Didn't know what to expect when we came here. The parking lot was fairly empty and it looked like a business office. When we walked in we went upstairs and found the museum. We were the only people there for a while and saw 2 other couples while we were upstairs. The cars, motorcycles, and parts are absolutely beautiful! Very cool to see. Loved trading about their history as well. If you make your way down the long hallway upstairs, you'll find yourself in the garage. Honestly, this was my favorite part of it. You can watch mechanics work their magic, and see all these collector cars get upgrades. The downstairs area is a showroom where you can purchase cars and etc. Don't miss this either. Such a cool spot to check out for anyone into cars! It is free to enter so if you're on the fence, just stop in and take a gander as you won't regret it. The showroom is on the first floor with a nice selection of exotic/rare cars for sale. There is a museum on the second floor, with a bunch of interesting/niche cars and motorcycles on display. Off to the side there is a hallway with an entrance to view the workshop from the second floor. Such a neat setup! We were just there to view, not buy or have any work done so we didn't interact with staff much. The place was kept very clean, as one would expect from a place of this caliber. Cars in the showroom and workshop easily worth over $1mil. Some I may not ever see again in my lifetime. A good place to see cool exotic & race cars restored to the highest level. They also have some awesome motorcycles scattered around. It's a showroom, "museum", & restoration dhop all in one place and its the best/biggest cool car display that i know of around here. If you go, you'll find many exotic street cars inside the entryway but make sure to go upstairs to see all the vintage racecars. Pro tip: when upstairs make sure you find the balcony above the restoration area to see around 20 cars of many types being restored. Yes, you can open the door & walk out there. The only downside is the cars don't change very often & they're almost all the same as the last time i was there about 4 years ago BUT its not supposed to be a rotating inventory... it's mostly a showroom to show the caliber of restored, historically significant, cars for sale. It's awesome for first time visitors so if you haven't been there yet, make sure to visit Canepa. read more

If you are a car lover this place is a great find! Off the beaten path in Scott's Valley is this hidden gem. They offer a variety of high end services for the auto enthusiast. What I love most about this place is the museum. It is impressive seeing all the race cars and specialty cars. They have a showroom downstairs, the museum is upstairs, and they just opened a new showroom across the street. If you go upstairs they have a catwalk through a door on the left that lets you see their shop and you can go take a peek at the mechanics working in their natural habitat. Like a zoo but instead of animals there are cars and instead of zookeepers there are mechanics. You never know what you will see. It's amazing!!! We make it a point to stop here every couple of months just to see what's new. read more

Josh, Mike, the front receptionist extraordinaire, and all the staff at Canepa helped us out of a tough spot when I locked the keys of my Boxster in the trunk. Initial calls were made to mobile locksmiths, and even an "authorized" Roadside Assistance, but neither were able to remedy the situation. We decided to try reaching out to local Porsche specialist which led us to Canepa. Over the phone they generously shared their knowledge with my husband on where to locate an emergency access to the trunk. Additionally they offered their help despite not being a repair service shop, if we could have the car towed to them before closing time. Upon arrival at their immaculate facility it becomes apparent that their true specialty is in restoration, design, customization, and competion vehicles. Services beyond what our needs were. But yet they helped us on the spot. Even with their already full schedule they went over, and beyond for us. Immense gratitude, and thanks to all the exceptional people at Canape. BTW they have a mind blowing inventory of cars for sale, and 2 awesome car museums to stroll through. read more

I've been here in the past- it's a fantastic collection of high end classic and exotic vehicles. Admission is free and the facility is wonderful. I came by today during business hours (wearing a mask, of course) and was turned away because I did not have an appointment. While I understand that business hours and policies are subject to change, especially during the current state of affairs, I find it frustrating that this nuance is not posted anywhere on their website. I have no problem with making an appointment, but this was not advertised! It's especially frustrating when we can clearly see an EMPTY building with only one person sitting at the front counter. It makes complete sense to implement an appointment system to lower the amount of foot traffic, but it's a little ridiculous to turn away prospective customers from an an empty building. read more

Had the privilege of taking a tour of Canepa and it was inspiring. Canepa is one of the only places that you'll be able to get up close and personal with history making vintage race cars, everything from Daytona to formula races. No wincing behind ropes, y'all, you can just hover! Cameras are very allowed. Honestly, these cars are insane. Their builds and their histories are entertaining and impressive. It is scary how fast these cars were, especially with the lack of safety regulations required in the past. The Canepa shop is impressive. They maintain, paint, manufacture, repair, and restore, nearly everything in house. They take so much pride in their name that purchasing a car gets extensive work in research. It's an awesome experience if you can stop by for a tour. read more

