a 'steal trap'. Before leaving we had to sign off on work that needed to be done. We were hesitant because he asked us to sign a blank paper. Anywhere else I would have left. However, I've had several cars worked on here and thought maybe this guy is new so didn't want to make him look bad. Peter was suppose to email us a work order, but when that wasn't received I called the office. Long story short he couldn't recall us or the work that was suppose to be done. I mentioned that this was why we asked if he needed to write anything down. Well, Peter didn't like that remark and he started yelling at me insisting his mind was a steal trap and that it was our fault the repairs were going to take so long because we didn't bring parts with us. huh? Isn't this an auto body place? Not to mention we had told him several times that if he couldn't do the work to let us know and that we would take the car to the dealer instead because we wanted the parts to be right. Fast forward 3 weeks. We were told the car was ready to be picked up. When we arrived the person at the front wanted us to sign off on the paperwork without looking it over and the car was no where in viewable site. We started asking questions about the paperwork and the guy started to squirm a little. However, I just thought this was another 'new' person because I hadn't seen him there before either. I paid the insurance deductible so he could get the car. We of course wanted to look at the work--- and thank goodness we did because they had missed a whole section of the car that they had said they had painted! The car wasn't ready at all. We had to leave the car for another 5 days! I don't know what happened to this place but I won't be going back. ** And a note for the guy who said Professional Touch claims that people writing bad yelps were just trying to work the system... I highly doubt that. And Yelp reviews get filtered by YELP for various reasons.... In response to KARL: 3/29/2013 Hi Karl: Clearly you don't have your facts straight. As you know service levels can change. I did receive your letter last week and was going to reach out to you after the holiday, however now that you've posted your response it's clear that you have not researched the incident. 1. I was there when the car was dropped off by the tow truck. 2. I was there when the vehicle was inspected. 3. Your guy never used a pen/pencil or paper when I was there --- again Peter has a 'steal trap' memory. 4. I NEVER instructed your personnel not to touch the car for repair. I NEVER told them the police was going to come to your shop. Again, a great example of how taking notes would have done a world of good in this case. 5. Regarding 'perception'.... ugh... this was an actual POOR experience with your shop not something I dreamed up. 6. I had a couple of different phone calls with Peter but clearly he was too busy yelling at me over the phone to write anything down. I also spoke to your office assistant and my insurance company even called your office because we were so concerned over the lack of communication from your shop. 7.Complete LIE that you never got any feedback from us, I NEVER got the revised quote from your office. 8. When I went in to get the vehicle the work hadn't been completed! What are you talking about 'once you learned about the front bumper being loss related you took care of it????? It was on the initial quote. 9.What do you mean by my own omission I didn't read the quotes? Clearly you didn't read my complaint---Clearly I read what I did get, how else was I to know to call your shop to get a revised quote? 10. Two stars only because Shane and Helena were kind and professional throughout my nightmare. Let me just say, you probably should go somewhere else. Tell AAA you'll find your own shop. How AAA endorses this place, I'll never understand. This was repair for an accident where the other guy was at fault, so AAA asked me to go here. Work was shoddy. They replaced OEM parts with cheap Chinese knockoffs without my knowledge. The only reason I found out was because right when I picked up my truck the new driver window FELL OUT on the road. Turns out the cheap Chinese knockoff didn't fit so they tried to use glue to keep it in place in the track. The windshield rattled and had to be redone. Two new scratches occurred while other body work was being done (and wasn't fixed until I threw a fit with AAA). Interior panels were installed wrong so my ceiling lights were dangling. Windshield glass was not removed when a door panel was replaced and scratched at the window when rolling it down, glass was left in the seat tracks so you had to crunch over it when adjusting the seat. It was just absurd how very BAD of a job these guys did. The car came back smelling like cigarettes and was dirty inside and out. Thankfully I have seat covers because there were grease stains on my seat. A windshield, window and minor repairs took three months because they had to redo everything once or TWICE. I'm sorry to say I would not return to this place, and I'd advise others to tread with great caution. read more

I would not recommend this shop. I called and the customer service is absolutely awful. I needed to get my frame measured (which I was told only takes a couple of minutes) and the woman on the phone said she would have to "pass" on taking my business. I asked her why and she said they were "too busy" to take anyone else. I told her there had to be some time slots available at some point and she said she couldn't take the time away from other jobs. They were not given the opportunity to repair my car, as I went and got it back after they tried to split the damages from a tree limb falling on my new car and turning it into two seperate claims. Doesn't sound like a big deal, but they were trying to make me pay two seperate deductibles. TERRIBLE!! Do not bring your car here! I made the mistake of taking my car to professional touch. The receptionist was nice and welcoming when I first dropped off the car. After 2 weeks I get a call that my car is ready. I go pick it up and the receptionist has me sign paper, pay deductible and just hands me the keys. She didn't bother walking outside to see if I liked the work that was done to my car. It looked ok, so I left the body shop. Once I got home I noticed the paint color was a completely different shade!! I called the body shop they had me bring the car over so they can take a look, turns out I was right. I had to wait a week to drop off my car because they didn't have time to fix it!!! Fast forward to Today when I picked up my car, it seems like they got the color right but the paint job is Terrible. It looks like its peeling from the door jams!! As if that wasn't bad enough while I was driving it on the freeway I noticed my hood shaking really bad, I pulled over to the side of the freeway and sure enough the hood wasn't closed all the way. I don't want to imagine what would of happened if the hood would of popped open!!! DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE, UNLESS YOU WANT A SHITTY JOB!! read more

