We couldn't figure out a clue because the snake was actually physically missing. 4. The host on Sunday, 9/3- he was mint st all engaging. No enthusiasm. Which made our visit not as fun compared to other places we have been where the hosts were fun and energetic and got a great tip from our group. My first escape room experience! I was nervous going into the activity but the puzzles are surprisingly enjoyable to solve! I like that the puzzles are challenging but still do-able. They're a nice balance for the group because everyone can participate. Ryan (who runs Project Panic) was very informative with the instructions in the beginning to get us started. During the actual escape attempt, he offered the right amount of assistance to make the experience fun. Our group of six people was a good size for the activity. The staff was late opening the door for our 1:00pm reservation. Since they were late, there had not been enough time to cool the room down. It was miserably hot. The room was broken and multiple clues didn't work due to poor maintenance (pictures ripped, lights not coming on, pieces missing, etc.). The bathroom was unusable due to the lack of cleaning. Would not recommend as there are too many other options within 5 miles to choose from that are well maintained and managed. read more

The only thing you gotta panic about is NOT coming to this panic room. I've been to the Dallas location for this panic room and both the Dallas and this one in Houston have been the best designed panic rooms I've been to. Extremely creative. A lot of panic rooms kind of have a pattern regarding what tricks you need to use, the type of puzzles that need to be solved, but this panic room was all new and different, in the best way possible. My family went with another family and we had a great time. The puzzles were by no mean easy, but they were doable in the end - we got out with ~5 minutes to spare. We did the Cabin Fever room and had a great time with it, I am definitely looking forward to going back and trying the other rooms. Don't want to spoil any of the puzzles, so I'll let y'all go and have fun with it yourselves! Take my word for it, it's great. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, they want nothing but for you to have an incredible experience. The facilities were new, clean and modern - perfect for instagrammable moments. Project Panic offered a good balance between difficulty, immersion, and puzzle complexity. We specifically ran the "Log Cabin" escape room, and did our best to not need any of the clues the staff offered. Some of the puzzles required mathematic strengths, others were word problems, while others relied on lateral thinking! There was also a lot of "physical" puzzles that completed circuits to open other puzzles. We had a group of 6, which I believe was the perfect amount for the complexity of the puzzle. Splitting into groups of 2-3 to solve 2 things at once made it smooth and enjoyable! Nothing was too simple - nor was anything too frustratingly difficult. Whether you're a noobie or seasoned veteran of escape rooms - you'll find something entertaining here. I would definitely return to try their other puzzles in the future! read more

My first experience in an escape room was in LA, and the puzzles there were very clever and interactive. With high expectations, I tried out a couple of other escape rooms in Houston but was let down when many of the puzzles simply involved just lock combinations. So when I tried out Project Panic, I was pumped to find that all of their puzzles are super hands-on and creative. I kept thinking to myself "Whoa, that's so cool!" after uncovering each clue. Our group of 10 did both the art room gallery and cabin room and loved both! There were definitely enough puzzles to have people branch off and figure out on their own and then come back with their parts to help the group move onto the next step. My favorite of the 2 was the art room, but people in my group like both. I highly recommend Project Panic to anyone and can't wait to try out their next rooms! Parking: There is a paid parking garage attached to the building but we found some free street parking nearby on Winbern St. Plus: There's a Kura sushi right next door where some of our group members had dinner beforehand :) read more

I appreciated how clever the puzzles were in this room - they required lots of communication and teamwork, so this room is perfect for work outings or just a group of your close friends! Like some of the others have mentioned, one of the best parts about this place is the location! Located near Kura Revolving Sushi (facing Main Street) underneath Mid Main Lofts, this place is in the heart of Midtown and walking distance to great food/drink spots like Holman Draft Hall, The Breakfast Klub, and more. So easy to add Project Panic to a day of eating/hanging out in Midtown with coworkers or friends! Paid parking is available in the Mid Main Lofts Garage, but there are free/metered street parking options available on surrounding streets! read more

Had a group of 8 people and there was so much going on that each person had to team up and solve a different riddle to get out of the room. I've been in rooms before where there was a ringer who did everything while 2-3 people just watched cause there wasn't much else to do. So it was great experience for us and we spent 30 minutes after we got out sharing how each of us solved a section of the room -- would highly recommend!!! I tried out the Art Gallery room during their soft opening. The puzzles that Project Panic creates encourages the group to split up and attack different parts of the overall puzzle while still requiring the group to maintain cohesion in order to bring it all together and ultimately escape the room. Without spoiling the nuance of the room, I really enjoyed the incorporation of technology which added to the level of sophistication to the problem. I look forward to tackling future escape rooms from Project Panic. Parking was a simple process and I noticed that the location is easily accessible from the light rail. read more