Attended Coffee and Cars with a bunch of guys oohing and ahhing over the rare and exotics filling the showroom, shop and museum. The event was pretty awesome, especially for those in love with race car history and expensive classic cars. My favorite part was the guided tour. Super informative because I didn't have a clue what I was walking past. The historian had a booming voice and was a great story teller. Free coffee and doughnuts. They looked good,  but I didn't have any. Hoping to return for another guided tour because the inventory changes constantly depending on the cars they are working on and the cars on loan from other museums. Wooooooow.... At Monterey Car Week one year, we managed to catch the Mecum auction grounds completely empty. My friend and I spent a couple hours giving ourselves a private tour of some of the most spectacular cars on Earth, It was a day I thought might never be topped. Enter Canepa. I wanted to come here for ages, and setting foot inside the showroom delivered one of the most wonderful sights my retinas ever taken in. I was careful not to drool too much over all the Porsches on the ground floor - one better than the next - not to mention the spectacularly mint black Countach waving me over with one door up. We made our way upstairs and were greeted with a who's who of legendary racecars. If you're a sucker for historic moments and great stories, these cars will amaze you. The upper showroom is complete with informational posters and pictures from each car's races. What ended up being the most amazing part of all was going out onto the walkway which overlooks Canepa's shop. There, we spotted a couple 959's, a Countach, and a few other gems undergoing the world's best and most thorough cosmetic surgery. But...I could have never expected what I saw next. Behind the Porsches sat a legend. In a much less eye-catching but still beautiful color [dark grey] and partially-deconstructed yet still unmistakable: a Bugatti EB 110. I was floored. In a world flooded with exotic cars, this is one of the unicorns. My friend couldn't even see it ("All I see is a black blob"), while I was having a 5-year-old-with-the-best-Christmas-present-ever moment. That front end is iconic. Ugly-beautiful, yet majestic. As I was having my moment on the walkway, a man walked onto the shop floor. Figuring I had nothing to lose, I yelled out if I could possibly come see the Bugatti, and he obliged. That man was Marco, their Director of Sales, and I'm not sure he'll ever understand just how happy he made me and how many dreams were fulfilled (the shop floor delivers as much of a punch as the other two showrooms combined), and I am forever grateful. I will be back to see the EB in all its restored glory! And then cry when it gets sold for $1.5m. // EDIT: Before I could even publish this, I went back to check on the Bugatti; it's still in the works, but the Countach is nearing completion. The quality of work these guys do is bar-none. And they just had to send out an email with "deals" for the holidays... DON'T TEMPT ME! read more

This is a little hidden gem. The first floor is classic luxury vehicles for sale. No prices posted. If you have to ask the price .... well, you know the drill. The second floor is a museum. There is also a viewing area of the garage where they service all the high end luxury cars. Attended a private tour of Canepa through my boyfriends' work and was not expecting to be thoroughly fascinated by the history of cars. I also wasn't expecting to be enthralled for the 2.5 hours of the tour, either! Our tour guide and historian, John, made every minute of the tour interesting, fun-filled, entertaining, and was enthusiastic the entire time. It helped, I'm sure, that he truly loves and is passionate about cars and working at Canepa. We got a private tour of the showroom, restoration workshop, photo area, and museum which were all SO CLEAN and organized. It was incredibly impressive. Canepa is so much more than an auto repair shop. It's a place holding so much history and knowledge about cars, with people working there that truly care about what they are doing. There are some rare, classic, and SUPER expensive cars. And the fact that Bruce Canepa himself still runs the shop, races the cars, and is 110% invested in making sure the shop lives up to his name, is rare and kind of awesome. He sounds like a total bad ass dude. It's certainly a prestigious place and rightfully so. I can only review on the basis of working with Canepa on a tour-only level but the customer service, the people, and the facility itself speaks highly. read more

