I called Ekrantech to schedule service for our Magic Chef oven. When the service tech arrived, he turned on the oven, saw that the coil was heating up and said it was working fine. I told him that it takes 40 minutes to heat to 400 degrees and then does not hold the temperature. He said that if it is not working to buy a new oven because he doesn't have the parts to fix it. Our gas dryer stopped heating all of the sudden. Of course it had to be on a Friday night. We had another person look at it on Saturday and they determined it was the thermostat that would cost $140 just for the part alone! I wanted a second opinion and reached out to Alex at Ekrantech. He responded in a timely manner and said he personally didn't think that the thermostat was the issue. He was so confident in his answers and made me feel more at ease than the other provider. Since the other service did not have the part on hand and couldn't come back until Tuesday, I had Alex take a look. Sure enough it wasn't the thermostat but instead a blown fuse which was MUCH less expensive. Alex also suggested we put a different type of vent that was sturdier in the back to prevent heat from building up and causing more issues in the future (pics attached). "Exceptional" - Even that is an understatement for how delighted we were with Ekrantech - Alex is highly responsive, informative, deeply knowledgeable, and repaired our Samsung Dryer cost effectively, which is still running fine months later. And on top of that, a really interesting person to talk to. I write a lot of reviews on various platforms, and aim to write accurate and informative responses. I do not easily give high scores or write highly favorable reviews if they're not warranted. I've had mixed success in the past with Appliance repairs, so I have decades of experiences to draw from. Alex, I'd have to say, is arguably THE BEST in this field. I'd be highly surprised if you could find better within the region he covers. Background - We have a 4 year old Samsung dryer we purchased new, and it developed an awful clunking grinding/squeaking noise. It was out of warranty, and the cost to call in a Samsung repairman is prohibitive. I discovered that Alex has a very strong background working for Samsung in the past, and deep knowledge of Dryers, Washing machines etc (not to mention computer monitors and a host of mechanical and electronic systems too).