Disclaimer: My experience and review is based the Art Gallery room that my group was beta testing. The final puzzles and experience will probably differ once Project Panic Houston opens. So I had the opportunity to beta test the Art gallery room with 7 other friends (total of 8). Most of my group carpooled and parked in the parking garage (not currently validated, but that might change when they open), another parked on a side street, and the last arrived by the train which has a stop right next to the escape room. Once we were all together we met with Ryan in the lobby area who would be the game master that monitored our game. He described the theme of the room, the average escape time, and some future plans for the other rooms, before sending us into the room with one hour to get out. My group had a mixed of very experience escape room players to some first timers and overall everybody had a good time getting through the puzzles. There was a healthy mix of unique and classic escape room puzzles that follows a semi-linear path. The suggested player count was 8-10, but with the version that I beta tested I would suggest 6-8 players. After we escaped we had a debrief about our experience with Ryan and then went next door for a group dinner (the location is really convenient! for getting food or drinks afterwards). I'm looking forward to see Project Panic Houston open full time with more rooms to escape! read more

I'm an experience escape room player with over 30 escape rooms under my belt. First impression of the place: Escape Room was organized and had a very friendly and knowledgeable room Master (Ryan did an awesome job while explaining both the backstory and keeping us engaged in the room). My group and I (5 in total) had such and amazing time doing the very hands on "The Gallery" room that we decided to stay and also test our skills in the "Cabin Fever" room. What did I liked most about each room? The Gallery - hands on puzzles, clues are hardly needed if you are an experience player and incorporates technology really well on the puzzles. Cabin Fever - puzzles require more attention to detail and you will test your quick thinking skills What did I like the most of the puzzles? Rooms were designed for big groups, people can spread within a room an complete separate puzzles and do not have to wait on others. Believe me this is rare to find in Houston. Overall, I highly recommend this escape room and I'm excited for the new rooms that they develop. read more

Project Panic comes up with clever and creative rooms. They're not using just the same boring trick furniture -- their puzzles are clever even for experienced escape room friends. I got to try their art gallery room (though I've been through the cabin escape at a different location). There's enough to think about and do to keep the whole group busy; no one feels like they're just extra. The puzzles also require some teamwork and communication. Everything is well thought out, and the team is clearly experienced. I'd recommend the Project Panic Series over most other escape rooms I've tried. The cabin is a little more of a challenge for sure; if you've got a bigger group, I'd probably recommend that one! If you have a smaller or more inexperienced group, the gallery may be the way to go. Both would be fun either way. For parking, there is a (pay to park) garage and some metered parking on the street, but I was able to find free street parking less than a block away! read more

We did the Cabin Fever Room as a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children age 11 and 14). Walter was our "guide". We were told that only about 20% of groups escape the room. ; We barely escaped the room as time expired (with the help of our allotment of Hints from Walter). Puzzles were challenging but fun and there was enough going on that everyone was able to participate and contribute. We were able to park on a side street for free (meters turned off on a Saturday night). We would definitely do it again (different room) with Project Panic. read more

Stopped by on a whim to play the art gallery room and had so much fun. I have played 150+ rooms and while Project Panic doesn't have quite the immersion level of The Escape Game or 13th Gate in Baton Rouge, it more than makes up for any of that with enjoyable puzzles. Me and my friend escaped with about 5 minutes left. The game master Ryan was so wonderful and kind. He was a joy to deal with and we both appreciated his passion for his escape room. This place really deserves a 2.5 star. We had reservations for a group of six and we gave an extra star for them being so accommodating to allow us to change our times on a Friday afternoon when we called in. However, the place was locked because the employee was late by about 15-20 minutes, even though we were asked to arrive 15 min early. We were from out of town and this pushed our itinerary back. No apology from the employee was made. An essential part of the puzzle did not work and we lost time trying to figure it out until we had to ask the employee several times for clarification and he figured out it was broken. At the beginning of the game, we agreed with the gamemaster that we would like a combination of provided hints (as he sees us needing them) and requested hint (as the group decided we need them) but it actually seems like we only got hints when we asked for them. I honestly doubt he was paying attention to us. This did not give me a good impression of the employee and how much they value providing a positive escape room experience for the group. But we escaped with 6 minutes remaining and it was a good deal from Groupon. read more
