When I went to go pick up my vehicle I noticed there was a series of issues and problems. I told the shop about it and they told me to bring the vehicle back and they will take care of it. The same day there was a piece that broke off of my car after the repairs which added dings to my hood. And scratched up the top of my car. The shop was made aware the next day and was told again about the issues. The shop told me again to come on Monday and they will review. Sunday of the same weekend came around and the rain started to get in my car. I tried calling the shop again but they were closed. Monday came around and I took my car to the shop they replaced the piece that was broken with another broken piece until my "new piece" came in. In addition to replacing to replacing my windshield. And acknowledged that they will take care of the repairs for the paint that was scratched. They told me to only come back when the new trim piece came in. Everytime I have had to come to the shop I had to take an uber home as they worked on my car for more than 2 hours. When I brought the car back they owned up again to the issues replaced the trim piece and gave me a $50 refund for all of the Ubers that I had to take because I could not leave my car there as they did not want to be liable for additional issues. I pointed out to the shop the scratch's and excess glue on my car and they kept insinuating that the glue and scratch's were already there WHICH WAS NOT THE CASE. I have pictures of what my vehicle looks like before the car was taken to the shop. They confirmed with me that I can take my car to a body shop of their choice and they will take it from there. When I went to the shop and dropped my car off taking another uber home I got a call first thing in the morning the next day notifying me that my car was ready for pick up. When I went to go pick up my car, I noticed that the glue under the windshield smeared in with the paint and I brought this up to the body shop that my car was at and they told me that it smeared because of the wet glue. I was furious and they just painted over the scratches. I was told that I had to take to the shop I took my car too for additional assistance. I went back to City Auto Glass and they told me that it looked fine that nothing was wrong with my vehicle smeared paint and all and I had to deal with how it looked. That they would not take my windshield and trip apart again to redo it. **Disclaimer it has been raining and snowing since the damages occurred. Now there is corrosion on the car for the chipped paint that was painted over, glue all over the car, I can hear wind coming in the car from the last trim piece that was replaced and one of the trim pieces are broken. I have gotten several quotes to get my car fixed anywhere from $2,500-$5,000 coming out of pocket. I am outside of the labor warranty of the shop and per our last conversation the vehicle looked fine not owning up to what is going on now. So my vehicle is just damaged now without a proper resolution. DO NOT COME TO THIS SHOP. also they would not give me my money back.

Her insurance company was State Farm Insurance Company which will have a separate review. The insurance recommended Gerber in South Holland, IL. So, I took the 1st time for what I thought was an actual estimate. I was there for at least forty-five minutes. So after I got my car I assumed that was the estimate. So in about almost a week they called me back stated they spoke to State Farm and did I want to set my appointment. So I am like sure yes do this. So at that point I thought they were beginning to fix my car. But that was not the case. Then I got a phone call from State Farm stating they were going to take my car and total it out. I said no I am not totaling my car let me get two more estimates if you feel that's too much. The guy was very abrupt and stated the only options I had were to total my car or withdraw from the claim. I said you are going to total my car out over one estimate. Mind, you to pay my car off was way more than the estimate I stated to them. And, again Colin the insurance adjuster from State Farm stated total the car or withdraw the claim. My car runs fine and is almost paid off so I was not going to start over with a new car note. And, from the amount that they wanted give me it left nothing for a down payment. So back to Gerber when I went there I said just give me my car. They release my car to me even when I went with the police. They stated if something happens to my car they would liable for it. If I got into an accident. I said you wouldn't responsible for that. That would between me and my insurance company. Too make a long story short they wouldn't give me my car even with the police there. So unfortunately I had to withdraw from the claim. So they fixed their clients car but didn't do anything to mine and would 't give me some kind of settlement. I spoke with lawyers but they only want to take your case if you were in the car for personal injury. So, I did get my care back finally on 3/20/2025 and they wouldn't put my car back together claiming if he put the bumper and all the pieces it wall fall off before I got home. My friend is a mechanic and he had put back in twenty minutes. He had the same tools they had and could have done. And, when I went to get an estimate they stated that they had started working on my car which explained why they took parts off that shouldn't even been taken off. I know this is a long review and I don't know if all Gerber's are like this but the one in South Holland, IL should be avoided at all cost. This is the first review that I have ever written or posted that's how disappointed I was in Gerber in South Holland, IL

    This facility was on my insurance company list of shops with work warranty, so I thought it would…read morebe a good choice however that remains questionable. First off it took me 25 minutes of standing around waiting just to make an appointment to come back for an estimate. Upon my return for the estimate received no acknowledgment from receptionist that I was even there for 15 minutes or more. Chris who came in office stated he would be with me, but initially receptionist doesn't respond or acknowledge me which she continued this poor customer service as additional patrons entered and stood at the counter waiting for service. Then a week later after my estimate when I was told to drop off my car my husband and I arrived and saw the receptionist seated as we pulled in and by the time we exited vehicle and entered door she had left the reception desk. Then she proceeded to walk back and forth between the back area and reception desk 3 times and never spoke, asked if we were helped, state that some would be with us shortly, the things most professional receptionist would do! She simply acted as though we weren't there & avoided direct eye contact. Chris once again came into area greeted us and took care of us. My car was at Gerber for one week and I was I received a call from Chris stating that work was completed and my car was going into finishing product where they clean and put on final touches and would be ready for picked by end of day. He stated he would be giving me a callback between 4:30 - 5pm, so I called him on my way to return rental but there was not answer at facility and not even at the main Gerber call center so I left a message. We dropped off rental and came to pick up my car. Upon inspection my husband noticed deep scratch in paint of door jam that was repaired so Chris check to see if could be fixed but due to lateness of day around 5:45pm and that it would require sanding & repainting that they would need a few hours to fix my car the next day and wanted me to leave it . As I had already returned the rental I needed to take my vehicle and since I was told it would take a few hours in the morning and should be completed before noon I would just bring it back first thing in the morning. Upon our arrival home and further inspection we noticed that the replacement door needed alignment and the factory black detailing tape that had been replaced was not even with the other doors. The inside of my vehicle was dusty all long the front doors, console and dashboard areas which indicates it had not been cleaned up at the completion of the work. Then my radio did something it has never done which the screen blacked out. We let the car sit for a few hours and started it again and the screen come back on and this 8" screen controls various functions in my car and worked without issue when I dropped my car off. So my husband and I were at facility first thing in the morning and Chris greeted us and noted the additional issues and stated that it would require added time to complete but hopefully no more than a half day. Well when I had not heard from anyone by 2pm I called for an update and Chris stated that they had recently received the factory detail tape from the dealership and are still working on my car and will call me once it's ready. I stated that if I would've been told it would be an all day repair I would have requested they supply me with a rental so that I could have gone to work but now at this point as my car is still not clean complete I would be losing a whole day of work not the half day I was prepared to be off. It's now 3pm while I'm sending this email and I haven't received a call yet. I should have been offered the option of a rental vehicle as some of the repairs were not completed accurately and unsatisfactorily requiring an additional day to fix. I'm not pleased with the communications from the facility, but readily admit that my interactions with Chris have been pleasant and professional. I'm not pleased with the timeliness from being to end, and receptionist needs work on her customer service.