I'm at a loss for words to describe my experience here. Beautiful cars with beautiful history that if your wallet permits, can own a piece of. There a few buildings on this property, one dedicated to their sales showroom and museum and the others are shop related. The showroom downstairs is probably where I spent the most time as it's a collection of some of the most beautiful cars in the world. They're not brand new. They're not the newest models. They're not cheap. It's a collection of beautifully restored or gently used rare cars, some of them almost a 100 years old. The floor salesmen, though they knew we couldn't afford anything there, were extremely knowledgeable of each car they had and were very friendly and helpful in guiding me through the history, mechanical upgrades or restorations of the cars and were just a plain joy to chat with. The upstairs was dedicated space to Canepa and the racing history that he had. Lots of great vintage race cars that Canepa drove during the span of his career. Amazing. Now, the shop adjacent was just a building full of Porsches and other luxury cars in storage. It was like being in heaven. If you're a car junkie, you can easily spend hours here so it's a great place to hang out and breathe in some history. Buyers beware bought a vehicle showed up damage which happened before it shipped and they admit it but both Robert and Bruce the owner won't do anything about it. Robert touted their 100 point inspection and theirs more things that don't work on the car than do. Advertising vehicle with 519 miles since restoration and the speedometer don't even work. Who knows how many miles the vehicle really has on it. The cars are definitely not as pictured and you definitely cannot take the word for it. read more

If you didn't know, Canepa has an open house called "Coffee and Cars" every second Saturday from 8am to noon. You can visit the museum, shop and sales floor. There is also the variety of sports cars all over the parking lot with various groups. It is here where you can see "historically correct" 100point cars and motorcycles. Feel free to wander even though I didn't see anyone wanting to test drive anything.. well maybe they come back. I did see someone discussing a partial body restoration. Canepa is the primer location to get your Porsche 959 worked on. If that doesn't mean anything to you, Bill Gates had one. They aren't that snobby though, there was a historical Abarth tuned Fiat there. Highly recommend for any automobile enthusiast. read more

This is a review of the showroom/museum Canepa maintains; it is open and free, 9-3 pm on Saturdays. It is free, and has a nicely varied collection of cars on display; highlights include a 1970s can-am car, an A/C Cobra, quite a few Porsches (356, 959), a Lister Jaguar from the 1960s, and, other odds & ends. Quite a few race cars, neat unique vehicles. The are also some motorbikes, but they all looked 1) new and 2) I don't know much about bikes. If you're popping over the hill, and want to do something in Scotts Valley on your way to/from Roaring Camp, Henry Cowell, or the Mystery Spot, it is close to the highway, and a nice little break. If you'd like to be my friend, the Lister would make an excellent gift. Oh, and the door handles on the lobby are awesome. read more

I contacted Canepa after seeing one of their vehicles online. The particular vehicle was priced higher than market value, but based on details on the Internet, I thought it might be worth it. (Internet site specifically stated it was Concours condition). Fortunately, I sent a professional Automobile Inspector to view the car. The review clearly stated this car was not concours condition, in fact there were 2 different colors of paint on the car found, chips, trim was pitted, needed new rubber around windows, undercoating, etc... I thought, well if we can negotiate the price I can overlook their "mis-representation". But once I started to look into the shops that supposedly did the work, they could not produce any receipts, I even contacted the body shops and they had no record of doing the work. I also asked them to substantiate their pricing, they claimed they put another 250 hours into the car. I asked them to provide receipts from their own shop which they could not. Ok, at this point I said, there are too many holes in their story and walked away... My advice to anyone, really check out what you are buying from them, ask for receipts, and investigate anything they tell you... Better yet, look somewhere else! read more

Wander amongst vintage Porsches and Mercedes, a Bugatti Veyron, formula race cars, and vintage Indian motorcycles. When I was there there was a Mercedes gull-wing on display. Upstairs in back you have a balcony-level view of their immaculate shop floor where restoration is underway. Be sure to bring the checkbook with the big balance, the minimum price I noticed was about $450,000 and way upwards from there! read more

I wanted to surprise my husband who SO appreciates classic cars. As we drove up to the large building, he still didn't have a clue what I had planned for him... until we reached the front door. Through the windows he already spied the gorgeous vehicles inside and breathed out in awe, "Cars..." The 2 floors of the Museum were breathtaking as you try to take in all the smooth lines and cutting edge designs at once. You have close access to each vehicle and can read the story that comes with each car as they all have a history that brought them here today. For me, the story behind each car adds so much more than just the performance specs (although my husband ooh'd and ahh'd at those too!). :) Museum entry is free; if you are a car enthusiast, you need to see this place! read more

Took my 9 year old son there to look at some classic cars. It is truly amazing to have a collection like this in Santa Cruz. The quality of classics was impressive. We came to see the 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing, and was surprised to see bunch of my childhood favorites. The people were very friendly and were happy to show my son the cars.
