A favorite is the Peanut Butter Chu and Chicken Afra. And for my dinner crew, there werent any major complaints. Flavor was there and quality. The one thing was around the desserts. Because we ordered via third-party app, I think the cake was subbed for whatever was available and not specifically we ordered. But not a major miss. Overall, delicious food and good portions. If you're in the Takoma Park area and having a taste for some warming West African cuisine, definitely check them out!

From the moment we walked in, the service was great and you can tell that they care about their customers. The African decor is also very beautiful! Something fun to look at every corner. As for the food, we got the Okra Soup with paneer and fufu, Chicken Chu and Jollof. It was my first time trying fufu and I really enjoyed it. I had a recent dental procedure that prevented me from being able to chew so it was honestly the perfect meal for me, as traditionally you're supposed to swallow the fufu. My husbands chicken chu was very flavorful and totally new to us. As for the jollof I felt it was lacking a bit of flavor and the grains of rice were a bit too el dente for my personal liking. I have had jollof at other places that I liked a bit more. Overall great spot! I love trying new West African restaurants and would recommend this to others!

This is a very humble establishment that runs on African time but serves really authentic cuisine. Go here solely for the food. Better if you can do a take out order. I had grilled lamb with spinach, jollof rice and sweet plantains. Just amazing. I also did a take out order of Ndolle (goat with some bitter leaf gravy). Loved it. There are too many issues with the restaurant. Outdated ambience, super super slow service, difficulty communicating with the staff which resulted in some extra side dishes I ended up paying for, their website doesn't work, the prices they charged were a bit more than what was on the menu (basically outdated menus) and the list simply goes on. Inspite of all these issues, I would still go there because none of those issues seemed intentional. I didn't see foul play. The manager/owner Patrick and the server/cashier Agbenfa both seemed naive and humble. They tried to make sure I enjoyed the food. I also feel I may have gotten lucky because the food that was served to me was hot. (Not cold or room temp like some of the others mentioned) I went on a Friday night. I would have to try a few more times before judging if the food is consistent. But the two entrees and the three sides I tried were all phenomenal. It also helps if you know what you are getting but I like to try new things especially when I am going to authentic places and I don't mind taking small risks. Oh the portions were huge. When it took 30 mins for the lady to come take my order, I was all set to leave the place and was prepared for a 1star experience as I started reading the reviews. But I'm glad my patience served me well. I wasn't in a rush. It was a lazy Friday evening. Lazy enough to stick around long enough to try their food.

The service was EXTREMELY slow. While our server/bartender was nice, I really wish they hadn't been so understaffed. We were a group of 15 and it took so long to get all of our orders taken and drinks made because she was the only one doing everything. Aside from that, the food was very good. I highly recommend the jerk chicken. Due to the slow service I wouldn't go out of my way to come back, but I would stop by for a quick drink and the jerk chicken wings if I happened to be in the area

Like she said, the food was absolutely delicious. My lamb chops were cooked and seasoned to perfection and the Jollof Rice was just as good. Her Red Snapper's flavor had her cleaning the bones! :) The crab cake egg rolls were VERY good, not the best that we've had but close!! Our server was friendly and he let us know that he was brand new. That said, he was a little awkward and not confident in what he was doing, so he definitely needs some work. The interior is nice, definitely more of a lounge feel than a traditional restaurant and as we were finishing up, the younger crowd was coming in for the nightlife. The next time we're in the mood for good food without the hustle and bustle of the DC crowd, Black Diamond it is!!