I took my car here a few years ago after a minor collision because I believe in supporting local business and I live right down the street, they have great commercial and seem to walk the talk. I recently took my car in for service and the dealer asked me when was my car in an accident, not a question you would like to hear as they clearly noticed something. One thing they pointed out is the insulation between the motor and the hood was not installed properly and was hanging down almost touching my engine. They showed how the wrong size was ordered and it was never installed properly, they also showed how a piece of my grill was loose and some bad paint work. I don't open my hood so I trusted the work would be done to my car's specs. I will never recommend this body shop, please look elsewhere and save yourself a headache. read more

This shop has the best paint department available, powered by veteran painters as well as a top-of-the-line Nova Verta spray booth. If you want to get your car fixed then you can go to any shop, but if you want your car to look as good as it did the day you bought it then take it to pro touch. The owner, Karl, is a former mechanical engineer and is as sharp as they come; he personally oversees all operations and is not afraid to help his employees. Very accommodating shop and very friendly staff, they have worked on both my compact BMW and my father's large, dually F-350. read more

No good. Had side body damage repaired and when I picked it up he had it turned so the side where the work was done was in the shade and at first glance it looked ok. But when I washed it at home in the sun I could see all the sanding marks from coarse sandpaper and after a few years the clear coat peeled off. The guy in front speaks english to the shop foreman who turns around and speaks spanish to the shop labor. Ya anyone can rub sandpaper and spray paint. Crappy place and lousy quality of work. I needed repair work because of a fallen limb on my hood. I also needed to have the top of my car painted because of a rust spot. Roger was professional from the beginning and very friendly. He offered good advice on the repair. The car was finished when they promised but boy was I surprised. I have NEVER had such a beautiful paint job, even from the dealer's garage. They were very easy to work with, I did receive a written estimate. Karl even called the Jeep Manufacturer to check on a part that I might need. TERRIBLE experience!!!! This is my first Yelp review and have never had reason to utilize this service until today. Unfortunately, I'm writing to complain about this business, The Professional Touch in Scotts Valley, Ca. I contacted them to ask a few simple questions about a paint repair to my vehicle. When I was directed to the Production Manager, Roger, he was immediately very short in his tone and seemed to be inconvenienced by my questions. I explained my situation, and he proceeded to inquire with questions that I answered, but he was not willing to offer me a price estimate. I finally told him, very directly, that I was happy to continue answering his questions as long as he would answer mine. It goes without saying that I chose not to proceed with their service and told him that I did not like the way he was speaking to me. Frankly, he was uncooperative, unprofessional, rude and insulting all in the matter of a minutes-and-a-half conversation. Don't expect a "professional" customer service experience from this man, in particular, when dealing with this business. An extremely unsettling experience!!!!! read more

I recently had a second EXCELLENT experience with Professional Touch! Four years ago I got rear ended and Prof.Touch did the repairs. What impressed me most was their small size. It allowed them to give outstanding customer service. From the first point of contact, Helene, to getting the estimate from Shane, to technical advice from Karl, to using their Hertz rental car service; they can't be beat. The workmanship was top notch and the car was completed BEFORE they said it would be. This second experience was no different from the first. Still top notch! Over the past four years, I've referred four other people to them and they each been as thoroughly satisfied as I have been. This recent repair was quite extensive; again same excellent service and quality work. There's a reason they are a State Farm Insurance preferred Auto Body shop. When you use a State Farm authorized shop, State Farm guarantees the work the shop performed for the life of the car!! With that kind of promise, you cannot go wrong. read more

I brought my suburban to the professional touch for some AAA insurance body work. while I was there I thought Imight as well get some paint work done that was not AAA insurance related. Iwould pay out of pocket for this work to be done. the work was done and less than 1year later to top of my suburban paint is coming off the top of my suburban. I bring my suburban into Karl for him to look at the top of the suburban with the peeling paint and he tells me that since I paid cash for work to be done that he did not warranty his work to the top of my suburban and that he only warranty's work that is insurance company paid and that the reason the paint was coming off in less than a year is because my car sits in the sun all day and the sun damage is what caused my paint to peel. I told Karl than all the cars you paint will peel in a year since they are out in the sun. I will never ever bring another car to the unprofessional touch in Scott's valley read more

I had a truly exceptional experience with Professional Touch. So much so, as a matter of fact, that I it stuck in my mind to acknowledge them even though I procrastinated on it for several months. I had a no-fault accident that resulted in a significant amount of damage. The insurance company was initially planning to total the car, even though I wanted to keep it. I know specifically that Karl negotiated with the insurance company to get them to accept the repairs, and did quite a bit of work to locate parts that were less expensive but of perfectly good quality. I'm also under the impression that when the actual work was done, some unexpected things were found and he ended up eating the additional costs. The results were pristine, which gave me the sense that their standards in their work go beyond just the money. Karl was very straightforward as well as friendly in talking with me, and I had a few pleasant and helpful conversations with Helene as well. Again, not just a positive experience, but an exceptional one in a business where experiences are not always so good. The presence of a Hertz office on site was a plus.
